Stopped by here on the way to Luray from Richmond. Awesome little Brunch spot by Baboursville Winery. Excellent little spot with great ambiance! Staff very friendly and helpful! My sister and I had a great time visiting The Exchange Cafe. We tried to find somewhere to eat when we got to the area and they did not disappoint! Upon entering, you order at the register and sit down to eat. They also have coffee options at the front if you're just stopping in for some caffeine. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time but that did not deter the quality or service. We were given instructions on what they offered and told we could sit while we looked at the menus. It was a bit warm but there were plenty of fans to help with it. I ordered the fireman's 1/4 chicken with a side salad with the lemon tahini dressing. My sister ordered the steak with the chimichurri and a salad with basalmic. Both were so good! We were talking about coming back again already. We both got dessert to go. I got the Tarte de Santiago and my sister got the tirimisu. I want to bring this cafe home with me! There was so much on the menu that I wanted to try. We ended up deciding ( after a very lengthy debate) on the bone broth chicken soup and 2 sandwich's to share. I ordered the ham on a biscuit and my fiancée ordered the fried chicken sandwich. The soup was served with homemade focaccia bread and everything was top notch fresh, seemed locally sourced and clean. The ham sandwich was very good and served with a simple but extremely fresh salad and good dressing. But his chicken sandwich was the star of the show! Holy moly was that some good fried chicken! It was a thigh, which made it better in my opinion, but also the breading and how ever it was fried made it really incredible! I would make a special trip to go back to this cafe! We were driving through on our way to an event in Charlottesville. We felt welcome when we entered the door. Looking over the menu we realized this would take more time because of the complexity of the offerings. We chose the duck breast and it was perfectly cooked. I cut it w a fork and the taste was just exquisite. It was accompanied by baked squash and their tasty rice. The portions were ample and it was a memorable meal for a random afternoon stop. You'll find chicken kebabs alongside chicken salad (10/10 recommend the chicken salad by the way). The hamburger is excellent as are the crawfish fritters, which were a special the day we were there. Coleslaw was the nastiest I have ever tasted it went in the trash. The croissant was soggy but edible. as for the surprise side of spring salad not sure what the purpose of the inclusion since there was plenty of the same on the croissant. side of potatoes were dry what a disappointment. never again.
