Rudest. Pharmacy. Staff. Ever. Everyone I've spoken to here acts like it's their first day here and they woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I've been hung up on because I "wasn't speaking up." When Julie picks up the phone she lets me know "there's a bunch of calls ahead of you, do you wanna hold?" Not to bad of a place to head to. The place is clean and easy to find what you are looking for. I need to head to the RX. After looking for a place I saw that they were opened . They gave me great service with a smile and handed me my drugs. The only thing that really bugged me is the homeless people out and about. Right next to Starbucks just camped out with now worries at all. I felt that this is just another basic store with cheap things to sell you. But the Rx part is really well run. This is strictly in reference to the actual Pharmacy: 1. INDISCREET 2. Unprofessional 3. Inefficient A couple of the staff do not deserve the above description but the majority of the staff set the curve. On separate occasions now, I've seen pharmacists bumbling around behind the counter, dishing out poor customer service, mumbling incoherent medical advice and in some cases, showcasing downright incompetence about prescription meds. The worst staff members avoid eye contact with you and are just plain rude. There is a general lack of helpfulness and they seem to not care about you at all. I pity the elderly that get their prescriptions filled here. I've seen too many a confused little old grannie trying to understand why her insurance isn't covering her medicine and the "consultation" is being rushed through, since they are trying to get to the next customer in line. Bottom line, within the health industry, there is a SENSITIVITY issue. Everyone has illnesses and ailments requiring this or that drug. Strive for superb customer service, do your job well and give healthCARE a good name. read more

The female working at the counter this evening is multitasking like crazy. An now this old woman cut in line, parallel parks her cart, and asks some questions about filling her prescription. When I say old I mean old and needs a walker but doesn't have one. Alright, so she calls me up and I applaud her on her wonderful multitasking skills. The store manager is dreadful she has an attitude and smells of beef a ratchet way to customer service one lady named Reyna I think she was the supervisor- I asked for help with baby lotion she told me that if I didn't know what I was looking for then maybe I should go and get my GED stupid and walked away mad then this other lady Margo told me she hasn't eaten lunch and started talking about her vacation coming up this store is crazy. My go to pharmacy because its open 24 hours, and close to work and school. Usually busy, I only use the pick up window call in refills. There have been a few times I've tried to stop and pick up in the morning on my way into work but they only have one person working the drop off and pick up window so I've had to wait much longer than anticipated. read more

PARTY AT CVS.....IF YOU ARE 60 PLUS! When I walk into this CVS, I swear I feel like I am visiting my family at the Senior center! Everyone here is over the age of 60+. I ain't mad at them but you sure do get a whiff of ben gay and Geritol when you walk through the doors! Granted this is a HUGE CVS and they seem to have everything I have ever needed but they need to hire people who are younger to help dust off the items at the store and just maintain the appearance of the store! Also, they need to figure out there line situation. There has been many times people have cut in front of me in line and act like they didn't seem me! I go here a lot and just can't figure out the two star rating. Actually, I can't believe I've Mavericked a badge for going here because everyone has been polite and professional. This place is no better or worse than any other drug store. They have the Minute Clinic which wasn't that useful. They were really hesitant on prescribing drugs for my respiratory infection. I had to go to a real doctor for that. But I understand - they were just being overly cautious with all antibiotic resistance that's out there. And with insurance, only cost me $10 to get told to try something over the counter. My real doctor was a little surprised that they didn't prescribe a low level antibiotic (like a Sulfa drug). This is my only major complaint. I think the clinic is probably more suited for other things like removing splinters or getting a prescription that you normally get refilled. read more

Last night I went here in search of facial tissues and came out empty handed. CVS in Clairemont square is the den of the desparate and leanto of the lost souls. Grabbing a rusty shopping cart where one of the wheels does not turn properly, I am forced to bend over to reach the all too short handles, and my back seizes up on me. This is where I feel the dark forces upon my soul. Inside this store has the pepetual air of a place where midnight has passed, but dawn never came. Crackheads and Zombies wander the crooked aisles pretending to buy something, their only company other undead. No sales people to "help" you. No one tidying the shelves. No one fixing the flickering flourescent bulbs. I have been here many times, barely alive myself, but have found only cheap cigarettes behind the counter and cattle lines of other customers awaiting their slaughter by the zombies in the yard. read more

