Something lets go, there's the sound of rushing water, and the whole downstairs fills up with steam. It was so thick I couldn't even see a foot in front of me in the basement as my plumber, Darren Powers, talked me through on the phone how to shut the furnace down, and which valve to turn to get the water to stop. Man! What a mess.... Darren was such a help to me. Though he had been up since early that morning working a job when I reached him at around 7:00 pm, he came over as soon as he could around 9:00 pm and worked on stabilizing things until about 10:30 pm so nothing else would happen. Because it was Saturday, he wasn't able to come back until Monday after gathering all the parts and equipment needed to fix the furnace and burst pipe line. I've known Darren for years, and he's helped me on many occasions. Each time, he came as soon as he could, did great work, and cleaned up the resulting mess after. I've trusted him numerous times to come in to do his work even when I wasn't home. And he's always been more than fair with not only his prices, but also his time. We had been waiting for 2 weeks for a small mixer issue to be repaired in our shower. We had two sets of guests visiting without a working shower. We were very excited to finally get a time to get it repaired. We have four adults and four young kids staying in the unit. I am 7 months pregnant. Both a lawyer and a doctor were working remotely within the unit at the time, without issue. It seems like he was expecting a quiet penthouse corner office to do his plumbing service. His service would've taken a few minutes to complete. His response was completely unreasonable. The tree crew was professional and safe. There was no risk to his safety. And, most unprofessional was his attitude. He knocked on the door just shaking his head. He responded, when I asked why he was leaving, that "he's out of here." And, when I asked if he was coming back or if I needed to find a new plumber, the company said he is not coming back. I'm very disappointed in his professionalism and attempt to provide a service to two families in need of it.

He had charged me for his time at a Master Plumber's rate plus his Journeyman Plumber's rate and his Apprentice. All three were charging me for the same time period--the bill was enormous given the simple job. Many month and a court date decision later and this guy is plaguing me for his money. Do not do business with this guy! He is worse than the worst slick used car salesman in getting you to agree and then jacking up the price later. Be warned.

After quickly assessing the damage, he presented me with two options: rebuild and reseal the current trap or outright replace it. Since the former was the cheaper option and had a pretty good chance of ameliorating the leak, I opted for the rebuild and reseal. Total price for the job: $140. All things considered, this business is very affordable and prompt. Their response time is ultimately what led me to elect them for my plumbing repairs. Best of all, they send updates via text to confirm your appointment date and how far out they are before arrival. I also appreciate the fact they're a NH based business. See?
