Open late, which is a rarity for any business in the OC, but that's because it's a franchise if anything, BUT it was crazy that the pharmacy was still open around 9 PM. Many other pharmacies in Walgreens, CVS, Target, Walmart, etc. all close at around 5 PM and some aren't even open on the weekend (Sunday), but this one was. Not sure if this is just a change in CVS that I haven't paid attention to, or if it was always like that. There's self check out and the staff working was super friendly and helpful. Shout out to the cashier girl who talked Calico Critters with me, you a real one. Stock is fairly decent for seasonal items and it didn't look super disorganized. Lots of World Cup merchandise randomly and it's always so funny that the souvenirs for Irvine are ocean and beach themed when you're not even THAT close to the water but I guess it works in a pinch for those unfamiliar with California geography. Prescription was submitted Tuesday 4/14, finally received a text informing me it was filled Tuesday 4/21 and ready for pick it up, I go in and am told it was $400, said I'd be back to pick it up. Call in with a manufacturers discount coupon I was given, told it doesn't work. I call doctor and manufacture, told coupon is valid and instructions to ensure it goes through. Received another "ready for pick up" text Thursday 4/23, go in to pick it up on 4/24, spend an hour troubleshooting the coupon, told it still doesn't work. I tell them "I'll be back with my HSA card to pick up on Sunday" - return Sunday 4/26, told "medication is on hold"...sent to consultation window, told "the coupon does work" and the total is now $500...and it's not filled, in fact, it was never filled... I explain everything, they say "I don't know who worked with you, but the coupon works, but the item was never filled" - provide text showing it was filled, proceed to identify by name the 2 people who helped me troubleshoot on Friday, one of those identified claims "I never helped you"...after some pushback says "you declined the medication"...and the kicker, "the item is out of stock"... tl;dr First, they said it was $400, then they said coupon didn't work, then said they never helped me, then they say it was never filled. Then I prove it was filled, now they say they DID help me, but claim I declined it. Suddenly now the coupon works, it's $500, but it's out of stock? This place is a joke. Other things to note: The nearby hospitals send everyone here because it's 24 hours, so there's almost always a line. There are a few kind and patient staff members, but otherwise the rest are unhelpful and some will lie straight to your face. read more

Had a very poor experience here on 5/8/26. We had a doctor appointment in Irvine and the default pharmacy was this location. We actually live in Brea but thought we could check here first on our way to Brea. It was 11:10am and the line at the pharmacy was 5 parties ahead of me. The line went fast. When I gave them the name, I was told 20 minutes. I was fine with that but as I started walking to shop, a store announcement sound signaling lunch for the pharmacy from 11:30am-12pm. This raised concern as my prescription would be ready at the time of lunch. So I stuck around the area, thought I heard my name so stood in line to check and was told that the prescription was still in progress. At 12pm (40 minutes has passed for when I was told complete), a pharmacist signals to me and asks who I'm waiting for and said that there was an issue of some kind. I lost my patience, left the pharmacy and called to have prescription relocated to Brea. I understand that the pharmacists are busy but stating 20 minutes and the fact that there was an issue that delayed that even more is unacceptable. Tell me it will take an hour and I will adjust as needed. As a pharmacist, there needs to be an extra effort of care past the counter. There are people that are hurting, ill, etc. that need transparency. I would not recommend this pharmacy to anyone at this time. read more

Experience was questionable. I came by to make a deposit on my Capitol One app through CVS, since they are one of the participating pharmacies to deposit cash. A girl at the register looked at me weirdly right when I was waiting in line and asked me if I am a guest and I smiled and said hello, saying I am depositing some large bills, which I get it is concerning at first glance. She proceeded to look at me weirdly, asked me for id in a manner that shows she is cautious of why I am here holding large bills to deposit. She said she thought I was a criminal when I literally just walked in for just 1 minute... So, I laughed it off and asked how they are doing and she said she is closing today. And I shared some empathy, saying "Aww gotcha haha I totally get it. Hope it goes well" and she responded "Yeah yeah, you get it." in a tired or sarcastic tone. I understand she must be having a bad day, but coming from someone such as myself who has been doing customer service for over 9+ years while juggling grad school and helping my family is exhausting, but I still deliver my best attitude to be helping my guests. I suggest she be careful for behaving this way. Regardless, she successfully deposited my cash and I appreciated the help. But I will not be coming back to this location due to her making me seem like I'm just here for trouble or moreso being a bother. Thank you for reading this and understanding my concerns. We came here today with my wife to print some photos. At first, we tried to do it ourselves, but the machine didn't work properly. We asked a female employee (see photo) for help -- she was very rude and unprofessional. She didn't want to come over at first, then finally did but spoke to us in a very disrespectful way. Later, a male employee tried to help, but he clearly didn't know how to use the photo printer either. In the end, we figured it out ourselves. Very disappointed with this CVS location. Their website clearly states they do passport photos for all ages, but when I came in with my 7-month-old, they refused to take the photo. Both the front desk employee and the supervisor were rude and dismissive when I tried to explain, showing no willingness to help or even acknowledge the information on their own site. If a service is advertised, customers should be able to rely on it -- especially when it comes to something as important as a child's passport. This experience was frustrating and unprofessional, and I would not recommend this CVS for passport photos. read more

