Cyclo Vietnamese Cuisine stands out from the many other Vietnamese restaurants in the valley by serving dishes that are not as common. I would definitely go here if you're looking for something new or seeking a rarer dish. They also have VERY generous portion sizing, so it's pretty good value. If you wanted something familiar like pho or rice dishes, I personally feel that other places do them better. I have a family member who went separately who said the banh khot (a rarer dish in the US) they ordered was better than the regular Vietnamese offerings. When my partner I went, service was a little slow and distracted. They currently have the World Cup games playing on the TV for both customers and themselves. I don't mind the fanfare around the excitement for the games, but the waiter did get our food order wrong due to the distraction :( The bussed tables were pretty clean, but a lot of tables were left unbussed for a very long time due to the game too. My partner and I went with the meatball and brisket pho and bun thit nuong (except this one came out wrong and was just bun cha gio). Cyclo's pho style is on the sweeter side. I was a little shocked at how sweet it was. The bowl size is huge and comes with plenty of noodles. They don't skimp. My partner's bun cha gio was okay. Cyclo is a little more special in that they put taro in their cha gio (egg rolls). We personally weren't fans of this, but it is unique. The taro gives the filling a slimier texture. Overall, my partner and I wouldn't return again for the food unless we wanted something more new, but we do love how good value Cyclo is. read more

I really enjoy coming here since they offer a few dishes that you don't normally see in most Vietnamese restaurants these days. And, the definitely hit the spot. Bánh khọt- we ordered this as our appetizer, essentially. It tasted great and had plenty of veggies to go with. Presentation was a little less than but I'd prefer that the food tasted good which it did. Bánh xèo is a good option if you prefer something bigger. Phở đặc biệt- loved how loaded this comes with beef, tendon, tripe, and meatballs. The broth was deep in flavor and balance between the sweet and savory. Upon entering, I saw many Asian people dining here, which is typically a good sign. We ordered the brisket pho, banh khot, and canh chua. The brisket pho was not bad, but the broth tasted off to me. I can't put my finger on it but the herbs kinda helped mask it. The brisket itself was delicious and tender. The banh khot was decent as expected. Some parts were crispy but others weren't. We enjoyed our time here. Second time my bf has come here and really enjoys the mixed meat fried rice. I thought it was pretty tasty as well. The egg rolls were good. My vege tofu broth lacked a little flavor but after adding some hot sauce it was better. Usually that's the issue with vege tofu so it's not out of the norm for any vege pho I get anywhere. I love the amount of veges and the variety they put. If I could get the vege pho with chicken broth I bet it would be yummy. We arrived on a Saturday at 730pm. We were sat right away. My wife and I were pretty impressed with the authenticity of Cyclo. Its definitely one of the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants we've been to so far in Phoenix with less common dishes such as Banh khot, canh chua, and Bo La lot. We ordered the Banh khot as an appetizer and it was pretty solid. A little hit and miss on the crispness and solid flavor but nothing special. The canh chua was tasty and hit all the notes I was craving for. Note - it's HUGE and not meant to be eaten alone, which I failed at (to a server's amusement). That same server was a kind old man who was incredibly friendly and seemed overjoyed that my wife and I are Vietnamese haha my wife got the pho and there was definitely an interesting after taste to it. Not a bad one, but different. If I had to guess, it's from the ratio of spices like too much star anise or something strange. I liked my food and the menu selection is pretty extensive too. So no complaints about that. This rating is solely reflective of their service and business practice? Our tab had an auto 20% gratuity already added on to it. But when I was paying I wasn't aware and made a comment regarding the selections for tipping percentage on the iPad being low. Our server, I believe whose name is Thuy, heard the comment but don't say anything so I assumed tipping wasn't added and tipped 20% on top of that. Once the transaction is done, I wasn't asked if I want the receipt and he quickly tapped on "no receipt" for me. ‍‍ I later found out we tipped closed to 50 percent of the tab, which I have no problem with if it was great service. But all of these seem sneaky if not deceptive. Not sure if it's individual doing or the typical practice of this restaurant, but it was my first time here and sure won't be back. Such a fantastic gem with delicious and authentic Vietnamese food. A group of us came here when there was a lunch rush but we didn't wait too long before being seated. It is a small restaurant but don't let that fool you. Their assortments of delicious food options are plenty. I ordered their bun bo hue and I'm totally shocked by how flavorful it was. It totally reminds me of my mother's. My husband ordered the crispy noodle dish and absolutely loved it. They don't skimp on the protein. I was craving pho and was heading into Chandler to find all the sweet spots as I needed to do an Asian grocery run anyway. If you're looking for Asian grocery anything, you know Chandler is the general spot to get everything all in one go for good prices! I debated on going to my usual pho spot but decided to find something