i can neither recommend nor disapprove this provider as she will be the right provider for 90% of the patients who have not advanced testing like CPET. she may appear rude but she was helpful but she did take back the rx she sent to my pharmacy after i switched provider because she told me to! I found a great cardiologist who's expert in POTs at lifemd.com She tells everyone to drink more water but you should ask for a urine sodium check. if the urine sodium is low, you may also need little amounts of sodium and electrolytes to feel better with POTS. read more

I had been a patient of Cynthia Thaik for several years. At a certain point, I developed PVC's at first they were minor. However, after some very stressful events in life my PVCs started to rapidly rise. Overall I would say outside of dealing with PVCs Dr. Thaik was through in testing and monitoring and providing options like nutrition as a means of addressing heart health. However, once my PVCs started to rise she wanted to immediately put me on medication. I was concerned of course but also wanted to understand the root cause. Why was I suddenly experiencing these PVCs. Rather than having other means to investigate she wanted me to start medication. When I asked if we could address other factors to find the root cause she became upset and even recorded a statement to dictate and record that I was not willing to start the medication right away. Needless to say that is when I stop going here. And also, happy to say that I'm proud for trusting my gut and getting several opinions. Which eventually lead me to less than 2% PVCs without out taking one pill or any procedure. It took a Dr. the was willing to observe me while I worked on addressing several potential root causes. I was bummed because before the PVCs w/o any issues she was a good Dr. Who offered meditation, nutrition and testing as options. Not a bad experience during the visit but the dr saw two other patients who arrived after me and stepped away during visit

First, I'd like to say that Dr. Thaik's staff is exceptional. Jenette is super efficient, knowledgeable, and a delight to work with. The nutritionist Annie is also incredible and has a wide range of knowledge. Dr. Thaik herself is intelligent and experienced. Unfortunately, she is also rude and quick to fly off the handle. I needed a pre-op approval from her and requested it at least five days prior to my surgery. When her new office staff scheduled a telehealth appointment, I asked them to please have the doctor review the cardiology results from a recent unexpected hospital visit, as her own test results were from five months earlier. I thought this would be helpful. Knowing that Dr. Thaik can be curt, I made sure I was ready early and in a quiet space. But 80 minutes after our scheduled time, I still hadn't heard from her, so I called the office and explained that I really needed to have the appointment that day, as my surgery was scheduled for the next morning and required her approval. Five and a half hours later, I received a missed call from her office--with no voicemail. That evening, I left a polite message (considering I now had to postpone my surgery because of this). The next morning, Dr. Thaik called me..immediately confrontation me asking, "Why didn't you have the other cardiologist you went to do your pre-op approval?" I explained that I hadn't seen another cardiologist; the hospital had run a number of cardiological tests during my ER visit. She acted like I'd betrayed her by seeing another doctor. She then blamed her new employee for double booking and aggressively told me the appointment shouldn't have been scheduled as telehealth. But how was I supposed to know that, if her staff didn't? I calmly responded, "I've been mentally and physically preparing for this surgery for two weeks--it was supposed to be today." Her response was rude, and she hung up on me. I have never been spoken to like that by a medical professional. I was shocked and very upset. My son was recently diagnosed with EDS and POTS. Dr. Thaik was recommended as someone who is good a treating POTS. I also liked that she is a naturopath. Sadly, my son's experience was very disappointing. Dr. Thaik did not listen to my son well and basically told him to drink more water and lose weight. Since his POTS is likely caused by his EDS, this was very unhelpful. He will not be seeing Dr. Thaik again. read more

I had my first appt with Dr. Thaik and wanted to weigh in since the reviews had me worried before my visit. I was diagnosed with POTS pre-Covid at Johns Hopkins. She was extremely responsive and I got an appointment within a week of contacting them. I came to her to establish care since Hopkins is far away and overloaded with Long Covid patients. I did not find her to be curt or rude at all, I found her willing to listen and also have hard conversations about how realistic relief of POTS will be (and how we have to take ownership of the life we want to live despite our symptoms). I'm a very self-motivated and driven person and work in executive management in clinical trials so I know medicine can work wonders. I also know it is important to weigh the risks vs benefits and from my appt, it became clear that midodrine is currently a greater