The location is great. It's right on 8th Avenue a few blocks from Columbus Circle. This place is expensive but they have mostly everything you'd be looking for. There are a lot of workers and they're always friendly and helpful. They do have a bathroom but you have to an associate to access it. They have escalators and elevators I believe. read more

If you had to choose one store to shop for the essentials, this would be it. Open 24/7/365. Sure you have what you'd expect, a pharmacy, and other helpful products, band-aids, shampoo, vitamins and all the other whatnot's. Do you need a great selection of makeup, it's here. Forget to pack your socks or did TSA steal your under-ware (yes it's happened to me) you can replace it here, they even had leggings and some shirts, snacks and some groceries, again check. Hell, I don't have to even pack anymore. Not much more to say about a CVS, other than this one I like, I wish the one by my house was this nice, the only thing they have in common are the hours. This one is clean, well stocked and has helpful employees. I'll definitely be back it's right down from where I always stay, and I always forget a whatnot or two when I pack. read more

First, let me preface this review with the fact that I am a physician, so I know how things work (I deal with this stuff all day long). I have been trying to refill my medication for 7 months now...yeah...7 MONTHS! I have Aetna, which is owned by CVS, so I am REQUIRED to fill my medication at CVS. I NEVER had a problem at Duane Reade, where I have been getting this medication for the past few years without a problem! I called CVS Customer service many times.....never useful! I spoke top some at CVS Corporate, who seemed alarmed that it had been 7 months now since I have been able to get my medication. She asked me to go to ANOTHER CVS, because the manager there was "one of the best." This brings me to this CVS, at 57th and 8th, and the pharmacy manager Nicollette Rojas. Well, now it has been another 6 weeks.....and guess what.....STILL NO MEDICATION!!! I have been in contact with my doctor this whole time. The prior authorization was done over 3 weeks ago, but nobody at this pharmacy gives a damn! When I called today, I spoke with Nicollette Rojas again. First, she told me her "associate" called my doctor several times, and they never did the prior authorization. I told her, that is simply NOT true. I told her they had done it weeks ago, and I have a copy of the approval conformation. She proceeded to tell me that it was done with the wrong insurance company. She told me, that I have "Caremark" not "RX Benefits, where your doctor did the prior auth." I told her I would just do the prior authorization myself since I am a physician. I asked her for the phone number to call in the prior authorization. When I called the number, the first thing i hear is "thank you for calling Rx Benefits..." WTF! I called Nicollette Rojas back, and told her she gave me the number for Rx Benefits! She was utterly confused! She blamed the problem on her "associate." She put me on hold for 15 minutes. When she got back on the phone, she told me that it went through, and my copy would be $120. I said that is fine. She said she had the order ready, and put it on the side. I needed to bring in the paper prescription, as this is a controlled drug (that I already knew). I show up at the pharmacy and......nothing is ready! They tel me they can't fill the medication, because I already filled a 3 month supply at the store on 70th and West End Ave! ARE YOU KIDDING ME????????? After sitting on the floor of the pharmacy for over an hour (Nicollette told me it would take 2 minutes), I left with NO MEDICATION! The "associate" Nicollette refereed to was a pharmacist named Amela. She is by far the RUDEST, MOST CONDESCENDING, and OBNOXIOUS person I have ever spoken to. My doctor and his office staff have also filled complaints against her. She was blatantly lying to my face! She refused to give me her name, so I had to ask another associate. How is this acceptable??????????? Nobody at CVS seems to know what they are doing, nor do they give a crap! I had surgery for kidney stones less than a week ago. I had to sit on the floor crying! Nobody at the pharmacy could even offer a chair.....i had to sit ON THE FLOOR! I have given CVS every opportunity to rectify this situation, and I have been more than patient! I'm DONE with CVS!!!! Then I hung up and called back and already on hold for ten minutes and no one is picking up. I am writing this review of the Minute Clinic; the rest of the store is a pretty standard CVS. I scheduled a flu shot for Saturday morning a 10:30am (you can make the appointment online). The email you receive says you should arrive early, so I got there at 10:20am and checked in via the computer. I was not seen until 10:45am, which was a little annoying, but it could have been worse. There was one very irate woman who checked in before me and yet somehow got put in the queue after me, I'm guessing because I had an appointment and she was a walk-in. It looked like if you had walked-in, it would take about an hour to be seen. There was only one nurse seeing people. He was nice and the room was clean, although I'm not sure I'd go there for anything more complicated than a vaccination. The appointment itself, which included going through my insurance, took about 10 minutes, so I was at CVS for a total of 35 minutes. I'm not sure what kind of appointment the woman ahead of me had, but hers took about ten minutes too. Overall, I'm not thrilled it took 35 minutes to get a flu shot when I had an appointment, but I got the shot and that's all I really cared about. read more

