    Chicken Tikka Masala Curry
    Darlene A.

Great late night find! I was looking for quick takeout around 9:30 PM and glad to see Raavi's is open til 10 PM. Gotta start with the best part : they have free, self serve chai latte! It was piping hot, perfectly spiced with real chai flavor, & so warming during the chilly sf weather. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala & Garlic Naan to go. The tikka masala was delicious, curry was rich and well-seasoned, I personally loved that they used chicken breast, as I don't eat chicken thigh. I finished every last bit of the curry. The garlic naan was the perfect companion. It was toasted perfectly, had a generous amount of garlic butter, wasn't overly greasy at all. Service was quick, the food came out about 8 minutes after we ordered.

Yum...Very tasty Indian food in North Beach (another in Soma) We came to Raavi in the evening and waited in a short line to order. We had 2 chicken dishes. Especially liked the Tikka Massala. Seems like a big "To Go"spot although we ate there. Looks like they have daily lunch specials. Reasonable prices.Good size portions. Order at the counter.

Finally, a go-to Indian spot that is super affordable and also super delicious in North Beach. It's self serve so you order at the counter, grab your plates, utensils & there's even free chai take a seat and then they bring your food out to you! So easy and quick. It's not full service so don't expect Copra status or any heavily decorated tables, very casual and gets the job done!

Wow!! The portion sizes for the price are amazing! The garlic naan was very aromatic, and the mango lassi was nice and creamy. I ordered here for takeout and requested that the goat curry be made spicy, which they kindly accommodated. The order was completed quickly, and I'm very impressed overall!

I was craving Indian food for days and this place did not disappointed. First off, the prices are amazing. Lamb curry, garlic naan, and butter chicken for under $30? That's insane in SF. The food was delicious as well. Garlic naan could've been a little crisper (in my opinion), but the lamb curry was perfect and the butter chicken was creamy and full of spices. Great location and I will be back in the future

Baingan Bharta ($9), an eggplant dish, is delicious

If you, like me, lament current restaurant prices but also don't wish to sacrifice great taste as the trade-off I'd like to introduce you to Raavi. Numerous placards inside the sparsely furnished interior attest to the fact that "people love us on yelp" and now I can get in that line. With a location that straddles North Beach, Jackson Square, and Chinatown, Inidan fare might not be what you thought you sought and peering inside might confirm that. Step up to the register, order, and pay. Food will be brought to your table but not before you help yourself to utensils, a plate, napkins, and a self-serve, free, unsweetened chai. The place lacks charm or, really a cohesive decor, but the food and prices make up for that. The prices here are so reasonable that I was downright joyful to see the portion sizes. Both Basmati Rice ($3) and Baingan Bharta ($9; an eggplant dish) were ample enough in size to fully satisfy me and the remainders proved good for a whole second meal at home. None of this meal - which ran a total of $13 - would matter if the food weren't good but it is actually so good, so delicious, that I am already planning a return visit. The menu is large and even dishes containing seafood seem to top out at around $12. Thank you, Raavi, for helping me again find the joy in dining out.

I've had take out from here twice now, and both times were a great experience. The most recent time I ordered through Uber Eats to my hotel and the food was delivered 5 min before the estimated arrival. The entrees are huge and could probably even feed 2 people. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and it arrived steaming hot in a large container. It came with a large side of basmati rice, as well as a large side of garlic naan. I also ordered the samosas which came with two large samosas and two dipping sauces. Overall the food itself is so flavorful and tasty. It's good quality and it travels well for takeout. I'll definitely keep ordering from here when I'm in town!

Taste is good. I will surely come again. Kabebs are good. The food is decently priced and good value for money.

Great place for indian food thats close to office around Embarcadero. Tikka masala - 3.8/5, basic but delicious. I think there was a fried cheese or something in one of the containers though, which was weird. It didn't seem like there was any other meat or protein either.. I didn't open the other tikka masala containers but I hope they weren't like this one. Butter chicken - 4/5, great flavor with lots of little bits of tender chicken. Baingan bhartha - alright, I personally don't prefer eggplant this way but others liked it! Flavor was decent. Chana masala - garbanzo beans with spices. If you like beans, this seemed pretty good. Lots of people liked it. Palak paneer - paneer with spinach curry. It was good at first bite, but for some reason it was too salty after eating everything else. Samosas - people seemed to like this too!

