Came here with friends who enjoy coming for Indian food. I can see why. Relaxing with its warm colored walls/decor and mildly dimmed lights. It's a bit posh and hip at the same time. Great for a date and good for groups but make a reservation. All the food was good, some a bit more spicy than others. A bit pricier than some traditional Indian restaurants I've been to in LA and OC, but you're also paying for the ambiance and it being in the hip part of South Park. Street parking is a bit difficult on weekends and holidays. Usually this place is amazing, service is wonderful, foods great (usually we get the friendly guy server sorry I didn't get his name but he served us twice) We went to dinner last night around 8 pm. There was maybe a table or two and one sever. It wasn't busy at all but yet our server she kept forgetting half of my meal. The paneer seems like it was cut into thin slices and not the normal cube size so that's disappointing. They were out of chai also. I've never been to an Indian restaurant where they ran out of chai. Having walked this part of South Park multiple times, the smell of curry emanating from Curryosity has always made me curious about dining in here. We stopped in on a Thursday night, which so happens to be Date Night Thursdays here! 2 drinks and an appetizer with a heart symbol next to it for $18 - what a deal! Drinks: we had the Bombay Sangria and Imili Temptations. The sangria presentation was great but the taste was more of a fruity beer than a sangria, which wasn't exactly what we were expecting/looking for. The imili temptations has a mix of tamarind, cumin, lime, and soju vodka but the flavors were mild and didn't really stand out. Appetizers: the Bhel Puri and Chutney Sampler were both excellent. The Bhel Puri was a nice, cool, curry-flavored salad-like dish with puffed rice, potatoes, onions and a hint of tamarind - definitely a unique appetizer which we thoroughly enjoyed. The Chutney Sampler came with spiced mango chutney, mint chutney, herby hot sauce, and a tangy tamarind chutney that you dip wheat chips in - all sauces were just perfect for a wide range of flavors in a simple appetizer. Mains: we tried the Chicken Masala and Rack of Lamb. The masala was nice and warm but the flavor was tame and reminded us more of a tomato basil soup. The chicken was a little tough and dry for some reason but the masala was great to dip the naan (the naan was exceptional!) The rack of lamb was a bit disappointing at its price point of $30 - it was cooked well but for all the seasoning the menu says its marinated in (ginger, garlic, cumin, coriander, turmeric), it somehow didn't have much of those flavor profiles showing up and tasted a little bland tbh. I found myself dipping the lamb into the masala sauce for some sort of flavor for a majority of the meal. It also came with some greens which I guess was supposed to be a side salad but wasn't doing a whole lot for me. Both dishes come with rice but the rice tasted old and also lacked flavor but still was fine to pair with the sauces. They have some bar seating, regular indoor seating, and outdoor seating and is modestly decorated. Service was fine and attentive, but I did feel a tad rushed throughout the meal. Overall, Curryosity for sure has some amazing Indian dishes here while some were not to our liking; however, there were definitely some other items on the menu that still has me curious, so I would not mind coming back to try those next time! read more

Located near the corner of Fern and 30th, there was plenty of street parking around 5pm on a Friday. If you park at the meters, it's free after six. They have a few tables outside on the sidewalk and a few tables in their patio. Be warned that you'll most likely be bitten by mosquitoes or flies landing on your food. We sat out in the patio but then moved indoor when my legs got devoured by mosquitoes and popped up like hives. We ordered: Dynamite wings Samosa slim Curry fries Curry mac n cheese Chicken masala Butter chicken All the curry tasted the same. Sorry to say but it's like me making curry in the Instapot and slapping it on the waffle fries, Mac, and wings. The samosa had potato fillings and came with a tamarind and chutney dip. The butter chicken came with a few pieces of shredded chicken while the masala was something I've never seen before. The pieces of chicken were on a plate with the masala sauce in a bowl in the center. I had more sauce than the masala. So it made it dry when the chicken is not in the sauce. For some reason the basmati rice was not good either. It was just plain. We spent a total of $95 and I didn't feel like we got our monies worth when everything was just average. The service and ambiance was nice. It might have been different if we were able to add spice levels. The best item would be the garlic naan. My drink was a mojito and usually I ask for something sweet but all their drinks are on the sweeter refreshing side so can't go wrong. The mojito was actually too sweet for my liking. It'll be best if you can go during happy hour to try the same thing but less on your wallet. read more

