We had put out request for multiple bids, in the end Chris and Blake did a great job on explaining how they could address some of the challenging aspects of our ~1 acre block (trees, rocks, uneven ground etc). They were willing to manage a lot more of the work than other companies at a similar price point, instead of me hiring a separate landscaper. Louis, Oscar and the others in the crew then came out and did the work. They were courteous and polite the entire time, including working with my neighbour and I on placement and other details. There were a few questions they had, due to the contours of the property, which I appreciate them confirming with me vs just doing what they felt was right. This wasn't something that could be noted in advance, as they had to blaze through bushes/trees first and led to an outcome we were pleased with. Update on August 6th here since I can't reply to the owner's response directly. Paulo's response is unfortunately utterly lies. 1) We have email and phone records showing you made one call to us during the project onsite, not "multiple efforts" as you mentioned. We had never "declined to engage with your team during the process". Your company, on the other hand, disengaged when asked to discuss the fence issues. Attached an email evidence show your crew failed to respond to our requests. 2) It was on a busy work day for us when your crew was onsite. We had zero expectation that we would be needed onsite, given that we had already laid out the expectations in the contract after the initial consultation. If anyone thinks about hiring this company, please look at Paulo's response to me, and prepare to take time off to make sure to supervise their crew for them. 3) Your attorney Olsen made it clear to us that he was not interested in further litigating for you on the case. At no point our attorney dis-engaged. Again there are also phone and email records. This is reaching even a lower point with plain lies to deceive future customers. read more

We are so happy with our new custom fence! This was not a "typical" job. It is a small yard that wraps around the back and sides of the house. We needed some areas to have privacy fencing, and some to have a picket with space between the boards, 4 gates, some pieces to connect to existing fencing, and some of the fence to sit on top of a retaining wall. The fence came out beautifully and totally meets our needs. They were very responsive when we needed the estimate and fully designed proposal. Contour Fence knocked it out of the park for us with this project! Chris came out and did an estimate beforehand with drawings and measurements to help determine exactly what we wanted and needed for our fencing project. He asked questions and clarified the needs we had and provided answers to our questions as well as letting us know what we needed to do to prepare for the project (we had a section going through a piece of greenbelt and needed to 'level' a 55' line for the fencing). The fence is constructed with hog wire and wood and is exactly what we wanted! Two custom gates also allow for access at the upper portion to go into the forest greenbelt and access from the front with a wide gate allowing for most equipment to fit through. Attention to detail in keeping the fence as close to the ground as possible to prevent rabbits and smaller animals from sneaking in as well. The fence follows the contour of the land which creates a smooth, clean line at the top of the fence rather than a jagged up and down. Will last for a very long time and help keep the deer out of the food forest we are creating. We could not be happier and HIGHLY recommend Contour Fence to anyone looking for fencing needs! read more

