They do an excellent job with catering.I have used C'ville Coffee for breakfast and lunch business staff meetings. The typical order is for 25-30 people and receives rave reviews from the attendees. Breakfast sandwiches and wraps are wonderful. The lunchtime Noodle Platter with Chicken is a must. Always on-time, cold food is cold, hot food is hot and very fresh. I went to C-ville coffee this morning. I planned to spend the whole morning there to study and relax because I love the atmosphere. However, about twenty minutes after I sat down I was asked to leave by a middle aged Asian man who was working in the kitchen. I had taken the rest of my coffee from home and he told me that I could not sit there for free and drink my own coffee and use their internet because they have bills to pay. There were only four other tables taken in the entire place - it wasn't like I was taking up too much space. Also, I was not ready to order anything yet because I'd planned on spending my whole morning there. I was appalled, but left without a word but felt humiliated as the people in the café watched me get kicked out. I use to love this place. I've met with several friends here and recommended it to the groups I am a part of, but I will now be sharing the opposite recommendation with everyone I know. I will not be returning to this coffee shop. My recommendation to others would be to go to Starbucks or Shenandoah Joes. They are warm and welcoming and have truly free Wi-Fi. read more

I'm a 9 month visitor here in Charlottesville and this was my go to place for awhile, mostly because it was convenient despite the ongoing road construction nightmare near-by. But as time has passed, the quality has gone downhill. What was once a decent soy half-caf latte is almost undrinkable now - the last two lattes, I thought, I'll give it one more try. And why when there are so many really great coffee places that are just as easy (Taza and Shenandoah Joe come to mind)? My husband and I stopped by C'ville Coffee to check it out since we had driven by it a lot and wondered what it was all about. We knew they had live music on certain nights and a decent variety of food, for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Because there were so many things we noticed that needed improvement, I am going to bullet the items here Cons: -Way too noisy. There is no way that anyone can concentrate in this space. Every table in our "Adult Only" section was occupied by college students who were chatting and laughing, and some who had their music turned up so loudly in the ear buds we could hear it several tables over. There is no way I could ever get any work done here despite the free wi-fi. -Sign says no outside food, and several tables around us had fast food including Taco Bell. That doesn't say much for the type of people who come here... no class. If you're too cheap to eat the food there, go sit at the library. -My husband was ordering our food and waiting for our coffee for over 10 minutes. There is no sense of urgency, at all, here. -Coffee was good but small and the refills are $1. -The Olive Branch sandwich was good, but black olives did not do this sandwich justice. With feta and peppers, the olives really should be kalamata. Pros: -Convenient location -Plenty of seating -Large variety of food Cool concept, just not executed well. Needs refinement. And needs a separate student seating section so that others can hear themselves think here. All-in-all, there are too many other cool places around the city to return here. read more

The atmosphere is usually nice, but recently it has been REALLY loud. It's hard to concentrate or do work. But the main reason for writing this review is the bad coffee. I've gotten drinks there many times, and it's always eh - nothing great. But today I got a mocha, and it's so disgusting I'm about to vomit. Like seriously cannot drink it. The girl put WAY too much chocolate is, and it won't mix at all. For $6 a drink that's mostly ice (I watched her make it - she added ice, then poured in the soy milk which she ran out of when it was less than 3/4 of the way full and instead of getting another one, she added a ton of extra ice), it's a huge disappointment and totally disgusting. I'm all for supporting a local business, but not for throwing away money. Thanks but I'll stick with Starbucks from now on. read more

I don't even like coffee and I love this place! Do all of my client appointments here and love it. The berry turkey sandwich is so, so good! And the honey bunches are an awesome snack any time of day. Great indoor and outdoor seating and open late. Toan, the owner, is such a great guy and is so supportive of small business in Charlottesville... Which makes it all the more enjoyable to visit! read more

Oh come on CVille! This place is way over priced and you people are just eating it up. $8.50 for a glass of red wine that tasted like it came from a magnum bottle. $2 for a small cup of coffee. Cville Coffee is a nice coffee place and very family friendly. I particularly like the oatmeal and honey cookies but the sandwiches are also good. It has a very nice play area in one corner for the kids to play while parents drink coffee or chat. I like to go with friends that also have children and we all have a nice time. I recommend it for couples with children or girlfriends with children that want to hang out. read more

Two of three employees behind the bar were very young and obviously inexperienced (think first days of a first job). This by itself is totally fine, and has nothing to do with my one star review. The one star is for the other person making drinks who was heard to say to the young lady making my cappuccino "oh, don't worry about that" when the beginner asked "isn't there something about wet and dry with these?" Not too surprisingly my drink was awful, I didn't even finish it for the sheer caffeine value, let alone enjoy the taste. The physical space is nicely laid out, and they clearly are involved in the community, so it's a real shame that such neglect was given to the coffee, which is after all half their name. I'm glad most of the reviews are positive, although most seem to focus on the space and the food. Maybe this was an isolated "bad moment" but I won't be back to find out. read more

