Life is currently like a roller coaster, up and down! 2020 has definitely been a Cyclone! We need to try a fun roller coaster ride that's a Cyclone like this one in Coney Island! Although I don't ride the roller coaster these days I thoroughly enjoy watching the visitors enjoy their ride. It's fun to see the expression when they're riding and when they get off! I definitely leave if someone barfs! You gotta go for a ride on the Cyclone at least once in your life! Put it on your Post Covid List of things to do. The Cyclone is the Roller Coaster located at Coney Island. A roller coaster is a type of amusement ride that is a form of elevated railroad track designed with tight turns, and steep slopes. People ride along the track in open cars, and the rides are often found in amusement parks and theme parks around the world. LaMarcus Adna Thompson obtained one of the first known patents for a roller coaster design in 1885. June 16, 1884 a year earlier the first roller coaster opened at Coney Island. Most roller coasters have multiple cars in which passengers sit and are restrained. Two or more cars hooked together are called a train. Some roller coasters, such as the Wild Mouse roller coasters, run with single cars. I've have been known to ride on the Wild Mouse also in my youth!

If you wanna ride a piece of history this is where you start.. I am a rollercoaster enthusiast and this is one of the few coasters that actually scared me. The naga Hyde seats, the old school lap bar, and and the reckless abandon that this this wonderous machine moves with is astounding. You really will feel like you need a T-shirt proving that you rode this ride or purchasing your picture with the face of either horror or thrills trapped in time. This is Coney Island.

The Cyclone in all its glory!

The Cyclone is great fun and surprisingly exciting for a wooden coaster. I was expecting an uncomfortable ride but instead got a memorable trip on a true piece of history! First thing I want to point out: the hours on this listing are INCORRECT. This coaster operates by Luna Park hours and is open whenever the park is open and closed whenever the park is closed. Check out the Luna Park website to ensure they will be open during your visit. I have submitted an hour update to Yelp about this, so hopefully they will fix this listing soon. Second thing I want to point out: people get confused about tickets for this. The $10 card you get at the little kiosk right outside the coaster entrance is the SAME CARD you get buying $10 worth of tickets at any other Luna Park ticket booth. So feel free to buy your card either place, it will work for Cyclone and any other Luna Park ride (but NOT the other park, aka the one with the Wonder Wheel, you will need to buy their card for that). My friend and I made sure riding this was our top priority during our recent trip to Coney Island, as it should be for any visitors. Once we figured out how the tickets/cards worked, it was an easy thing to go through the waiting area onto the platform. They only run one car at a time and have a little area for holding your bags and such. While they prefer you move all the way to the end, if you go when it's not busy and wait closer to the turnstile entrance, you can ensure you get to ride in the front seat (which we did). Honestly, the front seat provides a better experience on pretty much every coaster in the world and don't let anyone convince you otherwise. My friend and I loved every second of this wild ride, though the warped-looking lift hill itself was kind of scary-looking. I thoroughly enjoyed the Cyclone and strongly recommend it. $10 is pretty steep but it's worth it simply to support this early forerunner of the modern roller coaster. Overall: 4.5 stars ------------ Pros: - Awesome coaster and extremely fun for being wooden and a century old. - Good system for holding your valuables securely while you ride. - Wait is not long if you go at non-peak times. Cons: - $10 is steep for sure, though this is both NYC and a beach, two places well-known for upcharging the heck out of you for everything. You kind of know what you're getting into from the start.

What a classic rollercoaster! Fun and thrilling! I lost my favorite cap on the ride and I'm not even mad about it. The ride was worth it.

The Coney Island Cyclone is my fav part of Coney Island. It's only $10 to ride now and is the perfect size roller coaster, so it's fun to ride again and again. The line to get on wasn't too long either, and this was on July 4. You can get a snapshot on the ride as it does its first drop. I don't know much more to add except fun, fun fun!!

Cyclone is among the best known roller coasters. It's not the best but it could be the most iconic. This is the centerpiece of Coney Island. It's surrounded by Luna Park, but it's not technically a part of it. That means you won't have to pay admission for the park, just for this. If you are used to new metal roller coasters, you may not think much of it. It's an old wooden coaster with no tricky loops. This is pretty much an old school coaster with some sudden drops, rises, and turns. It's not necessary to pay park admission. This coaster is $10 a ride. It's pretty steep for one ride, but this is a historic part of Brooklyn. The cost surely goes to maintenance. Be prepared for pain after. It slams you all around. The coaster itself isn't scary but it makes sharp turns.

The world first roller coaster made of wood.

If you never rode The Cyclone...you're not a real New Yawka...yeah I said it. The Cyclone was built in 1927, this site was home to the first roller coaster in the United States, the Switchback Railway, constructed in 1884. New York City purchased the land and the famous thrill ride in 1969 for one million dollars. The Cyclone was declared a bonafied New York City landmark on July 12, 1988. As this thing winds, creeks, and squeaks towards the top...your heart is racing and thoughts of "why in the hell am I up here", goes through your mind..as you pummel down the 85 foot drop at 60 mph you swear the rickety outdated car you're in is about to break apart and fly off in the nearby Atlantic ocean...seriously. Today, the Cyclone stands as one of the last remnants of "The Nation's Playground," as Coney Island was known in its heyday. This thing is a landmark. $10.00 for the experience. Hold on tight.

I rode 6 times. amazing. ride in the back car and it's really good. just remember not to stand up because people have died that way, but then than than that the airtime was amazing.

If you would like to experience the two most terrifying minutes of your lifetime, then take a ride on the Cyclone. The Cyclone in Coney Island is considered to be of the best roller coasters in the USA. Today was my first and last time riding the Cyclone. It is old, it is made of wood, and it is very compact. It is thrilling for some, but a nightmare for others. Spend the ten dollars and experience it for yourself. Go on an empty stomach.

The Cyclone is one frightening motherfucker of a coaster. Words don't do it justice. I actually felt like I was going to fly out of my seat. Their name is no joke. Adrenalin junkies, this is your drug. Find the Cyclone at Luna Park.

It's a giant obstacle course, plus a huge trampoline park where they're playing dodgeball, plus a big slippery mountain to climb, a ropes course, go-karts, an arcade, a VR situation, and more. (Incoming rant that makes me sound like an old man: These kids have no idea how great they have it. When I was eight, we had birthday parties in a empty gym and we were lucky if they threw us some balls.) On the other hand, for most adults (at least the ones who don't love screaming children, flashing lights, and other people generally in their personal space), it's entirely too crowded, and an utterly chaotic nightmare. Unsurprisingly, Urban Air is a mecca for Brooklyn birthday parties, which is how we've always come in. However, I'm sure you can just pay for a ticket for your kid (I imagine it's more than you want to spend, but you already live in Brooklyn so you know what it is) if you need to get them moving this winter. The food situation is exactly what you'd expect: bad pizza, popcorn, pretzels, chicken fingers, etc. I think I could forgive them for most transgressions if they only offered alcohol, but I suppose we're here for the children. Just hopefully not that long.

He went above and beyond customer service. Thank you! Also, the place accommodated for our lost time because of the fire drill!
