Hey there friends! We had an amazing dinner at the Glacier Brew house. Before I start, I will say that it didn't start off on the right foot due to some issues with the people at the front reception. Besides this, everything else was great so I did not deduct any stars. Let me explain. We were a party of 4 and just arriving from NY, we were hungry. We walked in at about 4:30-4:45. We asked for a table for 4. We were told the wait will be over an hour. They asked if we would like to sit at the bar area, same food and probably would get service quicker. I said sure. We both want to look for a table and there were none, so I just told the staff that we will go to the bar area and wait while having a drink. We were given a buzzer. We came across a Maria bar table with a nice couple sitting there, and 2 open seats. I asked if we could sit there and they said of course. They then Deb moved over 2 seats arguing gave us 4 seats. I was do thankful for them being so nice that I picked up their bar tab. I noticed that the dining area has at least 5 open tables for 4 and 1 for 6+. I went up to the desk and told them this. I was told they were fit reservations and I couldn't have a table. Long story short, 45 min went guy and there were still open tables, I E's not happy and let them know. By this time though, our waiter Marco cans over to us and said he would take care of us, which he did. I told the front desk to forget our table and have them the buzzer back. ** My review starts*** Marco was a great waiter taking excellent care of us. We had a great time with Marco and our new friends next to us. I ordered the halibut stuffed with crab which was outstanding. My wife ordered the salmon which was delicious as well, I particularly enjoyed the crispy skin of the salmon, yum!!! Our friends ordered the fried calamari which he enjoyed and his wife had the salmon over a Ceaser salad. To finish it off, I had to get the lava cake for dessert.....hey, why not, I'm in vacation lol! Everything was great, the food delicious, Super Marco s the best!!! Great service and a great time. Just a shame it didn't start off on the right foot. Lesson: make a reservation!!!!! read more

I agree with another reviewer that during tourist season, this is where the cruise ships dump all of their passengers, so it felt more like an attraction than a local place we would have liked to have found. That said, the food was good. We got the Halibut and shared a dessert and it was great for what we wanted and close to where we were staying so easy to get to. The ambiance is a log cabin, so you feel like you're in the middle of Alaska, even though you're in the largest city. All in all, I would try somewhere else the next trip! read more

Went for dinner here after reading the reviews. It's very non-descript from the outside but inside it's a big pub scene and was very full the day we went. We got a table right away and the server, Scotty, was very friendly. My dad and I got the chili lime shrimp salad and my mom ordered the fish and chips. Both were good but not great. Mom said the coleslaw had no flavor to it. The shrimp were plentiful, but it seemed as if they just poured on chili sweet-and-sour sauce as the dressing. It was too sweet. My dad enjoyed it! For dessert, we ordered the bread pudding and it was excellent. Our server Scotty brought out a generous bowl of ice cream to go with it when we requested it. Great combo and big portion. Overall very good dinner and great service, with room for improvement on the salad dressing and Cole slaw. We'd try it again next time we're in Anchorage. read more

The place looks great. Looks like a tavern, the service was amazing, and the food was downright some of the best I've had. Make sure to have stuff with fish. It's the freshest up here, aside from Hawaii. This is the second best fish market area. And they have a ton of selection of great tasting brews. This was a 3.5 stars experience, rounded down because it started off so unnecessarily poorly. We got into town a little past supper time; our driver recommended this place when we said we wanted good seafood. We walked in, close to 8:30, and asked for a table. The hostess said it's an hour wait, and upon our reaction of incredulity, amended it to "maybe 45 minutes". We looked around - it was full alright, but there were people leaving, and the possibility of phantom reservations notwithstanding, how could it possibly be a 45-minute wait? She then says, perhaps there's seating at the bar. Thankfully, there are long high tops next to the bar (which we confirmed were "bar seating") that were unoccupied. So we seated ourselves and waited quite a while for someone to come around. While waiting, we saw yet another table leave right in front of our eyes. So, when our waiter finally appeared, we asked if we could occupy more comfortable seating given our old, tired, bones. He said, sure - just let me wipe it down for you. And so, during our dinner, 3 other tables around us became available, and that's just in OUR corner in a vast dining room. All this to say: why on earth would that hostess tell us it would be an hour wait? Is she really that intent on turning customers away? It is really peculiar, something I've never before encountered. So, is it fair to ding them that hard, when the supper itself was probably a 4-star experience? You be the judge of that. Prices in Alaska are always elevated. I mean, you'd think that with halibut floating all around them, you'd get a break in price? Nope, around $50 for the main course, average. I ordered the blackened rock fish, which was a bit more reasonably priced ($29.95, because rock fish, for no reason I can see, (it's a delicious fish) is often dirt cheap. My wife had the seafood fettucine for $33,95. Both were adequately prepared, except that the rock fish, while spicy, had no salt on it whatsoever. A glass of Mohua at $11 and a pint of hazy IPA at $7.95 are not egregiously out of line. We tried not to let the earlier encounter distress us too much, and made an evening out of it. read more