I lived in C'ville for 11 years, moved away for 3, and just came back. In the past, I spent most of my days writing my books while sitting at C'ville Coffee. The employees are all helpful and friendly, and the owner is wonderfully personable. He makes you feel welcome, unlike the chain shops that just want you in and out. The food is always delicious and freshly cooked or baked. Sandwiches, salads, and tons of drinks to choose from, their menu is diverse and HEALTHY. I have no problem paying for quality and fresh...(I can't stand sandwiches that taste like the plastic wrap they come in that the chain coffee shops sell). There are able tables with space between them (so you're not rubbing elbows with the table next to you), several power outlets, and great lighting. The layout accommodates families with kids in one room and a room for meetings or those who need more quiet to work. Since my return to town, I have enjoyed C'ville Coffee's new program of comedy and music on select evenings. As an author, I spend a lot of time in coffee shops, and this one is by far my favorite. read more

New to C'Ville and asked someone to meet me there for a brief meeting (was there 20 mins). Ten minutes into the meeting the manager, possible owner, interrupted me and asked me was I going to buy a coffee. I was appalled. I had already been there several times as I work from home and on two occasions bought the persons coffee behind me to cover the 5.00 minimum on a card. I was not taking up needed chairs, nor using the Internet and wasn't there a total of 20mins. Found his actions unprofessional and tacky. Since I had a lot of work to do, I wanted to find a spot with plenty of seating at the very least and Cville coffee seemed to fit the bill based on pictures online. The decaf coffee was on the expensive side, and they charge $0.20 if using a card for orders under $5 - that's pretty inconvenient because if you end up paying in cash you get a quarter back which you'll probably lose. Either way it ends up being basically a $3 coffee. The coffee was really good though for decaf - usually decaf ends up being bitter and unpalatable but this had a nice mild taste and was at a drinkable temperature. As for seating - dang!! I wondered if there was an adjoining restaurant I had accidentally walked into because there is just so much seating. If you need somewhere to grab a table without worrying about ample seating - this spot is it. However, the seats at the round tables are hard-seated so it may not be super comfortable. Wifi is fast, but no password so its unprotected. Overall customer service is very friendly. Bathrooms are clean and large. The music! At least the day I was here, they played only classical music, which is wonderful if you're trying to get a lot of work done without being distracted. However, it looks like many of the outlets are covered up, so you probably won't be able to charge your devices. Definitely will be back for some quality study time. read more

BOTTOM LINE - good food , great ambience , coolest cafe I've been to in the U.S. ---I just happened upon this place looking for a place to eat breakfast while waiting for a furniture store to open. I was very pleasantly surprised. Ordered breakfast sandwich which was basically a BLT with eggs and cheddar cheese. Very tasty and I liked the rye bread so much I sought out the local bakery to buy more. But it was the ambience of the place that really grabbed me. Other reviews describe it well: 3 parts - front; back eating area w/ place for kids; other area that looks like a reading room. I had the chance to talk to the owner and the work and creativity he put into the store is very evident. I definitely plan to go back again, especially when they have music. Overall, great job. My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out late one Sunday afternoon. We were greeted by two friendly baristas. It took us a few minutes to look over the menu, which is on two separate walls. I ordered an almond milk latte and a garden salad with the addition of grilled tofu. My boyfriend ordered a specialty latte with coconut and almond flavors. The total was a little over $18, which seemed pretty steep. But because of the high price I expected some great quality coffees and a big salad. We were told to wait for our drinks in the front. The barista pretty much overfilled the cups, which made it difficult for us to walk to the back room to grab a table. My almond milk latte was nothing to write home about and the specialty latte was so entirely sweet that my boyfriend couldn't drink it. The barista let me know that I would be able to pick up my salad at the back counter once my name was called. It took about ten minutes for the salad, which was absolutely basic. I didn't catch whether or not the ingredients were all organic, but I'm assuming that'd be the only justification for the price. I really wanted to like this place because its charming, family friendly, and the baristas were nice. But I don't pay premium prices for basic products. read more

This place is great when I want to people watch and do work at the same time. I never have trouble getting seating typically and the free wifi is great. I don't think the food is anything write home about (those popular noodle bowls are just okay in my opinion) but those tiny cookies they have in those big glass jars are awesome. They have oats in them so they must be healthy right? I wish they had a better selection of tea and their coffee is just okay but the atmosphere more than makes up for that. read more

Went to hear a local band. Band was great (180)! Food was terrific. Staff was working so hard to make our experience a good one. But in under 45 minutes from the start of the music, the beer was gone. Only wine, and the Chardonnay ran out. We had a great night. Just wish the venue was better prepared!!! read more
