when you pull into the parking lot at 10 pm you will be greeted with a picturesque sight of a few homeless people wandering around. As you are about to walk in, you realize there is no shopping cart station. So you assume you will find one inside, Good luck!! , they have maybe 5 shopping carts at this location. If you find one, celebrate you are the lucky winner. you look at the register and there is that guy with long hair pulled working hard or at least pretending to with a line of 10 people waiting. you wonder why the other 5 registers are closed. As you take stroll to the back of store you pass by the Flu medication Isle, most of the meds are gone. pharmacy section is the icing on the case. The phone keeps ringing but the technician seems to be too busy to pick up. you wait 15 minutes just to hand in your prescription and another 2 hours to pick it up if you are lucky. you keep wondering why they are still in business. read more

If I could leave zero or negative stars I would. After messing up my Rx two times (wrong labels put on my meds, refilling the wrong meds at the wrong time) only to be put on hold multiple times for over an hour, I don't know how much worse you can get. I couldn't imagine if I was elderly or with poor vision. Luckily I am otherwise healthy and of sound mind because they could seriously kill somebody. As a health care professional I am shocked (hard to do after over 10 years working in hospitals ). If I thought there was a route of complaining that would actually effect change in such a huge organizational mess I would be writing more formally elsewhere. To all other potential CVS Tarzana customers I urge you and your loved ones to go elsewhere, always double check your meds and remember, you are your best health care advocate. I am appalled at mine and my husbands most recent experience at CVS pharmacy in Tarzana California. I love this location ,I have been going since the day it opened as I live close by ,I always get wonderful deals and cashback incentives I completely abandoned all other pharmacy competitors for this reason. However on Saturday evening my husband had a prescription filled at the CVS pharmacy and when he got home and was about to take the medication and go to bed he realized his doctor had told him that he would be be taking 5 pills for 5 days... My husband noticed there were 25 pills in the bottle, that made him take a second look at what he had actually been given . so right before he swallowed the medication he started to analyze the bottle and he realized he had been given someone else's medication with someone else's name and address on it and when we googled what the medication was for we found out it was for heart failure and my husband was supposed to be taking medication for bronchitis. Generally when you get a prescription filled at CVS pharmacy the pharmacist will briefly go over the medication with you, this did not happen on Saturday night when my husband picked up his prescription. He was rushed through and given his prescription in a stapled shut bag and being that he was exhausted and sick he never would've taken the time to analyze if it was the correct medication because he trusts CVS pharmacy to do their job properly, it was only because there were too many pills in the bottle that he did a second take otherwise he would've been taken potentially life threatening medication for the next week! When my husband called CVS to tell them of their mistake he was met with rudeness ,aggressive attitude and not so much as a sorry but just told him he needed to return the wrong medication immediately as if it was somehow his fault they gave him potentially life-threatening medication that was not prescribed to him. Upon returning to CVS to get his actual medication that he should've received in the first place he was told he had to wait in a long line (even though they were expecting his return) to collect his actual medication. The whole thing was just a negligent disaster. We will never be using CVS pharmacy Tarzana again. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I wanted to refill my medicine and wasn't sure when the next refill was so I went to go ask. I stranded in front of the drop off area where the lady was at and she didn't even acknowledge I was there until a while had passed. Then she said "do you have a question" but without even looking at me as if I'm not even a person so of course I didn't answer until she asked me a second time and finally looked at me like a human being should when they are speaking to someone else. I then answered and said yes I wanted to see when I could refill my medication. She asked question and when she found the day I could refill she said to me " does it looks like it's (she said the date) and I said "no? That's why I'm asking when the refill is" and she said "well it's not today it's -." And I said "ok well I'll just wanted to know the day" and she said "unless you're gonna pay for it now but the insurance won't cover you" and she said it in such a rude and nasty way that I just left because NO ONE should be talked to that way especially customers. I've worked with customers and in retail before so I know customers can be annoying and not always right but this lady had no right to talk to me that way and tone. I wish I got her name but BEWARE OF THE BIG BONED LADY AT THE PHARMACY BECAUSE SHE WILL BE RUDE. I honestly don't even want to go back and I will be changing to another pharmacy. I tried to fill my Rx at Tarzana CVS and the heavier woman with red hair at the drop off window told me that it could not be filled because my insurance says "brand name ONLY" and they only have generic in stock. Huh? That's absurd, it probably says "brand name APPROVED", I have picked up both generic and brand name with this insurance. And I don't care which they give me. She was so rude, and by the way WRONG, she sent me away and told me to argue with my insurance company. I call my insurance company who obvs says "that's ridiculous, generic is preferred" (duh, it's cheaper). I call the prescribing physician and he says he called it in "generic ok." Heavy Set Red Haired Rude Lady - let me explain something to you: insurance doesn't name things "brand name ONLY." Brand name is more expensive. No one, especially insurance companies like to pay more money. That should have raised a red flag to any breathing American who has ever had to deal with an insurance company which you do ALL DAY. You should have looked deeper into this as it doesn't sound right to anyone, and you definitely should not have been rude to me, standing there with my 8 year old in the middle of a COVID epidemic at a PHARMACY creating a return visit to a PHARMACY once you have been proven WRONG. This is a review of the CVS Pharmacy that is located at the intersection of Reseda and Ventura Blvd. Although my overall rating for this place is between 1 & 2 I would like to rate one staff member Mohammad, 5+ (if there was a rating like that). I have been there a couple of times and one can clearly observe a chaotic environment. Just about everyone is rude with the exception of Mohammad. He is simply OUTSTANDING. Despite the chaotic situation he's always smiling and helping out / taking care of customers extremely well. Hard to believe such an individual is able to maintain his cool and work in that environment. He deserves to be the Manager of the Pharmacy in my opinion. read more