risk (as my blood pressure is now far too high) compared to the benefit I get for POTS symptoms. My hypertension could actually be the cause of many of the symptoms I attribute to a POTS flare right now and puts me at greater risk for serious diseases (heart disease, early dementia, stroke). As she noted, there is no impact on mortality from POTS but there is with those other conditions. While I don't have an answer to what is causing my extreme fatigue, dizziness, and brain fog I have a couple more weeks of FMLA to get to the bottom of what is causing the symptoms that are preventing me from working at full capacity. I am anxious to get back to work and I plan to complete the tests she recommended because I trust her judgment and advice. I also did not find her condescending. She was very clear in her explanations and I learned a few things (ie. why she does not agree with the IV volume expansion treatment that many of us like for quick relief). If you are seeing Dr. Thaik with a realistic understanding of POTS and a willingness to hear honest input, I think you will find her great. If you expect someone to coddle you and prescribe a bunch of medications under the claim that you'll be fully cured, you will be disappointed (but that is not a realistic expectation to begin with). read more

Dr Thaik is the only doctor who has ever put me on the right path for improvement of my health issues. I would probably still be confused as to what was wrong with me if it weren't for her. I am grateful because while I am not fully better (from a me/cfs nervous system type issue) I can do way more things than I could at the beginning of my health crash. You'll know quickly if Dr. Thaik is the right fit for you. I overheard an entire appointment before mine, and I was really impressed by the exchange and empathy she gave to the patient. She asked lots of questions and was very engaged. (Less impressed that I could hear someone else's appointment, I'll admit.) Then came my appointment. This was my second visit. I had gotten results from several tests she had ordered. She started going over some results, but also discussed results from some older tests--I was bit confused, but she is very confident and spoke without letting me interrupt. (At this point, she also started IMing with someone on the computer while continuing our appointment.) From the tests she was reviewing, and based on one question about the timing of my symptoms, she definitively stated what was causing my issues: insulin. I mentioned that was odd as my extensive blood work showed no insulin issues at all. "You have bloodwork?" was her response. This was rather surprising as she had ordered it. Then she looked at the bloodwork, and decided on a different explanation for my issues. Then she read further, and suggested something else. I interrupted at this point to mention that our last visit had been quite hectic and rushed because she was in a temporary space, and she said, "I'm always rushed." It was at this point I knew I wouldn't be returning. She mentioned she was late for her next appointment more than once. We met for about 10 minutes, so I don't think I was the hold up. She also left the room to deal with something in the middle of the appointment. Her eventual suggestion was to meet with a coach to help with HRV. That woman keeps following up in a way that makes me uncomfortable--feels more like strong-arm sales than treatment. I'm definitely disappointed. My cardiologist recommended Dr. Thaik because he hadn't found any dire issues but he thought she might be able to give me some new insight. She did not. I'm grateful for the tests and vitamin advice (she did follow up with that as promised), but I thought I was coming to someone who would have better bedside manner and more empathy than my regular cardiologist. That was very much not the case. YMMV. I could see her interacting with other people with whom she clearly had a good rapport. It was just not the right fit for me. Reading her responses to the reviews is helpful--they're a very good indicator of what she's like. (One last thing: her office staff are very nice, but they did almost perform the wrong test on me because they assumed I was someone else when they just asked for my first name, which is VERY common. She gave me negligent advice without even knowing and understanding my symptoms or medical history. Said my body was cooking like daisies in the hot sun. Glad I was able to visit with Dr Thaik today. My first visit here and the staff and doctor have been wonderful. Ginette helped me check in. She's got a wonderful attitude and was so patient with me. She performed the EKG and ICG on me. Was a pleasure to work with. Dr Thaik - she really gets down to the point. Heart issues are to be taken very seriously. She asked me a ton of questions that she quickly typed up during the interview. We have a game plan in action as my blood pressure has been higher than usual the past 4 months. I'm really happy I found her and look forward to getting healthier with her advise and direction. Monica is on staff and she was able to go over a food regimen program with me. Unfortunately it's not covered by insurance but totally should be. It's a great program that I may consider in the near