The Cycle Saloon is a great time and a fun way to spend a couple hours with your friends!! We had a group of 10 so all our pedals were covered. I will warn you it is not always easy. Fortunately, there is a beanch seat, and 2 bike seats that have no pedals so people who are physically challenged can still go. My friend had a discount code for the Cycle Pontoon - the boat version of Cycle Saloon - and she scheduled for a group of 16 of us to go out one (gorgeous!) Saturday afternoon. We were all able to bring our own drinks and snacks, and we met up at the docks where the Ride the Ducks boats enter the water. After taking off, we quickly learned that we didn't have to pedal in order to make the boat move, so we opted to stand out from under the awning in order to take advantage of that rare Seattle sunshine! We did a big loop around Lake Union for about 1.5 hours before returning to the dock, where the driver/captain had to pick up the next crew. It was a very fun and unique experience to be out on the water, but it's pretty expensive for what it is (assuming you don't have a coupon). You might be better off just renting a boat to use for as many hours as you want if you're not going to pedal either. :) read more

My friends and I rented a cycle saloon for a 30th birthday party for 2 hours. I wasn't quite sure how to rate this - we had an AMAZING time but I am chalking that more up to the company and the booze than the experience with cycle saloon. We spent very minimal time cycling - all of the breweries our driver took us too were very close together (walking distance). There were 11 of us and we each paid about $40 which isn't expensive but I'm just not convinced it was worth the money. Our driver was great - very friendly and was flexible when we would go over our allotted time at a certain brewery. Just did this last night with a group of friends for a birthday party - it was a lot of fun! It's super casual and easy, pedaled to three excellent breweries, had a beer at each one and then back. You can use your phone to play music on the cycle wagon so be sure to have a play list ready to go. Our driver was really nice and the evening went smoothly. We ordered sandwiches from Mean Sandwich at Peddler a few hours in advance so they were ready when we arrived (it was our first stop). Then we went to Stoup and Reuben's. There were ten of us, two with leg issues so only eight pedaled - and it was fine! Not hard at all. The evening was cool autumn evening but we wore jackets and you're only outside for like 15 minutes at a time. And actually we ended up sitting outside at two of the breweries anyway so it wasn't all that chilly. Overall a great time! I highly recommend it! read more

1. It is not a saloon. They DO NO provide beers along the ride. The tap and keg are for looks. They don't frown upon bringing your own so make sure you do for a better experience. 2. It is not a tour. We stopped for 20 minutes at 3 breweries and you ordered your own beer. The breweries do not give any information or tour of any kind. Also no samples. Therefore if you are looking to simply bar hop and cycle yourself for $25 a person it is perfect. I will say our driver was very nice and the group we were with was fun. The Cycle Saloon is an awesome time. The home base (not marked, go to the boat ramp, take a right, it's at the far end of the building) is right near a bunch of microbrews, which the the owner/driver knew very well -- she is SUPER nice by the way. My group of 8 was a bunch of out-of-towners and knew none of the brews, so the local knowledge was great. We hit about 4 places in 2 hours, and even got some good pedaling going in the meantime. I would definitely go at least 6 pedalers on the cycle at a time. It would be most comfortable with more than 10 able pedalers (who are taller than 5'2" or 5'3"). Last thing, wear regular shoes, flip flops will probably come flying off while pedaling with a couple of microbrews in you. Pro-tip: Get the 'Banquet Permit' from the city for $10 online (we secured it on a Sunday! in about 10 mins) and then bring along a few road sodas to "help your pedaling." There's a spot for an iPod (or equivalent) as well on the bike. read more

This was very new to me, and it was about 6 of us who got on the "Cycle Saloon." I was very excited because I went in thinking it was going to be a small bar in the cart or some arrangement where you could bring your beer with you (from the other bars.) Warning: DO NOT do this if you have less than the maximum amount of people the cycle saloon can hold. It was very exhausting as some of our friends didnt have the physical capacity to keep up with the rest of the group. It is a nice route, you go to a bunch of different bars and micro breweries within the vicinity, but the peddling on the saloon is quite sobering (literally.) I cant stress enough how you should fill the saloon up to maximum capacity, it will be much better for everyone and more enjoyable. The one thing that did bother me was the fact that you couldnt have beer on the saloon. Our driver told us that it was only for show (the bar/cup holders.) Strange though, you have cup holders "for show?" Anyway, I would still recommend to my friends and family that they should try it. read more