Am I at a CVS or a Best Buy? CVS and Duane Reade seem to be locked in a war of who can build the biggest mega-pharmacy in the city. This location is huge as it is spread across 2 floors of brightly lit shopping madness. I live down the street, so this is sort of my neighborhood CVS. I don't come here for food or cosmetics, only healthcare-related stuff. For healthcare-related stuff, this store has a deep selection of just about everything you could possibly need from ankle braces to herbal supplements. They also have a very good pharmacy with a knowledgeable staff and they have excellent hours. This is my go to shop for my healthcare products - and the fact that they are next to my bus stop and subway station is only a bigger plus. read more

Prior to the pandemic, this was one of the better locations. The staff was always pleasant and courteous. It was always hit or miss with the merchandise but that was understandable because it is a high traffic area. Today was the first time I have visited in over a year and I doubt that I will return. The shelves were pretty much empty on the main level. The escalator was not working. The line at checkout was ridiculous because if you are paying by cash you HAVE to wait for the cashier, the self-checkout kiosks on taking cards. The cashier I dealt with lacked any customer service skills. A complete 180 from what I was used to at this particular location. So said, maybe Corporate needs to retrain the staff. read more

The markup on everything sold at this CVS is INSANE just because it's on Columbus Circle. It was like $6 more for a night cream here than what it was selling for on Amazon. Also, one of their security guards was blatantly following me around. I'm talking about this guy was following me around the two floors as I was trying to look for something! This was during the COVID-19 crisis too. Like my guy, social f'ing distancing! I, as someone fingerprinted by the state to be a certified teacher, am not going to steal some chocolate covered pretzels and a birthday card, buzz off please. They got one more star than they would have gotten because it's 24/7 (even during COVID-19!), which includes their pharmacy, and because they have A LOT here--tons of cosmetics and hygiene stuff too on the second floor. The pharmacy is doing free shipping for prescriptions (I don't know if that will stick around after the crisis) and they are also part of iPLEDGE if you're looking for a place that dispenses Accutane. read more

The pharmacy portion for the morning/day shift fucking sucks!!!!! Each time I or anyone in my family come to pick up medications the morning staff including the pharmacist are fucking rude and completely unprofessional and uninformed. They yell and raise their voices and are disrespectful to many in which are their to pick up prescriptions as well. My family and I literally wait till after 6pm preferably the overnight shift to get our medications. The night shift is lovely, helpful and professional and something should really be done. People are coming to them sick whether its critical or temporary and shouldn't be disrespected or embarrassed and mistreated. Nor should we have to wait till night to pick up just to avoid the frustration and bs that goes on in the morning. read more

The cashier was extremely rude and abusive. What a horrible way to start the day! Especially when I was already sick and all I wanted was my medicine. I couldn't remember if I had a CVS card and I told him I probably didn't. When he checked out my medicine, the cost was higher than it showed on the label in the aisle. He said the lower cost was only for CVS card holders, and got rude and defensive, "didn't I just ask you if you had a card?! F*** assh***". When I requested him to cross check my phone number to see if I had a card, he became very impatient, kept cursing and yelling at me. This is extremely unprofessional behavior. I started shopping at this location when it first opened. Since then, it's gone downhill. Everything is locked up and there seems to be not much of a point to even shop there. When we were at the height of the pandemic, I could see the point in locking up the cleaning materials so as to ration them. But I went into the store this week and saw that every bag of chocolate required customer assistance in order to buy one. There was also a camera in the area, directly at eye level. A lot of other things are locked away too, including hygiene products like deodorant. Why do you need to press the customer assistance button to buy a bag of chocolate candies or a smoothie? Also, there always seems to be a security guard near the makeup section on the second floor. Why? Buying makeup is supposed to be fun. It also takes people time to select the right product, so that may come off as suspicious activity to the security guards. Still, having a security guard right there as if watching for people to steal, takes the fun out of shopping. Why not use the monitors or do rounds instead of just standing there watching people in the makeup section? Another thing- Do the beauty consultants ever help? Their purpose is not clear. You could circle around the makeup section and never get asked if you need help-all the while, the consultant is right there. Are they or aren't they supposed to help anyone in the makeup section? I will be going out of my way to another CVS location just so I won't have to ask for customer assistance just to buy a juice or a bag of chocolate. read more