future. I seldom write reviews, but I feel this one is important. Some of the negative reviews I read before my initial visit with Dr. Thaik were over the top, but I'm smart enough to know--based on experience--that you cannot always trust reviews, good "or" bad; so, I ignored them. I'm glad I did! Dr. Thaik is warm, friendly, professional and engaging. She's a straight shooter which is how I want a doctor to be. Apparently, some people think a Harvard educated medical professional should tell their patients what "they" want to hear because their egos are easily bruised and they can't handle being told they need to make lifestyle changes to get healthy. But that does not serve the patient well health-wise. Dr. Thaik is a no-nonsense doctor who gets to the bottom of your symptoms to better treat your condition. It's easy to merely prescribe medications which do not necessarily treat the root of an illness but instead masks it without trying to work on eliminating it, lessening its effects or preventing further complications. Her office is non-assuming--not Beverly Hills luxe to show off her Harvard degree, which some people think represents a physician's stature or puts them in the top-tier elite of their profession. I went to Dr. Thaik because I was tired of pat answers with no remedy, which is what I find nowadays from the AMA, unfortunately--like right out of Stepford, all marching to the same robotic protocol, with no originality, no creativity and little interest to think outside the box, controlled by big Pharma or insurance companies telling doctors "how" to practice, which basically makes a medical degree from the top medical universities useless. If you want a different--better--approach to medicine and want to feel better naturally or at least want a doctor who will take the time and effort to pinpoint what is behind your condition, diagnose, and determine the best and healthiest way to treat it, then make an appointment with Dr. Thaik and keep an open mind. Having been expecting a "holistic" female doctor, I was very disappointed to find that Dr. Thaik was very impersonal, barely looked at me, was too busy with her AI Scribe to take ME into consideration, took my blood pressure and then did not tell me what it was, said twice something about me going to ER for the swelling in my ankles, when I clearly said I had gone to an urgent care. She suggested that I should have an ultrasound that day, then she would arrange for an EKG and something with an acronym I.., but that my insurance didn't cover that and that it would be $50. When I told her that I couldn't pay that, she actually said sarcastically "of course not". She also said I could either wait for the ultrasound tech that day or come back next week. Then after I responded that I needed to get a bite to eat and come back, she started ranting about how the tech could not wait and if I chose not to have it done today, I would have to wait a month. The most unprofessional and worse, upsetting experience with a doctor when you have been told you may have congestive heart failure. I left and will now be looking for another cardiologist. Her office is very hard to find and the forms to fill out have one address while the website has another. When I called the office to find out which was which, I got a recording stating that the voicemail had not been set up yet. I left feeling angry that I had wasted my time rather than finding another doctor who might treat me like a human being. She even asked me why I am so tired when it is a common symptom of congestive heart failure. It is interesting that the reviews on here are either very negative or very positive. To me, she is someone I hope to never see again. To refer to her as curt which another reviewer did is a big understatement. Lastly, one of her staff interrupted our visit to inform her of something and she started talking about how one man had been there for an hour. Not my business or concern. She may be a Harvard graduate but she is lacking human empathy IMHO. read more

We had the worst experience here. First, she is definitely NOT wholistic. We were in the waiting room for over 45 minutes past our appointment time (sitting alongside other irritated people who were also waiting way past their appointment). We get in to the room and two quick tests were taken and Cynthia comes in and immediately starts talking about blood pressure medication and how my husband would need to be on 4 pills to get his blood pressure under control even at his young age. We were advised that he should not work out, not be working, and then not told about any other ways to help. She said to just take the medication and come back in a month to see how it's going. She did not explain what the pills were or what they would do or any side effects even though we specifically were asking. She was very dismissive of any of our concerns and questions. She explained that he would feel terrible because having high blood pressure feels "like speed" and coming down to low pressure would feel awful for a while and he had to just deal with it. We obviously did not go that route and take any pills, but started taking natural supplements, diet changes and exercise changes that I had found online myself and that has lowered