EVERY SINGLE PICKUP- this CVS tries to overcharge me- $120 for a $10 prescription. Every. SINGLE. Time. Then they make me 45 minutes for them to correct their mistake. Pay attention- they will intentionally rip you off. I would not come here unless my insurance required it. Since the product I needed was at the counter, I did not need to really explore the store so I cannot speak on the availability of "normal" items. I will say that the cashier to helped me out was amazing. Maybe it was a minor thing, but she walked into the store and immediately started her shift when to start her shift...I don't think she even had a chance to that off her coat. I thought she was very helping in that she went out of her way to find the best price for the items that I was purchasing. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at this CVS. read more

All I can say is maybe we got lucky with time of day (we went in the evening), or things have improved sine of the terrible reviews, but our visits here have been very painless. Mostly we come here when we have to pick up a prescription sent by a nearby medical provider, and that's usually in the evening. The wait at the pharmacy has been minimal, and the store isn't crowded. The aisles are actually well stocked, unlike other stories, and it's a straightforward experience. Compared to the CVS closest to me, this one is night and day (i.e. much better). read more

I'm kind of ambivalent to this CVS... it's convenient, don't get me wrong, but sometimes when you're waiting for your medication and they say it's ready, you get there and they say they didn't receive the prescription... I used to like the pharmacy here when I had a family friend working there and unfortunately, she left... the cashier and self checkout area isn't too bad, pretty efficient and just go on about your day. read more

They do not answer the phone at this location. It appears to be protocol, as the pharmacy manager was unwilling to speak with me in person once I arrived a the location 30 min. into being on hold. I told them I'd been trying to call all morning as I had a flight out of town the next morning and needed to ensure I could get my script filled that day. It was not available for refill until that very day, so I could not fill it sooner. Meanwhile, 6-7 Pharmacy Technicians were all busily working behind the counter, completely ignoring the "One Pharmacy Call." Even after driving to the store and speaking with a pharmacy staff about my concern, the pharmacy manager did not identify himself as the manager, nor did he speak with me when I asked to speak with the manager. It was only after I spoke with the Retail store manager that I discovered the pharmacy manager was the Associate wearing red. I exited the store, still on hold, still hearing in the background, "One Pharmacy Call." I attribute this to the CVS corporate culture rather than the staff, who I'm sure are doing their best, however, it is imperative that patients be able to call and speak with a pharmacist. Not everyone can get in their car and drive to the store to speak with the pharmacy, which impacts vulnerable populations exponentially. On the positive side, this location is open until midnight and has always filled my scripts the same day. I'm concerned with their protocol and lack of sufficient staff to serve customers who rely on critical medications. It seems they may be overburdened at this location with meeting pharmacy demands AND administering vaccines without the staff to handle both sufficiently. This is a huge disservice to both customers and Pharmacy Staff. Do better CVS! read more

I called and inquired about a passport photo and Hana answered and was very nice and helpful. I arrived about 20 minutes after calling and there seemed to be a little rush of people. Susan walked past me and yelled for Hana to come out to the floor and continued carrying on loudly about how Hana can not leave the sales floor. Fine. Susan then walked past again and slammed a box onto the counter before going behind the desk and continuing to loudly complain about Hana walked away from the desk. I am not sure of Susan's position but the way she treated Hana and carried on is what stuck out to me in this visit to cvs. She was so nasty and very vocal about her leaving the floor and how someone waited 15 minutes. When Hana then walked away to take my photo Susan started complaining yet again about Hana walking away even though she was walking away to do her job. I do not know the full story but if I was Susan's employee I would be livid with her talking to and about me in that manner in front of customers. There are better ways to handle things.. like having more help for Hana if she needs to step away. Or if she is indeed in trouble a private conversation would have been more appropriate. read more

I need my Covid vaccine card updated for my job and it's way more work than it should be. 2) When you go in person, they might as well speak no language at all. They'll just stare at you like idiots. Yesterday I arrived on time for a pre-booked ear piercing. I wasn't sure where to go; the only cashier was helping those at the self checkout. I walked toward the cosmetics and saw a small cube-like piercing station with a built-in seat. I walked toward the nearest employee I saw, a young Black woman busy at a display. She said 'What's up' without looking at me. I mentioned piercing. She obviously had no idea she had a client booked. She then responded, was careful and thorough throughout the procedure, but her initial comment was unprofessional, semi-impolite. Why not 'Hi, how may I help you'? The store in general seems, from frequent visits, understaffed and chaotic. I avoid it if I can use mail-order pharmacies. A somewhat rude homeless man is often soliciting at the door. Last week I said 'I have a few coins in my car' and beckoned him to it. He took them and said 'Is that all'? I waved to him yesterday before the piercing and he made some disgruntled comment. Should CVS really be tolerant of this at their doors? read more

