On the third call I asked if anyone still made/installed laminate countertops and was given the phone number for The Kitchen Top Shop. We called and drove down to their showroom on 8 Mile Rd that afternoon. Long story short- a family owned business with the second generation taking over. An enormous selection of laminates from the two industry leaders, Formica and Wilsonart. We worked with John for both sales and installation. John was just great to work with! The countertops were part of a series of upgrades we were doing in our home and we wanted them to go well with new flooring and paint. John showed us an undermount sink by Karran, which we didn't even know was possible with laminate. We did a couple of other tweaks to our original project and still thought the pricing was very good. (We recommend spending the extra money for the decorative edging!) It took us a while to choose a laminate pattern, but once we did John got the materials ordered and had everything ready to install just two weeks after we provided the pattern information. The installation went extremely well! John brought along Mitchell as his helper. The two of them had the plumbing disconnected and our old countertops removed in short order. The final trimming and customization of the countertops was done on site to ensure that all the pieces fit perfectly and the faucet and electrical outlets went exactly where we wanted them. The project included the installation of a new garbage disposal, and John cleaned up the plumbing layout under the sink to allow for better access and more room. Mitchell is a wizard with the caulking gun, and cleanup was very thorough. The finished product is nothing short of spectacular. The new countertops have really transformed our kitchen. One of our neighbors came over and was certain we had gotten real stone put in. Everything looks great and is working perfectly. Good pricing, great craftsmanship, and super nice people to work with. I am extremely disappointed with my experience with this company. From the beginning, the countertops that were installed did not match, which should never happen on a professional job. When a replacement was finally installed, the workmanship was still unacceptable. The caulking had visible gaps, and shims were left sticking out, making the installation look unfinished and sloppy. Even worse, the replacement countertop was shimmed up by about 1/4 of an inch, which is excessive and completely unprofessional. One section of the countertop was also not level, which is both noticeable and concerning for long-term use. During the installation process, the walls were damaged, and when this was brought to the company's attention, they stated they would not fix the walls. The company made excuse after excuse as to why things were done certain ways. My husband had to miss numerous days of work to meet installers to try to correct the issues. The resolutions offered were laughable. Overall, the quality of work, attention to detail, and customer service were far below expectations. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for quality craftsmanship or accountability.

I've had less than acceptable experiences working with various contractors and I wanted to work with someone who was timely, cost effective, great customer service and good quality. I expressed that to Justin and he was so understanding and assured me they are all those things. He was right! The next day Jorge came to my house to take measurements. He was very polite and knowledgeable about granite and overall experience. They say it takes two weeks from the date they receive the slab order you pick out. That is indeed true. I had a very specific granite vision of what I wanted. I went to a few suppliers and found the one I wanted. However, when it came in, the slab was cracked and MGE did not want me to be disappointed as they genuinely cared about the finished product and quality. We sent it back. Then, Kleopatra called me and offered to come with me to the suppliers to help me look at the granite and inspect it herself. I was so relieved and was blown away with how she went above and beyond to keep me informed of everything and to ensure I chose the granite we would be satisfied with long term. We ended up picking Avalon White from MSI. She inspected it and showed me which part of the slab they would use. I was reassured and so excited! Their prices are competitive and cost effective for their customers. The install team was outstanding. Our home is a historical home built in 1884, so the ground isn't as leveled. They stayed for 6 hours reconfiguring until it was perfect. They wanted to ensure it looked pristine and they do!! We love them and would highly recommend MGE to anyone.
