Nathalie, In response to your reply, we are needing to clarify a few things for accuracy: We wanted some options for both the makeup vanity & guest bedroom walls, but also expressed we wanted all rooms to be cohesive and flow; we asked about using a possible soft pink or mauve color for my makeup vanity and a possible soft green or blue for the guest bedroom walls. We never agreed on either of these colors yet those are only two color options you offered. We were struggling to find colors, and were relying on your guidance, and as such, hired you a color professional to come up with ideas that would work with our home. We did ask about pink and green but only as possible options, but you took our suggestion as gospel and ran with those colors, locked us in immediately to those colors and proceeded to give us two small color swatches, with no other choices/options discussed. When we asked for other color options for the makeup vanity, you replied use "white dove" which was already our default decision if we could not find another color, which is why we brought in a color consultant specialist for help. Pink and/or green is for a child's room not a modern/transitional home remodel and will not work. These color ideas that we brought up to you had not been fully flushed out and were tossed out only during the process of trial and error. We really needed your expertise here in choosing appropriate colors and for you to guide us properly. You relied on your extensive color palate to flip through colors rather than really take in the space and offer the correct options. Instead, you locked us in to those colors as soon as we brought them up. When we initially spoke with you on the phone you assured us you were qualified to guide us and could find solutions that would work. There were three main rooms we needed help with and we discussed this with you over the phone prior to your visit. #1. Master Bath vanity paint or wood, #2. Guest Bath vanity paint or wood, #3. Makeup vanity color options to include the adjacent bedroom walls. You focused so heavily on matching the fireplace rocks in our great room, which I made clear multiple times to you this was not my concern or focus during the consultation, which you dismissed. Rather than offering solutions, you concluded at the end to "just go with what you've chosen for wood vanities". Your selection Chantilly Lace for bathroom walls, along with white dove ceiling and trims does not work as a bright white turns white dove dingy and grey which we repeated expressed our concerns with to you. As our color consultant we asked that you guide us in the right direction and not use our input and suggestions as gospel. A pink Makeup vanity although sounds lovely in theory, does not work with our wood flooring or master shower tile selections and other schemes throughout the house. When we called you back to discuss the makeup vanity in pink would not work you told me to "just use Chantilly lace". In response to your comment about rejecting all agreed upon selections... we expressed during our consultation that we still were not comfortable with the choices you had locked us into. You provided us limited selections one color to choose from which we never agreed were correct and we expressed this prior to the conclusion of our consultation. Nathalie, while we appreciate you coming out, we don't feel we received the expert guidance of an experience color consultant as reflected and advertised as such in your profile, and certainly not at the high premium you charge for your expertise. Nathalie is good at what she does! Besides the obvious -when you meet her you will know what I mean- her word choice is descriptive and her ability to elaborate gives guidance towards solutions. The reason my husband and I decided to consult with Nathalie is because he and I could not agree on a color scheme. After months and months of searching and debating, on our own, we could not agree. We had different preferences and couldn't come to a compromise on our own. What made it more difficult was that the front of our home had a lot going on in terms of textures, materials and lines, from vertical tongue and grooves, trim to stucco to brickwork. With his preferences and my preferences communicated to Nathalie, she was able to find a color scheme that pleased both of us. Moreover, she knew how to take 3 colors and make it work with all that was going on with our exterior. Counter balancing whites to reduce unwanted pink light reflections! My partner and I were challenged to move forward painting our interior a white that would counterbalance strong pink tone coming from exterior light reflections. The whites that we were choosing didn't feel right against our concrete floors (dingy feeling), adding even more complexity to selecting the perfect white. Nathalie took careful attention during our visit by asking really great lifestyle questions; questions about future renovation plans that may change light circumstances, etc. - very detailed questions to better understand our needs. She helped us gain insight about the relationship between light and its influences in a space, color