Zero chance anyone will pick up if you call. covud neds that are prepackaged take a day to fill unless you remind cvs they are required to fill it quickly (part of their contract to supply Paxlovid). I have tried only twice to call this pharmacy on behalf of my elderly father. The first call had a hold of 35 minutes. I tried again today and gave up after 50 minutes. I live out of town so not easy to drive. I realize things are busy with Covid but there should be a way to do a call back, leave a message, fax, etc. I went to the pharmacy about a week ago. The person at the consultation counter did not look up or wait on me until I asked if anyone was available. She was annoyed. Another customer helped me. It was a cold dreary Sunday afternoon for Silver Spring MD at the beginning of October when I drove here to get my passport photo. This CVS is one of the closer ones to my house. The parking lot is on the skinny side but has slanted parking spaces to maximize the amount of parking. It's a 24 hour store of medium size. Upon arrival I saw an employee in the photo department checking on something for a customer on the phone. This took a few minutes. I caught her attention & told her why I was there. She had to get back to the checkout counter as they were busy & there was only one employee for the customers in line. It always seem to be busy at this store. This was fine with me as I had some shopping to do. I stumbled onto a sale on bottled water (bogo free) and had an extra care coupon and expiring extra bucks to use up today. I returned to the photo area & waited. It's just on the left of and adjacent to the checkout counter but I was not acknowledged for a few minutes. I even saw one customer service person disappear for a while. Once the person on duty saw me everything was good but they asked why I was not in the line! I explained that the the other employee said too come back to the photo area. She was friendly and apologized and photo process was quick and efficient. On a personal note I really hate passport photos. You can't smile for them! At the checkout out counter minus the packs of water scanning for the wrong price everything went great. She fixed the price of the water and took off both the coupon & the extra bucks. The passport photo fee was $14.99 for 2 photos. I have returned here several times since then. I have observed a trend in customers not being acknowledged when needing assistance at the self checkout or just standing there needing help to find something. Once your presence is realized the service is good! Yesterday as I was having trouble again with extra bucks the issue was quickly fixed but the employee could have been more friendly. Kensington Pharmacy, at the other end of the plaza is fabulous. They answer their phone, they are knowledgeable and they care. CVS does not answer the phone and they don't seem to care. Maybe they are overwhelmed by the volume. Ok. I'm going to scare some folks here but this is the deal. If you want to live a long life, I STRONGLY suggest you do not go to this CVS location or to any CVS for that matter. I came to fill a prescription after a doc office visit two nights ago and went through the typical steps to fill out a prescription. I thought it was strange that the pharmacist asked for birthday info but I proceeded. When I received the prescription, I noticed that the name was different (similar but different). I noticed then that the address ( a FLORIDA address BTW), phone number, the SEX, and the birthday were different. It was a COMPLETE mismatch. I asked the Asian male pharmacist to check this again and he said that the insurance card was associated with the information that was shown on the prescription. COMPLETE LIE. He admitted to changing the birth year MANUALLY though a system override and filling in a FLORIDA address prescription with a DIFFERENT phone number and for someone of the OPPOSITE SEX. I called the insurance company to verify that the card # is associated properly and it IS. This guy searched by name, clicked on a similar name with a similar date of birth, and manually overrode the birth year to override the system. This is COMPLETE negligence. It gets even more interesting. When I discussed this issue with the other two pharmacists working with him, they said it is what it is and that I should call my insurance company to work things out. Oh, they also offered to change the phone number and address, but told me they couldn't change the name. That's coming from the supervisor's mouth. Are you joking???? As much as I would like to blame these 3 employees for the whole ordeal, I absolutely cannot and I mean I ABSOLUTELY cannot exonerate CVS from blame because it is VERY clear to me that they do not have proper training programs and rules in place to prevent this from happening. For those who don't think this is a big deal, incorrect prescriptions result in over 100,000 deaths a year and that could have been me that night. God knows what they put in the pill box. AVOID CVS and this place at