Convenient location and walking distance to hotel that we stayed at. Lots of seating options and cozy vibes here. Immediately greeted by super nice hostess. They sat our large party in two groups. Very accommodating considering the size of our group. Service was great. Attentive and friendly. Also very patient. Got a couple cocktails and they were tasty. Also grabbed a couple local beers that were okay. Ordered the chowder and calamari. Calamari wasn't normal shaped. Very large and meaty. Also got the Brussels, very good. The same outstanding food and great service as I remembered. I was treating my family to a meal as I've had a hectic week, and decided on the Brewhouse, this was a take out order however the quality was still there as I arrived home. The Ahi Tuna was amazing, nice and peppery on the outside and the center just melted in my mouth, the kimchi slaw on the side was spicy and highlighted the dish,the bbq ribs were great also. These are the real slow cooked grits not the out of a box quickie grits. Shrimp, slivers of andouille, and an egg (it says with bacon but I did not notice any). Marvelous flavors. Will do again. Carolyn had the brick oven tomato and mozzarella cheese pizza and love it. The bar had a little trouble with my drink, a Rusty Nail, but in they got it right Food is good and well prepared. Service can be a bit slow but then it was very busy. Lots of staff just busy. Great rustic interior with wood beams and open floor plan. Booths on the left for the restaurant (Reservations highly suggested). Bar and seating on the right with tables and some small booths. Super easy to make an online reservation for a larger party. Our server was wonderful and food came out pretty quickly. The shrimp appetizer was nothing special but the Brussels are on point with crispy bacon, and sweet jam it's a delicious starter. I had the Mediterranean sandwich with the catch of the day, it was very tasty and fresh. The fish and chips were good but we had better on our Alaska travels. The chowder with bread looked so tasty. We are in Anchorage for one night before heading back home to the northeast. A friend recommended this restaurant so we joined them for dinner. Our table started off with the brussel sprouts appetizer which was PHENOMENAL. I ordered the 2025 stout for a beer and it was very tasty. For our mains the entire table got halibut fish and chips and my son opted for the ranch pizza. The pizza was really good. The only downfall is the dish was overcooked but overall still very tasty. Our server was great and attentive. It seems to be one of the best restaurants in the area to dine. It's VERY busy so I do recommend a reservation. It has a cool brewhouse vibe to it. This place has the opposite problem that 49th State has: Pretty good food and bad beer. The beer here is very, very bad. It is some of the worst beer in the state. I had a hazy IPA here during Fur Rondy and it tasted candy-sweet, oxidized, and had a chemically-bite to it. It is one of the worst beers I've ever had. It tasted old and stale when it should've tasted bright and fresh. I do not know how they can serve it to folks with a straight face, it's that bad. read more

I remember liking this place for dinner- this was our first lunch time experience. The menu is a bit limited at lunch so we went for the salads. My husband got the shrimp one and I got the one with the grilled chicken. The grilled chicken one is delicious. My husband loved his shrimp one, but holy hell is it small. Way too small for a full grown man, even one who is a type 2DM. My biggest beef was with my drink. It. Was. Atrocious. Sink water atrocious, undrinkable, and missing key elements, horrible. Do. Not. The atmosphere was really nice. The brewery is a little hidden but really cozy inside. As a solo traveler the bar is usually the place to go. Average wait time is 30 mins for a group. Everything was priced relative well. Not too expensive and not super cheap either. The bacon caramelized onion Brussel sprouts were so delicious. Straight 10/10, I would absolutely recommend. The steak was average so so. Vegetables of course do get a cold as you eat. Mashed potatoes were delicious but also average. The glacier spiked lemonade was okay. I'm always relaxed because they take care of you and you never have to ask twice for anything. I'm sad they had stopped the bread, oil and vinegar but hey things change. I do recommend if you have a few people see if you can reserve the private room. You can play your own music, can sing if you want too... I do we do. Wait times during my visit without a reservation was an hour on a week night. I really liked my server because she gave honest recommendations as to trying to sell the most expensive entrees. I got the seafood fettuccine. The sauce was was rich and creamy. The dish was filling with the salmon, scallops, and cod. I was going to get the chowder, but my server suggested not to since my dish was similar to the chowder......additional dollars added to her tip. While the menu states Gluten Free on many dishes the cross contamination is real. My 9 year old granddaughter has celiac and we quizzed the staff about their process, receiving the correct answers she still got sick. She ordered the fish tacos with halibut. We were still there when she did so used their restroom. Not a pretty sight and had to get someone to clean up which turned out to be the manager. She was not very polite or considerate to my daughter and granddaughter. The place is a typical brewhouse atmosphere and my lunch was fine.
