I found a great bench at a flea market but it needed entirely new upholstery. I brought in my own fabric to save some money but it was too thin. They lined the fabric for me free of charge! I had a couch that needed new webbing installed. I had called in to get a quote, and though I dont know much about upholstery it seemed like a fair price. I brought it in, and it was ready 3 days latter. The cool thing is, I agreed to a price thinking I was getting the webbing hammered in, because I didnt know they could match the original clips with the antique couch. Turns out, they fit the webbing with the clips, so no new holes or hammering was done to my old couch frame, keeping it more in line with its vintage syle. Way Cool. read more

I recently bought a sofa at a local church yard sale for my kids' game room...it was in great shape but the fabric was dated and unattractive. I had driven by Custom Slipcover & Upholstery several times on my way to the DeKalb Farmers Market and thought I would give them a try, since I like to support local businesses when I can. The signs are clear and direct you back a long driveway that leads back to a little oasis - they have a bunch of beautiful raised beds where they are growing all sorts of vegetables outside. Follow the signs inside and you'll be met by Miguel or one of the other employees (and at least one dog!), who are very friendly. I had Miguel come to my car and look at my sofa, then he took me back inside to see the fabric they keep in stock. They don't have a ton of options, but I found one I liked and the price per yard was outstanding - probably half what I would have paid at Lewis & Sheron or one of the other Atlanta fabric stores. Using that fabric price, Miguel quoted me a very fair price for the work. The best part - he said it would be ready in about three weeks! I was expecting 6-8. I picked up the sofa this week and I'm thrilled with the work. The seams and cording are super tight and precise, and the pillows and seat cushion are very well done. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! My chair pads ended up at this firm through East Atlanta Stripping who was refinishing a mahogany dining room set I inherited. I dropped off my fabric and was a bit 'surprised' by the cost. Well, I rec'd the furniture yesterday and oh my stars - BEAUTIFUL! And the chair seats... absolutely EXQUISITE craftsmanship. Not only is the padding firm and thick, but the fabric is beautifully tight on the pad. But more than that, these craftsmen balanced the stripes from chair to chair, giving an overall cohesiveness that is just superb! Pros: The do a good job making your furniture like almost like new. Cons: 1) Not cheap, but OK considering the work they deliver. 2) It takes a long time. They promised me 2-3 weeks, and I am still waiting for couple of pieces to be delivered. It will be a month in a day since they were all picked up. 3) The owner does not respond. I had to go in person 2-3 times in order to get an answer on the status of the job. Overall it has been a timely and frustrating project with way too many follow ups to get an answer. Unless you are prepared for that, consider elsewhere. read more

Best Price, Fantastic Quality, Really Quick Turnaround (really quick) We had 3 cushions for a couch/chair that were "dimpling" too much. We went to another popular place in Atlanta first but their solution (cost) and timing didn't work for us (they outsource). We came across Custom Slipcover and Upholstery by google search alone and we are beyond happy with the outcome. Miguel gave us two options - both priced well but one more affordable than the other. We chose the more affordable option but the quality of the repair was exactly what we wanted. To say we are excited with how much better our couch looks is an understatement. No more dimpling - we have clean lines on our couch again and the cushions are more comfortable. Also, since the repair was done onsite with materials they had we got it back in 48 hours. If you've had any upholstery/cushion repair type work done before you'll understand how big of a deal that turnaround time is. Most places quote you 2-4 weeks. Miguel and Chean and their crew are the absolute best. I have turned to them for 12 years or more, asking them to make everything from custom pillows to slipcovers and upholstery. They ALWAYS do a fantastic job and with superb professionalism. I often have very specific things I ask them to do with trim or welting, and they never fail to get it right. I am amazed at how they can take a few yards of fabric and turn it into a treasure -- I am always so thrilled to pick up the finished product! The prices are great, their work ethic is above reproach, and they are friendly and always deliver on time. That is why you see so many great reviews of their shop -- once you go to Custom, you will never go anywhere else. Recently, I walked in on a very hot day, and the workroom was jam packed. I asked one of they guys -- Lee Roy -- if there was any way they could make a quick slip cover for my mother's wicker rocker. I am moving out-of-state, and I wanted Custom to do the work before I leave. I knew it might be hard for them to work it in, but Lee Roy cheerfully said they would work it in within a week. I took in fabric for a round tablecloth, and the lady who helped me asked for the height and diameter of the table. She called me the very next day to pick it up, and I paid by check. Once home, the tablecloth turned out to be too big in every direction. I took it back the next day and said there must have been a mistake, and she said I'd given her the wrong dimensions. I'm an architect, and pretty confident about measuring the height and diameter of a table, but I was very polite - I hated asking her to fix the mistake. We measured the tablecloth, and it was indeed too big. She told me she'd fix it if I paid for it over again, and I awkwardly stuttered that that didn't seem fair. She shouted that I'd wasted her time, made a mess of her shop, and made trouble, and she demanded that I get out and never come back again. She did give me back my check (which I wasn't even going to muster the courage to ask for), so at least there's that. I hope my fabric is still salvageable. It was a big waste of time and a pretty terrible experience. I feel okay about leaving an honest negative review, since apparently I'm banned for life anyway. read more

I can't say enough good things about this company. I had four old patio cushions that were weathered and torn up by the neighborhood cats. I'd looked for replacements but they all didn't fit my chairs or the fabric was totally ugly. I decided a reupholstery of the cushions would be best. I'd found a green umbrella with brown designs in it. When Hancock Fabrics was going out of business I found green and brown outdoor fabric of the same make and texture. I had Custom Slipcover & Upholstery make two of the cushions brown with green piping and the other two chairs green with brown piping. The owner adding additional touches to it and they turned out better than I had anticipated. They are beautiful. I am so glad I'd chosen them to do the upholstery for me. They do not listen to your instructions. I picked up a pair of chairs that had odd seams for no reason. Also, we had agreed they would repair the frame of the chairs and replace parts where necessary. Instead I got back glued parts with visible screws. They did not make any adjustment to the bill. I took a small arm chair, that I received from my mother-in-law's estate, in for reupholstery. I picked out some fabric and just asked that they recover it. I wish I had taken a "before" picture because no one would believe it was the same chair. They did such a wonderful job updating it, adding extra padding, and cleaning up the wooden legs. My daughter (16 years old, who when she saw the chair before it went for upholstery said I don't want that!) put it in her room and sits in it ALL the time. I decided to have an old couch recovered after receiving a very reasonable estimate from Custom and finding a great piece of linen in stock at their location. I am a custom workroom in the Atlanta area, and I was working on a project for a client and I needed some webbing to complete the job. I recently had two antique chairs and an antique bench recovered and they did a great job! The project took less time than they initially told me and I am very happy with the results. The fabric on the two chairs is patterned and they did an awesome job matching the pattern on different sections of the chairs so that the fabric is consistent.