To step into the shoes of Peewee for a moment, if there was a food I'd want to marry, it would be Raavi's. How long I've lived in the neighborhood literally steps away and absently overlooked this place is beyond me!! Every single thing I've had is delectable. Including their masala tea (which apparently is one drink free with meal if you dine here). My favorite is the daal and chicken tikka, it's a must to get the garlic naan! Their prices are extremely affordable for an Indian place and they even have chicken momos here, I can die happy. (Must be some nepalese influence, love it) Another favorite is the saag paneer and can't forget the butter chicken. The seating is quaint but aplenty and they have restrooms here with a door code. The service is wonderful and they are always prompt and on the go...like literally, so many couriers coming into the place to swathe away some of the finest indian food for the take out peeps.

tldr: the most worth it Indian food around the city! My partner and I were wandering around FiDi when we saw this North Indian place and decided to check out the menu. To our disbelief, almost all the menu items were under $15 including our favorites lamb saag and lamb korma that were just $11 each! We had to try it. Walking in, we realized that everything was self service and to pay/order up front (although they still bring you your food and clean up for you). There is a self service station with water, utensils, and chai (!). The food got to us pretty quickly and sizzling hot (literally since the kebabs were on a steaming cast iron). The naan was fresh and fluffy, the saag was rich in flavor, the mango lassi as so deliciously sweet and creamy, and the lamb biryani was fragrant and massive in portion. This place is no frills yet clean and cheap yet super tasty. We spent $51 and had enough leftover for another meal for the two of us!

While the food itself was decent, the abysmal service completely ruined our evening. The Food: 4/5 The menu is designed for sharing. We ordered 5 dishes in total; 3 were genuinely good and 2 were just okay. The Service: 0/5 The experience was terrible from the start. When I asked our waiter for a cocktail recommendation, he dismissively replied, "It's whatever you like," offering zero actual suggestions. Because we had a late lunch, our party of three started by ordering 3 dishes. The waiter immediately seemed annoyed by this. I explained that we wanted to gauge the portion sizes first and would order more as we went. As we realized the plates were quite small, we ordered a fourth item, and later, a fifth. At that point, the waiter actually lectured us, claiming the kitchen doesn't like orders placed at different times and that everything must be ordered upfront. For a shared-plate menu, this made absolutely no sense. After that, his attitude grew worse, and he began aggressively tossing dishes onto our table. When an older gentleman (who seemed to be checking on tables) stopped by, I asked him if this "all at once" ordering rule was real. Shockingly, our waiter stood right next to us, intentionally eavesdropping on the conversation. To top it all off, after I left an 18% tip (which he absolutely did not deserve), he snatched the payment reader right out of my hand. Overall: We have never experienced such rude, hostile service in our lives. We will absolutely never return to Copra.

The person who states "This is most likely the best restaurant in the world" has to be beyond sheltered; It's not even the best restaurant in the _neighborhood_. The main thing you must understand: the food is "inspired" by Indian food, but it does _not_ taste like Indian food. I suspect its been intentionally watered down to be palatable to milquetoast palettes. We ordered three small plates and the butter chicken as the main. Chicken Tikka Taco. This was greasy to the touch, with chicken and cheese. The dominate flavor is the cheddar cheese. They were trying to be creative but the ultimate effect was similar to a frozen burrito with cheddar cheese and chile verde. If you eat this, close your eyes and imagine a microwaved, frozen burrito..you'll see what I mean. Tandoori Avocado. This features an avocado that's been warmed and covered in a chili sauce. There's a green hummus and a fried dosa crisp. While it sounds wild, once the flavors are mixed together on the plate...the overall effect is that of a green-goddess salad. It's not bad, but its not mind bending. Octopus Xec Xec. The octopous was was cooked nicely and there was a tomato based sauce. Unlike something you'd find in India, it is _not_ heavy on the spices, or tang, or nuttiness. It's just very _neutral_. Butter Chicken. This was the biggest disappointment. I've never had a butter chicken curry that tasted so close to tomato soup in my life. I've eaten tons of butter chicken in my life, hundreds of Indian restaurants. I cannot imagine this was not an intentional choice...It was extremely disappointing. Also, the choice to use chicken breast was poor. Inevitably you get overcooked, chewy chicken pieces. They must have chosen this because (like Disneyland) sometimes you water things down to make it more popular with less adventurous people. The customers next to us (not Indian) kept slathering it on their rice and saying "I can't believe I didn't use to like Indian food!" -- that told me all I needed to know. BTW the naan is insanely bad. They stretched it very thin and then crisped it to the point that it breaks like a cracker. In what world is naan not pillowy and soft? Personally, I was really disappointed with this experience -- the other reviews on yelp are absolute insanity IMO. I know there's a hype train right now -- but someday people will realize this place is not it.
