The store staff has been very kind and helpful with my wife who is currently training for a triathlon. I brought in a flat that needed fixed and they helped me there, I had another oddball bike project that I needed help with that unfortunately ended up being beyond what was smart to spend economically speaking, but that's not the bike shops fault. It was just that If you're re-building an old beater bike to give away to a kid, its hard to make that economically feasible when buying components at bike shop retail prices. This probably offended them because I didn't offer an explanation but they are going to need to forgive me if they want me as a new-bike customer. Everyone knows that the bike industry is currently in the middle of its worst-ever recession. The pandemic-induced interest spike in bikes was immediately followed by a Massive drop off in demand that many fellow bike nerds are predicting will last way into 2027. I did notice that every time I went in to the Bowling Green Cyclewerks shop it I was the only customer which is not good. The listed prices on their new treks was exactly what trek shows on their website - it occurred to me with things as they are you'd think that they'd offer a discount to the LBS dealers to give them a competitive lifeline... The best item I have purchased from the shop so far was the Hoag wildflower Honey that the owner Jon Hoag produces from his Apiary in nearby Whitehouse Ohio. . So many of the old LBS I used to know and patronize are gone, hopefully Cyclewerks can find a way to re-invent itself and stay open. I am disappointed in CycleWerks: while the staff is nice and they have "tried to find the right…read morebike" for me but they have missed the mark: the first two I don't blame them because my needs evolved, the FX Sport 4 was a disaster: selling me a $2K bike (decent carbon frame) with a $700 drivetrain was an absolute ripoff. Had the salesperson (whom I won't name) told me I needed a better drivetrain and go higher, I would have done more research and found my way to an Endurance Bike. I went to another bike shop locally, and they flat out said their is nothing that could be done to upgrade the bike, get a better bike (ie Endurance). They sold me the closest bike to what they had for what I described, but they didn't talk thru all the options, and the salesperson telling me this was a performance bike with a Shimano Cues was not accurate: this was also the guy that said I would average 20mph, which I am lucky to do 16-17 mph. Unless you know what you want, they are not going to talk thru the options, they will just sell you a bike, even it is not right or the components are absolute junk. While I can't say don't shop from them, don't expect them to provide knowledge and direct you towards the right bike: thus the 3 star rating (kind of average).

I made the quick trip to Prospect to Jeffs bicycle repair. He let me try several bikes around the neighborhood. I was given good instruction how to drive them. I was shown the differences between the different bikes. They had several different suppliers and models to test. I ended up ordering one and a bike rack also. They will be putting it together for me when it comes in. I was super impressed by the customer service and happy to support a local business.