The pharmacy here is absolutely terrible. They never have prescriptions ready that were called in from the hospital, and they do NOT answer the phone. It's been over an hour trying to get someone to help. They hang up while you're on hold, and when you call back, the same exact thing happens. How can they be a pharmacy when people NEED medication following a huge surgery and they do not care to help??? read more

#1. Feel like wasting your time any day of the week? Call after 8:30 PM, press 3 for pharmacy and 4 to speak to someone. Wait on hold for 20 seconds and get hung up on. Repeat if you enjoy that kind of thing. Call any other time, and you'll be put on hold for at least 5 minutes until another associate picks up offering to help. Explain you were being helped and listen to the back chatter between associates, that the simple request for prescription refill information was too difficult to understand so they put you on hold... forever. #2. Prefer wasting your time at the store? Ask about a refill, while getting other refills. You'll be told the computers at the refill counter are "very limited" and you have to go over to the consultation counter, which apparently have superior computers... but no one staffing them. You can wait there as long as you like... again, if you enjoy that kind of thing. #3. Maybe you like the web. Try to fill a prescription you know is on file; or don't, because it won't show up, ever, at all. Your only options at this point are to either call (see #1) or visit the store (#2). With so many options of wasting my time at CVS, I've gone back to Duane Reade and not looked back. Don't make the mistake I did of subjecting yourself to this management failure. read more

SO horribly disorganized. They somehow got my pharmacy profile confused with another person's. Chaos ensued including one very frazzled woman throwing prescription packets on the floor while yelling as she looked for mine. They sent me from one long line to another, which I waited in until they called me back to the original line. Then they accused me of impersonating another customer, which I was not doing. Had to show them two forms of ID (thank god I had my passport on me) for them to understand that they had made a mistake on their system. After all this, I waited another ten minutes for them to actually fill my prescription. And had to wait in line again. Never again. I'm going back to Duane Reade even if it is a farther walk from my new office. read more

Every time I call ahead for my RX so I don't have to wait around, I spend at least 15 minutes on hold to speak to a rude pharmacist. Despite this, my Rx is never ready when I get there, even when I come when they tell me to. Between being on hold, waiting in lines, and then waiting again for my medications I usually end up wasting between 45-60 minutes every three weeks for a simple in stock med. Fortunately Isaac is always polite and quick and helps keep the flow moving, but everyone else in the pharmacy department clearly doesn't want to be there. I'm in the process of switching my meds to Walgreens so it's not such a consistent nightmare. read more

A large layout franchise pharmacy nearby Columbus Circle with two levels. Pharmacy is on the upper level with a huge layout and they carry Cepacol throat lozenges in hopes to subside my plaguing non-stop cough. A good selection of brand name and generic over the counter medications are in stock. Recently built as judging the cleanliness and like-new condition. There are four self-serve machine checkouts as well as two human cash registers. Staff are courteous. read more

No. You're at the the holy grail of all CVSes. This is the flagship so you can imagine what shopping here would be like. I'm always a big fan of CVS because of their coupons and extra bucks. Shopping here is a bargain compared to other pharmacies. This place is 2 stories and has every thing you can imagine, extremely well stocked, you can even find stuff you'd see at whole foods like coconut chips, cold press juices, POM juice and more. They even have food from panera, fresh produce, and salads. There are public restrooms on the 2nd floor. You never need to walk down the stairs here because it's all equipped with escalators. The place is so big it's like 3 CVSes in one. read more

Don't be fooled by "glass" exterior and multi-story structure. This CVS sullies the brand. I've been an enthusiastic proponent of CVS, as many of you know, and have wielded it in larger debates against "small is beautiful" localists who don't appreciate the virtues of strong centralized infrastructure. In Phoenix and need to refill a prescription because you left your bottle back at home? No problem. Get out the CVS app, and boom, it's ready 1 hour later. Try that with your local pharmacy that doesn't give its employees decent benefits. This CVS, though, is awful. It's an insult to queuing theory, with overcrowding at the top due to inadequate distribution of personnel throughout the story. That affects ability to get items that require somebody to remove magnetic security tags. The place also looks kind of sad. It reminds me of Rite Aid, not CVS. Shame! read more