Located off Alton Pkwy in Irvine. After my visit to Hoag Hospital Wed night the Dr who saw me prescribed antibiotics and Cream for my facial scratches since this was close to the hospital I went to pick it up. CVS is your typical store like all the others and the pharmacy as well I got there went up to the counter they were still working on it said 15 mins I think about 10-12 mins later I hear my name called that it's ready. Was told to use other business 's restrooms even though I just purchased an item from CVS. Very inconsiderate of YOUR customers. CVS pharmacy would not allow me to refill my prescription until I was completely out of my medication. I went to CVS To pick up my medication and the system was down. I waited 2 hours for my medication to be ready. After the computer system came up I went to the kiosk and they didn't even have my medication ready and I had to go to the drop off window to refill my medication again and after 2 hours of waiting I had to wait another 20 minutes to pick up my medication that I needed this morning. This is a critical medication I need to take on a regular basis and I was not able to take it until well after I was supposed to take it. I have to wait 2 days before I can refill my medication and I think that this is unacceptable. I was able to pick up this medication a week before I ran out and now it has dwindled down to where I can only Call to refill it 2 days before I'm out and then I run into situations where their system is down and I have to wait another day without my medication that I cannot be without. There was a man who came in to pick up medication for his wife who was in surgery and he was turned away. After he left I could hear them laughing in the back of the Pharmacy like it is a Big joke. Ha Ha. The CVS computer system is constantly going down and there are people who need critical medications and they are turned away. This is absolutely unacceptable. If you need critical medications for your medical conditions I suggest you switch your prescription medication to be picked up at Walgreens or anywhere else but CVS. Every time they turned Someone away I could hear them laughing in the back of the Pharmacy. This is truly unacceptable. This year my prescription medications went up 1500%. I suggest that instead of CVS executives stealing all the money and giving themselves lavish salaries and bonuses that they invest money into their computer system so it is not constantly shutting down. And shame on those CVS pharmacy employees that thought it was a big joke and I can't believe that they would crack up laughing after every patient who needed their medication was turned away. visited this CVS tonight, mid-asthma attack because i'm out of my medication and i'm aware that pharmacists are able to prescribe small doses of albuterol in emergencies. it's a sunday night so i couldn't reach my doctor, and my regular pharmacy is closed. after waiting 10+ minutes to see the pharmacist, i explained my situation and she rudely told me that i needed to go to urgent care instead. therefore she ignored the emergency prescription laws and left me with nowhere to go; all urgent cares in orange county are closed on sunday nights. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I think Ive ever been to. I've come here for a long time and the people who work in this pharmacy are unkind and uninformative. I've never had issues myself but standing in line have witness countless interactions that I personally felt could have been handled with a little more strategy and grace. Customer service 101: usually it's not WHAT you are telling someone but rather, HOW, you say it that can escalate or de-escalate the situation. And these people speak to you like you should know things that most people not in healthcare or pharmaceutical practices wouldn't know. Today - I had my own issue which prompted me to write this... with lesser details... my prescription isn't covered by insurance (which I'm aware of) so I give them a discount code from GoodRX... which I've done for over a year. Last month at pickup the girl checking me out said they didn't accept them... i assured her they do because I do it every month. She course corrected and I successfully used it and was on my way. Today... the pharmacist at the drop off window refused to type it in and just kept saying they dont take it. I told her they've taken it every month for over a year and again she just told me i was wrong. Finally i stopped her and said... this would be a little easier for you if you gave more context so i can understand what has changed between now and alllllll those other times. It wasn't that she was telling me no it was that i didn't understand why and her unwillingness to explain it to me that led to me being so dissatisfied that i would write this review. Once I pointed out that I just wanted to understand why... she said this specific CVS has too many customers so they decided to stop taking discount cards in January. (Not sure how valid since i used it with my Jan pick up) So... moral is... the store is awful and is only taking and filling prescriptions that most benefit their bottom line. If you like a good discount then you aren't their clientele. And secondly... even though their pharmacists aren't in charge of these decisions... they should learn how to communicate changes to people instead of treating them the way they do. This CVS location is in the Alton plaza (Alton and Jeffrey). There's plenty of parking in this plaza. Giving this location 3 stars because the staff here are not as friendly. When I'm looking for something they point me to the wrong aisle. Half the time I cannot find an available staff member to help me so I either have to go to Pharmacy or have to stand in line to get my questions answered. There is a good selection of skin care and cosmetics and it's located at the front of the store. The snacks aisle still have some outdated holiday candies for sale. Also when you are at the pharmacy your info isn't as private. Their pharmacist sometimes yell out prescription orders and then everyone can hear. So it can be embarrassing. I'll still come back to this location but probably not for pharmacy needs. read more

After picking up 5 of my husband's prescriptions and having the pharmacy rerun them through insurance since that seems to be an issue lately. My husband's insurance has not changed but lately, I need to pay extra attention since there have been issues with CVS not running through both of his insurances so that is a little annoying but worked out. Then I went to make a purchase at the front of the store and the employee who has been there for years had her back toward me for at least 3 minutes while helping two girls with their passport photos but that is not a big deal. I guess it was the manager who was assisting another customer for several minutes at self-checkout who was having a problem with coupons since he had the whole checkout drawer pulled open while finding her coupons. Again, no big deal. There was no one else in the front of the store this entire time. Then a woman got in line behind me and was looking at her phone. Then a guy walks in and goes in between the passport photo area and the line. As soon as the cashier turned around, he asked her for film behind the counter. I said "Excuse me, there is a line" and the cashier ignored me and continued to help him. I said "This is rude, I have been in line for a few minutes and this guy just walked in and you are helping him?" She proceeds to tell me that he was waiting which is when I got really pissed off. I told her he was not even in the store for the few minutes I was waiting in line. It is infuriating that she did not immediately tell him to get in line and then proceeds to basically tell me I am lying. I am seriously thinking of doing future business at Walgreens. read more

I have been going to this pharmacy for 25 years and they are the best! It is a busy pharmacy and the manager and her team are excellent. If medication is out they will order right away! They take the time to help and explain all medications and vaccines! They are very professional and very nice! I am so blessed to go to this pharmacy! Thank you CVS for always helping me!