Worst cvs ever. I went to go pick up prescription that was sent here. I went to drop off to update insurance and the tech said 10 minutes. I roamed the store but hadn't heard my name announced so I returned to pharmacy area. After waiting patiently for another 5-10 minutes, I asked the tech on the status of the prescription. She said they were still working on it and expedited the prescription. I saw everyone else come and go and finally I asked for the status of my prescription again. The tech had the audacity to say she couldn't check it - which is wrong. I asked her to check where the prescription was on the queue. She *reluctantly* typed my name up and saw that it was ready and found it in the bins. So pharmacist checked it off and didn't put it in the Yellow waiter basket but put it in the nonwaiter bins. I was pissed and asked the tech to passed on the message that the pharmacist not only placed an expedited rx on the wrong bin and didn't also announce my name. She said I should do it myself. Overall, I was not happy with the wait time, attitude of tech, and the inefficiency of the pharmacist. Won't be returning. read more

My mom sadly died recently. I found 2 packages of very expensive support stockings/or more like tall knee socks, that she never wore, in her home. They were still in the boxes. I did find a receipt, which always helps. CVS gave me a full store credit for the 2 boxes of socks/stockings. I have a card with nearly $100 on it. They gave me no trouble at all, even though I did not purchase the items, my mom did. I am glad they were so fast and easy about it. I can buy things I need, like cat food, cat litter; they also carry food, toothpaste, many things I use daily. Thank you CVS. read more

I was not happy with a blood pressure monitor purchased here. Got it back home and it had been opened and used with the batteries installed. This should not have been put back on the shelf once it was returned. Had to return it, and they were good about it. But, it made a bad impression. read more

Jipped by the coinstar machine. I wouldn't be writing a negative review for CVS unless they gave me a reason to. I understand coinstar probably has a deal with CVS for % of profit made. My issue was when I let one of the employees know that the coinstar machine took my money and didn't count it properly she started to accuse me of lying. I have no reason to lie and the fact that she tried to put the blame on me was disgusting. read more

Came here to pick up my grandpas prescriptions after taking him to urgent care and I am soooooo glad I personally use Costco pharmacy. I spoke to cold & dismissive BETTY, I asked to confirm they received the electronic prescription, make sure it was in stock and let her know I am here to pick them up on my g-pas behalf. She said "we received them" and then walked away. A minute later she walks back says "you have question about it" and I said "yes, I have not used this pharmacy before, how will I know when they are ready?" (at Costco you receive a text message, this place does not have my phone number) and she said "i'm not taking to you, I'm taking to the pharmacist" and walked away again. I was pretty flabbergasted at this point. So I waited since nobody was behind me and she came back and said "do you need something" and said "Yes! I'm trying to explain hat I've never been here before, so will I know they are ready, are you going to shout, text, call" She said "We will call you" and I said "HOW, you don't have my number, I'm picking up for some else" and she said "We will call you over the loudspeaker" and I said "jeeze, that's all I was asking. I started to walk away and I said I tried to tell you I was new to this pharmacy. Costco doesn't have a loudspeaker, neither does Rite Aid, you guys don't have my number so I didn't know" and said something along the lines of well there you go and just looks at me cold as ice, hardly making any eye contact. I've never met anyone so COLD and pissy in my entire life. Aside from being straight out cold, she was dismissive and incredibly unhelpful. I understand if she was busy but even so being helpful would have been way more efficient. She turned a simple exchange into a tedious task for someone who just left urgent care for their sick grandparent. Everyone else seemed decent and I got my grandpas meds fast but Betty put a really bad taste in my mouth, I was furious that level of care was acceptable there so I would suggest taking your business somewhere that has some decent customer service. Today I entered cvs pharmacy in hopes of finding a arm floatie, unfortunately there were no arm floaties in stock but I did meet the best employee of my life. Margot was exceedingly friendly, helpful, and genuinely made my day. 11/10 would recommend CVS in the clairemont square. We need more people like Margot. read more