all costs. I will be filing my complaints with government agencies and prescription drug quality reporting programs and make sure CVS gets the attention it rightfully deserves. An incident occurred at this store, I reached out to Headquarters on December 5, 2020. I was informed someone from CVS would call me in 24-48 hours. Another customer (C-#2)was there and told me good luck, this store don't care. Sadly, she was right. I gave this CVS, 1 month to call me. I gave up waiting for this company to reach out to me, this explains why there has been 2 incidents here. The first time I witnessed a cashier being very rude to an elderly Black woman and I spoke up for her, and called him on the way he was treating her. Then this happened to me. This is what happened. I asked the cashier to please call for assistance to help me. The cashier informed the manager via intercom that customer needed assistance on aisle 5. I waited, as instructed on aisle 5. After a few minutes I walked to the end of the aisle and saw the manager with a customer. I looked at the cashier and she shrugged her shoulder and I heard her say ---------. (I later learned her name is -------.). I tried to get the attention of the manager by saying excuse me. She told me she was helping a customer (Customer #1)and would assist me after her. I tried again, and the cashier tried to let the Manager know that I was the customer who needed assistance. We were both overlooked. I was hurt and angry. This is the 2nd time I have witnessed this type of treatment towards Blacks in this store. Both the cashier and I are Black. The Customer #1 and Manager are white. The manager's excuse was that she did not know who needed help and thought it was the Customer #1. Well, Customer #1, a privileged "Karen". When I spoke to Rhonda, the Karen told me I was mistaken, it was not a race issue and because she was there the day before and needed assistance. "Karen" was at the register checking out when I requested assistance. Yet, she tried to make excuses for the Manager. I informed, the Manager, it is customer service 101, and as a Manager she should know. When arriving to give assistance, ask the cashier who is the customer that requested help. I tried twice to get her attention and to interrupt and was told the 2nd time firmly that she was helping a customer. Remember the Customer #2, who told me good luck with complaining because they don't care. She was a White lady. I was so sure that they would respond, that I said someone would do something, she said they don't care. This store has gone down. Well, the sad part is that the White customer had to tell me the Black customer that CVS on university boulevard did not care. The sad thing is, the white customer was right -they don't care. I spoke with a few people who work in retail and told what happened to me. They were surprised that the employee was a Manager and said it was racial discrimination. After one month later, and still have not heard from them. I am no longer a loyal customer. I hope that another pharmacy moves into the area and give them some healthy competition. A Walgreens would be the perfect competition. After having a white customer tell me they don't care, I now believe they don't care! Was what happened to me discrimination? I firmly believe so. I also believe Customer #2 had something happen or seen something because she knew that the store would do nothing regarding my allegation of discrimination. It's unbelievable how bad they are ! They said my prescription was going to be ready by 1pm. I go in and then said they didn't have my insurance in file.. then they said to come back at 8pm.. then they said they would need 3 days to fill it !!! This has happened to me more then 3 times ! I rarely leave negative reviews, if at all, but this CVS has pissed me off so many times to the point where I have no choice. I work right around the corner and have for about 2 years now, so I've been somewhat of a regular at this CVS. Everything was fine and I had no issues...until recently. On numerous occasions for the past several months there has been a "chip malfunction" error when I try to swipe my debit card at the front register on the far right side. It only happens at this one register in the store and I've never had issues anywhere else as many times as I have swiped my card- it's a standard visa debit card from TD Bank! It's always the same lady working that register, I believe she's African, and she is not pleasant to deal with. Instead of apologizing and trying to correct the issue, she blames my card and sends me back in line (and yes, there is ALWAYS a line because they never have enough people working the registers) to wait for another cashier. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND UNACCEPTABLE!!! I will not be shopping here again. It's a rip-off anyway... you're paying for convenience and it's not even convenient for me anymore! All of the items they sell can be purchased elsewhere much cheaper and their coupons are mostly useless. read more

