One of the most popular if not the most known brewery in Saint Pete and one of the most ubiquitous breweries to the beer geek community throughout the US. The service and the vibe is really chill at this spot. It's also located in an area where you can find delicious food all around. I just received word that this location is closing down pretty soon which makes me really sad. I've always loved their beers because they focus on the barrel aged stouts, which are my favorite style! Every time I visited this location there seemed to be lots of them on tap. I personally also have very fine memories of this place because my buddy brought me here during my first visit to Tampa Bay beer week. It was also my first experience at Cycle's BA Day, which is just a crazy beer fest with high ABV barrel aged beers and takes place really close by at the Shuffleboard Club. After that festival, people come back to this location to open even more beers and have lots of more fun. Great, dog-friendly brewery specializing in big beers. As a lover of barleywine this was a must-hit when visiting St. Pete. They have a few outdoor tables and the inside is a bit cramped but it's a nice space with a decent sized bar. The beer-tender was fantastic and really helpful with all my questions. The beer is excellent; as I already new. They've got a list of taproom-only releases that they dig out of the cellar I was sure to grab a few of. I have been coming here for a while and I to be honest I only have eyes for one beer. I am a huge fan of the Cream and sugar please porter. I mean huge. If cream and sugar please is available at an establishment that's not a brewery this is my go to beer. So me being where they make it I'm game. My partner isn't much for porters but he was wanting to try something new. He got the barrel aged banana bread. It's was super sweet and not quite mead like but reminded me of mead. The service was great and the bartender is great. It seems like every time we go there he's working. They've got a great space both inside and out. We arrived mid afternoon on a Monday and October 2021. This came up as a brewery in the area while we were visiting the Saint Pete brewing location and was an easy two minute walk from there. While it is much smaller than others it is certainly all craft beer and sours. Again there is metered parking in the area but on a busy weekend I can imagine it would be hard to find parking. The nice thing is after 6 PM parking is free. My husband opted for the o'lmilly and I got the up cycled (raspberry sour). The beers were good but they were just not quite what we were looking for. The raspberry sour is very tart which I appreciated being that most can be over sweet. Welcome to one of the best breweries in the country. For years, these guys have been pumping out world-renowned stouts. Depending on which direction you are walking, they are either the first or last brewery on the main drag of St Pete's 12 breweries. They do have some pilsners and IPAs normally as well, but their stouts are the real show-stoppers! The decorations are bike-centric. There is seating indoors and outside. Cycle Brewing is a fantastic brewery, if you love barrel aged stouts. It's what they are known for, and it is their stand out product. So many delicious options, which includes old school favorites along with new ones, but it doesn't quite have the same refreshing factor and easy drink ability that Florida makes you crave. They do offer some lighter lagers and pilsners along with some really fantastic sours for those not into stouts. They have a few outdoor communal seating benches and a few two tops inside and a few larger tables. I would definitely make this a pit stop on your st. Pete brewery tour. read more

When we come to Tampa Bay, it's a given that my husband will be bringing me to breweries. Years ago, Cycle would be a must stop by every single Tampa Bay visit but over the years we were only seeing their common stuff on tap and no special beers so we stopped coming as much. Last week, we took our son to Tampa Bay and we were walking around downtown St Pete and our son noticed Cycle. We thought he hadn't been before so lets take him; LUCKY US because they recently had a bottle set for sale and they still had each one of the bottled beers on tap. These bottles were each named after a day of the week so of course we ordered one of every day but one was very special. Saturday was also called Scoop with Coconut. This stuff was amazing. They had bottles available but they wouldn't sell each bottle unless you bought a whole set and that was very expensive (over 200 dollars). Wish they had amazing stuff on tap all the time but I still love this place. read more

Cycle probably wouldn't be my first choice for a brewery visit personally. They're located in sunny, hot south Florida and specialize in stouts. I'm one of those people who can only really tolerate stouts if it's snowing outside. And even that's rare. Fortunately, they do offer a couple sours for folks like me, so props there. The taproom is small and on the cramped side, but they do have tables with stools and even a few with seat backs, in addition to the bar area. The line was randomly either super long or nonexistant when I visited during Tampa Bay Beer Week earlier in the month with a large group of friends. Our group stayed for a while tasting different beers. I most enjoyed their ecto-cooliner sour (the green one), but the sips of stouts I sampled were also pretty nice. I purchased a bottle of Monday to trade but haven't gotten any bites yet so I might just share it with friends. It's apparently one of their most popular week-beers, but Saturday is considered number one. That one has peanut butter in it though, so no interest from me. The bathroom situation could be improved so much, imo. As a girl, I had an advantage in waiting for the single stall, but I noticed the guy-line was pretty massive. This brewery seems to be primarily visited by burly dudes with brown hair, beards, and round bellies. I was glad to move on to the itty bitty sour brewery a couple blocks away, but I didn't mind my time here since their product quality is high. It just wouldn't get my vote for a return visit based on their current brewing focus. read more

