I called, and the first thing said to me was "well what do you want me to do about it?" Sir, I want you to replace the glass. "Well it's going to cost you, we don't do that free." Yes, I am well aware of that you rude imbecile. Who taught you social manners? Anyone?! Then he tells me they don't do repairs. Fine. I hung up. Obviously you don't want my business, so you don't get it. A$$hole. I would be highly suspicious of all the 5 star reviews that have no pictures, no friends, and very few reviews. Fake news.

I own a vacation property in Sunland, last winter in the middle of my trip I was getting ready to…read morehave guests come over the next day when my basement bathroom started leaking water from the toilet pipe... it started to get worse and I was panicking! I asked one of the neighbors if they recommended anyone, and they gave me Ed's number as he has fixed issues with their home before. I called him frantically and explained the situation.... he said he would come right over, and within about 20 minutes he did! He inspected the bathroom piping and noticed some of it had rusted. It seems a combination of cheap piping from the previous installer and the fact that we are not home year round to use it may have caused the problems. He told me me what needed to be done, replace some of the exposed piping, and cut into the wall to replace some of it in the back to ensure nothing up and down in the chain of pipes goes wrong. We agreed on a price and he proceeded to get the necessary equipment.. He carefully took off my wall tiles, cut into the sheet rock, changed whatever needed to be changed, replaced the sheet rock and wall tiles all by that evening! We left the windows open that evening to air out the bathroom, and when we woke up the next morning everything was as good as new! I was able to put on my dinner party and no one had a clue what had transpired the day before! moving forward as a precaution I have my neighbor come by every week just to turn some of the faucets on and off, and flush accordingly... Ed really helped out when I was in a bind and I thank him for it! It has been about a year already and thankfully there have been no further issues! I highly recommend his company!

We picked Ed from the Red Beacon site, but because he didn't want to book through them, I can't…read morereview him on their site. We wanted old tile removed and new tile installed up to the ceiling in our tub/shower. We also had him install new linoleum we bought on the floor of the bathroom. And finally, we asked him to install a new shower door that we purchased in Pasadena. We also talked with him about several other projects we had in mind if we ended up liking the work he did on this one. So by covering up his mistakes he has lost our business forever. So admittedly- our plumbing is 60 years old. Yes, I was stupid not to insist everything be spelled out in the contract. And yes, I was stupid to go along with his suggestion that it would be less expensive if we did not contract through Red Beacon. So I learned some lessons about hiring contractors. In 20 years of home ownership we have never had an issue with any of the other people who have done work on our house- new windows, new roof, new flooring, painting, etc., so we got a little lazy on the contract end. Here are our issues with Ed: 1. He said he was going to install new concrete backer board, but then did not and did not refund any part of the price we paid. 2. We had the tub refinished by another vendor. He came back about 28 hours after that was complete. He left a bunch of tiny bits of metal shavings that embedded into the new finish. We had to pick them out 1 by 1. 3. We had a new shower head for him to install. It kept spraying up to the ceiling. Each time we took a shower we had to adjust it so it sprayed down. When we finally took it off- there was NO plumbers tape! He calls himself a plumber but he didn't bother with plumbing tape! We put the plumbers tape on, reinstalled the shower head and magic- no spraying the ceiling any more. 4. I noticed the shower faucet handles are loose. I get a screwdriver and tighten them. Then we cannot turn the water off because it doesn't allow the valve to close all the way. This meant- that because he didn't install the concrete backer board, the distance from the faucet handle to the wall had changed and he trimmed the pipe too short! We had to shorten the screws to allow the screws that attach the handles to the be attached to the valve stem and not be loose all the time. And he is a licensed plumber. 5. He sealed the shower and shower door with a paintable sealant- not meant for as much water as a shower sees. It started leaking within a week. Just a bit at first, but over the next three months it turned into a river. We asked the shower door guy to come and reinstall it because we are never letting Ed near our house again. 6. He told us, as he was leaving that our plumbing was "very delicate". After a few weeks I notice that it's leaking under the bathroom sink. I think it's just from getting everything reconnected after the job was done. It ruined a brand new Shaver set, along with a lot of bathroom supplies that ended up wet or moldy. A few months later I notice things are damp again. I shrug my shoulders and toss the stuff. The in the last few weeks I notice it's still wet so we assume it is the on/off valve under the sink and we get a new one. When we go to install we realize the sink plumbing is attached to the pipe in the wall by shrink tubing. He broke off the threaded part of the pipe coming out of the wall and the way he fixed it was by jamming it all together and covering it with shrink tubing. Is that what licensed plumbers do to fix a problem? Why didn't he just come clean and tell us what the problem was? I know he would have been responsible for part of it but what the heck? We have many jobs he could have done for us over the years but we will never call him again. If he screws something up, he hides it instead of explaining the problem to you. There were so many weird things he did as a "licensed plumber" it feels like we are in a third world country and you invent ways to fix problems because you can't get what you need. We won't be calling him- as a matter of fact we won't let him near our property to fix anything or to do another job again.
