Here is the abbreviated back story: I'm a disabled 30-year Army veteran who signed a contract with Patriot Lawn in March 2020, after my Persian Gulf War-related disabilities worsened to the point where I could no longer maintain the yard on my own. I selected Patriot Lawn because they mowed my neighbor's yard. My contractual issue with them began when I emailed photos and asked Patriot Lawn to repair the damage to my lawn caused by their crew using the heaviest self-propelled mower on a small area of wet grass in my front yard. The office manager agreed to do the lawn restoration but stipulated that there would be a charge if there was a next time. I responded by offering suggestions to avoid causing further damage (like using a weed eater or simply skipping that small area if it's soggy), and I pushed back on their idea that I should be charged for repairing damage caused by their crew as not being legal in Virginia. The next day, I received an email from the president of Patriot Lawn informing me that after his manager repaired my lawn, and he was discontinuing my mowing service. I responded to his email by pointing out that we have a contract in place that obligated Patriot Lawn to provide a set number of mowing per year, and his unilateral decision to prematurely discontinue my mowing service would be a breach of our contract. The president of Patriot Lawn responded to my email by stating that his mowing service is not a binding contract. In response, I asked him for a copy of our contract to review, but he did not respond to my request. I located a copy of my contract in my email archives, and I confirmed that the president of Patriot Lawn was not telling the truth. So, what am I doing about all of this: first and foremost, I wanted to warn other neighbors about Patriot Lawn and Landscape's unlawful (and unpatriotic) bad faith acts. Secondly, I am in the process of filing a formal bad business complaint with the Better Business Bureau Lastly, under Virginia's Consumer Protection Act, I am in the process of filing a with the Attorney General of Virginia. What do I want you to do: I would like you to avoid signing or renewing a contract with Patriot Lawn and Landscape and instead follow the advice that the company president gave me after four years, "There are a lot of mowing companies out there... and finding one is absolutely the best solution for your lawn."

The mother called and left a message last night that she had time "sometime" today, wednesday, or Saturday. We were done with them and decided they were extremely non commital, unreliable, and Unprofessional. Then the mother called this morning and offered today or Saturday. I told her for the 3rd time we cant do weekends for estimates. And that we need a morning like 9 am appointment. She seemed put off by it and offered 9-10 some morning. I told her that we need to work and cant wait around for Gordon or Cody for an hour to give us an estimate. She said she'd call them and call me back in 10 or 15 minutes. Never heard from her. These people at this company clearly get leads and play games, juggling potential customers into time slots that are only convenient to themselves and will drop you if they feel like it for personal reasons, a more expensive job comes through after promising you, or they want to sleep in past 9 am on a weekday. Its a wonder companies like this have any customers frankly. Wacky experience for a company that is to be cutting down enormous trees around your home. Disorganized and a waste of your time.

Ultimately, ACA was once considered the best bang-for-your-buck yard-work service that you paid a little more for than the budget priced guys but got really quality work. Over the last few years, they've increased their prices exponentially and decreased their quality. I recognize the prices of things have gone up in recent years but there's no excuse for the terrible service. I scheduled them for a (over-priced) yard clean-up with 5 yards of mulch. Their office location repeatedly rescheduled it without informing us and I had to hound them to get answers about the availability. Eventually, the person I was speaking with even admitted they had no clue when they'd come out. Terrible communication / management that impacted what day my wife would go into the office that week. The actual work done was sub-par as well. Three folks showed up and made a really poor effort to remove weeds, leaving a ton behind, and then sloppily threw mulch on top of them, scattering it all over my yard as well. What a pain the next time a mowed the lawn! They tore out three completely healthy rosemary bushes that I used on a regular basis and completely mangled a rose bush that was a gift from my wife's grandfather before he passed away. The edging was poor and sloppy and they didn't ask anything of us. Ultimately, they got the job done and they did it on a short timeline because of rain last week having pushed the date and that's the primary reason why they got 2 stars instead of 1; but I don't know that I'll ever use them again.

For what we felt was a reasonable price, Ian's Lawn Service came in, did an EXCELLENT job on the lawn (i.e. much better than I was able to do) and with the edging. Our first time coming home from work to see their work, we literally said "wow!" when we saw our lawn (not exaggerating). They also nicely packaged up all the clippings from the yard and placed them on the curb for pickup. I'm very happy with the service thus far and happy that I no longer have to spend an hour or two of my weekend mowing, edging, weed whacking, etc my back yard. (Which, even with the time/effort I spent, I would grade my results a "C" compared to Ian's Lawn Service's "A"). Communication was also painless and easy. I bought a rowhouse with a 1 car garage and gravel parking pad. The garage had quite a bit of deferred maintenance over the decade or so since it was built. The roof leaked. There was cracked plastic siding, some wood rot to the underlying plywood, and rotting exterior trim. The concrete garage floor was badly cracked and poorly repaired, allowing water in during the winter that would froze on the garage floor. Olive Branch did an excellent job removing and replacing the roof with upgraded architectural shingles. They replaced rotten plywood and trim, installed a vapor barrier, then re-sided the garage with upgraded Hardiplank siding. The concrete floor was demoed, removed and hauled off, then the garage floor and gravel parking pad were replaced with high-strength cement. A new french drain along the garage door keeps the rain out. The estimate was clear, accurate, and reasonable. The service was spot-on. Work crews showed up on time and didn't leave a mess. Tim oversaw all the work and ensured the job went as planned. He made sure all those minor hiccups that happen in every job were resolved to my satisfaction. I'm very pleased with the outcome and will definitely use Olive Branch again for my next exterior project.

I had multiple estimates for a pressure treated retaining wall, three drain pipes, a low level deck tear down, river rock/flagstone and artificial grass install. From day one, I knew he was going to be the company I went with. He was super professional, came in at a fair price, completed the project quickly with a very professional/knowledgeable staff and has been amazing to work with on the back end. He was so good, I recommended him to my parents for a massive hardscape project and to my homeowners association for some tree work our community needs completed. We had no issues with Jeremy / SSS at all. A lot of companies don't really care about you once the check is cashed and the project is completed, but not Jeremy. Throughout working with Jeremy on my home project, he had found out that my grandfather was very ill (eventually passed away). Approximately two weeks after the project was completed and paid for, Jeremy gave me a ring and left me a voicemail checking in on my family and I to see how we were holding up.
