I am beyond disgusted with the way my 75 year old mother was treated at Reno Massage and Reflexology. Yesterday, when I called to schedule an appointment, I told them my mother was 75 years old. I was told they could not give her a massage because she was "too old." They had never seen her, never asked about her medical history, and never asked whether she had medical clearance. They simply refused based on her age. I told them my mother is healthy and that her age alone should not determine whether she could receive a massage. Today, they agreed to see her. Before the massage even started, my mother burped once. The staff immediately said that if she was "ill," we would have to pay for the full hour. I explained that she was not sick. She had simply burped. Less than 10 minutes into the massage, the therapist stopped the massage and claimed my mother was ill. I immediately asked my mother how she felt, and she told me she felt perfectly fine and wanted to continue the massage. I told the therapist that my mother was not sick and wanted to finish the appointment. The therapist refused and walked away. The therapist repeatedly claimed there was something wrong with my mother's nose. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my mother's nose, and my mother was not ill. When I asked both the receptionist and the massage therapist for their names, they refused to identify themselves. I requested their names multiple times, and they still refused. Their refusal can be verified by the business's security cameras. I then photographed the massage licenses displayed at the business to identify the employees involved because they would not provide their names when asked. The names displayed were Chunfang Wu and Yuqi Li. What was just as upsetting as the treatment itself was the complete lack of customer service and accountability. When a customer has a legitimate concern, refusing to identify yourself, refusing to answer questions, and simply walking away is unacceptable. My mother was humiliated and treated with a complete lack of dignity and respect. She was denied service yesterday because they said she was "too old," and today her massage was abruptly ended even though she repeatedly said she felt perfectly well and wanted to continue. This experience was unprofessional, disrespectful, and deeply upsetting. No customer, especially a 75 year old woman, should be judged solely because of her age, embarrassed over a single burp, or have a massage terminated despite repeatedly stating she felt fine. I will never return to this business, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. Everyone hid to avoid giving me their name. With this type of unprofessionalism and lack of customer service this business is doomed to go out of business soon. read more

I've been to this massage spa multiple times, and this is the first time I've ever experienced something like this. Unfortunately, this experience completely changed my opinion of your business. Before I came in, I specifically called to ask if there was an available female therapist for a 90-minute massage. The receptionist confirmed that both were available, so I made the trip expecting exactly what I had requested. When I arrived, I was suddenly told that only a 60-minute massage was available. I reminded the receptionist that I had called ahead and was assured that a 90-minute appointment with a female therapist was available. I was disappointed, but I agreed to move forward anyway. A couple walked in and requested a 90-minute massage, and they were accommodated immediately. That made the situation feel incredibly unfair. If 90-minute appointments were available for them, why wasn't the same courtesy extended to me after I had called ahead and confirmed my appointment? Eventually, I was told they could accommodate my 90-minute massage after all. However, what happened next was completely unacceptable. A few minutes after I was taken to the room and had already undressed, a male therapist walked into my room(which the receptionist never mentioned regarding this). I had specifically requested a female therapist because that is what I am comfortable with, and that request had already been confirmed over the phone. At that moment, I felt embarrassed, shocked, and completely disrespected. My privacy and dignity were not respected. When the male therapist walked out of the room, he left the door open while I was completely naked on the massage table. It was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. It made me feel exposed and distracted. Privacy and respect should always be a priority during a massage. To make matters even worse, the receptionist later told me that the only female therapist who was available for a 60-minute massage had already gone home. That was incredibly frustrating. If she had simply told me from the beginning that the 90-minute massage would be with a male therapist, I would have chosen the 60-minute massage with the female therapist instead. I was never given that option. The communication in English was very poor, which made the situation even more confusing. You should hire a receptionist who can communicate clearly in English and explain the available options properly so customers can make an informed decision. Better communication could have prevented this entire situation. As a returning customer, I expected professionalism, respect, and clear communication. Instead, I experienced confusion, inconsistent information, and a complete disregard for my clearly stated preference. No customer should have to go through something like this, especially after taking the time to call ahead and confirm the details before arriving. I understand that mistakes can happen, but what matters is how a business handles them. Unfortunately, this situation was handled very poorly. I left feeling frustrated, disrespected, and as though my time and comfort didn't matter. Because of this experience, I have lost confidence in your business. It's disappointing because I had trusted your spa enough to return multiple times, but after this experience, I will not be coming back. I also cannot recommend your massage spa to my friends, family, or anyone looking for a professional and respectful experience. I genuinely hope you take customer feedback seriously and improve your scheduling, communication, and respect for customers' preferences and privacy so that no one else has to experience what I did. After the massage once I returned to the front desk, the masseuse was there to offer a cup of water. This place is hit and miss. Mostly miss. We're always looking for a good massage place and I've decided this isn't it. We've been here 3 times now. The first time was... ok at best. The massage therapist was strong enough but didn't have any fluidity to the massage. Kinda all over the place, not to mention a little chatty with the other therapist in the room. The second visit was better. I had a guy and he was strong and did a pretty good job which is why we decided to come back for now the 3rd time. Both my husband and I had female therapists. They spoke very little to no English, which usually isn't a problem but mine kept asking me things in Chinese and I didn't understand what she asked. Sophie is a petite lady with very powerful hands. Her 2 decades of experience showed when she hit all the critical spots skillfully. I feel brand new as a result. I get massages often and she is definitely one of a very few who actually fixed a problem as opposed to the typical temporary relief. I'll be looking for her whenever I return to Reno. I took my girlfriend here on a last minute whim at 9am after we pulled an all nighter and had an appointment for Raptor Adventures at 1130am. We were both expecting a mediocre to decent at best deep tissue massage since this was obviously not a real spa. Their website encourages the customer to book and choose their massage therapist online. So my girlfriend and I looked at the options and she wanted someone strong and her options were Tony, Mike or Frank. She booked Tony. I wanted a female therapist and my options were Wendy, Jenny, Ling and Summer. I booked Jenny. When we arrived the front desk lady was rude and the massage therapists were 15 minutes late for our 9am appointment. They put us in a couples room without asking if we wanted a couples massage. We were okay with that but they just assumed we were a couple. Turns out there were only 2 therapists... Tony was also Mike or Frank and Jenny could have been Wendy, Ling or Summer. My girlfriend said Tony (Mike/Frank) did a great job and was a solid massage therapist. But Jenny tried to massage my spine with her elbows. She had no clue what she was doing. I had to tell her multiple times to stay off the spine. It was the worst massage I've ever had and she was obviously not trained properly. Luckily my girlfriend was playing some music with good bass. I called two other massage places before coming across this one on Yelp and I am glad they were able to accommodate a couple's massage and facial for my boyfriend and I. A woman took care of my boyfriend and a man took care of me. I have nothing but good things to say about the service I received from the man (I didn't see his name tag so I didn't get a name but he's great!). First, I've never received a facial from a man before but he was so good! I've had facials elsewhere where I've had soap residue leftover and water dripping down my face but not here. I could tell he was careful to check how my skin was feeling and I really appreciated it. The massage was great too! I was really sore after visiting and skiing/tubing and he was able to make me feel good as new again. My boyfriend said, "It was good, I liked it, 5 stars." Hahahaha! I also am not one to pay for a $200 massage for that "oooo la la spa" massage, just to leave like I wasn't even touched. I workout quite a bit and I can tell when my body just NEEDS help. You get to choose whether you want male or female doing your massage. Their price is fair. They always ask you if the massage is too hard or not, you can kind-of choose how hard you want it to be.