VERY PITIFUL EXCUSE FOR A CLINIC I waited nearly a FULL 2 hours to see a "physician", with only 4 people in front of me at the start. (The name 'Minute Clinic' is a joke, as each patient takes on average from 25-35 minutes- I can't understand how this place can expect to make money seeing one customer every half hour.) Once you actually see the "physician", at least 15 minutes is spent just filling out a computer prompted background information and medical "exam" that I could have done on my own. I had a nasty respiratory infection and deep windpipe cough/mucus that followed on the tail end of being sick for a week with a cold/flu. (I know my body pretty well and am in good health, and know the difference between a cold/flu virus and a respiratory infection) Having a trip over thanksgiving in 2 days, and NOT wanting it to develop into full blown bronchitis or something from the travel, I just went in to get a quick antibiotic or steroid to make sure it goes away and stays away. After trying to describe my symptoms to the "physician", which she didn't really seem interested in anyways, she said she couldn't find anything wrong with me and wouldn't give me any kind of medicine at all other than cough syrup (even after I repeatedly mentioned that the problem was not in my throat but in my windpipe) I respectfully told her that if there wasn't anything wrong with me than would I really have waited 2 hours to try to get something to fix it? In the end, I wasted 3 hrs of my workday and $80 for absolutely nothing. The others I spoke to in the waiting area and others who had been to this "clinic" before all reported similar wait times and results. Even the other people just waiting in line at the regular pharmacy were probably on average in line 15-20 minutes. Take the extra time to visit a real doctors office, as the "Minute Clinic" will NOT save you any time and will probably not be very beneficial anyways. read more

When pharmacists get sidetracked during the process of getting a prescription transferred there from one of their own stores, and I have to make 3 phone calls to finally get it filled there I really wonder about their competency. I know that the person I talked to all those times just totally forgot to call the other store. This will be one pharmacy where I will stand at the counter and count my morphine tablets right in front of them to make sure they don't short me on them if they fill that there. I've been coming to this pharmacy for my family for 20 years. Never have I had such horrible customer service as I did today from pharmacist Nidhi Nivarthi. After my 11 year old son's oral surgery and after speaking with the doctor personally, she would still not fill his perscription. I then had to go back to the doctor to get a different perscription. At my second pharmacy visit, she still would not move his prescription up to be filled even though he had been out of surgery for 5 hours and was in complete pain with 25 stitches in his gums. She just didn't care. She might be new here, but she had a lot to learn about bedside manner and customer service... and it may be time for my family and friends to take our business somewhere else. I just moved "all the way" from Ocean Beach & so far haven't had a problem at this pharmacy. In fact, everyone has been friendly & helpful, in addition to the rest of the staff in the store. Today I felt so badly as one of the staff (Jessica G) was on hold with the CVS Specialty Pharmacy trying to find out where my medication was. As she was on hold, I stepped aside & she continued to acknowledge other staff & help people as well. After about 30 minutes of being on hold we found out my medication was never sent because it wasn't cleared by the insurance company. (I was told it would be sent out last Friday). I'm new on this med and I realize stuff happens.... So I just wanted to say Thank You Jessica G for multitasking & taking care of a frustrating situation with professionalism and patience! read more

I don't know what the deal is with this pharmacy. I dropped off my prescription yesterday. I came to pick it up and they have no clue where it is. Then they look it up and they say the date says it needs to be filled today and it will be at least an hour. Well the pharmacy has been open for an hour and a half. I had to wait in line to pick up the prescription. I had to stand back in line to see what happened to the prescription and now I have to wait another hour for it to get filled. Why do I use this pharmacy. Terrible! read more

I switched from Walgreens to CVS a few years ago, against my will (long story). I wish I had gone back to Walgreens as soon as the one on Balboa and Genesee opened, but I did not. I seem to have a problem pretty much every time I would come here. Some examples: *I tried the generic form of my RX a couple years ago, due to monetary reasons, and was sick the entire month, so my doctor wrote an RX for brand name only. In fact, my file at CVS says "no generic, no substitutions." After I had been using this CVS for several months I came in to get my RX. I open it up and they have given me the generic. Not only did they not bother to read my file, they did not ask. I then have to wait an extra 15-20 minutes to get what should have already been ready. *I go to pick up my RX and try to hand my CVS card to the pharmacy tech who is ringing me up. He rings up the purchase and then tells me it's too late to use my CVS card because he already rang it up. He then asks me if I want him to void it and start all over so I can use my CVS card, which btw you cannot even use your points for prescriptions. *The last straw was last month they had run out of my RX and whoever called to let me know told me I would have to call around and find out who had it in stock and let them know and they will transfer it for me. Seriously?? I am officially back with Walgreens now! read more

