I did not know that as a person with severe nearsightedness that I would be at a much higher risk of retinal detachment, and that I needed to keep a very close eye on my eye health, as no doctor has ever told me before. I go in regularly because my vision keeps getting worse over the years so I have just gone in to update my glasses prescription over the years to different places, even one just this past year, but had not been offered or urged to get retinal imaging even though I have severe nearsightedness. THANK GOD Dr. Bauer's office requires retinal imaging at a common eye prescription appointment because I may not have known I needed it, since my vision has been normal besides needing an updated glasses prescription. He looked at my retinal images and immediately noticed that something was very wrong and helped make me an appointment with a retinal specialist right away, he literally texted the retina specialist my imaging when I was there in the chair. I don't have a very good prospect for my eye, and will likely require complex surgery, because I had never been told that I needed to have retinal imaging every year. I wish I had seen Dr. Bauer much earlier, as he would have caught my retinal detachment much sooner and my surgery outcome would be much better. But I am thankful he found it now. Overall I am so grateful for Dr. Bauer, he may have saved me from going blind. He was very smart and knowledgeable, kind, and even funny! He has a great bedside manner, which matters a lot to me since I have significant anxiety, especially around medical issues. I complained as it was 3:30pm and she had still not been seen. We were assured they would see us quickly. Mind you, we live in the country 1hr away, so when we come into town we have all her appointments and errands mapped out for the day. I explained this to the front staff as well. I was able to reschedule my Sister's next appointment which was at 4 PM. I rescheduled till 4:30 PM same day. We were taking back but ended up being the last people seen so when we left the office, the doors were closed lights off and not one patient in the office. I felt this was intentional! This is how medical has gone down in Colorado Springs. The doctors want you to respect their time, but they have no respect for yours, even having people sign forms where they will be charged when they are late. Colorado is known to be the number one state when it comes to people with disabilities. If the doctor is running behind, they should give patients a call prior to their appointment and get the same respect that they expect. An appointment lasting from 240 until almost 5 PM for a disabled woman who is also about to have a tantrum in the office is completely unacceptable. I would like to know if this is the same owner as the ear associates? People need to start filing complaints with the state of Colorado medical board and any other board because this is completely unacceptable, especially in Colorado!

There is no compassion or empathy here to get to the root of your problems--opticians or doctors. What's worse is I went to a new doctor and he verified they had gone way too strong on the prescription causing my issues and was shocked at their poor attention to care and said shame on them for ever allowing this.
