Suzanne's massage therapy will change your life. I fractured the neck of my femur bone in early January. I started physical therapy and quickly used up all my allowable PT visits but was nowhere near ready to stop doing physical therapy. I figured if I was going to pay out of pocket for PT, then I mine as well pursue therapeutic massage therapy and do the exercises at home on my own time. Enter Suzanne. I have been seeing Suzanne about once a week for over a month for targeted therapy on my legs. In some cases it extends to my low back, glutes, pelvic, hips, etc but it all just depends on what's happening with my body in any given week. This woman works magic. I leave her studio pain free and feeling muscles I didn't even know existed. The work she's doing on me hurts and is not relaxing but my goodness has it completely changed my recovery. I'm sure she offers relaxing, gentle massage work too, but if you really want to invest in body work then just let her do her thing because you won't regret it. Here's the catch... she's a very popular lady and is often booked out 4-5 months. I have no idea how I managed to get on her schedule but I have to believe the universe aligned and made room for me when I needed her most. Well, this is going to sound redundant, because Suzanne almost always gets 5-Star reviews. I came to her with mild shoulder tendonitis and shoulder blade knots; her techniques are amazing. She truly understands muscle physiology, and worked out the issues like I have never felt before. The knots released, and the bodywork allowed for my shoulder to heal extremely well. OMG!!! Suzanne is AMAZING!!! I don't mean to sound like a gushy schoolboy but this girl has hands that make any knot or tight muscle surrender to her touch, even the ones you didn't know were there! Alright, let me back up a bit. First, a little history: I'm pretty new to this area so I had to start from scratch looking for a good massage. I'm no stranger to massages and generally like very deep tissue massages. Unfortunately, most providers who claim to do deep tissue actually don't. Either they don't know how or they don't want to put in the effort to get really deep. I know it's not easy. So when I came across Suzanne, I had my normal, healthy dose of skepticism. I had to schedule a couple of weeks out because our schedules just didn't jive. When I got to her home studio, I was pleasantly surprised at how nicely appointed it was. Very cozy but still business-like. She greeted me at the door with a smile and had me complete the paperwork to determine what areas needed attention. As she escorted me to the massage studio, I was pleased to see the space was large enough to move around comfortably without feeling tok large. Nice sound system played the music, instead of some little Bluetooth speakers. I like good audio so that was another plus for me. She went to work on my muscles with meticulous detail. Her technique is about difference than I'm accustomed to as she doesn't normally use oil but prefers a cream instead. She says it helps her to feel the skin more and helps add a bit of tension to her motions. I can truly say that she worked deeper into the tightness of my shoulders and back than any other therapist I've had! My muscles haven't felt that much relief in years!! She made pleasant conversation most of the time unless she got to a trouble spot and started to focus on her efforts. Positively glorious!! Amazing! Susan does a great job of figuring what's wrong with you, and why it is you're so keyed up and hurting. I tend to carry a lot of my stress in my neck, hands and upper skull. She does a specific form of massage known as craniosacral therapy. While it has always struck me as a little "hippie" for my tastes, let me tell you brother, that stuff works! I walked out feeling over an inch taller, and the pain of riding hard for a few days was gone. She also has an IR sauna. I went to her once for a massage when I was sick. Like dying of SARS sick. She stuck me in this thing for an hour, let me sweat the evil out, and then gave me a massage to get the rest of the toxins in my system out. I felt 100% the next day. Don't ask me how she does it, but she does. The prices at Customized are lower than what they should be. Every time I have walked out feeling a lot better, and that for me is something I cannot put a price on. If you're in Reno, and you're looking for a REAL (read: NOT a stripper giving your junk a rub down for the "happy ending") massage, go see Susan. I've received a lot of extraordinarily skilled bodywork, including a Rolfing series. And I have a little training in Thai massage. I called Suzanne after I'd tweaked my neck so badly that I could barely put on a shirt. I'd seen the previous reviewer praise her craniosacral work (a big plus imo) but told her that I needed something less subtle. A few yoga sessions between the call and the appointment mostly resolved the neck pain, so I was looking forward to receiving pleasant if not necessarily therapeutic touch. What happened instead was a shock. Suzanne found an old knot under my shoulder blade that I've been working with for a very long time (shiatsu, thera-cane, rolling with a hard rubber ball, years of meditation retreats in which I breathed into that spot when it was the only tension left). She patiently held it with firm pressure and gentle encouragement and somehow, some way, it released. I'd been unable to meet that pain or force it out. The knot hadn't caused chronic pain and it wouldn't necessarily have occurred to me to seek treatment. But I knew there was some old holding there and Suzanne's kind intention and skill found a way in. In response to her follow-up "how have you been feeling" text I wrote "ongoing psychophysical transformation". May it be so for you, dear reader, though I suppose it's now a bit harder for her to surprise you. She's very responsive by text message. The studio and her treatment room have a calm and pleasant vibe. Street parking is easy. read more

Suzanne helped me when no one else could, I'm currently experiencing the longest stretch of pain free mornings since I had my back surgery 4 years ago. Suzanne is a delight. She has a great up beat disposition and is fun to be around. She is VERY good at massage and is able to "customize" the time to best suit your needs. My wife absolutely loves going here. Matter of fact, if we lived closer, we would be on a monthly plan. My wife is constantly comparing other massages to those she receives from Suzanne!
