Quite possibly the worse pharmacy in the harbor/peninsula area. They made a mistake in filling my daughters prescription and after talking to their rude and condescending pharmacy tech, she actually hung up on me! Read that again: she hung up on a customer (I was being polite under the circumstances and she hung up after I asked her name). I will be moving my family's prescriptions elsewhere. I am sure it won't matter to the ill mannered young girl I spoke to, or to the CVS corporation at large, but it's the principle of the matter. Horrible customer service, an incompetent staff and unapologetic rudeness. Take your business elsewhere. Being sick is bad enough without having to deal with this type of behavior. Horrible just horrible .... they have gone way down hill ever since Ralph retired ... had a family member pick up a Prescription for me since my two little girls are sick... It's a liquid prescription which they need to add water to to get the correct water to med Combination... Do not use the CVS pharmacy on Western in San Pedro!! I just moved to the area from Redondo Beach. I had previously had my prescriptions filled automatically at Ralph's. I still had several refills on the medications, and when I went to inquire about it they said they needed a Dr's release because they were concerned about the dosage. I have been getting this refilled regularly for 11 years with no issue. Furthermore there effort to get in touch with my Dr has been to leave one electronic message and not follow up. Now I am having to call my Dr every hour like a crazy person because I have been out of the medication for 2 days. I dropped these scripts off with CVS 2 weeks ago. If there was an issue it should have been handled long before this. Now that I am out this is something that should be taken care of in a couple of hours. The pharmacist on the phone acted more bothered than anything else. I am going to have them send it back to Ralph's in Redondo Beach, even though it is 10 miles away. Very frustrating!! read more

This CVS is the worse. Self check out is always broken and the managers doesn't care at all about long lines at check out. They would stand and chat with a customer in line and finally get on an empty cash register when he felt like it. read more

I've been shopping here for 30+ years - back to the old SavOn days. Ever since CVS took over, this busy store and pharmacy seems to employ unhappy, disgruntled folks who don't care about customer service. They'll help, IF you ask, but with an attitude. One old gal actually rolls her eyes when you make a request for a little assistance. And, they scrutinize your coupons like your trying to pass counterfeit bills! There are some exceptions - more recent hires like Cindy and the gentlemen that work the registers. I finally tried another CVS store and, guess what? They apparently value my business enough to be pleasant and helpful. And the pharmacy line is never as bad as the Western Ave. store. read more

The CVS on Western in San Pedro is where I get my vitamins, medicine, essentials, etc. Located on Western it's accessible to most San Pedro and even Torrance or PV residents. Prices and selection are excellent, I wait for my vitamins to go on sale and then score a bunch at one time. Vitamins are getting more and more expensive as people realize how important they are (there's very little or no nutrition left in our modern food sources, everyone should be supplementing their diet with vitamins), and CVS will run decent specials such as BOGOs or use their coupons. My one complaint, pharmacy staff is very friendly BUT has shorted me pills before and luckily I caught it at the counter when picking up and made them correct the amount. ALWAYS COUNT YOUR PILLS PEOPLE! Who cares if you look weird or appear to be holding the line up. You're actually not holding up the line, the pharmacy is. By not giving you the correct amount prescribed they are causing the delay in the transaction. They were very nice about fixing it but nobody wants to go back and argue with the pharmacy once they've gotten home so make them dump each bottle into their little counting machine and you may be surprised to find they shorting you bruh! And also, they have cinnamon bears, one of my favorite candies so there is that.... read more

Terrible Management. I frequent CVS locations without incident but each time at the Western location is so frustrating. Why are they consistently understaffed? 1 or so open registers is not enough customer service for a line of 10+ customers with a handful of items. I have dumped my goods and left the store more than once. This store could be great if not for this issue. I only go here if I absolutely have to. read more

Worst pharmacy. I forgot I had promised myself I'd never fill my prescriptions here again (huge mistake). Slowest service and they misquote how long it will take my prescription to be filled constantly. Once they told me 20 min so I stayed in the store, an hour and a half later I was fuming. Always slow and complicated for prescriptions I've been getting the same for years. Need to remember to go to a different one!! UPDATE: This is the SECOND time they've been totally unprofessional about my medication. The first time, I was asking for a brand called Femcon. The pharmacist goes to look and yells to me across the pharmacy "IS THAT THE BIRTH CONTROL??".... Um yes but thanks for announcing it to everyone. Second time. I was getting my anxiety/depression medication when I overheard two pharmacists in the back joking with each other "That's the Lexapro right?" "Yeah, hey you need that! If you actually want to get your prescription refill that you called in, then DO NOT COME HERE. I called in my prescription refill, they faxed authorization request to my Dr. The fax didn't go through but nobody here ever bothered to re-fax it, or call the Dr. or myself to follow up. I wonder if CVS corporate or even this store's manager ever read how terrible the local citizenry thinks the service is at their pharmacy. The miserable, unhelpful and rude behavior of the techs, cashiers and the pharmacists never ceases to amaze me. How do you spend so many years in college only to graduate and absolutely hate your job and your customers at CVS? Get another job! I always say hello to the cashiers and call them by their name if I know it. (They don't wear name tags). I also always say "thank you" and I'm always met with a look of complete disdain and boredom and not a single one has ever thanked me, which is supposed to be a common response in a retail setting. Saturday I called to make sure that my prescription was ready before I drove over. The phone rang and went unanswered for 19 minutes. (I timed it). I finally hung up. I called back again an hour later and this time it rang for 23 minutes. I thought to myself, this can't be right. Are the employees there really listening to their phones ring over and over for hours without answering? So I went to the pharmacy myself and what I saw I should've been filmed for every CVS manager to see. There was only one person in line ahead of me, so they weren't busy. There were two cashiers, one pharmacy tech and the black female pharmacist all behind the counter. As I stood in line, I could hear a recording playing over the speakers behind the counter "there are 3 calls holding for the pharmacy". That recording kept playing over and over and over again while I waited in line. The cashier was busy with a customer, but the lazy pharmacist, who was counting pills, totally ignored the ringing phones, as did the tech, who was just opening boxes. I was in line about eight minutes and none of four employees ever answered the phone. I asked the cashier why the pharmacist doesn't answer the phone. She looked behind her then whispered to me " she doesn't ever answer the phone. She says its not her job." Impressive work ethic, right? And believe me, the two cashiers and pharmacy tech weren't answering the phone either when they had the chance. Laziness and apathy and ineptitude prevail at this CVS pharmacy. If you live in San Pedro and want consistently superior service, go to Peninsula Pharmacy on 6th Street. (See my review for that store). read more