This is for the store not the pharmacy portion which I would give a 3 star not 1. I love this CVS they are very caring and helpful staff. They are open 24 hours a day. There are automated cash registers. All the usual items in a convince store. The only downside is the parking. other than that. I always choose to go here first if I need something quickly. Also my wife has been using CVS for her pharmacy since she moved into the area when we were still just dating in 2008 and yes there are problems but there are problems with EVERY pharmacy, its the Medical insurance industry that is the problem. The point being, she has a terminal illness BARELY struggling on and this CVS makes sure her medicine in is order. They have given a weeks worth of medications for her when its not ready to fill but she is out of her meds. They have forced through prescriptions before and talked with her insurance to clear prescriptions that was getting an error or other things. The medical industry in the US is trash if you are not rich, the bold ugly truth. This place CVS is average par the course of it all, easily not the worst. read more

i've come to this pharmacy for maybe 4 years, and never had a problem. Always had good service, good customer service. Not so much recently. A prescription was sent over on a Friday, directly from my doctor, to be filled. I received a text message, saying the order was received, and I would get another text when it was ready. Nothing came that day, or the next day. Finally on Sunday evening, I called to see what was going on, and if my prescription was ready. I know they get busy, and since it wasn't an immediate need, I figured I'd wait a bit before calling. On Sunday evening, I was told by the tech that they were out of my prescription, and would not get more until Tuesday (being a holiday weekend, of course). They never called to tell me that or give me a heads up. On top of that, it was a controlled substance, so because it came directly from my doctor to this particular pharmacy, it couldn't be transferred to any other pharmacy, including a different CVS. The tech couldn't even tell me if other CVS pharmacies had that medicine, unless she actually called the other locations. There is really no computer inventory to determine how they can work together to help customers? When I asked the tech why I wasn't called or informed, she only said she agreed someone should have called. Not to mention, it was a holiday weekend. So my prescription that I expected on Friday wouldn't be ready until at least Tuesday, and that was if they actually received the shipment. And there was nothing I could do, because it was a holiday weekend. When I contacted CVS on Facebook to complain, they said they would pass along the information to the store, so I could be called. I never got a call. After messaging the CVS Facebook page several times over the next couple weeks, I FINALLY got a call from CVS 3 weeks after the initial incident. The reason it took so long is because they claimed my number had been disconnected. The same number I gave them 3 different times on Messenger. I finally told CVS to never mind, and that I didn't want to deal with them anymore. I was sick of the whole thing, and both CVS Corporate (or whoever runs the Facebook page) and this store completely dropped the ball and just didn't seem to care. Just passed the buck back and forth. I've always had great history with CVS, but this was just unacceptable and pathetic. Norman, if you're still at this store, 3 weeks of bothering you to call me back is complete crap. read more

To all, be warned...stay away from this pharmacy at all costs. If you happen to be a person of color, your healthcare does not matter. The Indian pharmacist (I don't have her name, but at the time of this review, she's the short pregnant one who works at night) is a devout racist. She took one look at me, as I tried to purchase insulin syringes (diabetic for over 20 years) and rejected me without reason. At this point, my blood sugar was over 300 (I inadvertently left my syringe kit at home). Per Maryland guidelines, coupled with COMAR guidelines, insulin syringes do not need a prescription, which pharmacies should adhere to when dealing with a customer upon request. After many failed attempts dealing with this racist scum, I ultimately purchased the syringes from the pharmacy tech, who brought up my profile in their database and realized I've purchased my diabetic supplies from CVS for the past 20 years. So, be warned. A tech conducting the job of a certified pharmacist is a red flag to stay the Hell away from this location. read more

This has got to be the most disorganized, inefficiently run CVS in Montgomery County. The only reason I go here is because I don't drive and it's about a mile walk from my house. Everytime I try to pick up a prescription, it's not ready even though they have sent me a text saying it is ready. The lines here are extremely long for both the check out and the pharmacy and the store is clearly understaffed. I used to go to a different CVS and have never had these experiences. 4/4/15 Saturday evening, I came to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. PharmD took apart the already bagged prescription and gave me one bottle and kept two. He said they were short ON THE SHELF. He made me come back on 4/6/15 Monday for the other two. Isn't it first come first serve? Why inconvenience me and not the people who came in later. I had to make TWO trips to get my medicine. Cannot think of a worse pharmacy in the area. Their customer service is terrible. The wait for prescriptions is unreasonable. The wait is particularly in the drive-thru, which they apparently forget to serve for 15-20 minutes at a time. They filled an old dosage of my medications when a newer, higher dose was called in. I use CVS to buy medication and travel items. CVS employees are not that helpful or friendly. However, The pharmacists are helpful in answering questions though they are very busy. It can be hard finding parking and I have encountered homeless people at night in front of the store. read more