Like so many before us who've hired Contour Fence NW, we want to reflect on the work we received from this business. Throughout the process, we've experienced highs and lows. From the initial paperwork to scheduling, to installation, and reinstallation, and reinstallation, before finalizing payment. The work performed was not 5-stars, because to achieve this status, the business would need to arrive on time, do the work right the first time, and provide a positive customer experience. It's worth mentioning the installers were friendly, the administrative staff helpful, and the resolution to any issues was satisfied. But, the fact remains, they did not perform the work right the first time. We understand Contour Fence NW will not appreciate a lower than 5-star review. But the fact remains, they failed to communicate updates to schedule, failed their initial installation attempt, but also showed a willingness to make it right when it was clear they made mistakes. Putting it simply, based on prior reviews, this is not the same Contour Fence from a few years ago. Your individual experience may vary and we encourage you to consider them, if this is your first time getting a fence installed. Breakdown. -1 Customer Service - Scheduling. This is mostly associated with schedule changes and issue resolution. +1 Installation & Time. 50/50. This includes fencing and gates. +1 Customer Service - Issue Resolution. +1 Materials. +1 Workmanship. Overall, would I go with Contour Fence NW again? If the work is done right and scheduling impasses are not a factor, then yes. But I want it known, based on the reviews I've seen a couple years prior, this is a business that cares, especially when repeat mistakes are made. But as I stated, like a chipped diamond, the work performed was not 5 star. Background. In mid-July, we selected Contour Fence NW for our installation. Having declared any special requirements, Contour Fence NW asked us to pay 50% upfront to cover materials and labor. Besides 50% upfront, they presented us with a contract that provided many consumer rights and responsibilities. Finally, we were informed we would receive a confirmed date in early August. By mid-August, with no confirmed date, we reached out and were confirmed for September 7th, barring any scheduling challenges associated with weather. The last week in August, we received a confirmation of September 7th. On September 7th, approximately noon, we reached out to Contour Fence NW and were told the date had moved back to September 8th. 3/4 into the conversation, the representative apologized but it was clear someone failed to call us back as promised to reschedule. September 8th, the installers arrived, contacted us by knocking on the door, and proceeded with the work. Halfway through the initial work, they asked for confirmation on the installation of the gates, which we confirmed. During this process, we discussed height concerns, which never made it into the notes, and also anchoring the posts to the house. Last, a last-minute change was accepted regarding our decorative lattice dimensions. September 9th, with the posts secured and fence framing and gate posts installed, they proceeded with installing the fence. Three-quarters through the fence installation, we left to run errands, with the understanding completion would be reviewed by us later, even if no one from Contour Fence NW was present. We would like to make it known Contour addressed our initial gate height concern by including additional material at no cost. September 9th, late-afternoon/early evening, we reviewed the finished work and discovered a flaw in the design associated with one of our gates. We immediately contacted Contour Fence NW. September 12th, we explained and sent over photos of the issue. Someone came out and addressed the issue not by replacing the gate but addressed the clearance (from the ground to the bottom of the gate) by simply lowering the gate. Mid-way through the week of September 12th, we finally escalated to the owner when we felt the representative was not addressing the issue. As a small business, this caught the representative and the owner off-guard, but they understood the basis for this escalation, called their speciality installer out, and addressed the issue beautifully. We recognize we could've repeatedly reached out to the same representative we'd been working with. However, between the upfront cost, the language in the contract, the lack of scheduling change communication, and repeatedly back-and-forth to correct the gate, this seemed the quickest way to get things done. read more

Contour fence finished a recent project for my house. Over all they did a good job. I would recommend them for a fence project but advise to get more details upfront. Positives: -Onsite team, Louis was great and did the job well -Overall communication was great from both Chris and Blake -The final fence looks good, we did horizontal on the front and vertical on the side. -The scheduling was hard and they were 2 days late to our project which made it a bit hard to line up with my work schedule but they got the job done in the 3 days time they promised Could Improve: -The quote was clear, although our neighbors were given a discount and we were not so make sure to check. Also the details on the design of the horizontal fence were not there. If you are looking for a specific design make sure to clarify this at the time of quote, I was a bit annoyed by the onsite manager giving me exorbitant numbers for any minor changes like 1000$ for the gate instead of 250$ if I wanted an extra 2 2x4 bars in there to make it thicker. While its understandable that onsite changes could cost extra they should be reasonable specially when pictures of the gate were not in my quote. -Cleanup was not very well done there were a couple of nails etc left in different places - The pillars of the horizontal fence are not as close to the house as I thought so the fence boards float extending outside the last pillar to cover the gap to the house (things I did not think about clarifying before the project but are more obvious after). read more

Our neighbors are getting a fence built with Contour. We share a property line and the employees are in our yard which is fine. Then the workmen started using our resources like our water, electricity and blocked our driveway without our permission. We are happy to work with our neighbor as this fence is beneficial for one side of our property as well. However, Its extremely unprofessional of the employees to use our power, water, our wheelbarrow and to park us in without asking or authorization as this is not the best way to represent the company. I would hope that the employees would have access to the materials they need to do the job without intruding on the neighbors and using things that cost money (at our expense) and park their vehicles at the job site not next door on private property. I'm expecting this not to be a reoccurring issue as this job progresses. read more