In theory this seems really fun, but it was more like a rushed workout haha. Up to 15 people can fit on the bike but 5 of the seats don't have pedals so good option so there are seats for people that wouldn't be able to bike, but bad for everyone else to pedal harder for the extra weight on the bike lol. There isn't an office for the cycle saloon, it's just locked up in an outdoor fenced spot, so we met in front and then our driver Ashley appeared from her parked car. Had some people help push the bike out from the fenced area and hopped on. Because of Seattle laws, we aren't able to actually drink beer or alcohol on the bike unfortunately. There were cup holders for water or other snacks, and overhead areas for storage too. We were told to sign waivers ahead of time, but our driver just asked if we did them but didn't actually confirm that they were signed. Reviewed basic rules, stay on the bike, don't be a dingus, etc. For the actual biking, we barely moved, probably going 5 mph when everyone's pedaling. It would be faster to walk and probably less annoying to the cars stuck behind us. Luckily for the Ballard area, the breweries are only a few blocks away, but we rolled up sweating and out of breath. There's an aux cord on the bike to connect and play music (bring a converter if you have an iphone) and once the bike is parked, you have about 20 minutes to order, pay, drink, mingle. We chose 3 breweries for our two hour time slot starting at 1:30pm to Reuben's, Stoup, and Popaluxe, and had to strictly be back by 3:30pm. I was disappointed because it was less of an experience and more about a cheesy way to transport and drop off people for beer. I like that they partner with local breweries to support them and the Ballard community, but I thought our driver could have been more enthusiastic, and pump us it. Besides not checking our waivers, there was an option on the waiver for helmets, but she didn't mention that when we started. When we arrived to each place, she told us our time limit, mentioned she would not be on the bike waiting, and would sit by herself until we were finished. I kind of felt like we were children being driven and dropped out to go play at the playground haha. All in all, cool idea, but sketchy. Probably easier to get a group together, save $35 per person (since that didn't go towards any beer included in the price or discounts as a group, just the actual biking) and brewery hop since they are all walking distance to each other. read more

I would not recommend this as an event. We booked it this last Friday as a team event and it was just a series of not great experiences. The driver was over 20 minutes late with no communication. He REEKED of BO, so much so that even the seats all the way in the back were washed in the smell. He was not very fun or communicative, didn't offer up suggestions of which bars to go to until we pressed for where he'd taken people before. The bar/bike only had 3 seats that were adjustable so about 3/4 of us basically couldn't help pedal. He offered a phone plug to play music but then didn't have an iphone adapter so none of us could use it. Then turned on the radio but said he didn't know how to change the channel. The worst part was at the last bar, he dropped us off, we basically still had people ordering, and he crankily told us we had to leave in 5 minutes. Would have been better if he'd just told us from the start we could either see 2 places and be not rushed or go fast and see 3. Overall, for what we paid, we should have just walked to each bar and used that money to pay for drinks. Would definitely not recommend. read more

The party planner that I am booked this for a little celebration and my entire group had a blast. I guess it really depends on the group you are with because we passed by the other bike, and it looked as much fun as watching paint dry. Our driver was great too, we convinced him to stop at a bevmo so we could pick up some extra beverages. Our group had sooo much fun with the cycle saloon! Oh my gosh what a fun experience. Our guide was very good at amping our group up and made us feel safe while having a blast. I was worried because all of the reviews made it sound like we wouldn't have enough time at the breweries, but we found we had more than enough time, even with the St Patrick's Day lines! No problems with the music, and the cord he gave us even charged my phone the whole way. It is a bit of a workout but it's not challenging... you're having so much fun you don't realize you're working out. Everyone on the streets were cheering us on and were super jealous. Had a fantastic time on this cycle tour. The owner/driver was super nice and she is very knowledgeable of the area and she asked us what we liked before planning our route. The cycling can be difficult at times, especially after you have had a few. The more people you have to pedal, the better. Feel free to bring an ipod because she has a dock for it. I saw these in Bend, Oregon and debated making a special trip just to check it out because it looked like so much fun. Luckily for me less than a year later I came across a daily deal for one in my own backyard. I know here they are available all over the place, but this is my first experiences with them. I admit I was disappointed to learn you don't actually get to drink alcohol while pedaling, but taking it to neighborhood bars is nearly as fun. Got a group of 4 friends and hit up a tour on a beautiful sunny, sunday afternoon in Ballard. My one friend was too short to reach the pedals, apparently you must be taller than 5'3 but she still had a great time and the contraption even comes with non cycling seats. I believe it seats 16, us 3 peddlers did find it to be a bit of hard work, but super fun at the same time. In a 2 hour tour we made 3 stop offs to different bar areas. I would like to suggest that future tours take 3 stops and leave anyone who doesnt care to end yet off at the 4th stop which is very close to the pick up point. Most stops were too short to order food, be warned that tours do not include anything besides transportation, however Tracy the owner is quite knowledgable about happy hours and prices and is trying to work out deals with the local bars. read more

