About a year ago a guy at work was drinking out of a tall boy... which begged the question of what was he drinking at work out of a brewery's can? It was kombucha from Cynosure and I added a mental note that was lost in the shuffle, so what a hit of deja vu when I walked in and saw the cans and the kombucha on tap and it clicked! We got a 32oz of the lemon lime shrub they had on tap and were not disappointed, reminded me of a lime rickey(a Baltimore staple, so some nostalgia there) and they can the growler right in front of you! Super cool detail, and I believe at the cost of 6 bucks not too shabby at all. They are so nice and friendly at Cynosure! We're definitely returning to get our hands on some of that kombucha, trying their ginger beer, and seeing what brews they have on tap.

Beer flight pre covid

YIKES just realized I never reviewed this brewery! Complete oversight on my part. I first visited Cynosure in the spring of 2018 when I had just moved up here before I ever had the honor of Yelp eliteness, and was hellbent on making sure I visited as many breweries as possible. Coming from working at a craft beer bar in the suburbs of Chicago I was so excited for everything that the Anchorage beer scene has to offer, and I'm still to this day always insanely impressed with the Alaska craft beer community. I instantly was excited about Cynosure's menu as they had many of my favorite Beer styles (tripel, saison, quads, dunkel). I sampled a flight, and really liked their tripel. I remember thinking the beer was really delicious, and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I have only visited twice since then, and I must say shame on me. After finishing my crowler of triple this Friday I was reminded that I really like Cynosure's product like it's in my type 5 Anchorage breweries. The brewery is admittedly in a part of town I'm normally not anywhere near, but I definitely need to make it a point to at least stop by for some crowler once in a while! Cynosure is not an Anchorage brewery to miss visiting. They brew a quality product, and have tons of styles to select from. Extra bonus points for a friendly staff who is always excited to talk about all things beer!

Just wanted to shout-out this brewery again, for hanging in there and adapting post-COVID. We went on a Friday night to check out the "Melt' foodtruck. (they were sold out, oh well) The brewery is still run by the same two kind-hearted, friendly, helpful individuals. The beer is starting to get a little more diverse. While Cynosure used to focus almost exclusively on lagers and belgian ales, they have now joined the "haze craze" and offer a hazy IPA called "IPA #005". It uses Simcoe, Citra, and Idaho 7 hops and it is incredible! I'm glad they decided to branch out a bit. The process: go inside with you mask, order your beer, take it outside and drink it. It's got a wonderful vibe. It feels like you're drinking with your neighbors...the good kid of neighbors, not the whiner busy-bodies on Nextdoor. Give 'em a shot!

Black lager and anniversary brew!

Not gonns lie, i didnt know this place existed before. Came due to a yelp promotion. I was surprised to find this joint in a small quiet neighborhood. Super friendly staff who answered all my random questions. Easy ordering to go. Or you can stand outside accompanied by heat lamps. Black lager was nice and smooth and creamy. I would definitely go back again to try a different one too, or just the same.

Stopped in for a Yelp event..first time at Cynosure Brewing! Exciting! I wasn't quite sure what to expect but let's just say..glad I stopped in. The location caught me by surprise, no worries..I love surprises (sometimes)..this was a good one. The parking lot up front was full so I parked around the side of the building because I am guessing that the snow covered all the wonderful lines we take advantage of, that guides us in the correct spot. I was on the go, so I knew I would be quick in and out. As soon as I walked in..the place is so cozy, warm, and fuzzy; all that good stuff that makes lovely thoughts appear in your head..that stuff!! The layout is nice, very open with seats meant for drinking and gathering..I thought the layout was very clever. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. I thoroughly enjoy beer knowledge, it makes the drink taste better..it's taste appreciation at best, basically. This place, staff and beer has my appreciation for sure. The beer that I had the opportunity to indulge in was the Saison..it was hoppy for sure. I really liked it. Next time I am in Anchorage with time to spare, I will stop in and try the flight. This is an amazing place and experience, worth trying!

My husband and I made this our first stop when we arrived in Anchorage. The bartender was super friendly and welcoming and provided excellent service. I had the Aye Yai Yai IPA which I really enjoyed. My husband had the pale ale and the black lager. He liked both. The brewery itself is super cool and has various seating options including some comfy chairs and couches. The brew tanks are out and visible for you to check out. Would have loved to stay longer but we have lots to explore in a short time!

Visited this brewery for the first time during a Yelp Elite Event. It is located on E. Potter Rd next to Alaska Chip Company, almost directly across the condos my spouse and I lived in, as newlyweds. It's a cozy space, with beautiful live plants. When I visited they had a full house. The employees were kind and efficient. I was geeked to see children and glad to know it's okay to bring mine. Belgian/wheat ales, as well as Hefe's are our favorites. The 9% Tripel is elite here. I had one glass and was toasty. I ended up purchasing a growler to-go. I can't wait to return. Thank you Cynosure Brewing.

I met up with a friend at Cynosure - great experience. Very accessible and a great selection of beers. I went with the darkest on tap (a lager) which was great. They also have their 5 anniversary brew out (Vijf) as well. The ambience is great. Off to the right, there are the vats of beer-making goodness and picnic-style tablets where you can sit and feel like you are in the middle of the brew-making experience. Staff are very friendly and will guide you with your beer choice. Easy parking.

Cynosure is one of my favorite breweries and they are doing a wonderful job with takeout !

Congratulations to Cynosure for celebrating 5 years! They've done nothing but get better and better each year. It's so nice to be able to pick up bottles and crowlers to go along with the growler options. This is one of my favorite places in Anchorage!