saturation/intensity, reflectivity and how objects against the white tones felt in connection to the overall room, etc. She placed a sample order for us and we quickly got the larger samples to test on our walls. Nathalie was spot on! The result is a beautiful white that counter balances the pink cast that we were getting from outside. Choosing paint color is NOT my strong suit. After 17 years in my home, I finally had the nerve to have the exterior painted this past March. After it was all done (bummer alert) I HATED the colors I chose. It turned out dark, drab and depressing -- not exactly the vibe I was going for. After a couple of months, I realized that I couldn't live with it, so I did a quick Google search for a local color consultant. Luckily I found Nathalie Tierce. I called her right away -- and in a bizarre twist of fate, we realized that she had done the color consulting for the house directly across the street from me (which I LOVE). It was meant to be! She came out to see me a few days later (with mask and proper social distancing, of course). Let me just say that she did NOT disappoint. Nathalie is billed as a color consultant, but I would swear she's more of a color PSYCHIC. It sounds weird (yeah, I know), but it's almost as if the house communicates with her. She took one look at my place and instantly told me that the color I had chosen for the trim was a really "handsome" color -- but that the dark color I had chosen for the stucco was dragging the whole house down. She was certain that I could keep the existing trim color and we could just pick a new color for the stucco that would be a better complement. That scenario would also be far less labor intensive...and CHEAPER. I was ALL for that! I might mention that Nathalie not only knows color, but she also has a downright scientific understanding of how light, shade, sun direction and landscaping AFFECT that color. Because my house faces North and never gets direct sunlight on the front, she immediately started looking at lighter/brighter options that would give my house a much needed "lift" (as she described). After deciding on two possible candidates and having me do the proper tests, we were in total agreement about which color worked best. Fast-forward a week later and my painters already had the new color up. What a difference (and what a relief)! It's GORGEOUS! Thank you, Nathalie! And after just a couple of days, I soon came to realize that the new lighter/brighter stucco color brought with it a huge and unexpected extra added bonus. The interior of my house is now a full 5 to 7 degrees COOLER. No lie! My A/C barely even needs to kick on now. I never would've believed the exterior color could make THAT much of a difference on the inside. It's been life-altering for me -- and The DWP savings alone will far and away make up for the expense of repainting. So, to recap: If you're getting ready to paint your house and are feeling a little (or a lot) overwhelmed, please don't be a dumb-a$# like me and waste a lot of time, energy and cash on avoidable mistakes. I'm getting my house ready for sale and the real estate agent says everyone now wants a white kitchen. I go to home Depot to find the color white. Turns out there are 50 different versions. I have no idea which white but I know I dont want it to be hospital white. So I start looking on Yelp for a Color Consultant. Nathalie is amazing!!! We have a 1934 colonial home with cream trim and moldings throughout. We found out the HARD way that the trim and lighting would make it very hard to pick a new wall color for our bedrooms, foyer and hallways (everything was making the moldings/trim look like a dirty yellow and it was way too much of an undertaking to change the moldings/trim). We originally painted the walls a light blue and it looked AWFUL. Not to mention we are working with an interior designer so we had no idea how it had turned out so badly!! So we had to pause the paint job and start the paint color search again. After totally striking out with the blue, and losing trust in ourselves and our interior designer, we hired Nathalie because we knew we needed a color expert and wanted to spend the money upfront to get it right. The cost of Nathalie is far less than the cost of paying painters to come do the same job twice :) I am so glad we made this investment and I just wish we had found Nathalie before we even put an initial swatch on the wall because it would have saved us so much time, money and emotions!! An interior designer is not a paint color expert and you absolutely do need both if you want to get it right. Nathalie went above and beyond and after our initial consultation, she came back to our home a second time to look at the selected samples on the wall and help us finalize the choices. I admit I was skeptical when I first heard about Nathalie and her work from a friend, but I am so glad that we engaged her. Color is very hard to get right, and easy to get wrong. Here is what Nathalie does to make it easy to get right. 1. She gives you a simple vocabulary to discuss colors, shades, values and other esoteric nuances about color. This makes it possible for you to communicate with her what you are looking for. 2. She carries large swatches that allow you to see how the color will look at your house. 