I've loved this place since I moved to Costa Mesa 15 years ago-- friendly staff, wonderful items, and everything so beautifully arrayed. You could tell everyone that worked there felt like part is a family. it was a welcoming place in the neighborhood and fun to go to. But I feel like some of that charm has fallen away since new owners took over sometime in 2024. There are some physical differences-they don't keep up with things that are out of stock, the ways things are arranged aren't as as nice or thoughtfully done. It just now feels kind of more generic and like a regular convenience store. It's kind of a shame. There are nice people there, but it doesn't feel quite the same. read more

It took me until the Covid-19 shutdown to find this gem. And believe me, this is one fabulous market. Its not huge and the selections are limited, but for what they have its top notch. Their baked goods come a couple of times a week from Old Town Baking Company, and you cant go wrong there. Their beer and wine choices are all ones I like. And they have local coffees, premium ice cream, and produce. You don't have to drive through, but it does make for a new experience. I usually walk in. Highly recommend read more

This drive thru mini-mart is perfect for a pick me up wine, needed batteries, local honey or just a few kitchen essentials you may have forgotten. The availability to pull up and and leave your car running while grabbing a few things you need! This isn't the place to go grocery shopping, but that's not what they're meant for. It's for the things you may have forgotten or the select delicacies they have. Hand selected wines from all regions, beers from local breweries, pasta that is quality, coffee from the local coffee shop... i could keep going on. While I was there I had remembered I needed batteries and I asked the lady working who gladly told me the types they had! Overall the mini-mart has been a lifesaver. read more

I love this place. They have a greatest hits of essential items (fresh breads, good wine selection, cheeses, pasta, Italian tomatoes and yummy tomato sauces) plus a few treats (like fresh desserts- next time I want to try the carrot cake!). Treat yourself to Bariani Olive Oil or Balsamic- a California grown and produced gem! I was so excited to find it here! I used to buy direct from Mr Bariani at the Sacramento Farmer's Market. I was so thrilled to find it here! It is delicious and I love to give it as gifts too. Fresh coffee in the morning (cheaper than Starbucks) & you support a small business. Wait!? Did I just see signs on a building with arrows showing me there is a drive through mini mart offering milk, snacks, etc...like the "olden days"? OMGosh I have to go check it out. I love 17th street because there are always hidden finds. YES!!, it is a drive through mini mart. I remember going with my grandfather to these when I was a little girl. He would drive in for a pack of smokes and milk and bread for my grandma. Oh those days were so simple.. I love how this place looked so clean. They even had coffee along with some great snacks, soda, ice cream and a ton of goodies. Imagine jumping in your car with your jams on and driving through in a jiff. No parking or going through aisles much less a cashier line. I ordered Ben and Jerrys ice cream, paid and was on my way! Guy helping was awesome. Although I do not live in Costa Mesa I am over here all the time and I will definitely come back! If I could find a location in my city I would love to open a drive through mini mart. I'm was stoked on the place when it reopened because as was mentioned before; the concept of pulling-in and having requested items brought to you is really rad when you are hoping for the speed and convenience that the concept embodies. So when you pull-in and the guy is sitting behind the counter is too busy playing with his phone to provide the service I thought was the promised premise ? no !? As a kid, it was super-rad to ride my bike into a place like this and grab what I needed without locking up. I hope before locking the doors, customer service can be reestablished so I can keep wearing the hat I bought there and driving through when I need to. THANKS ANYWAY ! read more

I love the Eastside Mini-Mart. Been goingthere since the 1970s when I was young. Back then it was candy and ice cream. Then in the 1990s I would buy milk for my kids there. Now I am disabled and I buy wine so I don't have to get out of the car. All the ladies are so very nice and helpful. Please don't go anywhere. read more

Wow this place has changed. It is so pretty now and actually fun. One-- you can find it! Two-new and fab merchandise. You can get the best unique beer and wine here and not even get out of your car. Great place to buy ice. No work. Just pull in and they will help you. I just love the pull through, drive in convenience. Polite young guys work there. Growing up on the east coast, drive thru minimarts and liquor stores are a pretty common thing. So I was really stoked when I realized there was one right down the road from me! Unfortunately the last few times I drove through the cashier wouldn't come out from behind the register. I had to get out of my car and grab the things I needed myself. Best little local bodega. Orange County needs more small businesses like this one! This mini mart is clean, decorated beautifully and the snacks are curated extremely well. To put it plainly, it could have been designed and accomplished much better. The outside was cute, but off the beaten path and you are truly at the mercy of the shopper in front of you. I was expecting a miniature drive-thru, with little stocked on the shelves. When you entered, to the right was what I expected, a line of refrigerators and freezers with drinks and some ice cream. When you looked to the left, it seemed like an actual brick and mortar store. To grab your items, you had to walk out of your car to grab whatever you wanted. It wasn't just a typical small market. There were wines, pizza sauces and bread in the back part of the store. I love the concept, but there can certainly be much better execution. read more

This place is the hidden diamond in the rough. New owners as of 2015 and the changes they made are great. I love that you can drive in and jump out and get what you want. They have a little of everything including cold beer, good wines and lots of snacks for the kids. If you only need a few things then this is a great stop. I went to MiCas across the street and picked up fresh chips and salsa for a football party I was having. I drove across the street and picked up ice, beer and sodas. Ok so first of all I'm super stoked on the new place. Very easy to see and navigate through. Best of all it looks CLEAN. I've been to the new place about 5 or 6 times since it's opened as I live in the neighborhood and every trip has been a positive one. How amazing is it to have a drive through mart in your hood??? Finally a drive thru store in Costa Mesa/ Newport Beach, that's clean! I live right down the street and have lived in this area my whole life and this idea of drive thru market is fantastic. Both owners are wonderful and have treated me amazing every time I have driven through. One of the best things they have are the "Purps" energy drink by Kelly Slater, still haven't found another place that carries them. If you haven't got a chance to drive through Newport's classic Mini Mart you haven't seen all of Newport Beach. I highly recommend this place to anyone who's looking to grab a nice cold Herbert's lemonade while staying in there car through the whole process.
