    Brisket Pho
    Kathy M.

I'm Vietnamese and I grew up in Houston so I'm picky. I'm purely rating this place based on the food but overall, Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Cleanliness: 4.5/5 My husband and I decided to try this place out since a content creator shared a video of the banh khot, which you rarely see in Phoenix. Upon entering, I saw many Asian people dining here, which is typically a good sign. We ordered the brisket pho, banh khot, and canh chua. The brisket pho was not bad, but the broth tasted off to me. I can't put my finger on it but the herbs kinda helped mask it. The brisket itself was delicious and tender. The banh khot was decent as expected. Some parts were crispy but others weren't. It was missing a "wow" factor. The canh chua was my favorite. It was huge! Overall, all the portions are pretty big here, which sorta makes up for the prices. An old man who was serving us realized we were Vietnamese and spoke to us. He was really sweet and funny. Overall, I wouldn't order the pho and banh khot again because they weren't that good to me. I've had better in Houston and Westminster. I might return for the canh chua or other dishes since they have a big menu.

We enjoyed our time here. Second time my bf has come here and really enjoys the mixed meat fried rice. I thought it was pretty tasty as well. The egg rolls were good. My vege tofu broth lacked a little flavor but after adding some hot sauce it was better. Usually that's the issue with vege tofu so it's not out of the norm for any vege pho I get anywhere. I love the amount of veges and the variety they put. If I could get the vege pho with chicken broth I bet it would be yummy. We arrived on a Saturday at 730pm. We were sat right away. It seems popular there's a constant flow of people but not packed. Easy parking. Simple, clean aesthetic. Service was fine, not warm, nice enough. He was busy. There's an error online with their Saturday hours. They are actually opened until 830PM I confirmed with the server. Definitely interested to come back

My wife and I were pretty impressed with the authenticity of Cyclo. Its definitely one of the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants we've been to so far in Phoenix with less common dishes such as Banh khot, canh chua, and Bo La lot. We ordered the Banh khot as an appetizer and it was pretty solid. A little hit and miss on the crispness and solid flavor but nothing special. The canh chua was tasty and hit all the notes I was craving for. Note - it's HUGE and not meant to be eaten alone, which I failed at (to a server's amusement). That same server was a kind old man who was incredibly friendly and seemed overjoyed that my wife and I are Vietnamese haha my wife got the pho and there was definitely an interesting after taste to it. Not a bad one, but different. If I had to guess, it's from the ratio of spices like too much star anise or something strange. It didn't bother me as much as it bothered my wife but definitely noticeable. Overall it satisfied my craving, and while it didn't knock any dish out of the park I would say it was successful on all!

Nice Vietnamese Gem tucked away a small strip mall. Really expansive menu, includes some great Shara le dishes like clay pot catfish, spare ribs, and banh khot, which is really uncommon as most places usually just have pho and banh mi. The cook that brings your order to you seems quite pleased with his work, bringing it out with a smile on his face. Prices are reasonable.

Came in for lunch on a weekday, and it was really quiet. The food was decent, but it didn't wow us like all the social media hype suggested. The service was okay, we never got a refill on our water, and the server also got my order wrong. The restaurant itself was clean, though. There are still a few menu items that caught my interest, so I might come back and give it another try.

Quick and friendly service in the afternoon. Decor is okay maybe a little touch up paint The food is what we were there for and it had been many years (15+) but hey was still what we remember and really good.

Such a fantastic gem with delicious and authentic Vietnamese food. A group of us came here when there was a lunch rush but we didn't wait too long before being seated. It is a small restaurant but don't let that fool you. Their assortments of delicious food options are plenty. I ordered their bun bo hue and I'm totally shocked by how flavorful it was. It totally reminds me of my mother's. My husband ordered the crispy noodle dish and absolutely loved it. They don't skimp on the protein. The salted plum drink was also a perfect addition to the meal. I will definitely return for the bun bo hue.

