Woman exiting after being verbally attacked by CVS cashier & shooed out by guard.
    Lara K.

A cashier/security guard, at this location, behaved in such an unprofessional, deplorable and abusive manner to a customer, on Aug 11, 2025, at 3:51pm that they both need to be reprimanded/fired! I witnessed one of the most aggressive, deplorable inhumane verbal attacks on a customer that I have ever seen. I entered the CVS store and the first thing I heard was a female employee "screaming out" from a check-out register 30ft away to a woman en-route to exit the store, she yelled out, across the floor and said, "Why did you come in here again if you weren't going to buy anything?", in a humiliating, derogatory tone! Upon hearing this I literally stopped dead in my tracks to try to figure out what the hell was going on! The woman attempting to exit the store, she stopped & attempted to defend herself from the cashier whom was abusive, never mind the weight & magnitude of the words to make such an idiotic, mindless, rude comment. While CVS has the right to refuse service to any customer, what the cashier literally screamed out to the whole store was don't come in our store unless you are going to buy something! According to that statement, if it were a policy, no customer would be allowed to enter the store unless they bought something. The woman who was verbally attacked by the cashier, stopped & responded to the cashier that the reason she had not bought anything was because the items she had been searching for were not in stock and the reason she came back a second time was because she needed to use the restroom, and she then thanked CVS that she had shit herself. I noticed the back of her pants were wet, so she had definitely had an accident, and from my experience, CVS bathrooms are locked; require a code, so it sounded like the woman might have been prohibited/delayed in getting access to the restroom, thus had an accident. It is possible the woman was poor, as so many in that area, but that is not a reason to speak to her like that if all she did is try to use the restroom. Despite the woman having an bathroom accident, the woman's speech and how she responded to the cashier with clear ennunciation and a logical response, says it all, & whether or not she was on alcohol/drugs is irrelevant, as I am a witness that her speech was not impaired in any way, shape, or form. The woman was was projecting her voice back to the cashier & she had to speak loudly enough to reach the cashier whom was more than 30 ft away, so she was simply responding to what the cashier had initiated, and she was not screaming in either volume or tone compared to the cashier. However, as the woman was trying to speak and exit the store, the security guard, a young punk, blinged out with extra large diamond earrings, began air-shoving the woman out the door by shooing her with his hands and arms, treating her like she was cattle, and then he literally told her to never come back. If she had stolen something, by all means call the police, if she had done something egregious in the store, hit stuff or thrown stuff or was behaving strangely, the security guard could have approached her and asked her to leave the store, but I didn't see her do anything to warrant the security guard to be shooing her out and telling her to never come back. I couldn't believe that no one, except me had any guts to say anything, and everyone just stood there like frozen zombies allowing this woman to be heckled. I walked right up to a cashier, the one that I think was screaming and I asked her for help, posing to her a random question and I got a stupid, snarky reply to my question, so I thanked her & walked away, but as I attempted to shop for what I needed, I could not stomach the despicable situation I had just witnessed and the way this customer had been attacked, as it made my stomach turn over. I over heard one cashier telling the other that they thought she, "was on something", meaning alcohol/drugs, and all I could think is, well even if the woman was on drugs, that didn't warrant what the cashier had said, and furthermore how ironic...she is "on" something, hello, what do you think CVS is? It is a store that sells Rx drugs. Lot's of people come in CVS on something. Go get a brain! I was so upset, I could not shop. I then approached the security guard & told him to his face, that what he had done to that woman was not cool. He acted totally justified in what he did. So I asked him what exactly did she do, in case there was more to the story than I had witnessed. The security guard said the woman was screaming! Screaming, I exclaimed! No, I'm sorry but she was not screaming, she was simply defending herself after being verbally attacked by an employee who actually screamed across the store at her. I told the security guard that I too would go shop somewhere else! Effective January 1, 2023, AB 1632 requires a place of business that is open to the general public for the sale of goods....persons to use the toilet.

