When checking out they often have few registers available and even fewer baggers available. More to the point current management seems too limited for night shifts as i was told "I'm only one person" when i tried asking the manager why they had a few employees standing and talking together in the self check out area while not enough baggers to help those checking out in the register lanes. As the Holiday season is almost upon us perhaps they should add an additional manager at nights to help keep things running smoothly. Overall just not a very clean organized well managed looking store. Another interesting problem they are aware off for some time but never have fixed is if you check prices on the website (by pc) the prices are always higher than if you check the app for the exact same items. I went to the Military and Pleasanton H‑E‑B and it was like night & day, so clean, respectful managers and cashiers, well stocked with a variety of items not available at the Zarzamora and Military H‑E‑B plus like numerous Gluten Free items. Plenty of baggers and registers open. The store layout is really nice. A very well managed clean looking store. I would like to give my HEB a better review but it needs plenty of work going forward. One other thing i would like to mention in hopes of things getting better, I purchased a 12" Pumpkin Pie from Sam's Club for $5.98 and it was delicious. I purchased a 10" Pumpkin Pie from the Zarzamora and Military H‑E‑B plus for $9.98 and it was terrible, Really bad recipe. Please look into getting a better recipe for Pumpkin Pie and Fix the Pricing discrepancy please & Thank you.

Obviously there's no actual pharmacy here since it's on the river level with no access to street parking. It's not even your standard CVS. Sure, they have the basics like snacks, cosmetics, etc, but what tickled me were the ducky plushies in cowboy and beaver hats. There are also post cards and $20 phone chargers, one of which I needed since I accidentally left mine at the hotel. Would I come here to buy anything otherwise? Probably not, but it was certainly worth checking out. And the cashier was also very nice. She did ask if I have a phone number with CVS (I haven't for several years now. I wonder if they ever actually close those years old inactive accounts). She also allowed me to simply use the reusable bag from the Alamo we already had with us to save the trouble. Oh and an entire aisle dedicated to Texas and San Antonio. It was a fun time. Also, the shelves could probably stand to be wiped down more. Lots of dust. And what's this? No kitty cats to greet me? Now I'm sad. :( I'd come back just to see them, and they're good for keeping rodents away. So for the cat haters out there, bear in mind they're smarter than many give them credit for as they hunt mice and birds to keep the river walk free of infestations.

On monday, 121916 i dropped off the prescription for 5mthf. Also advised we were going on vacation friday 122316 and they said they could have it next day. I also explained that they would have to call my insurance co to get auth since it was an early vacation request and advised they would call me if any problems. Everything was peachy. Today, I went in to pick up the script, NOT READY and had a not mix at pick up. The same gentleman said, has my husband ever been here before and does he have insurance. I advised I gave him the insurance card which he copied, then he told me if they make it, it would be $195! This blew my mind as it is covered at my regular pharmacy and is $20 for a 30 day supply. He then consults the pharmacist, he asks if this is a sterile or non sterile compound, I dont know, im not a pharmacist. Then he proceed to call my old pharmacy to ask questions. he wanted to know how to compound the rx and how did they bill to get the insurance to cover it. Then he tells me that the pharmacy was very rude and would not tell him. (really? why should they do his job?) Now we are just going in circles so I asked for the prescription back and I would take it back to my old pharmacy. This location is very close to my home. This is why i decided to give your business the opportunity to gain my business. If this went well, I would do all my rx's here. The opposite was true, this was a very terrible experience and I will never use this pharmacy again. I will also post this on YELP.

There's another one close by that's even closer to the river that you can only get in by way of the Riverwalk. This CVS only has a streetside entrance. I don't know what the world record is for the smallest CVS pharmacy, but this is definitely one of the smaller ones out there, so you can imagine the lack of variety in their merchandise. It's mostly snacks inside, but you'll find a few other non-food items in the rear of the shop. However, it's not very well-maintained. I came in three times during my stay in San Antonio. One just to browse around, and two to purchase a snack. On my first trip, the store was empty, and I saw two employees working at the front. On my second trip, the store had a handful of customers, but I didn't recognize an employee until he went up to the front minutes later to service a customer. I was looking around for a small snack, but I was kind of disappointed in what they had. Not that I'm comparing this to the Buc-ee's in New Braunfels, but there are a handful of snacks I would remember at other CVS locations that I couldn't find here. So the small snack I was planning to get had to be a little larger than I expected, which meant spending a little more. I got a Cheetos popcorn, which was the last one they had in stock the evening I went. That was the only item I recall that I hadn't seen before at any CVS. There might have been others, but the Cheetos popcorn was the most noticeable to me. However, upon checkout, I noticed some milk cartons lying on a table, not inside a refrigerator. I touched them, and they weren't even cold at all! Such a small store, but nobody realized the milk that's going to go bad real soon or has gone bad already? And speaking of checkout, if not for the two self-checkout stands at the front of the store, you might be waiting a while for an employee to ring you up, especially if they are assisting other customers. I made another visit on my last week here, and I was the only customer in the store at the time. There were two employees, but neither greeted me or offered to help. I wanted to get an ice cream sandwich, but the price tags were missing on a lot of them! I had to use the coupon scanner to find out the price of them. So inefficient and annoying to have to run back and forth just to find out the prices. I used the self-checkout again because I didn't think the employees were in a mood to ring me up. My suspicion was confirmed when one of them simply glanced at me without a word as I walked out the door with zero intention to make a return visit. If you're looking to make a (hopefully) quick stop to pick up a snack, and you happen to be in the immediate vicinity, this CVS will at least be there to answer your call. Otherwise, I would recommend going to some other CVS, like the other one with the Riverwalk entrance.