Mmmmm...that new store smell... I happened upon this CVS while walking from the M31 bus stop to Whole Foods; I was just going to truck over to my old standby, the Duane Reade on 58th and 8th, but low and behold, like a phoenix, this CVS appeared. It has a nice two level layout, with foods and other convenience items on the bottom and everything you'd need on the second floor. I was there to buy a new pair of pantyhose and was disappointed by the lack of selection at the time...but no matter. The rest of it is gorgeous, kind of akin to many of the new and improved Duane Reades around the city; think the 72nd and Broadway location with its two levels and its impeccable cosmetics section that's trying to one-up Sephora. This is definitely worth a stroll two blocks south of Columbus Circle if you're in the area. I feel bad abandoning my tried and true aforementioned Duane Reade for this place...but... read more

Upon entering CVS, we were greeted warmly by the front end employees. But that all changed when we got back to the pharmacy. After calling about my prescriptions around 9am and told to come back in 2 hours, we were told at 215 pm that they weren't ready! So we sat and waited. I realized they didn't have all my prescriptions when paying. I mentioned this to the employee, but he had no idea what I was talking about. Another woman who told us to come back in 2 hours, saw this and said, "Oh, that will have to be ordered". Why did they tell us to come in but never told us that the med had to be ordered? This has to be the worst pharmacy I have ever visited... the behind the counter staff is both rude and condescending. I had to repeat my request to four or five different people, none of whom had a clue about GoodRx - a service they supposedly support! And when I finally did receive my meds the next day - the price was almost twice what I was quoted on GoodRx... and I paid for a Gold Membership to save money. Stupid me! And today, I called about my medication refill and was told that their system had been down for SIX hours. When I asked what I should do, they said to have my doctor call Duane Reade. Came here to refill a prescription. The person helping me was a pharmacist-in-training: a 20-something year old guy. Tried refilling my prescription and the guy said my prescription got rejected. He called my insurance and couldn't explain to the Cigna customer service what was going on. I forgot my insurance card with him. Came back 4 days later to retry picking up my prescription again. I was helped by a friendly and helpful woman. First, I asked about my card and the guy had lost it. Second, I tried refilling my prescription again and it got rejected again. This time I called Cigna and asked the pharmacist what information they needed from them. The pharmacist said that they would need the BIN, PNC, Group, and ID numbers from my insurance. While on the phone with Cigna, after I gave that information to the pharmacist my prescription went through with no issues. The problem was that they had the wrong information all along. Never in my life have I experienced anything like this. They promise to deliver my prescriptions and then fail to. This has happened over 10 times!!! My insurance is aligned with CVS or I would change to Duane Reade. Despite all of my SEVERAL attempts to have this remedied, they have left me without medication Over, and Over, and Over again. I LOVE this CVS! When I walked in yesterday, all of the associates working welcomed me to the store and told me enthusiastically that they were there for me if I needed anything at all. I needed a passport photo taken, which I thought was going to be quite the process. I was a walk in for a DOT physical.. seems simple enough, but i was wrong. firstly, their kiosk, or touch screen desperately needs replacing, the arrow doesn't land where i tough the screen. it must have taken me 15 minutes to enter my personal information, it would seem simple enough to attach a simple 20 dollar keyboard, the person ahead of me chimed right in with full agreement when i pointed out that their machine was possessed. okay, sign in complete... they see the person ahead of me, and i wait patiently. 40 minutes after i arrived, they tell me they don't have time to do the physical. it was 6:45, and their website clearly states that they close at 7:30, and walk ins are welcome. i explained that i walked in the door just after 6, spent 15 minutes of hell entering my data, and they still kept me waiting 25 more minutes before telling me they wouldn't see me. no more CVS for me, got my physical the next day at CItiMD for less than CVS charges, the Doctor there was friendly too, bye CVS, no more business from me til i get an apology read more

Popped in for some quick passport photos. It was really busy, but each employee I passed smiled and asked if I needed any help. Once I got to the photo section I waved down Mina who was kind enough to take on the challenge of not making my passport photo look like a mug shot. I came to this CVS at 2:30am with my friend who was desperately in need of a restroom. They told us where it was without being annoying about buying anything or the time of day. Afterwards, we spent the next 30 minutes perusing everything the store had to offer. They have a separate (big) section of their candy just for "sugar free" snacks and they had an entire section of just different face masks that I've never seen so abundant of in my life. They really have it all there, and though I can't speak to their customer service as there were no employees (just security and self-checkout lines) the security was nice and accommodating. read more
