Immediately when I walked in, I noticed it was clean and bright, and the front desk staff standing right at the entrance. There were maybe 5-6 employees standing there. They were intially quite friendly, but then I noticed the guys standing at the desk started turning and whispering to one another. Then these same guys starting making "compliments" on my outfit, then proceeded to turn to each other and laugh and look back at me. This type of interaction is exactly why people feel uncomfortable in the gym. This was so rude and unprofessional and made this gym so unappealing to me. Following this interaction, I didn't even want to work out due to me feeling so uncomfortable and awkward. As an employee in a gym you should be welcoming not judgmental! Really sad. I hope this doesn't happen to another girl.

Earlier this year, I tried to use a guest pass on my grandparents membership. I was unaware of how the process works, you know how instructions from grandparents can be. After a few phone calls I admit the mixup was on our end and they no longer have their membership so I continue to purchase a day pass, staff wasn't necessarily the most kind, but they were still professional. A few months later, I'm considering getting a membership since I'm on that side of town more often, the person that reached out to me stated that there's a note on my profile that I gave a fake name, and continued to tell me twice that after the enrollment fee fees and monthly fee fees, it probably would not be worth it for me to become a member. The vibe seemed to push that she did not want me to be a member. She was still professional, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and made me feel unwelcome to join. A shame because my best friend was looking to join the same week as me and now will not.

Her instructions were clear to follow and she was good at checking up on each of us to make sure we had good form. If you are a first timer be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early so your instructor can give you the details on how the equipment works and go over all the different moves for the class. It was my first time using the megaformer so there was a bit of a learning curve but it wasn't too bad using it. I definitely got a good workout and various muscles were sore the next day. The room and equipment were all very well maintained and there was a lot of cool air flow throughout the class so while the workout could be intense, I never felt overheated or warm. A couple of years ago, I…read moreeven purchased my own suit and battery so I could continue working out while visiting family in Michigan -- I didn't want to miss two weeks of training. That's one of the biggest advantages here: it's a workout you can truly take anywhere. I've brought mine on a cruise and fully plan to take it along on future trips as well. I also wanted to share my perspective regarding a couple of other comments. One mentioned pricing. While everyone evaluates value differently, this type of training really isn't comparable to a traditional gym. It's a bit like comparing a fine dining experience to a casual restaurant -- both serve food, but the experience, convenience, and results are different. I can't take gyms like EOS or Mountainside Fitness with me when I travel, but I can take this workout anywhere. That flexibility and convenience are worth it to me. Another comment discussed suit sizing. From my experience, the suit does need to fit snugly to work properly. If it isn't tight enough, you simply won't get the best results and the workout can feel off. The belt is meant for support, and like anything, some styles fit certain body types better than others. I personally avoid one design because it's a bit long for my torso and uncomfortable -- but the trainers have worn and fitted countless suits and usually know what will work best for each person. When I attended classes regularly, they consistently guided me toward the right fit, often better than I could myself. Their recommendations are meant to help maximize the workout, not to be taken negatively. Overall, I've had a very positive experience and appreciate having a workout option that travels with me wherever life takes me.

I moved to Phoenix in January and since they don't have 24 Hour Fitness in town, I was looking for…read morea new gym. I ended up deciding on Mountainside Fitness. The Desert Ridge location is closest to me, but I was in the mood for some variety so I checked out the Frank Lloyd Wright location on a Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. And boy was I happy I did! Compared to the location I typically go to, this on is roughly double the size. Which is very much a good thing for a gym. It means more room in between machines, less human traffic jams, and better amenities. There's a full-size basketball court, while my location only has a half court. The basketball court doubles as a pickle ball court...though that's not a plus for me. I'm one of the leading pickle ball haters in the country. And here's the kicker: they have an infrared sauna. I personally have never seen this at a gym. It's cooler than a dry sauna, so this was a pleasant surprise. If you have an upgraded membership, they also have two cold plunge baths. My only criticism? The water pressure at one of the water fountains is so low that not enough water comes out so you're worried your mouth will actually touch the metal as you're trying to drink. And if someone is filling up their water bottle at the water fountain next to it, no water will com out of yours. You would think this is something they could fix. Like the other Mountainside Fitness locations I have been to, this gym is clean (locker room, showers, and bathroom included), well-equipped, offers complimentary towels, mouthwash, and body lotion, has a cafe with smoothies and snacks, and more. They have a huge parking lot, so I didn't have trouble finding a spot (albeit not close). It's easier to park here than some of their other locations where the lot is smaller. For the money you pay for a membership, Mountainside Fitness is hands down the best gym I have ever been to. Their presence on Yelp proves it. Rarely does a gym have a rating of 4.0 or above. Mountainside Fitness has that.
