In the quoting process, Erasmo created 4-5 revisions to fit my budgetary needs and accomplish what I wanted. Their programmer care after the install was done and spent a day with me programming everything I wanted. For example, when we get home at night and click the gate button in our car, we now have all the back porch lights and indoor mud room lights turn on to improve safety and comfort. Our blinds are programmed through Control4 as well now and will adjust automatically through the day and evening. We also integrated Alexa so we can do voice commands through the home. I recently moved in to a new (to me) home and wanted to find a company to help me with my…read moretechnology goals. I had previously taken a DIY approach to my A/V and security systems, but wanted to make my new place fully integrated from a technology standpoint. I started researching companies and got quotes from several before making my final decision. I found Kelltech Systems by searching the internet, looking for a Control4 dealer in the Dallas areas. They were Platinum rated by Control4 and had good reviews online, so I gave them a call. Kyle is the lead sales person there and he came out to my home to meet with me in person to talk through what I wanted to accomplish. We discussed options for putting music throughout the home (my home happened to be pre-wired for speakers, but none were installed), surveillance cameras so we could see the perimeter of the house, an alarm system with remote control from an app (alarm.com), and some light home automation including lighting control for some key lights, automated shades for my master bedroom, and thermostat integration. Kyle answered all of my questions on these topics and educated me on some ideas I wasn't aware of (like having the alarm sensors trigger lights to come on when I come home). He sent me a detailed, written proposal a few days later, and made the changes I needed to the proposal so that I could move forward. The install crew that came out was prepared for the work, knew exactly what was to be done, and carried out the work quickly and professionally. They trained me on the system so that I felt comfortable using the features and they left my home very clean, despite having cut in new speakers into the ceiling (a messy job). All that to say, if you're looking for a competent, professional, and friendly company for your A/V and security systems, Kelltech is a great resource. I will say they weren't the cheapest bid I received, but I felt like they understood what I was wanting to accomplish and weren't trying to low-ball me with their proposal. Good work Kelltech!

I put out a request for companies to come by, give me their opinion of what needed to be done with recommendations on equipment. Out of the 4 I interviewed only Robert noted, what might seem like minor things, structural and WiFi issues that might/would affect what I wanted in the end. He came up with suggestions creatively and well within my budget. His first bid was crazy low, I know, weird. I asked him if I gave him 50% more what could he do. He upgraded key components but did not add anything. The original equipment was phenomenal, but the upgrade was unfrickin believable. The images on all TVs and especially the media room are so stunning . The sound, penetrating and enveloping. I do admit, Robert is slow at times responding to texts, calls or emails at first. He has a lot of projects and rightly so. I have had to text twice about post install stuff and he responded immediately, even when on site at another project. On one occasion he dropped everything and came to the house to reset one of the soundbars acting up. If he has availability and you need someone who actually listens to you, digests what you are saying and then implements your vision, not only to perfection, but better, You need Robert Goodall. I appreciate their efforts and time, but once installed they really were not able to problem solve issues. Their final resolve was all 4 of our tvs must have been effected by a power surge, despite all being on surge protectors. Called TV repair guy, who said no way based on channels and sometimes channels work and other times not. Tvs work on channel bands 2-13 and 13 up. Our tvs get clear channels depending on the time of day or tv. Even same time of day, one tv gets clear channel and others don't get it at all. So now we just stream everything clearly.

While very much into two-channel audio listening, my wife and I also wanted the flexibility of employing our fairly high-end audio system for home theater use. Thus the absolute need for rear speakers...along with in-wall wiring and mounting of a new 65" TV. I did a lot of research to help me determine who or what company I'd hire to perform the work. A local company, Quality Smart Homes, was highly recommended by a bunch of people in the Lantana area, so I scheduled them, along with a couple other companies, to come by and work up and estimate. Quality Smart Homes was scheduled first and Derek came by to take a look at our home, inspect the configuration of the attic and chat with me about my options. I was very impressed with Derek's demeanor, respectful politeness, appearance and knowledge. He provided a very reasonable estimate (which he allowed me to modify later in terms of equipment and scope)...the estimate was so reasonable; I made the "buy decision" right then and cancelled other estimate visits. Derek asked the next day if he and Shay (a partner) could make one more quick pre-install visit to look at the attic/room layout. That done, we scheduled for two weeks out (they are busy). I asked for an earlier install to better fit my needs and they said "OK if a Sunday morning was OK with me." It was and I was happy. The install was quick and virtually painless for me and now I've got theater-like surround sound to go with my critical stereo music listening. Anyway, as I write this, I find myself wishing the world was full of companies with people as nice, punctual, friendly, competent and helpful as Derek, Shay with Quality Smart Homes. In our new home, in which we are planning other significant upgrades, we have not had the same level of good luck with vendors in other trades (electricians, shutter installers, masons, landscapers, etc.). We will deal with all that but are so pleased that the home-theater stuff is off our list...and was so easy. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball that "makes your day." This was one of those.
