It was very difficult to find street parking around this restaurant. We parked at the Stockton & Sutter garage and walked a few blocks. We ordered the Garlic Naan, Vindaloo Chicken, and Spinach Chicken. Our food came out in a timely manner. The Garlic Naan was ok. The Vindaloo Chicken and the Spinach Chicken were tasty and flavorful. Amazing food! Na'an was fantastic, shrimp vindaloo was pff the charts, the chicken curry was great. Salty lasi wasn't as salty as is typical but actually had a meaty umami that was great. And the young nepalese girl working was soooooo cute and was excellent at service. read more

I visit SF fairly often for work and everytime I do, I make sure to try a different Indian restaurant. It's one of my favorite foods and I love trying new spots while traveling. It had been a minute since I had tried Nepali - Indian food so when I discovered this restaurant on Yelp, I decided to give it a go. It was only a few blocks from my hotel and their menu looked great. I went with my favorites - samosa, garlic naan, and vegetable korma. It was ready and waiting for me when I arrived and everything was packaged well. The samosas were perfectly fried with a delicious filling of potatoes and green peas. They came with a tamarind sauce for dipping. When I order these they typically come with a mint chutney of some sort, so I would have loved to have that option as well. The garlic naan was a wee bit too hard in some spots, but the chewiness was spot on and it was a great vessel for my korma. The korma itself wasn't super flavorful, but it was creamy and the vegetables were cooked just right. The serving size was also pretty hefty. I found the prices of everything to be extremely reasonable and ordering online was easy. While it wasn't one of my favorite spots, it was yummy and filled me up and even left me with some leftovers. read more

Came here for lunch with coworkers. We got chicken momo, goat curry and okra. The servings looked small when it first got to our table but turns out it was just enough for our table of three. None of the spices were overpowering. Service was fantastic. Just keep in mind it takes some time to cook the dishes so probably can't come here if you're on a strict lunch break. This place deserves 5 star and I have good reasons for it. It is a Nepalese place but you will find the menu pretty similar to Indian. So what's the difference - it is how Nepalese food is made. I tried the Spinach chicken and I can totally feel authentic Nepalese taste. More turmeric, slightly higher salt, super soft chicken likely cooked in cooker with more liquidy gravy topped with generous amount of cilantro. All very typical of Nepalese style of cooking. Even the Mango Lassi was pretty solid - felt fresh and not going sour whatsoever. If there was anything which was a little underwhelming - it was the Aloo Paratha. It was good but it was made like Bihari/Nepali style. If you are expecting Punjabi style paratha - you will be disappointed. Ambience is ordinary but given the place is located in SF downtown, I won't complain. read more

A little gem of a Nepalese place in Union Square. It seems simple from first view, but every thing they make, they serve with love and excellence. We ordered the garlic naan, the mix of chicken/veggie momos, goat curry, and the chicken tandoori. They even gave us a complimentary small side of tamarind sauce. All was delicious but to keep it short the chicken tandoori was the star for me. Beat tandoori I've ever had. A bit light on the Nepalese with really just two kinds of momos. Though there is a pretty good listing of Indo-Chinese dishes which taste distinctly different from regular Chinese food. Unfortunately a lot of those more interesting menu items are not part of the steam table lunch combo, so you'll need to order them from the menu separately. Chicken Momo: A Nepalese standard and pretty solid as far as momos go. Nice spiced minced chicken ball inside a thick dough wrapper. And that signature pasty spicy momo dipping sauce that is way better than soy & vinegar sauce. Very hearty and filling. Gobi Manchurian: A uniquely Indo-Chinese dish. The cauliflower is dipped in batter, deep fried and tossed in sweet & spicy stick sauce. The smaller pieces are excellent because they're still crunchy when they get to your table. The large pieces don't quite have as nice a texture plus the surface area to veggie ratio isn't as good. Lots of great flavor, though not particularly filling. Vegetable Chowmein: A little wetter than regular chowmein with some subtle Indian spices mixed in. Lots of lightly stir fried veggies to give contrast to all the carby noodles. Though the noodles kinda felt like boxed dried spaghetti rather than fresh springy Chinese noodles. The ketchup served on the side actually works well with it. It was interesting to try, but probably not a repeat. read more
