I hired Custom Pavers & Design for a major backyard renovation project costing approximately $200,000 in 2024, including retaining walls, terraces, drainage, steps and other landscaping work. In March 2026, I discovered that one of the retaining walls was leaning. After discussing the issue with CP&D, they agreed in writing to repair the wall and affected surface under their warranty at no additional cost to me. CP&D also recommended additional drainage work costing $2,265, which I agreed to proceed with and paid a 50% deposit. They also confirmed a five-year warranty for the repair, through June 2031. Unfortunately, the biggest issue has been the repeated delays and missed commitments. The repair was originally scheduled for the week of June 1, 2026. Since then, I have repeatedly followed up with CP&D, and they have provided multiple different dates and commitments regarding when the crew would come and complete the work. Those dates have repeatedly been pushed back. After spending approximately $200,000 with this company, I expected much better follow-through when a problem arose with the work. Instead, I have spent months repeatedly contacting the contractor trying to get a warranty repair and additional drainage work completed. As of August 20 2026, the work is still not finished, after months of delays and repeated changes to the schedule, I cannot recommend Custom Pavers & Design. Because of the ongoing delays and inability to resolve the matter, I have filed a complaint with the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) and provided them with the relevant contract, payment records, correspondence, and photographs for review. I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to warn others about this company. I had a terrible experience working with Custom Pavers. From start to finish it was frustrating and stressful. Their quality of their work is horrible. After their first incompetent team laid the pavers, they were uneven and misaligned. They were then relaid by another team, and while better, they are still not great. The assigned project manager Sebastian, was mostly unavailable, did not respond to texts, would fail to show up when we had arranged to meet or he would show up extremely late. As compensation for all the difficulties with our paver install, Custom Pavers offered to seal our patio for free. Against my better judgment, I agreed to have them do so. They spent about 10 minutes pressure washing the patio in preparation for the sealer, and it was clearly insufficient. They then applied some type of chemical to remove a stain and it left a huge discoloration (much worse than the original stain) that looks like spilled white paint. At that point, I fired them and decided to cut my losses before they made matters any worse. I am now left with a substandard project that will need to be repaired/redone. Definitely do not hire this company. read more

Who can say that about a sales call? We came up with a design to replace our failing retaining wall with a wall and 3 locations for steps that we were very excited about. While the project manager for our project was unexpectedly out of the office during most of our project, the owners Naz and Ben stepped in to ensure things went smoothly. I was especially impressed with Naz's communications. She was extremely responsive, listened well, and communicated simply and clearly. The project started later than expected and took longer than expected, but that can happen with construction projects. Carlos, who did all the work on the project by himself, was amazing. We appreciated his architectural approach, and the integrity in which he worked. It was unfortunate that 3 aspects of the original design had to be changed due to topography, but Carlos was able to make things work. Custom Pavers replaced our two concrete patios and wooden deck with two beautiful paver patios. Also they replaced our failing railroad tie retaining wall with a concrete block retaining wall. The estimator, Steele, created a clear detail estimate where the projected price was the final price. The hard working, experienced work crew consisted of Tico and his two sons. At the start of the project, the project manager, had a walk through with myself and Tico where we discussed the scope of the work. Following the demo, the project manager had another walk through where we marked off the outline of the patios to be constructed. During the project, the project manager was not present most of the time. I thought this might be a problem, however with Tico being very experienced, he did not require supervision. The owner, Ben, stopped by several times to inspect the progress and at the end to verify that we were happy with the results. His wife Naz, was also good at answering our questions and passing on our concerns. Overall, we are very pleased with the results...our patios look great! read more

Terrible Contractor, taking them to court a second time. In 2016 I entrusted Custom Pavers & Design with a 20K+ project at my residence. The execution of that project was sheer misery from the beginning, so much so that midway throughout the project I decided to fire Custom Pavers & Design. The owner persuaded me to give him another chance to finish the work. Out of the goodness of my heart I did give him another chance, a decision I regret every day. In 2017, after many fruitless attempts to get Custom Pavers & Design to stand by their work I had no other choice but to turn to the court of law. I sued Custom Pavers & Design and won the case. The nasty behavior of this contractor in the court of law didn't help their defense at all. The court awarded me a full judgement against this contractor. Contentious to the end, this contractor satisfied the judgement only after his license was temporarily suspended by WA State Department of Labor and Industry. Needless to say, that judgement was in relation to a specific complaint and as such has no bearing on any future claims that may arise under the 25-year warranty issued by the contractor. It goes without saying, that I would love nothing more than not to have any warranty issues with this contractor but unfortunately it is not the case. Presently I am faced with several of them, including one of the anchoring concrete edges that has seriously caved in and there is now a loose bullnose paver in the middle of a step in a high foot traffic area, which is frequently used by delivery drivers. These issues and their repair are clearly identified as covered by the warranty issued to me by Custom Pavers & Design. And so I contacted this contractor to report these issues, noting that the loose bullnose paver, located in a high foot traffic area, was a hazard and could become a liability for me if not promptly repaired. Not hearing back from Custom Pavers & Design, I contacted them again, and again and again. All of my calls and emails were ignored. This is unconscionable. As I have no other recourse, I will be taking this contractor to court again. This time, however, I will also be taking this matter to the Attorney General of WA State since I firmly believe that Custom Pavers & Design, while issuing a warranty, had no intention whatsoever of ever honoring it. There are 20 more years left under this warranty and I am fully prepared to hold this contractor accountable each and every time I have to. read more

As a woman managing this alone and someone who was gaining experience, I appreciated the respect, excellent communication, design assistance and advice, ensuring product choices in person, supervision, problem solving that inevitably happens during execution, and follow-up when I had questions. This Spring (2016), we contracted with Custom Pavers & Design, LLC, to work with us to design and build a small patio (112 sq ft) in our front yard. We drew up a sketch of what we wanted it to look like, and Ben Paul, the owner, worked closely with us on the implementation details. It wasn't just a simple job because the patio had to be installed on a slight slope. Now that the project is done, it came out exactly as we designed it and we couldn't be more thrilled.