I went on the Cycle Saloon August 6, 2015 and had a great time. Unfortunately, I scheduled my tour too close to my flight and was running late in traffic. They were able to accommodate my father and I as we met them at their first stop rather than the "meet up" location. All of the stops were unique and had different types of beer to choose from. I will say that you can still have a great time even if you don't drink because the food was amazing! The food trucks were parked at some of the stops, while others actually had a regular menu. One in particular (I cannot remember the name) had a vegan food truck. This is great as I am a vegetarian and sometimes "bar food" is limited to wings and such. Everyone on the tour was really cool and it was nice to have people honking and waving (no single finger salutes :) while we toured the breweries. I highly recommend! read more

The cost is just for the transportation/time but we had some pizza delivered at the launch and ate along the way between stops. We stopped at four places in two hours...and that turned out to be plenty... We were celebrating my mothers birthday and her being free of breast cancer for 5 years now. That cancer almost took her life. At the end of the 2 hour ride for $360, the driver said in front of most of the group that he needs to get more of a tip because this ride was $360 and the tip we gave was not enough in relation to the over all cost of the booking. The way the driver addressed his disappointment was very unprofessional. By saying the cost in front of the Birthday girl made her feel very uncomfortable that we paid that much for her birthday. A few of us saved up a lot of money for this birthday party and spent a lot of time planning. We tipped the driver for two hours, we didn't know we were to tip like we were in a restaurant. I am very disappointed in the ending to what could have been an awesome night just because the driver needed an extra $15. read more

Threw a party for my husband's birthday this past weekend. We invited about 16 people and packed the Cycle Saloon...this was one of the best events EVER. Everyone had a terrific time. They loved the breweries, loved the Saloon, thought Lee was a great driver, and even though it was raining, someone lost a wallet, and another almost got into a fight, the night was a huge, resounding success. We brought plenty of beers, Jell-o shots, and even some liquor in plastic containers. I'd recommend being ready to get a bit warm while cycling. They had some music there for us to choose from so it really felt like a festive party. I'd like to also add that due to a small (HUGE) mishap with my registration not going through (my fault probably, not theirs) we had our party organized but I realized a couple hours before the event that they had no record of our reservation. I called and spoke with Tracy completely last-minute and she was beyond helpful and kind. She found a driver for us and all we had to do was change the location of our meetup. The rest of the day went without a hitch. Thank you Tracy and Lee for being part of a really fun day. I cannot thank you enough. I'd recommend Cycle Saloon for birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties and don't be scared of a little rain. We did the Cycle Pontoon on Lake Union for my wife's birthday party. The pontoon fits 14 but we only had 12 and there were no issues navigating around. Unlike the cycle saloon, you don't need a banquet permit since you're just chartering a boat and a driver for an hour and a half. If you get tired cycling, the pontoon can be driven by the driver while you take a break. We will definitely book another tour on the cycle pontoon. read more

This was one of the coolest things I have done in the area. Originally we booked for the Fremont tour but, at the last minute they had some issues come up so we ended up going to the Ballard area. Another company needs to open in Seattle so this company has some competition to lower prices. For $400 drinks at the bars or something else should be included. Everyone had a great time, our driver was awesome and fun. But he literally just steered the bike. Only do this if you have the maximum amount of people to pedal. It wasn't as fun as I'd hoped. Our driver was over half an hour late, and he showed up in a dirty shirt and smelled like he hadn't showered in three weeks. Those of us sitting near him were gagging, and even the folks at the back of the cycle could smell him. One of our group members ran to the drugstore during our first stop to buy him deodorant. (He used it, and also changed his shirt.) The cycling part is extremely short, maybe 10-15 minutes in total. We stopped at three cool breweries, but you buy all your own drinks - nothing comes with the cycle trip, and you can't drink on the vehicle itself. We bought this at an auction, so I don't know what the normal cost is, but beware that all you're really getting is the novelty of pedaling down the streets of Ballard on a funny-looking wagon for a few minutes. read more

