We were here on christmas night with not much restaurants open at the time - so were other guests/families mostly with kids. The owner was a great host. He valued more on serving others and helping them rather than making some quick money. Hospitality happens when things happen "for" us (Danny Meyer's book) - and lot of things were made to happen of us. Food-wise it they had to cook a lot of things in the last minute- the food still good. We were originally supposed to takeout. The owner accepted to host us but recommended only take-out would be possible. My wife and I ordered from here two weeks ago when we came to the bay for our anniversary. We ordered to go to take back to the room. The food was hot and ready. The portions were good size and the price wasn't bad. Now to the taste. I almost enhailed my food with one gulp. These guys get it right! Chicken seasoned and cooked right, Rice done right, Chutney done right and the naan done right too! People sometimes take these little things for granted. One of the best Indian-Pakistani eateries in SF, at least in my opinion. Personally, we are big fans of Chicken Boti, Tikka Masala and Biryanis, either lamb or chicken. Excellent Nan breads , try Alo (potatoes stuffed, a bit spicy to my taste), also Onion or Masala (stuffed with jalapenos). I do order lamb chops once in a while, juicy and well spiced. I walk by this place everyday on my way to work and just decided to check it out. Its never busy, but figured it had to be better than India Curry House across the street (curryleaf had a 4.5 star rating afterall!). Well, its not and certainly not deserving of its 4.5 star rating. Ordered take out: Vegetable samosa, Saag dal, garlic naan, vegetable biryani, lamb vindaloo Some observations: - saag dal and samosa were pretty good, maybe 3-4 star good - lamb vindaloo was super greasy, had a thick layer of oil on top of food. Grease actually seeped out of the plastic to-go container, through the carry-out bag and onto my clothes. Food tasted fine (more like 3 stars good), but never have seen such greasy food. My stomach paid the price the next day :(. Who knows, maybe its supposed to be that way, but you have been warned! -garlic naan bread is completely bland. (1 star for naan bread) Almost no taste to it. Thought naan would have been easiest part to figure out. Good for dipping in food/sauces, but not on its own. -missed order (they forgot the rice). Offered to give us free rice, but not taking them up on it (giving my stomach some time to recover) Overall, I have to give them 2 stars if it makes my stomach upset, food is hit or miss, and they miss part of order. read more

This place is amazing. I live near a bunch of Indian Restaurants in Berkeley and Curry Leafs hands down has the best flavors and consistency. It is a little pricier than the average place, but Its located in an expensive part of San Francisco and its totally worth it every time. I recommend their Karachi Chicken for very flavorful and unique take on the dish, Also their Chicken Tikka Masala, a dish you can find at any Indian restaurant, is the best I've ever had. This place is my go to for tasty comfort Indian delivery food. My bf and I always get the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Nihari with double Rice Pillau. Sometimes the entrees are a bit greasy so I have to spoon the grease off the top, but other than that the food is always very flavorful and has a good amount of meat in each serving. We also usually get some variation of Nan (which is pretty plain regardless of the type you get), but I recently tried their Vegetable Samosa appetizer and fell in love. Needed a bit of Indian food in San Francisco and heard about this place so I decided to check it out and was pleasantly surprised. I usually don't expect much from Indian restaurants but this place is pretty good. We got kabob rolls and nihari both of which were on the spicier side so be careful if you don't handle spice well. The naan that came with the nihari was too hard and broke easily. The place was neat and clean with nice, helpful staff but was self-serve. A pretty good spot to try out. read more

Came here for a quick meal before a comedy show. Staff seemed friendly. You order, they give you a number, you grab your plates and utensils, and wait. Took a bit longer than I expected to get our food. Things came out at different times. The foods were flavorful, but the portions were not large. Was a bit disappointed. I love this place. The food is bomb, the service is amazing, and the people are great.. It is slightly too oily for me, but you can tackle that by soaking up any oil you don't want with a paper towel or similar. Do not know the complete 'authenticity scale', but who cares about that. We came here because of the good ratings. The food was very "authentic indian", meaning very spicy, for me personally even too spicy. I had the chicken tikka masala, which was quite spicy and unfortunately the chicken was dry. My boyfriend had the tandoori chicken boti which was also quite spicy but the chicken was nicely cooked. He wasn't very full as it was only a small portion. All in all it was a good price and not too bad but I wouldn't go there again. read more

Nice people and clean place. It's a self serve spot. I wouldn't recommend it for groups over 4, at the most 6. Its a really tiny area. We ordered pakoras, tandoori lamb chops, chicken, fish and kebabs. Everything was decent. I don't have any complaints about the tandooris but that I have had better and the lamb chops were a little dry. We also got goat curry and chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and keema naan. The goat curry was excellent. The gravy had a really authentic flavor. It was spicy and one of the best goat curries I have had. The chicken tikka was good. I liked the gravy more than the chicken pieces in there. They were dry. The garlic naan was good. I highly recommend getting the keema naan. It was also one of the best keema naans I've had in the bay area. The mango lassi was delicious and the chutneys were also great. They tasted fresh and flavorful, not watered down. So if you do go here, most definitely get the goat curry and keema naan, that is if you're not a vegetarian. The pakoras were a little greasy. Go for the samosas instead :) Oh and one more tip. The portions are extremely small. They are only enough for maybe one person or two people who eat like birds. read more

This Indian food is amazing. The texture, the smell, the size of the meat and paneer in perfect, the taste and texture of the naan is soft and chewy at the same time. We came here two times in the past two days. I am always seeking out Indian food and split my time between Seattle (Great Indian food) and Denver (ok Indian food), but if I was near this place, I am fairly certain I would move in and eat it for every second. This place is a 10-minute walk for me and I really enjoy their food. Their prices are pretty average for San Francisco and the food never disappoints. My favorite dishes are from their tandoor menu specifically their seekh kabab and their chicken kabab. Their curry dishes are probably a little better than average. My only concern is their cleanliness. There has been a time or two when I have found hair in the food so if you are super picky about that kind of stuff, maybe you won't like eating here, but the way I see it, the only way you can guarantee absolute cleanliness is cooking at home. read more

This restaurant was good a while ago, a week back or so. And I don't know what happened to the people . We even did catering with them for the office couple of times. We went in a group for lunch today . Ordered starters and main course . Half of the starters came and half of them did not until we wrapped up . Food standard has certainly gone down , because of the Chef or Management ,not sure . We did cancel the order of the remaining starter. While coming back I mentioned to the guy in reception that what is happening to the food standards and service quality ?The guy at the billing just abused me back saying " Why do you just come here, go some where else."