What's worse than being incompetent? Being lazy and dishonest. The pharmacist at this CVS told me that my doctor's office asked them to fill a prescription with a substitute med that I am allergic to. This, AFTER I'd just been to the doctor's office to ask them to do a prior authorization to fill my RX the way it was written, as I was allergic to all other forms of the drug, which is why I needed it in the first place. When I told the pharmacist this, she did nothing, telling me repeatedly - with loads of attitude and constant interruptions - that the doctor's office didn't want it filled. Now, I know this is horseshit because I've already talked to the doctor. All she had to do was try to run it again and see that it would now go through. I proceeded to ask for dates of when these supposed phone calls took place, none of which added up to anything congruent to the timeline of when I dropped of my prescriptions, saw my doc, or when my doc got the prior auth taken care of. I tried to point this out to her, but she refused to run the prescription again. My doctors office was so mad when it told them what this pharmacy said...trying to fill my prescription with something I was allergic to, and blame it on them. Unacceptable, really. On top of all this, I told them from the get go that I would need a prior authorization, asked them if they would call my doctor, and they said yes. They also said I'd get text messages when my scrips were ready. I got zero texts, then a grumpy, nasty phone call on a Sunday morning on my home land line, asking if I could "be bothered" to come pick up my prescriptions. I attempted three times to talk to the manager, only to get batted around by rude employees who didn't seem to care about how poorly they'd handled my prescriptions. This pharmacy exemplifies the worst customer service anyone could possibly hope for. It's like twilight zone bad. These people have an important job to do, and no appreciation for that fact. read more

On 7/12/19 Manager would not return hair product with receipt. when I asked why, he said because it was his policy. When I asked about "cvs" policy his face turned red and he was rude! Telling me I could read the policy. I asked for his managers number he told me no and that I could call the 800 #. The product I purchased was from a different location and was not sold at the Clairemont square location. Jose told me even with my receipt he didn't have to return the product, Jose told me he would not get credit for the inventory. I will be moving all our family pharmacy products and will not be shopping at this location anymore. It's unfortunate when so many people are in need of jobs that his man gets to abuse customers at his will. It was like he was trying to intimate me with his red face and angry behavior all over a $20 hair product. If you can go somewhere else I recommend it!!! I have experienced rudeness in the store before and I have witnessed people who work there being rude with other customers. Shame on this store!!! The district manager phoned me today 7/15/19 and apologized for the issue. He said he had a conversation with the store manager and I was "okay" to return the product. Rating just the photo department ! I am bummed they are no longer open 24 hours :( This was my 2nd to 3rd try with this store. Love the convenience of it. I usually make last minute books and picture collages for teacher gifts and coaches online and they have express books there. It's the same guy that puts the pages inbackwards- Rob Robinson- the older gentleman with the Elvis hairdo. Despite my phonecall to avoid this problem, the book was backwards again, really??? This time another manager caught the problem and showed him how to fix. The same day I made another photo collage and went back to pick it up. The computer read error and it never sent. So I had to do the whole thing over from my iPhone. As I am frantically getting thru the screens it was 6:53pm and they close photo at 7pm. He guy turns the machines off! He sees that I have been there working on this collage! I am now raising my voice and he says," are you going to pay for my overtime??" finally a lady brings another manager out to fix the problem. by the way, the gifts were for teachers and the last day of school is the next day Lesson learned- their photo products are awesome gifts but DO NOT go to Clairemont Square! Well im just rating the photo department. I went in today looking for passport photos to be taken. The gentlemen helped me out. I think his name was Robert. He asked me where I was traveling too, and I said I was in the Navy and they might be sending me out of the country. Didnt ask much after. He developed the photos and handed them to me and said they were free to servicemembers. I said thanks and walked away. Felt good that some people still appreciate our service :) read more

I love this old peoples place. They sometimes have really good sales on drinks (like arizona teas and energy drinks) and the 24 cases of water. Everytime my mom goes there she returns with like 8 24 packs of water bottles, 20 cans of arizona tea and etc... she's old so she loves it there. I used the coinstar thingy today, and besides the jewish 9.8% rate they steal from you, the machine was efficient and accurate and the lady at the front desk who cashed in for me was really nice. Watched her go from employee to customer delivering her unnecessarily pathetic excuse for sarcasm. She needs to keep her poor attitude in check. Ugh. So usually I go to the CVS on balboa and genessee but this one was closer to my house. The head pharmacist was at the drop off window. She actally suggested that I might just want to pay the "20 bucks" since she was going to have to call my insurance since the rx data wasn't listed on my card. She straightened it out in a couple minutes but I felt offended that a very young woman who makes six figures would suggest that a likely less fortunate customer would pay even a penny more than necessary to save her a breif inconvenience. Lol....a a computer programmer I am a little unclear about what a pharmacist does that a well programmed vendong machine could not, so maybe I am the unreasonable one.