My first stop on my brewery tour of St Petersburg, and by far, one of my favorites. You hear about certain breweries and the beers they brew. Each brewery you come across has their own character, vibe, energy, mystique; whether, anyone else agrees with you remains to be seen, but Cycle is a juggernaut. Located on Central Ave in the downtown district of St Pete within a strip of grayish-tan retail spaces, Cycle may look non-assuming from the outside where you could blink once if you were driving past and miss it. Plus, the brewery is populated with other bars and restaurants - so the nightlife is crackling with people roaming up and down the street, hanging out, and enjoying themselves to where they could get lost in the shuffle. However, as we all know -- especially, us brewheads, looks are deceiving. Inside was a funky, art-gallery-like taproom, with communal table seating and high-top tables -- some in little cubby areas, as well as an L-shaped bar where Cycle had a number of different taps to choose your first, second... third drink. My favorite spot were the little cubby areas where each one had a high-top table where you could enjoy a beer while looking at the hung artwork on the walls. Very cool stuff. All the paintings and art hung on the walls are for sale for those who see something that catches their eye, while you enjoy a beer. Additionally, being situated on Central Ave, Cycle is a great spot to people watch, whether you're sitting inside and looking out the wide-entrance opening, or perched on one of the outside bench tables. Having just settled myself at the AirBNB and walked the few blocks to Cycle, I kicked off my tour with two half pours of the Cream and Sugar, Please Hazelnut American Porter and TR1 Double IPA respectively, followed by the Cookie Butter DOS American Imperial Stout. All the beers were phenomenal -- magical, very magical. The Cream and Sugar was creamy, smooth, and certainly tasted like you were enjoying some fresh coffee with cream. I tasted a little hazelnut on the back, with a little sweetness. Spot on. The TR1 was one of the better Double IPAs I have had, with a great balance of hops. It was refreshing and lingered so well on the finish. The Cookie Butter was absolutely magical. As I sipped, unicorns were bursting from the ceilings and taking me to another world tracked with rainbow bridges and cookie dough dreams, while hearing the sounds of orgasmic screams. Buttery and creamy the cookie dough aspect to the beer was so succinct and refined, I could savor this beer until the world ends. Being that they just celebrated their fifth anniversary, there were some special DOS beers for sale in bottle form -- all barrel-aged for at least one year. The only drawback is that they run $25 to $30 a bottle -- definitely on the pricey end; however, being that I was visiting from the West Palm area and this was my first trip to Cycle, I bought two: the Cocodamia and Hazelnut. Both were whiskey barrel-aged, with the former brewed with coconut, macadamia nuts, and coffee, and the latter with coconut and hazelnut (duh). Do note that they do NOT offer flights, so you're left to either order a half or full pour of a beer -- unless you do one of the barrel-aged beers, then it's a 9-10 oz pour only. Outside of the barrel-aged beers, most beers run $3 for half pours and $6 to $7 for full pours. The barrel-aged are $10 to $11 depending on what you order, so be warned, they're pricey, but worth it in my opinion. With regards to parking, being that Cycle is located in downtown St. Petersburg on Central Avenue, parking is going to be tight, especially, at night. While there is metered street parking (and the meter-maids are watching), there should be at least lot parking nearby; however, you may want to simply Uber from where you're staying/living since the beers are strong. If you haven't figured out that I like Cycle Brewing, you're not paying attention... You're not paying attention. Cycle Brewing should be on top of any craft beer connoisseur's list to check out in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area, as well as anyone who's in the downtown area of St. Pete and want to check out a great scene and equally great beer. I went there three times while I was in town for the weekend. THREE! You don't go to a brewery that frequently, especially, if you're visiting unless the beer and scene is that good. 5/6/2018 - By far the BEST BREWERY in St. Pete hands down. This brewery was ART! From the cool table tops, the bar, the chairs and the art you can buy on the walls, to the geometric tile floors. But it was all about the beer, specially the SOURS. Now, I have never been a fan of sours but my friends are. They were able to order half pours ($4) (if available) of the Blood Orange Boots and Mango Y'all Sour. I tasted them and had to order one! I got the Spa Water which was cucumber and lime. So, I don't even like cucumber, not even on my water but let me tell you this beer was FANTASTIC!. They were all refreshing and light, just perfect. We were also able to try a sample of the Hazelnut Cream & Sugar, Coffee Porter which was great! After touring various breweries in Tampa and in St. Pete for the weekend, we returned the next day to Cycle. We just fell in love with their sours. Unfortunately, the sours were made in small batch so the Spa Water had already sold out. Also, the sours were not available to take a crowler home. We went to a cupcake shop near by and grabbed a few cupcakes, ordered the sours, sat near the entrance to people and dog watch. I had the Mango Y'all this time and my friend ordered the Electric Boots Sour. I would definitely come back here! read more