As I was purchasing my Chapstick, a lady came in to use the restroom. They did not make her make a purchase beforehand. AN INCIDENT OF ATTEMPTED ELDER ABUSE, BULLYING, COVERED UP WITH DENIAL…read more I was told by a man at this Chevron that I would have to agree to give a $30 tip for his workers on a $200 interior detailing. The cashier told me that didn't sound right, that most people left 10% and it was always their choice how much to tip. When o told the man what the cashier said, he said, alright, make it $20. Then the manager was notified and the man said, "It's her choice , I didn't say how much to tip." So, I got targeted, probably because I'm 72 and was with my autistic son. The man was rude to my son, roughly telling him to get out of the car. The man told how much to tip and then the man played innocent when confronted by the manager. No one apologized, I left a $10 tip because the other workers shouldn't be stiffed because of that man. All in all it was a very depressing experience. *********************** UPDATE: Chevron's response and my response: On Feb 18, 2025, at 11:36AM, Consumer Connection Center: Dear Marshall, Thank you for your patience while the relevant retailer or marketer reviewed the information you provided for this independently operated station. Here is their response: It appears there has been a misunderstanding. Our intention is not to exploit customers, as we value repeat business. The manager clarified that tipping is optional. Typically, there is an additional charge for incidents involving vomit. Please be assured that we do not impose charges for tips We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we sincerely hope to have the opportunity to serve you again. Sincerely, xxxxxx xxxxx Consumer Connection Center Specialist Chevron Products Company, a division of Chevron U.S.A Inc. Dear xxxxxx / Chevron Customer Center: There was absolutely no misunderstanding. The man lied to the manager. The man told me several times I had to agree to give a $30 tip or he wouldn't clean the car. He used a gruff tone of voice. He asked where the weather tech mat was that I said the vomit landed on. Most of the vomit landed on the weather tech mat. I told him it was at home, that I had cleaned it myself. I just wanted the carpet shampooed. He did not have to clean any vomit because I had already done that. (With disinfectant). He absolutely made clear so that I understood he must be paid $30. Then he lowered it to $20 when I told him the cashier said this was not normal, that customers get to decide. Then he lied to the manager and repeated what I told him the cashier said: "That customers get to decide what tip they give". The dishonesty is the second problem. You calling it a misunderstanding is a third insult. I did not misunderstand. I think that he figured a 72 year old single mom was the perfect mark that he could intimidate. He was intimidating. He made very sure I understood him by repeating himself. He also scared my disabled son by gruffly telling him to get out of the car. You are defending a very dishonest mean, greedy person. One day you might find out that he will cheat you like he tried to cheat us. I would gladly take a lie detector test regarding this incident. I should have called the police instead of complaining to the on site manager. It is my understanding that if a car is exceptionally dirty, and ours was not, that any extra charge would come from the upfront quote for the job itself, not in a secret on the side demand for a larger than normal tip. I will add my answer to update my Yelp review so people can see how this kind of thing gets swept under the rug and called a misunderstanding when it was actually a bully attempting to rip off an elderly lady and her autistic son. What kind of person tries to scare senior citizens and autistic people to get a bigger tip? I told the cashier I don't think the man would talk that way to a young rich executive. It was sad and hurtful and I was afraid when I reported it because the man was so mean I feared he might take revenge. Here is a photo of the weather tech mat that I cleaned myself. My son threw up Chick Fil A nuggets that he drank too much soda with. I told the man I cleaned it myself and left it at home so it wouldn't be in the way. I wanted the carpet shampooed. The man specifically asked me where the mat was because I told him the vomit landed on the mat. The mat was at home. I cleaned it. This was a case of elder abuse and bullying and then lying when caught.

There are so many booths that if I come back again, I definitely want to make more time to try and go through all of them lol. One thing I loved was that if you stand near the Roasted Loaded Potato and Baby Mini Donuts booths, you get such a good view of the HB pier and the ocean! And bonus points if it's during golden hour! What a sight!! Food-wise, my friend and I ended up getting a Roasted Loaded Potato with cheese and bacon bits. We forgot to add seasoning (whoops ), but the bacon bits definitely added great flavor! We also ordered a Carne Asada Burrito from one of the taco stands, and it was so nice that they were able to customize it and cut it in half so we could share. The meat was super juicy and the cheese had that perfect "stretchy pull" when you try to take a bite lol. So much flavor!! As for samples, I got to try the Cinnamon Explosion from the Baby Mini Donuts booth and it was phenomenal!! There was also a Coconut Water booth where I sampled their Coconut Coffee, an interesting combo, but honestly something I'd come back and try again at full size despite not being a big coconut person. Lastly, I tried the Cucumber Pineapple refresher from a fruit drinks booth and even at sample size it was so refreshing! Overall, l'd definitely come back!
