Our kitchen was in need of a face lift after we built our home in 1998. The kitchen cabinet doors were warped and the hinges, knobs and handles were badly worn. But the cabinets themselves were in perfect condition since we upgraded them to birch instead of oak during construction. I had been researching getting just new doors and after many quotes it seemed impossible. Many of the companies that quoted us told us that we needed a full remodel which would be in the $50k range. Finally I found Custom Wood Cabinet Refacing and connected with Ray Liston. He asked me for pictures and after setting an appointment he came out with some door samples. The doors were exceptionally well made. We chose the honey maple with glazing to get a 2 dimensional effect with the existing birch cabinets. I ordered the cabinets in April and installation day was June 16th. Prior to that Ray came back with a sample door to make sure I was happy. Then I had the task of finding new knobs and handles which I decided to play up the stainless trim on my appliances and my stove. On installation day some drawer fronts were missing but Jack quickly acted on this and completed the job...less than one week later. To say that we are happy is an understatement. It has given our kitchen the facelift it needed and with the lighting and granite countertops we installed this year you can now see the beauty of the kitchen!! Run to this company and save yourself money!!! If you have imagination and want to give your kitchen a facelift at a fraction of what a new kitchen costs you have found the right company. Custom Wood Cabinet Refacing Pending Review 04-13-21 Review: DO NOT HIRE PERIOD! Jack the co-owner ( Installer ) showed up on a Monday morning to start work and as he brought in his equipment I asked him and his worker to wear masks there was a bit of grumbling but they complied. I then asked Jack are you going to protect my floors because they are new. Jack replied â well if I have to? They actually showed up unprepared to protect the floor and had to go to Home Depot to purchase cardboard to cover the floor. Whenever I asked Jack questions he would laugh HA HA HA HA and never answer my question. There also was a short section of wall that I asked Jack about and he would reply ( I don't do walls ) I had discussed this section with Ray his partner when they did the estimate. So I called Ray and he never discussed the fact I called him with Jack about the wall. There was NO communication about anything during this process. Jack was the most obnoxious contractor I have ever dealt with in my life. So unprofessional they left a huge mess on my walls and trampled this into my rugs going to my basement. I have photos where they screwed the drawers together with half of the screws sticking out and sharp on the inside where you put your hands. The last straw was when I went into the basement bathroom both drop rugs were ruined and there was SHIT all over the back of the toilet seat that we had to clean up. I researched different cabinet refacing companies, and found Custom Wood Cabinet Refacing on another site (Home Advisor). That site had good reviews and I decided to go forward to get an estimate. Ray came to my home, and listened to what I wanted in regard to updating my cabinets. He was very respectful, and suggested certain products, and was very detailed on what they would provide regarding installation. He gave me a quote, and was not aggressive for me to sign immediately, which I was very happy with. I had previously received a quote from Home Depot (rep was very very pushy and quote was ridiculously high), and Ray's quote was substantially lower, so I made decision to move forward. Ray's partner Jack did the installation, along with his assistant. Jack explained the installation process and gave me a timeline (one week 'Monday thru Friday'), which he stood by. Was very respectful in my home, and also coordinated installation of a quartz countertop, which was also installed in that installation week. Overall, I am very impressed with Ray and Jack and their professionalism, and knowledge of proper cabinet refacing, and their genuine concern that I was happy with the project, which I am very very very happy with the end result. Every time I walk into my kitchen, I feel like I had completely new cabinets installed, and it's still hard to believe that cabinet refacing completed in a week, would have this wonderful result! We needed a new kitchen. All of our cabinets were original to the house and showing the wear and tear of 19 years of use by an active family. Ray (the salesman) is awesome. Very quick to respond and fair with pricing. If it was just working with Ray, this would be a 4* review or better. Jack (the one you will work with 80% of the time and who installs the cabinets) unfortunately does NOT have good communication skills. There were weeks where he wouldn't return our calls or texts, and when he did, the response was often confusing and not specific enough. We gave them our downpayment for refacing the cabinets at the very beginning of May, we were quoted 6-8 weeks to order the cabinet faces - totally understandable. They JUST finished this week ...September 4 to be exact because they didn't get our glass cabinet door glazed in time and one of the doors arrived incredibly dented and had to be replaced. In the period of time between May and Sept, there was hardly any communication. Additionally, Jack has a very low attention to detail. Doors are not lined up in places and because we had white faces installed, my wife and I had to take paint and cover up the blemishes where the cut lines from the veneer were showing. The price was right, but in retrospect I would have paid more for another cabinet refacer to save on the lack of communication/scheduling issues and to improve the final product.. Again, Ray is awesome, but it's not worth going with them to have to deal with Jacks terrible communication skills. read more

Our cabinets were 25 years old and in need of serious updating. On the recommendation of a relative who CWCR did work for, we explored the possibility of the just refacing the cabinets because of cost. Long and short is that CWCR does excellent work at a reasonable price and we are extremely satisfied. Also, they suggested and built for us a new wine rack/cabinet bar area which looks great. CWCR also did a complete quartz countertop installation which we are very pleased with. As other relatives and friends see our new kitchen, they have been amazed at the transformation.