We're back in town and looking to try out some of the newer microbreweries in Anchorage. Cynosure was recommended by a friend and we slipped away from some family gatherings to see what Cynosure had to offer. Right away we liked how open, airy, and comfortable the taproom looked. The staff were welcoming and super nice. No problems with getting samples of their product. Turns out they make some very tasty ales and Belgian style beers and Cynosure is now on our favorite Alaska Breweries.

This was my first time to come to Cynosure. Business has been running since September of 2016 operated and managed by a husband-wife team Clarke Pelz and Cindy Drinkwater. We came for beer tasting starting off with their Pilsner. The Pilsner is an award winning bear in 2018 with ABV of 5%. It is a lager that reminded me so much of Red Horse-a Philippine beer. We were also served Noe, a Belgian dark strong with ABV the of 8%. I enjoyed it better than the Pilsner or the Grissette which was a little bit too bitter for my taste. They will have sour apricot wit in about 1 to two weeks so look out for that. This event was very educational. Really enjoyed my time here. This is a must go for beer lovers.

One of the best beers I've had so far is A deal with the devil double oaked! This beer is made to enjoy! On the sweet side with a hint of caramel or toffee. A sample since glass is plenty for me! It's never really busy when I stop by so it's usually pretty quiet which makes for great opportunities to talk to staff members. They all are so patient, which is appreciated! They have a way to always suggest the best beer depending on what you are in the mood for. All in all, this brewery is a great place to meet up with friends or family.

Unfortunately, they do not offer beer flights, so Colby created his own half-glass sampler, which did the trick. The brewery itself was pretty neat, with large beer barrels incorporated into the décor, including one that guests can actually sit in. Their beer selection was on the smaller side, but we felt the prices were fair. I ordered the Blind Berry Cider, which had a pleasantly tart flavor, though it leaned toward the extra sour side. We thought this spot was great for Instagram photos and a worthwhile stop if you have some extra time while you're in town. Overall, it was okay. I do wish we had known about the outdoor seating options beforehand, as we found the indoor seating area to be somewhat limited. The glassware was pretty cool as well, with several different sizes available. The bathrooms were clean, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We would definitely return if we find ourselves back in town again.

Midnight Sun is tucked away and a bit off the beaten path and is literally just among warehouses. I love me a veggie and pesto sandwich, but mine needed balsamic or something to make it taste less dry. I also thing it being "panini style" on focaccia bread is a mistake because the bread was crumbly and I wonder if they have it on focaccia to differentiate it from the other sandwiches *shrug* My wife loved her pork sandwich the "Sweet Cheeks". If we're ever back in alaska, we'll return. How has this place been around 30 years? One of their anniversary brews said that. Craft beer was a thing in Alaska in the 90s?

Enough to keep seeking new ones out but even then that wouldn't last too terribly long and especially if I lived there. Midnight Sun Brewing is one of the Alaskan ones I tried a while back and I felt that the beer I had was very solid and enjoyable. In fact Alaska in general thus far I have enjoyed the breweries there considerably. The beer I had from this brewery was the Panty Peeler which is a Belgian Tripel. A good beer for sure and is a good pairing with fish and chips or a burger. Flavor highlights with this beer are sweet, strong and fruity but all in a well balanced way. The beer goes down smooth and is light bodied. A good beer to start for me with this brewery. I'd loved to try more of their beer options. Love the brewery's swag and have a t-shirt or two and would love to score a hoodie that I had my eye on but it was out of stock so I'll try back later.

This brewery blocked me on Instagram…read more Before I headed there last night for a dear friend's birthday and I wanted to check to see if there would be a foodtruck. They kept not coming up in the IG search results...weird. I initially was worried they went out of business because it said their IG page was down. I warned the birthday girl that maybe that had suddenly closed and joked "unless I'm blocked, lol" to which she replied "they blocked you!" So weird and so sad. Never in my 267 brewery reviews on Yelp has a brewery blocked me from their IG. (that I know of, lol) My only interactions with them on IG are to re-share their reels so my friends know what beers they have on tap or what food truck is out front. I guess if I had to guess it would be that my 3-star review about their being the only brewery in Anchorage that doesn't allow you to taste their beer first must've struck such a nerve that they researched to find what IG account is connected to my Yelp account, and then blocked me. Really disappointing, I always thought the owner/brewer seemed cool but I guess he has thin skin. Their Anchorage-style Pilsner is still one of the best beers in town, hopefully I'll get a pint tonight. Last night I had a west coast IPA and a Cold IPA. Both were good. The fact that you have 3 different IPAs on tap combined with a 3 drink limit by the state of Alaska...really speaks to why tastes are helpful. Still the worst name of any brewery. It sounds like a Temu beer kit that makes murky booze your friends pretend to like.

I can't say enough good things about the brewery…read more I absolutely love their beers. The owner does a really good job creating local ingredients. And working with the community. I have absolutely enjoyed every time. I have come in and love getting their sour starter pack of bottles. It's a great variety of what they have to offer with some of their greats! The high bush cranberry that they have currently is just fantastic. I know that they just came out with a white stout which they do every year and it's delicious. I haven't had this year but I can tell you from years previously it's one of the best beers of the winter. The place is clean and well kept with a beautiful sitting area upstairs and some fantastic chairs downstairs great place to come sit hang out and enjoy yourself. Did you get food trucks from time to time. Honestly, just talking with the owner makes me so happy and going to any of the events that they have to offer is such a learning experience.