I HATE, HATE, HATE this pharmacy! Every single time I've gone here, no matter what time of day it is- morning, early afternoon, afternoon, early evening, evening- well you get the idea- I have had to WAIT IN LINE FOR AT LEAST 15-20 MINUTES!!!! I swear, whether I'm the 2nd person in line or the 8th, it takes forever here. The staff is rude, unfriendly, and always seem to be irritated. They never text me even though they swear the text option for me is in their system. They never auto refill when they say they do. I call and re-order my prescriptions and whoop- they magically don't get refilled. The staff is nasty when I tell them that I want them to transfer my prescription to a different CVS because I refuse to wait in line AGAIN after I already did and they messed up. They have screwed up on my prescription numerous times and I have been passed around on the phone in circles and no one can help. I hate everything about this CVS. I refuse to go to CVS anymore..the only reason I gave it more chances was for the 24 hour option if I need a prescription that night and couldn't make it before the pharmacy closes. Other than that, I use a new pharmacy; a NON-CVS pharmacy. read more

I usually use this pharmacy because it's nearby. I usually have my prescriptions E-prescribed so it's not a big deal for them to let me know when it's ready. However, today I had paper prescriptions for my toddler with ear infections. Amoxicillin - A very common and widely prescribed Rx. Once I made it through the line, i was told it would be a half hour wait. So I decided to wait there (with a sick and cranky, yet energetic, toddler. 40 min later I haven't heard anything, so I wait in line and they said it's not ready. They will expedite it and have it in 10 min. 20 min later I go up again. Waiting in a line every time and trying to contain my 2 year old. And I'm told the same thing again. I complained to a store supervisor who did what everyone else did - an unemotional, unproductive "sorry." Not a flinch to help or inquire what's taking so long. Almost two hours after initially getting there, I go home and THEN get the text that they have the Rx ready. I could have just taken my toddler home to rest for those 2 hours. And the lack of sympathy/care/effort from multiple people was enough to make me decide to never use that pharmacy again for any of my family members. I'd rather travel farther to another pharmacy than to deal with that CVS. read more

First of all I wish I didn't have to give them any stars. This is the worst experience I ever had with anything! I was already at the ER for an hour and a half, and the pharmacists told me it was going to be an hour and half for the prescription. There were only two pharmacists when I went to go pick it up after the hour and a half. One of the girls left!! The manager got paged six times and nowhere to be found. Someone else in line found Fred, the manger, stacking boxes! What a lousy manager! He should be fired immediately. Once he did finally help us after waiting for 45 minutes he didn't apologize for the crap service! He had the nerve to ask me if I've been helped! Fred acted as if everyone wasn't ready to scream at him. After getting the prescription the people in line applauded us. This store is seriously a joke! I would drive somewhere absurd just so I won't have to deal with them ever again. read more

Some of the bad reviews on here surprise me. It is true that the pharmacy gets super crowded and that this plaza is pretty nasty, but the pharmacy itself is ok. The whole plaza this CVS is located in has gone down the drain in recent years and has become pretty nasty. However, the pharmacy is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. It does get super busy and there are long lines and a lot of impossible customers, but the staff do their best. I have never had a problem with them. read more

I always end up kicking myself for ending up here. But it's close by, 24 hours, and I can shop at Vons while I wait if it's not too late. It's not my regular pharmacy so I only go in a pinch. Always huge lines as they are so understaffed. I mean geez they are across from a damn hospital, and several medical offices, not to mention so many urgent care offices nearby. You would think they would staff it better. Also their system for processing prescriptions is so outdated and bureaucracy ridden. Maintaining your cool as they try to type a novel into their 1980s computers is hard to do. Then they must scan their badge every few minutes. I realize it's not the fault of the employees and greedy corporate is to blame so I manage to try and stay chill which is hard when you are very ill. Though it's not great during the day def don't go there late at night. They often have two people trying to do the job of three. One checks out while a pharmacist must stop what she is doing to enter and receive new scripts then goes back to filling. As you could imagine it's hard for them to be very nice given their situation! Most scripts take 30 minutes or more to fill and that's not counting your waiting in line to drop off and pickup. So allow yourself an hour at least. What !?! Sickpeeps ain't got no time for that. Sadly I've been unimpressed with most CVS locations so I shouldn't be surprised however this one is the worst I've ever been too. I need to check hours at nearby Walgreen's because I don't always go too late at night. read more