I've come here multiple times at this point and I have to say it's easily one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego! The staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful with determining what to order or just chatting! The food is phenomenal! The snacks are probably my favorite part of the menu since you get to try so many things and enjoy the fun fusion flavors! The curry mussels and the curry fries have to be my absolute favorites! Absolutely delicious! My husband and I love this place and think it's so unique and fun as well. We came with empty bellies and left satisfied and happy. For starters, I had the mango cocktail and we shared the chutney sampler. I really enjoyed the sweeter chutney. Next came the curry fries. I was afraid they'd be too soggy, but they were delicious. They were well fried before being topped with curry. There wasn't a single dry fry on the plate. We continued making pigs of ourselves by ordering tikka masala, rice and garlic naan...then asked for a SECOND order after we devoured the first. Expect it gets really busy in the neighborhood as there are lots of eateries. We got seated immediately. The pink and white decor is soothing. I also particularly loved the steel plates and glasses. Wed they have a wine special. If you're a foodie like me, go on Monday when they have a free naan. We ordered the dynamite wings, rack of lamb, green coconut curry chicken and a garlic naan. We loved the chutney and sweet sauce on the wings. The wings themselves were ok. Nothing out of world and would've preferred them a bit more crispy. The rack of lamb was delicious. The masala sauce that comes with it is really good! Even the salad base was well-made. My boyfriend asked for it to be medium rare but I (who prefers no chewy meat) was able to eat and enjoy it all the same! The coconut curry chicken took me back home to South India. Not too spicy and they got the flavors just right for it to sing :) loved it. Garlic bread was thin and broke a little too quickly but I liked the taste of it. It is much lighter than the usual which is refreshing. The turmeric rice that accompanied it all was disappointing - dry, pretty much tasteless and felt a little stale. Overall portion sizes are small. The rack of lamb costs $25. So based on the small portions, above average costs and the disappointing rice, 3.75 stars. read more

Allow me to kill your curryosity. What started as a hopeful night of celebrations, quickly transpired into a Diet Coke fueled display of Karen-ism. Seating: Our party of 3 had a 7:30 reservation, but was shown our seats at 7:45...SHOWN. Not walked. We sat ourselves and pushed our own tables together, then googled the menus since we didn't get any. Drink/apps: 20 after, we ordered our food and Diet Cokes. Only after asking twice for our drinks, we received a kid-sized cup of DC. Our appetizer came next. We ran out of DC (and patience) by this point, and requested pitchers to hold us over. Maybe I caught you guys on a bad bad bad night but maybe don't overbook reservations and takeout orders. That way I'm not celebrating my bestfriends promotion waiting for 2 hours for only half of our order and a terrible wait (keep in mind I've worked serving tables before and I've never written a review like this before.. but wow i've never seen this) Ordering: 20 minutes later still no water or a sight of a waiter or MENUS? At this point we googled the website and just looked up the menus. We finally place our order. 30 minutes later we finally got our curry fries all 6 pieces. Keep in mind we still haven't gotten our drink order. I ask him again and we finally got our drink in 15 min after appetizers. What upset me the most was our waiter would tell us he was getting our drinks and walk the complete opposite direction. This happened throughout the night at one point he came up to us and asked if we were good and needed any boxes. I was shocked because we didn't even get the other half of our order!!!! At this point we've reached the 2 hour mark with half of our food still not there. We asked to close out at this point and I complained about how we still haven't received our food. Our waiter quote said "it is what it is idk what to tell you" and just left never apologized or once said sorry. At this point we stormed out. My boyfriend and I were visiting San Diego for a little over a week, and were determined to try as much good food as possible. I made reservations for a large party and we chose to sit in the lounge area. The lounge was outfitted with low tables and cushions on the floor. It was a unique and relaxing way to dine. It also afforded our party privacy. Our waitress was welcoming and friendly. She was helpful with menu suggestions as well. The food was delicious! A group of us were able to reserve a room for a friend's birthday. The seating was pillows on the ground - I'm a shorter person so it was good for me, some of my other tall friends had a harder time getting up and down. We all loved our food and my lamb was so tender! The drinks are soju based so they're not as strong but the prices reflected the spirit choice.