3. She has hundreds and hundreds of swatches to choose from, and, with your new vocabulary, it is not a guessing game, you are funneling down to the exact color in your head. 4. Sounds simple, but Nathalie knows exactly where to paint samples at your house that will give you the best feedback on how a color will look. She sends you a rendering with arrows pointing to where you should paint samples. So easy. 5. She somehow comes up with adjectives that help characterize what you are looking for in color. For our house she told us it would look "handsome", which was exactly what we wanted but couldn't articulate. 6. You can use Nathalie at any time, for us she came in after our original designer couldn't proceed and had not yet picked colors, not a problem for Nathalie, she was able to fit herself into our project like she had always been there. However, you are going to want to use Nathalie as early as you can, so you don't waste time later. 7. Finally, Nathalie works very hard, and is very responsive. Through a series of maintenance issues, my husband and I realized that we would carry out some serious renovation on our home. That meant we were going to have to figure colors for paint and tiles which overwhelmed us. Natalie really nailed it. This is the first time we used a color expert to help us choose colors for each room. She took photos, look at the lighting and the furniture and chose colors for each room. I never heard of or thought about a person helping in this area. But it was amazing how she figured out each room so the flow from room to room was subtle yet changing. When I redid the exterior of my house some time ago, I borrowed the colors from my broker's house, with her permission! They look great on her place, but they didn't work on mine. This describes my previous experiences exactly. And I'm someone who's generally confident in my own design decisions, but not with paint! When she came to my place, I had prepared some photos of exterior paint jobs I liked, and we walked around the neighborhood where I pointed out some house color combinations I liked and didn't like, and for what reason. She then went through her books of swatches and very quickly honed in on a handful of colors that seemed like the perfect choices. That's a skill that I simply don't have-- it was like watching a magician. My house exterior has five colors total (two are trim), and she left me with two choices for three of them, and we agreed on the other two right on the spot. I mention this because the I wasn't left with five choices for each color, which would have been a new version of my original problem of indecisiveness. Also, because of her connections with Dunn Edwards, she was able to get the samples made, in my case, for no charge. Long story, but the project got delayed a year, and when I finally got back to it, I had her come back over for a second look once I had applied the samples to various spots. She gave a couple more recommendations, and I was able to quickly settle on the final color choices, which ended up looking great when the project was completed. We THOUGHT we had good eyes for color. Until the shade that looked gray in the store turned out to be a ghastly baby blue I can only describe as "haunted nursery." After all the time and expense of buying and painting we were so unhappy! But then we called Nathalie to help us out. I'm so glad we did. I only wish we would have called her FIRST! She was so calm and knowledgeable about picking color. DIdn't try and force her vision on us, she worked with ours. Helped us understand how all the elements of outside color and light and floor color all play into how we perceive color on the wall. Our dining room and living room went from haunted nursery to Architectural Digest luxe all because of Nathalie's help. Oh, and she helped us find an AMAZING rug as well, not only in a perfect color palate but in a size you can't find anywhere (7'6" x 9.6"?! Who has ever heard of such a thing? One word describes my experience with Nathalie ... AMAZING!!! She has a great eye and sense of style. I found her here on yelp and am so glad I took a chance with her. I wanted to re-paint some rooms and no matter what color I put up it looked aweful ...I literally was driving myself crazy ... If you've tried to pick out paint colors you know what I'm talking about. Nathalie to the rescue!!!!! She came to my house and saw how the lighting changed every color and knew exactly how to counteract that so that I ended up with the color I wanted. I commissioned Custom Color and Art to create a unique portrait of our 5 year old son. We did not want the traditional type of wall hanging. We wanted an original piece of art with our son as the subject. My jaw dropped by how amazing this portrait turned out. It was hip, fresh, contemporary, and at the same time very sentimental. Every time someone walks in our craftsman home it is the topic of conversation. I loved it so much, I had another copy made for my parents. It was the perfect Christmas gift!
