This place is horrible. Cheryl was extremely unprofessional. I had asked her to dye my hair red and to add clip ins and she mislead me in believing she had experience with extensions, when it was her first time. When she dyed my hair, she left pink dye on my ears and looked very sloppy. She charged me close to $600 to dye my hair, buy the extensions and to dye the clip ins and they came out horrible. They did not blend into my hair due to the extensions being too bright pink, when Cheryl was the one who dyed my hair in the first place. She had 5 clients in there at once, all waiting for her and I was in her chair for 5 hours to do a simple blow out, flat iron and add extensions. She was texting and talking on the phone and all the delays caused a parking ticket and I missed my plans for the day. I asked her to fix her mistakes and she wanted me to go out of my way to give her the hair back. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. read more

I've lived in Oakland 10 years and I've had a hard time finding a good stylist my fault for going to the least expensive places and barber shops. those other folks were OK, but they didn't blow me away like Charlotte at Cuts n Stuff has. Charlotte and her stylist were warm and welcoming from the moment I stepped in. I had a few photos to show Charlotte what I wanted. She kindly informed me we don't call it "shag" anymore, it's a sophisticated "long layered look" now. Charlotte knew exactly what to do and expertly freed me from about a pound of long straight, unimaginative ponytail hair. She also had some recommendations for making my grays pop in a prettier way. I left Cut's n Stuff that day with the best hair style I've had in 10 years, accentuating my natural wavy hair. So of course I'll be coming back for trims to keep it perfect. Plus points for having an ear hook mask for me when I showed up with my head hugging N95 mask. The place is well set up with fans, filters, and dividers to help reduce the risk of Covid transmission. I first reviewed Cuts N Stuff in August 2008 and continue to be a fan of Charlotte's. The shop is comfortable and stylish; any children in the shop are well-behaved and quiet; and Charlotte's service is professional and friendly. My current hair is a lace wig which Charlotte applies with precision. I like to mess with my hair between visits, maybe switch wigs or try new products...sometimes Charlotte has to rescue me (LOL). She can work with people like me AND people who have her do everything for them. She is very flexible and supports what the client wants. I like that Charlotte is always researching and trying new products to recommend to clients. If you're thinking of a lace wig you should know that there are many adhesives and what works for some people won't work for others. There's no way to know except by trial. Charlotte knows the adhesives because she's researched them and can help with that process. As for the comments from her sister Beverly, well all I can say is sometimes family can be the weight trying to pull you down when all you're doing is trying to live a good and righteous life. Charlotte is amazing! I haven't been back since I've been he from school, but my she had my hair laid when I was in high school. My aunt Sandra is a regular, and brought me here. My hair even with a relaxer was flourishing. Trust me when I say I will be back when it's cool enough to get my now natural hair straightened without reverting in ten minutes :). Charlene uses yarn to weave her clients hair, so I had to purchase braiding hair, oil for my scalp and hair color for the greys. After I decided not to have her weave my hair at $300.00 for a first time client, I canceled my appointment. I had left my items at the shop and when my courier went to pick up the items today, she all of a sudden couldn't FIND my Bigen (expensive) hair color. I knew I was getting ripped off and now, STOLEN from? She did give $5.00, but I paid $12.00 for the color.
