Nothing works in this store. The pharmacy is ok, but nothing spectacular about it. The store, on the other hand, is the worst CVS in the bay area. It has a Moneygram kiosk that hasn't worked consistently in years. A good for nothing telephone system that might as well be relocated in a cemetery because even the automated service just leads callers into a dead end. read more

There's almost always only one register open, which leads to long lines and unnecessary wait times. When customers ask questions, the staff often seem rushed and eager to answer quickly just to move on -- it doesn't feel like genuine customer service. On top of that, there's rarely enough product for the advertised deals. Most of the time, there are only one or two items available for promotions, which is frustrating. I don't think all of this is the staff's fault -- it seems clear they're understaffed and overwhelmed. I was seriously underwhelmed by the service I received at their pharmacy. First they needed "confirmation" from my dentists office to fill my prescription, even though the prescription had literally just been sent to them, so not sure why that was necessary. The office was closing soon and was not answering their phone, so since we live a good 2 hrs from Newark, it obviously needed to be taken care of asap. We ended up having to drive back to my dentist and let them know what was up so they could confirm right away. Again, crazy unnecessary. To make matters worse, they would not accept my goodrx coupon, even after I'd just spent nearly all my funds on emergency dental surgery. The pharmacist's reason? "I'm just not comfortable discounting it since it's a controlled substance." Nice to know that it was *your* decision and therefore your choice not to help me out. read more

I went to pickup pictures and walked up to one of the staff to ask for help. The woman who helped seem to be in a very bad mood. She was being rude for no reason! I literally just entered the store.We got to the counter and she said "one of these days, she'll burn all the pictures." She just didn't seem to want to help customers. I told her I was going to pick up two orders but told me in an annoyed tone that "she can only handle one at a time." So, I said "no problem" as I was trying to be understanding and I just wanted to let her know I had two orders. I wasn't rushing her or anything. But, she seemed so angry and was giving me so much attitude for no reason. Her co-worker was looking at me, embarrassed for her. He was awkwardly laughing/smiling because of what she was saying. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT - I suggest you NEVER buy gift cards from CVS Pharmacy. They are a total rip off! We purchased 2 gift cards for $50 a piece...looked them completely over mind you and they did NOT look tampered with. Opened both of them up to redeem them and the security strip just fell off and the second set of numbers were scratched off so you could not read them to redeem (on 2 seperate cards mind you). I called the Newark CVS, spoke to the manager, Shugusa and was told yes they knew it was an issue just call the # on the outside of the Amazon card. They are only a 3rd party vendor.....yea a 3rd party vendor that is making $ off off you selling bogus gift cards! You still get your percentage for selling them! Please explain this? You have everyday items that get stolen on the daily behind locked plexi glass that you need a employee to unlock in order to purchase it.....yet your gift cards (which apparently you have a known issue with) UNPROTECTED? Staff members could use a little help with customer service. Came here on a Friday afternoon around 3pm. Encountered an employee who was rude not only to me, but to my 4 year old. He ended up crying and asked why she was so mean. I was shocked at her unprofessional attitude, choice of words, and tone of voice towards a child. Unprofessional and Vulgar language used in the open area where pharmacy technicians gather. Usually the pharmacy technicians are awesome and so chilled. But since the pharmacist is at lunch there is louder conversations with the pharmacy technicians using vulgar language. The one person who is the cashier person looks embarrassed to be assisting the patients that have to hear the other 4 loud and vulgar conversations. What seems to happen is more training in what to do and say to patients while the Pharmacist is at lunch both in person and over the phone Two stars for the embarrassed coworker who had to apologize for her coworkers in the back. read more

Save your time and frustration and drive to the next closest CVS. The shelves are either completely empty or locked cages. Half the store is empty and the employees are miserable. Of the limited items you can find here, they are locked up and you have to wait 15 minutes for someone to help you. Don't even try a pick up order because they won't fill it. They will either just not fill it at all, or they'll cancel it because they don't have the product or anyone to fill the order. The employees are always miserable, you either can't find one or they are standing around complaining. They don't open check outs, they just rely on guests to check themselves out at the self checkout line and heaven forbid you have a return, you'll be sneered at and treated like crap. It's a miserable, 3/4 empty store that really should just be closed down at this point. I would recommend not supporting this store and drive to the next closest one where you might actually find what you need on the shelves and not get treated like an inconvenience. read more

The doctor (mid aged Asian male) today here at the minute clinic was very nice. While I noticed that someone in the vaccination line didn't have insurance, then this CVS charged her more than 60 dollars for Flu and more than 100 dollars for Covid. I believe that Covid should be free regardless of insurance, and the same Flu vaccine at Costco only costs 19.99 dollars. I asked the doctor why the Flu here is so expensive, the doctor told me that here in this CVS the min charge for vaccines is 40 dollars. This is ridiculous and totally unfair. If you don't have a good insurance, just go somewhere else that provide the same vaccines at a much lower price. read more

I do get my med's here and, honestly, I feel bad for the pharmacy workers. They are constantly short-staffed (like so many places like this) and get yelled at constantly by impatient customers. I have always found the workers here kind, pleasant and helpful. The pharmacists are always so nice to answer any questions when I have a new medication. The staff are impatient and unkind. My girlfriend had a disposable camera developed in December and they said it should be done in 2 weeks. We called in 3 weeks and the staff were rude, yelling at her that the disposables would take a month. We called again today (2 months after the disposables were given to them), and the employees could not find the pictures and claimed that the pictures hadn't been delivered yet. They are not reliable for any business, and the staff are rude for no reason. I do not recommend coming here, especially if you need to develop pictures. read more

I was blamed by cashier Erwin for walking around the store before returning a single item with a valid receipt. I walked around for something I'd like to purchase in addition to just returning a product, but to no avail. So I ended up just returning a single item I purchased last night. He said it was the rule of the store that customers should return products before shopping. He said he would not know if the item was indeed what I had purchased or something I just took from the shelf. (It was one box 'Zantac', a locked item, purchased last night) I said if you wanted to regulate customer's behavior, you should have posted the rule on your front door before customers entered the store. And if CVS has shopping rule for customers they should inform customers not their employees who could use it to blame customers for not following the rules. It ended up he refused to serve me and I returned the item through another employee. It was a unpleasant and unforgettable experience and I would probably not going there any more. read more