within the area. Everyone raves about A Ma's but I wanted to give another small business a try and BOYYY, do I not regret it! This spot is definitely a hidden gem-- not too busy but do feel they are understaffed as I think only 2 people were operating the entire restaurant with a semi-full house. I found it hilarious listening to country music while in the restaurant-- the restaurant has a personality of its own. LOL. I waited a good bit to get seated and get my orders done but I knew they were understaffed so I just decided to really look through their menu... and there it is. They had BANH KHOT! I'm a big fan of banh xeo and usually I'd only see banh xeo on Vietnamese menus so seeing them serve banh khot caught me by surprise as I used to order this all the time when I lived in The Bay! I've been away from The Bay for a year now so I'm still really trying to find all my favorite spots. I feel like most people really go for pho but there are so many different items to explore on the menu beyond pho.. and this place has all my favorite Vietnamese dishes. They even have banh cuon! Now for the pho... it's about $17 for a LARGE bowl. Which I think, is now issue.. but honestly, one large bowl can feed two people if I'm being honest. I would love to have the option to have small/med/large because the meat to noodle ratio was way off for this one. However, the broth is great.. it's not heavy, oily and very light. I also really do appreciate them having small sauce dishes so I can dip my pho meat pieces in sriracha & hoisin sauce (a technique a lot of my Vietnamese BFFs taught me growing up in The Bay Area)!!! 1/24/26: It was good, but I would not return -- only because I am extremely finnicky about my food. I hate any type of seafood, cannot stomach onions or peppers, despise almost any kind of vegetable (except corn & taters). Why did I try Cyclo then? I tagged along with my sister & her co-workers. I saw a few things on the menu that looked like it was something I could eat without too much trouble. I failed to take a picture of the Mongolian beef that I ordered, but it was inundated with onions. That's the weird thing: I don't mind the flavor they add to the dish, I simply do not want to eat them. The but the beef was very good (well seasoned) ... but it took me a long time to remove the onions. I should have ordered the sweet & sour chicken. The restaurant is small and the bathroom needs some repair. There was a large towel around the bowl (clearly soaking up leaking water) and I had to flush it three times. My husband got a grilled pork banh mi and loved it, and I ordered the brisket/steak pho. The banh mi bread was excellent and it was a decent size for the price. First time and went with a friend who has been here before. Small space with about 10-22 tables...noticed they do a lot of takeout. Fairly large menu with tons of options. Wife and friend ordered the Seafood Pho and I got the Vermicelli with tofu and veggies. We also ordered the Cyclo appetizer platter which was perfect for two. Choices included their spring rolls, Rangoon, rocket shrimp, and fried dumplings. This platter was pretty good and came with three different dipping sauces including peanut sauce sweet chili sauce and a lightly spicy vinegar sauce. The peanut sauce missed the mark for me only because it didn't have that strong peanut flavor. The spring roll was as really good and fresh and had the addition of a mint leave in it. I didn't care for the Vermicelli dish...it was lacking flavor and sauce and the tofu was really overcooked for me. The other two enjoyed their Pho but there were some chewy squid in it which wife didn't care for. I tasted the broth and feel like it wasn't as flavorful as we've had at other places. Ordered Goi Cuon to start with and ordered the beef special Pho. Goi Cuon was pretty good.. I would say the meat they put in had some more flavor compare to other places. The Pho was pretty darn good. The broth had nice clean flavorful. I would say one of the best broth I've tasted. Over all it was pretty good. Stopped in to grab lunch to go in between doctor appointments nearby. Ordered the spring rolls and the sweet & sour tofu with a side of veggies. The rolls were hearty & filling, and I loved that there was tofu in it for some protein and that it was cooked firm. The veggies were crisp and fresh as well and the peanut dipping sauce was to die for. Literally ate every last drop. Sweet & sour chicken was my favorite before I went vegan, so I was excited to see it as a tofu option. The tofu again was cooked well (I don't like when it's soft and mushy) and the sauce was just the right amount of sweet. I wish there were some pineapple and peppers in it, but that was really the only negative. The rice was cooked to perfection and the side veggies were steamed yet still crisp. Was at work one chilly day and I was craving for a bowl of pho so I decided to do a Grubhub delivery order. There were several pho restaurants to pick from but I opted to order from Cyclo since I love beef rib pho. I ordered the beef rib pho and the Crispy Vietnamese Crepe - Banh Xeo. Both portions were pretty big. One thing I was disappointed about was that my order did not include any sriracha or hoisin sauce for the pho. Pricing was a little more than I'd expected but seeing the inflation in everything we buy today, I guess it was still fair. Now onto the flavor of the food that I ordered. The pho broth was good, not great but it was good. The beef rib had a lot of meat on it, it soft and tender and tasty! The crepes in my opinion were the best I'd ever had, there were tender pieces of shrimp, pork, and vegetables. The veggies that you get on the side were plentiful and fresh.