If you like rude customer service this is the CVS pharmacy for you. I can't speak directly on the Store itself because I haven't had much of a valid experience but I am particularly referencing the pharmacy staff. They are extremely rude and incompetent 90% of the time. They consistently screw up prescription refills and every time I've had to resort to that store the experience is terrible . The staff is rude and inconsiderate. It's frustrating when every time you place a prescription order they try to alter what the doctor has prescribed to you without even the consideration of asking your preference. For example the doctor orders you pads for medication and they give you the Cream , or they just replace it with generic. I get it... many times they try to force generic on you, probably based on some Ulterior motive but they need to be strategic enough to ask the customer what they want not just replace it without their knowledge. The attitude!! Come on, if you hate your job then find something you love. The world is filled with so much turmoil , the last thing we need is CVS pharmacy staff adding to the negativity. For me it feels like they forget we are real people. I highly recommend that someone at the corporate level CVS evaluates this store and does some major changes. 3 times in a row for the same prescription. 1. I phoned my doctor and was told my renewal is approved and sent to the CVS Pharmacy on Western in San Pedro, 2. I receive a text message from CVS saying my prescription is ready, 3. I arrive and pharmacist tells me the doctor never approved. This happened 3 times for a basic ointment for dry skin. I like this local pharmacy. The people that work there are really nice and professional and know what they're doing. The only because I want some antibiotics and they were out of what I needed. How can a pharmacy be out of antibiotics? It makes me want to go to the CVS on Gaffey Street in the target. But this location is just more convenient for me so I continue to go. The first thing they required me to do was to drive all the way back to my Dr's office to DATE THE PRESCRIPTION, the could not call the office, nor could I date the Rx! So after driving back to his office, in the rain, they tell me THEY DON'T CARRY THE DRUG. They took anpther Rx from me, telling me it would be ready on 1/5/15. I've never experienced such bad customer service. My other local CVS called and faxed in my prescription. I was told it would be ready in one hour. I went to pick it up 3 hours later to give them more time and they didn't have my prescription order or medicine ready. These people are incompetent. I will never go back to again. I was shocked at the staff. As I shop for a facial soap I was watched by an employee the entire time. I walked up to purchase the product and noticed one register open out of six. Having to wait to check out for such a long period of time I felt instead watching customers shopping get on register. After 12-15 mins I just place product on shelf and left. Great sales if you have a CVS card, takes a few moments so its worth the time... the pharmacy is timely on getting the meds out and there are various items ranging in the store. I think it's pretty useful to pick up meds, snacks, and alcohol all under one roof. A little one stop shop is always good. read more

fraud committed at cvs pharmacy. cvs pharmacy advertised that they had Heineken on sale for $8.99 and i bought two 12 packs and they rang them up at $13.99 plus tax and crv. i then was told to mail in a rebate form which the cashier gave me and it came back as address undeliverable. i have spent endless hours talking with cvs customer service and the manager of the cvs where i made my purchase and they were not willing to assist. I went to the cvs at 950 Western Ave San Pedro , Ca 90731. The manager was rude and told me that i had to take my concerns to Heineken, the manufacturer. I told him that cvs benefits by allowing a company to have their product sold at a certain price and that cvs cannot benefit from false advertising. Again, another one of those times where you wish you could give zero stars. This place is truly awful and I don't understand how they are still in business. The parking lot is a nightmare, the clientele is awful, and customer service at the store (including the manager) is completely subpar. I placed an order through the CVS website to have one picture printed out so that I could pick it up for Mother's Day. The order said it would be ready by 10 AM. When I arrived at the store, I had to wait in the regular checkout line for five minutes before I could ask someone for my photo. It was then they said that they never got an order, and wouldn't even try to look up my order or help me in any way. The manager shrugged me off and said they were busy because of Mother's Day and they were having problems with the photos. That was her explanation. Not even an apology for the inconvenience and the time that I had wasted. I would avoid this disaster of an establishment at all costs and just drive down to Target for anything you need. read more

I had my granddaughters antibiotics filled on a friday.The prescription was for 10 days for strep throat. The gave me a bottle and a couple syringe type to give her her antibiotics with . I start the meds but realize there isn't enough to even last until Monday. I return to CVS and speak to the same pharmacist. He takes the first bottle and gives me a new one same size. I leave and get home and open bottle and the bottle is not even full. It lasted until that Friday and I need it until Mon to complete the full 10 days. I now need to get even more. I have never experience such incompetency. I no longer trust this pharmacist/pharmacy. read more