Go anywhere else. My story: I went in to pick up my prescription this CVS had been calling me about. I was told that another CVS down the street had the prescription and I had to go there to pick it up (this was incorrect, I saw on the bottle when I got home that it had been filled here.) But I did go to the other location the next day anyhow. When I got to the other location (Chase and Reseda) they told me that it was actually already filled at this location and they would call to get it transferred. The next day I returned to Chase and Reseda location, only to be told they were unable to get it transferred because this location did not pick up their phone after 30 min. The pharmacist said she would try again. I tried too. After 20 min neither of us could get through. I drove over to this location, not too happy, but I was completely out of my meds at this point. My 4th trip in 3 days to attempt to get my prescription. Fun. When I got there, there was another woman who had an issue as well. My phone was still on hold. They didn't even acknowledge our concerns. How in the world do you leave a patient on the phone for over 30 min? How? No customer service what so ever, I'm not even mad at them though, it's CVS and the pharmacy manager Choi, who fails to staff appropriately. You are a busy pharmacy, you need to staff appropriately to accommodate the customers. But they are so short they are unable to even answer a phone. Unacceptable. Luckily, I doubt they will be busy for long with this level of service. I'm done with CVS Pharmacy. Bye. read more

Love this CVS. I've been to plenty in the area and have had lots of problems with several other CVS locations. Tonight I was at another location and they wouldn't take one of my coupons and ALSO wouldn't take a 20% CVS pass that was in Sunday's paper. I told them I'll take my business to the Tarzana location where they never give me grief. I went to the Tarzana CVS where they took my coupons no problem and I was on my way. Horrible experience with the night crew! There were only two customers including myself. My prescription was for Motrin. My doctor told me I could buy it over the counter and simply double up on the dosage. I decided to simply fill the prescription. This pharmacist (Asian ... Do not know his name) told me it would take 5 to 15 minutes. While waiting, two more customers arrived. Instead of taking care of the customers, he continued typing. 40 minutes went by, and again he told me 5 minutes more! While all this was going on, the person who actually fills the prescriptions was busy sorting packages in the background. I asked the pharmacist to cancel my order as I prefer to buy the Motrin over the counter. This guy was more concerned with typing than servicing the growing line of customers. Pity us who needs a pharmacist after hours. I will stay away from this inconsiderate pharmacist who has his priorities backwards! read more

Worst pharmacy ever! My doctor faxed a prescription and they never got it! This happened twice on two different occasions. Every time I tried to call to confirm my prescription they put me on hold for 20 minutes. After waiting on hold for 20 minutes they then hung up on me. I have never had a difficult time filling prescriptions before this. I had to call my doctor after hours so she could resend and verbally call in my prescription. Do not use this pharmacy customer service is terrible and it will take hours to try to figure out how to get you prescriptions filled!!!! read more

Consistently The worst service ever. Bad attitude. Higher prices and unnecessary delays.

The absolute worst pharmacy of all time. I would get at least 2-3 calls a day stating that my prescription is ready for pick up and once I get there..MY PRESCRIPTION IS NOT READY AND NO WHERE TO BE FOUND IN THEIR SYSTEM. This has not happened once or twice..it has happened on several occasions in the last few months. What aggravates me the most is I would have to wait in a 30 minute line because they can only seem to have one person who can work the pick up cashier while they have 5-6 pharmacy techs in the back standing around. There was once an issue with my prescription and I was advised to speak to the drop off counter and the girl working the counter was the most rude and useless employee who did not even try to help me. I asked her to call my doctor to get it straightened out but she stated that they are backed up and that it's something I would need to do and then come back and let her know the outcome. This place really needs to train their employees on customer service. I only go to CVS due to the fact that it's the closest pharmacy to where I live but I would rather go out of my way to a different pharmacy who would actually help their customers. read more

I have generously given this 24 hr CVS pharmacy 2 stars instead of 0 because of the staff-pharmacists & cashiers that always seem very busy trying to meet high demands when they are clearly very understaffed. Much of their time seems to be spent looking for the prescriptions that have been filled and calling insurance companies and doctors' offices. The computer says the prescriptions are ready, so she rummages through the alphabetical bins first. It took 7 hours and 4 phone calls with an average wait time of 24 minutes before picking up 2 prescriptions that were electronically submitted in the afternoon. They were located in another bin, the 4th place she looked. I was disappointed that the text message I had signed up to receive when the prescriptions were ready did not come through. I pointed it out to the cashier, even showing her my phone with the text signup;she just shrugged her shoulders. I was too tired to respond with anything other than a nod. I was just relieved that I finally had the prescriptions. And I did not have to wait in the drop off line! read more

Avoid CVS at all cost. My husband had a serious illness, and it was a federal case filling each and every prescription. They questioned me ad nauseum. They always have long lines and are very disorganized. If you have a loved one with a serious illness do him or her a favor and go to another pharmacy that actually cares about its customers, not interrogates their customers.This company is only concerned about covering their tails.