We rented both bikes out for a 40th birthday last weekend and everyone in our group of 29 people had an absolute blast! The owner was really helpful through the booking process and everything went off without any issues. Our group had to start off in 2 different locations but it worked out great because we surprised the birthday girl with the other half of our friends riding up to us at the first stop on another cycle saloon! Because our group was so large it was definitely helpful to do the cycles for 3-hours because it can be time consuming getting everyone out of the bar and back on the cycle. Also, with that many people on the bikes it was definitely more of a workout then we were expecting but a sweaty good time! The 3-hour time was perfect. For the last hour we parked between the Shelter and 2-Bit Saloon which was great because people could go into the bar or they could choose to sit on the cycles, chill and hang out! A definite must are getting a liquor license and making sure you bring an iPod for music. I booked the cycle brewery tour for a party of 8 for my family visiting from Florida since several visiting our beer lovers and they have been on a cycle saloon like this in Savannah GA and had a great time. Unfortunately, our Seattle experience was not the same as the Savannah cycle tour. When trying to find the starting destination, I called the office line and got a flat toned woman who offered little excitement about our upcoming tour visit. When we did arrive and were eager for the tour, we were speaking with the group exiting off the bike saloon. Much to our dismay, their response was "Ehh.. It is OK, Do not go to Bad Jimmy's. It is hot and the beer is just alright." We mentioned this to the driver. The driver was not engaging at all and in fact kind of surly. When my family was asking about the city or destinations of the pubs, he just gave short few word responses. We all were looking at each other in sad disbelief that I paid over 224.00 for this dreadful "experience". The fact that there was no music was absurd. When I asked why there was no music provided, he just shrugged. One of our party tried to hook up his I phone but could not figure out how to plug it in to the bar system. The driver offered no assistance and we all were so disappointed with his attitude we just peddled in silence. 3 of the chains had broken prior to us boarding so only 5 of us were able to peddle. When I asked why were some seats not working, the driver casually remarked " Oh yeah, a couple of the chains broke earlier today". So the few of us who did peddle had twice as much work. The 1st stop- Bad Jimmie's. When we said that we asked to skip this "brewery" the driver shrugged and said it is good. We all agreed with the previous tour experience notes. A hot an sweaty garage with no air conditioning and sub-par beer. They had no idea we were coming and they, nor ANY, of the places we were taken to offered samples of their taps. I would think that this would be called ahead to let these establishments know that a tour group is coming, to please be OPEN and gracious to the guests arrival. The next 2 "breweries" we peddled to were closed when we got there. When I complained to the driver to take us to a brewery that actually was open, he got upset with me instead of trying to appease me, the customer. He took us to a pub. We ended at the Hale's Ale house. The brewery part was closed so we sat at the bar. A very disappointing experience that I would never recommend and actually deter anyone from attending until changes were made to better the customer experience. read more

We did the Cycle Saloon Boat Tour to Lake Union! I rented this for my younger sisters Bachelorette Party and it was great! You can bring your own food and drinks (no hard A). There are coolers in the middle of the of the boat for you to store your drinks, and grab at any time of the ride. The boat was super cute, the sunset was gorgeous, and the captain was friendly. Overall a really great experience! Tracy was extremely pleasant to work with. She was so easy to contact, and answered all of my questions so quickly! I recommend the boat tour to everyone. Only downside is that there is no restroom and they don't stop anywhere, but I thought I heard the captain mention an on-board restroom may be coming? I reserved the cycle saloon for my husband and his friends, kind of as a last hoorah (we are expecting our first child in a few weeks). I received a phone call from the driver, Nate, saying he was running late, but he did not offer to extend the ride the amount of time he was late. I can only leave a review from what I heard from the guys, as I had no contact with the driver, but I did not hear positive things. Not only was Nate late, but he also had an attitude with the guys the entire tour. They had asked if he had any advice on where they should go, he provided non except to get a burger at one location. Also, he threw a stink at the end of the tour about deserving a tip for "all the work he did." When one of the participants put in a low dollar denomination, Nate told him to "just keep it." Talk about customer service skills. Additionally, I never received a confirmation email for my reservation. I had sent them an email, and after not hearing back from them I called. It took three phone calls (with no answer), a voicemail, and two emails to finally hear back & get a meet up location. The website was unclear & not user friendly. Overall, if you are looking for a tour I would just google some places and do a self guided tour. It would be MUCH cheaper and much more enjoyable. read more

I have been on CS twice in the past two years. The first time with a birthday party we rented the entire bike and had a blast peddling around Ballard. The second time was with a couple of friends on the brewery bike, which starts in Fremont. Both times were a lot of fun. The brewery bike is a bit more of a workout due to starting in Fremont, but it just makes that first stop and beer that follows that much better. Both rides our driver was Tal. He is great! Took us where we wanted to go, had some good suggestions when we didn't know were to stop next, and most importantly, kept the group peddling. Good times on the CS. We did this for a team building event in mid-July and about 5 seconds into the gig, we were all overheating so bring plenty to drink. 16 of us onboard and we alternated peddling a bit 'cuz the rig only has one gear so you definitely get a work out. Thankfully our route was fairly flat - dwn Leery to Brouwer's and back. Made 3 stops in 3 hours and were high-fivin' folks in cars all along the way. This thing ROCKS and is a must-do for any group that really wants to connect. Owner is a great sport and super accommodating and YES, as the other reviewer said- be sure to get the $10 banquet permit from the city of Seattle - only takes a couple minutes online, costs $10, and makes all the difference to be able to have a few brews in route. There's even a place to hold a keg onboard but that's extra weight that won't be peddling on its own so be warned! Zero complaints about the whole adventure and I scored some major points w/my company for finding such an imaginative team building event. read more
