This place has the opposite problem that 49th State has: Pretty good food and bad beer. The beer here is very, very bad. It is some of the worst beer in the state. I had a hazy IPA here during Fur Rondy and it tasted candy-sweet, oxidized, and had a chemically-bite to it. It is one of the worst beers I've ever had. I remember liking this place for dinner- this was our first lunch time experience. The menu is a bit limited at lunch so we went for the salads. My husband got the shrimp one and I got the one with the grilled chicken. The grilled chicken one is delicious. My husband loved his shrimp one, but holy hell is it small. We always have an amazing time, and this time they showed out yet again. I usually get a steak but this time I got the pasta. So good! I'm always relaxed because they take care of you and you never have to ask twice for anything. I'm sad they had stopped the bread, oil and vinegar but hey things change. Glacier BrewHouse was recommended by my concierge for seafood and ambiance. I suggest making reservations ahead of time since this is a popular restaurant. Wait times during my visit without a reservation was an hour on a week night. I really liked my server because she gave honest recommendations as to trying to sell the most expensive entrees. I got the seafood fettuccine. The sauce was was rich and creamy. The dish was filling with the salmon, scallops, and cod. I was going to get the chowder, but my server suggested not to since my dish was similar to the chowder......additional dollars added to her tip. We remember Glacier Brewhouse and what it used to be.... The 1-star rating is only because we were timely seated based on our reservation. Our waitress, while courteous & pleasant, had way too many tables and we did not see her after ordering, until it was time to pay. The garlic shrimp starter was atrocious. A couple of little chewy shrimp drowned in a thick sauce with chunks of artichoke and bread cubes, very disappointing. The ribs used to be one of our favorite entrees, wow, 6 very tiny ribs, severely overcooked, very dry flavorless meat with a glob of bbq sauce on top. The side of grilled potatoes were good, Brussel sprouts were overcooked, dry, and flavorless as well. Fish & chips, a sure staple, however not this time. The three good size pieces of fish turned out to be three small cubes covered by thick soggy breading that sloughed off upon contact. The fries were crispy as requested and they were unable to bring the requested mayo for dipping. No one even asked why we didn't eat our food, or if we wanted to go boxes. No one seemed to care. We really wanted to enjoy our dining experience however we will never come back. So utterly disappointed. We will make sure to direct family, friends, or visitors away from the Glacier Brewhouse and suggest better alternative restaurants for a great dining experience. read more

This place was PACKED! But I think it's a local place for when all the cruise passengers come in to start their journeys in Alaska. The staff was very pleasant but the crowd was a lot. The vegan sausage was slightly salty, but still tasted really good overall. The jalapeño cornbread is absolutely to die for -- easily one of the best items on the menu. The jambalaya pasta was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The Caesar salad with grilled shrimp was also really good, with fresh ingredients and well-seasoned shrimp. We had our work Christmas party here with about 10 of us. They placed us in a small room that was perfect for the size of our party. The waiter was fast and efficient with drink and food orders. Our group had a few appetizers - The Tower, the wings, pretzels with cheese. My favorite was the shrimp in the tower. The wings were a bit small and crunchy for my liking. For my entree I had the stuffed halibut and it was really good. Sometimes halibut can be dry and dense, this was perfect. It was actually larger than I could eat in one sitting, so I did have leftovers to take home. Needless to say I did not get to desert. Boss was happy to see the price for their king crab was lower than several others, with an extra 1/4 lb offered to boot! He also had a generous serving of garlic parm potatoes and fresh green beans, which went home as leftovers! The gals had seafood fettuccine- which included salmon, halibut, shrimp, scallops, mushrooms, and spinach. Nice and rich, with al dente pasta. Yum! Dessert- we didn't go for the famous peanut butter option as the s'mores dish included ice cream;)! I had the mango sorbet which tasted like a fresh, sweet and tangy mango! The sodas are refillable, but you'll be too full to have more than one refill. I have tried very, very hard to find restaurant I enjoy as much as Glacier BrewHouse. Have I had any luck? NO. Even my husband agrees this is hands down one of the best meals we've had at a restaurant. Let's start with the drinks. House-brewed root beer and cream soda? Get that. My husband couldn't decide which one he wanted so our waiter brought him a little shot glass of both to help make a decision. Here's a fun fact: he ordered both. If you're feeling boozy, the bartender pours one heck of a lemon drop martini. I may have had three of them. I truly don't remember. LOL. I can tell you that I without a doubt had at least two. After the second, I specifically remember our very sweet waiter bringing me a glass of water and telling me to hydrate before I went home. I obviously had a designated driver so it made me chuckle. My husband and I still laugh about it every so often. Before we ordered our meal, our waiter also specifically asked if we had any allergies. I'm kind of bummed I don't remember his name (blame the martinis). Since they have a somewhat extensive menu, it was very thoughtful. In anticipation of our trip to Alaska, I swore I would find myself King Crab legs somewhere. And, alas, Glacier BrewHouse satisfied the craving. The crab meat was so yummy. Very sweet and flavorful. I also asked for jasmine rice instead of the potatoes it normally comes with. My Asian ancestors would be proud. My husband ordered the ribeye and basically finished it before I could open my third crab leg. Didn't even offer me a bite...that's how you know it was good! I may have snagged a piece while he was mid-sip of his root beer. I can confirm it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The bread pudding was a great choice to wrap up our dinner. We left full of delicious eats all around. The only cons are (1) you have to be prepared to walk a bit. Street parking is hard to find and once you settle on a lot, you can expect to pay upwards of $15 in parking fees before dinner. (2) You're not getting in without a reservation. Well, maybe you could, but you'll likely be waiting awhile. I made our reservation weeks in advance. Other than that, we had a great dinner in a very lively atmosphere.