Cycle Brewing makes some legitimately good beers. I have had some of their canned beers offsite (like Crank IPA - smooth and tasty, Cream + Sugar Please - a nice lactose coffee ale) but this was my first visit to their tap room. Cycle was one of the first breweries to reopen last month during the COVID craziness. Although the taproom was closed you could order a beer and sit out front. Unfortunately, there were only about three tables and no shade. It was miserably hot and I felt like a human rotisserie chicken. The IPA I had was pretty solid (can't remember the name but I'll look it up on Untapp'd) but the Raspberry Sour was pretty amazing. Another unfortunate side affect was that our beers were warming up rather quickly in the sun too. I do appreciate them making an effort to open during all this and hopefully next trip to St. Pete we'll get to sit in an air conditioned tap room!!! read more

This is my favorite brewery in the St. Petersburg area. Located in a great area with lots of shops and restaurants, you can sit near the entrance and people watch all day. Although not a large place there are plenty of tables and bar seating, including outside on the sidewalk. The tables near the wall are super cute with their little wall separating them and art in each little cubby. The beer is great. They had just released their sours when we got there and we loved all of them. Even if you don't like sours you'll like one of these. Spa Water was so refreshing and light and easy to drink. They serve half pours which is a plus if you're looking to try more than one but want more than a flight sized taste. We liked them so much that we went twice in two days. This is one of my favorite St. Pete breweries. When it comes to their beer, two of my favorites are Cycle fixie, an ipa that drinks like a high alcohol content ipa but only at 4.7%, and Cream and Sugar please, a coffee porter at 4.9%. Their beer is available throughout Tampa Bay but I have actually never been to the tasting room. It was nice and busy on a Thursday afternoon. I had the Neckerchief ipa which was delicious. They have a bar and tables inside and a patio outside. One female bartender calmly handling it all. Definitely will be back to this cool tasting room! read more

This brewery is awesome! My beer preference is the darker type, and after leaving a brewery that didn't have any porters, stouts, or brown ales, I walked right into heaven at this brewery! Cycle brewery can easily be missed if you're just walking by it, but once you get in, the staff will take care of you! There were three lists to order from, their regular drafts, their bomber bottle list, and a menu dedicated to barrel aged stouts, YES A LIST FOR BARREL AGED STOUTS ONLY! All of them were at least 10%, so I definitely got a glass off of that list! The only flaw with this brewery is that they don't have flights, but you can get a half pour, or a sample of any on the list except the barrel aged stout. Oh and you can have Uber Eats delivered to you while you're here! The two beers that I ordered were; The Please Hazelnut Cream and Sugar Porter, and the Cookie Butter barrel aged stout. I won't be stingy here. Five stars to this microbrewery, because I think they will become the next big thing in Florida. Tampa seems to have been blessed with some excellent beer, and this has made the city Florida's beer central. But St. Petersburg is not that far off with this "newer" brewery. Cycle Brewing is serving some hoppy, tasty stuff, and using good quality products to achieve these results. I enjoy their Pale Ales very much, and I also enjoy their stouts. Of these, they have several variations, all very well executed. This place is very relaxed. The space is open, there is air conditioning but the doors are never closed. It may be a bit sticky inside, a mosquito or two may fly by, but it is all in a laid back setting. There are also tables outside, and lots of people walk by. This may be the best brewery according to location, because most breweries are situated in industrial parks or defunct shopping centers. Cycle Brewing is located in the heart of main street St. Pete. Like other reviewers have pointed out, this is a cash only establishment. No beer flights are available, but tastings are available. Growlers are filled and they recently installed the can growler, "crowler" I think it's called. The kids here are cool, talkative, it's a really nice place for beer lovers. In A Nutshell: -Cycle Brewing is an okay brewery. -Located in St. Pete on Central Ave, it's very easy to find. -The area has decent nightlife and if you want to grab a nice craft brew, swing through here. -Inside feels like a blend between a coffee shop and small art museum. -The beers were good, but I prefer to have my glasses preferably refrigerated/frozen or at least at room temperature. -The glasses that the beer was served were "just washed with hot water" temp. Interesting vibe to the place. Certainly a bit less chill than St Pete, around the corner. Neither have food in the place, but St. Pete works with Angelo's who will deliver your food to the brewery. Overall, average. As usual, I will explain why I rated, as your mileage may vary. Cycle feels a bit more millennial than any of the other micros I visited in the area. I am guessing this is the St Pete area? Bar that runs down the wall, a few tables - in front and down the side - and a bit of an artsy feel. The bartender is tatted and a bit edgier than any of the micros I visited in Pinellas, but she knew a lot about the beer, which was better than another brewery in the area where the bartender could not recommend as "some people like fish and other like chicken". This is really about the beer, as there is not much else. The standard offerings are better than average. I feel Crank is a very interesting IPA with a bit of a creamy feel about it. It would actually be even more interesting on nitro to see whether it could go over the top, but some might argue that would ruin the IPAness of the beer. The real shining highlight, for me, was the Strike series of collaborations with some great breweries in the county, like Bottle Logic, Horus, Side Project, Jackie O's and Evil Twin. read more