1/24/26: It was good, but I would not return -- only because I am extremely finnicky about my food. I hate any type of seafood, cannot stomach onions or peppers, despise almost any kind of vegetable (except corn & taters). Why did I try Cyclo then? I tagged along with my sister & her co-workers. I saw a few things on the menu that looked like it was something I could eat without too much trouble. I failed to take a picture of the Mongolian beef that I ordered, but it was inundated with onions. That's the weird thing: I don't mind the flavor they add to the dish, I simply do not want to eat them. The but the beef was very good (well seasoned) ... but it took me a long time to remove the onions. I should have ordered the sweet & sour chicken. The restaurant is small and the bathroom needs some repair. There was a large towel around the bowl (clearly soaking up leaking water) and I had to flush it three times. They had a decent crowd so obviously many people enjoy their food.

All time favorite Vietnamese spot! It's a little hole in the wall place but oh so good!

Came for lunch on a weekday. Place is cute and cozy. Decent busy lunch hours. A littld wait for the food. Love me some hot hot soup in this weather. I enjoyed the Bun Bo Hue so much! So flavorful with alot of meat and tendon. I tried hubby's pho too. The broth is a on the sweeter side. The appetizers actually came after the noodle soup but we didn't care..

It's been years since I've been back to Cyclo. We had dinner here today and my family enjoyed the meal. It was a rainy day so we craved for some pho. The service is super fast and the servers are so nice. The steak/brisket pho was so soothing and delicious. They give you so much food that you would likely take home left overs. Ambiance feels like a local mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant. Pricing is cheap too.

I had Pho Dac Biet (All) and Melvin had Bun Cha Hanoi.. the portions are big and we have eaten here before but with the new owner the flavors are much better and taste closer to what I have in Vietnam.

Amazing food as always.I got the Cyclo Special Broken Rice - Cơm Tấm Đặc Biệt. Highly recommend.

Amazing food, I get the broken rice plate. Always go here for Vietnamese food. Service is great as well.

Music is always on pointe and I would never change the look or ambiance of the place either. My last trip here though I had to ask about why the menu had stopped changing as often since we were one of two parties there in the middle of happy hour and there was a large framed picture of a bartender with a bunch of signed notes on the bottom of it beside me at the bar. It turns out that one of the oldest curators and bartenders of the bar and restaurant had passed from a drunk driving incident and I had not known at all! Gosh I was so disappointed in myself that I had ever complained about not having a new menu to try after that...but at the same time it was amazing to hear so many great anecdotes and to learn so much more about him and the history of the bar itself while dining this time. I had a lot of fun times at this bar - including remembering the first time I met that bartender and sharing that memory with the staff that told me their story. They also shared that they would be coming out with a new menu very soon and some of the new items and ideas that would be rolling out so I am also very excited to go back! The hot pot is flavorful, delicious, and fulfilling. I went home with a second meal because the portions are so good. The hotpot was a bit bland and I had to add quite a bit of soy sauce to taste anything as I went with the Szechuan broth. The fishball with roe had a really off putting taste to it either it was old or a different brand used because they are typically quite good. This is the first time where I was unable to eat it due to the flavor and texture. Traditionally hotpot is served with a side of dipping sauce to accommodate with the proteins/veggies. Since there wasn't any, the only option was soy sauce lol... Overall quite bland and pricey for what you get compared to other places. The Thai fried rice was interesting. I wasn't sure what was "Thai" about it because it tasted like a typical fried rice. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It had good flavor compared to the bland hotpot. At the time of my visit it was pretty empty and no one checked on us the entirety of the meal and I had to stand up to try and find a server to check out. Maybe the entryway blocks the view of the servers? Idk. The silverware was also dirty. Asked for a new spoon and there was a small food but stuck on it alongside my plate having some oil on it. I dont see myself coming back here but I do wish them the best. Theres not a lot of asian businesses in East Mesa, especially ones that offer hotpot.
