Tarte* de Santiago - I ate a lot of it lol
    Chelsi U.

My sister and I had a great time visiting The Exchange Cafe. We tried to find somewhere to eat when we got to the area and they did not disappoint! Upon entering, you order at the register and sit down to eat. They also have coffee options at the front if you're just stopping in for some caffeine. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time but that did not deter the quality or service. We were given instructions on what they offered and told we could sit while we looked at the menus. It was a bit warm but there were plenty of fans to help with it. I ordered the fireman's 1/4 chicken with a side salad with the lemon tahini dressing. My sister ordered the steak with the chimichurri and a salad with basalmic. Both were so good! We were talking about coming back again already. We both got dessert to go. I got the Tarte de Santiago and my sister got the tirimisu. I already have a recipe pulled up to make the Spanish dessert because it was amazing. 10/10, if you come to the Shenandoah area, stop by The Exchange cafe. You will not regret it!

    Ham sandwich on biscuits

I want to bring this cafe home with me! There was so much on the menu that I wanted to try. We ended up deciding ( after a very lengthy debate) on the bone broth chicken soup and 2 sandwich's to share. I ordered the ham on a biscuit and my fiancée ordered the fried chicken sandwich. The soup was served with homemade focaccia bread and everything was top notch fresh, seemed locally sourced and clean. The ham sandwich was very good and served with a simple but extremely fresh salad and good dressing. But his chicken sandwich was the star of the show! Holy moly was that some good fried chicken! It was a thigh, which made it better in my opinion, but also the breading and how ever it was fried made it really incredible! I would make a special trip to go back to this cafe! They also made me a spectacular DECAF latte!

We stopped in for dessert and coffee after seeing the reviews online. The cafe is quaint with plenty of seating. The coffee was delicious and we tried three desserts - chocolate cake, coffee cake and derby pie. Each one was delicious. The food we saw coming out looked great so we will definitely come back! The staff were all very nice and attentive.

This is my second visit. We purposefully drove an hour and 40min for the delicious bourbon pound cake and sautéed kale. The service is always great and the ambiance is quaint and welcoming. Top favorite of weekend things to do!!

I love everything about this place! I love the casual and cozy but sophisticated vibe, and the food is incredible every time. The breakfast sandwiches are the best ever, with tons of egg, on a freshly made biscuit. I have never had anything that wasn't absolutely delicious. Super friendly staff, and the owner himself is often on site, and comes by the table to make sure customers are happy. Could not recommend this place more!!

Serving American classics with high quality and great hospitality…read more Sandwiched between two floors of antique malls, Jack's was the perfect stop in the day to get some no-frills nourishment. Their breakfast is incredibly generous and made with ingredients that were fresh, clean, and meticulous in detail. The design of their menu is just so promising with unique twists that are not unheard of, but just an elevated touch when it comes to American diner food as a whole. Things like truffle infused hollandaise, fried green tomato BLT, pairing balsamic with goat cheese, a blackened pork, even mushrooms on the breakfast menu all hint that people developing their menu are confident in their skills in offering something more when it comes to breakfast plates and sandwiches. Their homemade aiolis (highly recommend their pesto aioli) and hot sauce tie any dish together-- breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Things made to this quality are not to be unremarked. Came in with friends so we can try everything on their menu, and we were pleasantly surprised on all fronts. Presentation, ingredients, preparation all elements that made our meals great and were evident across all dishes ranging from protein to carb. Details like toasted bread with already spread with butter, perfectly poached eggs, and brioche as the bun of choice were things we peeped. We would have left satisfied if these details weren't accounted for, but we were so impressed this became a revisit during our short vacation. Their space is greatly spacious, with an open drinks station so its just not pretentious. There is even a section in the front to pick up goods made by local artisans. This is a great place to dine in, no notes.

The atmosphere in the dining room was nice and airy. As we were traveling a good distance I decided to get the renowned cinnamon roll to go . I got a take out coffee and was told there would be a brief wait. After several minutes-a roll came out on a plate. Someone asked what I was there for. I said I'm for a cinnamon roll to go. The busy manager said they take 10 minutes After 20 minutes my husband came in to find me -the roll appeared soon after. I'm a quiet type person , I took the roll and left . It was very good. Message -order the cinnamon roll prior to meal.

We parked in the lot across the street although there is 2 hour street parking. Our server was friendly but it was a little disappointing that one of the drinks we wanted couldn't be ordered because it wasn't available (not sure why because it was just an old fashioned and we could clearly see the whiskey displayed behind the bar) so we ordered a different drink and the exotic mushroom pasta entree I ordered had a choice of being served with gnocchi or pappardelle pasta (which I preferred but again, it wasn't available so I went with the gnocchi). One of my friends got the beef sliders with mashed potatoes ($3 upcharge!!!) (they wanted the beef stroganoff but the chef wasn't able to make it without mushrooms) and my other friend the Brazilian beef stroganoff. The food was delicious. The ambiance was typical of a tavern with the TVs broadcasting the Olympics and the tall ceilings caused it to be a little noisy but not unbearable. We were too full for dessert but the carrot cake had been recommended so we ordered a piece to go (the biggest slice of cake I've ever seen!) along with a slice of their lemoncello cake. Good experience, I would've given them 5 stars had they not been out of so many things and unable to accommodate my friend's wish for no mushrooms