his blood pressure in just a few weeks. To top it off, this week we received a random large bill when she told us that it was going to just be a $15 copay ONLY prior to our appointment. The details of the bill are not even given.. this is definitely a scam and taking advantage of people who are nervous about their health and trying to heal. I highly recommend for anyone considering visiting this office to go literally anywhere else. In response: I still am not sure what side effects/symptoms would've happened had we taken the medication (not even sure the name of what he was going to be prescribed, because that was not discussed). Feeling awful is not a specific side effect. We were not trying to get disability, we were trying to get his blood pressure lowered (which we did on our own, thank God). I had been experiencing hypertension that was seemingly non-responsive to the meds my general practitioner had prescribed. I felt it was important to go to a cardiologist so that I could prevent the issue from progressing. I wanted someone who was bright, caring and could 'think out of the box' - not just the usual protocols, but an informed approach to what was going on with ME. Someone who would look at the issue holistically, not just the typical pharmaceutical approach of Western medicine. I did some research and found Dr. Thaik. I didn't have to wait too long to get an appointment. At the appointment, Dr. Thaik was thoughtful, caring and took a good look at what was going on with me and my concerns. She was thorough and worked toward addressing the hypertension quickly in a meaningful way . . . not just letting me continue and 'see how it goes' with minor adjustments. I have just started to work with Dr. Thaik on correcting my hypertension, but I feel well cared for, and that I have made the right choice. I look forward to working on my health journey with her. I was really hoping to have a good experience with this provider. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I had made the appointment over a month ago and was looking forward to meeting a provider with experience with POTS and promoting a more holistic approach to care. On the day of our consultation, which was to consist of a phone call vs. remote video visit, she was 25 minutes late for our visit. As a healthcare provider myself, I completely understand that situations happen, and you may run late for a visit. However, when she called she told me I was supposed to fill out forms prior to our visit. I explained to the provider, I had not received the forms. Instead of just going through review of systems during our visit, she asked if I could fill out the forms and she would see her next patient. I agreed, and tried to quickly fill out the forms, but my scanner was not working so I took pictures and attached them to an email. She calls back approx 30 minutes later and states she received some of them, but not all. Then I had to ask, why was i not informed by her staff a day prior to our visit about completing the forms, to which she did agree should have happened. She stated I would eventually need to have the forms scanned to her portal. I agreed, and then inquired again about communication with her staff, to which she stated let's move on from discussing the inadequacies of my staff and move forward with the consult. I was a little surprised by her manner/response, but still tried to move forward. Then she stated that she did not receive all the forms, to which I replied that my email account showed they were sent, and she rudely stated " I am telling you I don't have it", and then apologized for seeming frustrated. At that moment, I knew this provider was not what I was looking for, so I told her that I did not want to proceed with the visit, and felt we were not a good fit. I understand that working in healthcare, providers are overworked/stressed and can be jaded, however, there is no excuse to conduct business and interact with new patients like this. I had read her reviews and saw that some patients did mention her demeanor was abrupt and discourteous, and that she lacked compassion. From my experience, I completely agree. Her demeanor does not coincide with her clinic's "Holistic" title. I wish there were more providers in California who specialized in POTS. read more

I wish I had found this practice 30 years ago... I have been wrestling with health issues most of my life. Mst Doctors shrug their shoulders and throw pills at me and tell me to "see if it helps". Dr. Thaik is the antithesis of these practices. She is a WHOLE BODY wellness practitioner and her entire practice embodies the ideas of western medicine meets eastern medicine and holistic healing and mind/body integration. She is as good as it gets with professional manner, depth of knowledge, and true caring for her patients. She treats my cardiac issues personally, caringly, and with tremendous acumen. Dr. Rush, who oversees my IV infusions practices naturopathy connecting the wisdom of the ages with modern-day advances in wellness to keep me feeling and looking (I've lost of 10 pounds since taking her nutritional advice and diet along with starting these treatments) SPECTACULAR! Currently I am on a regimen of The Meyers Cocktail with NAD+ for optimal cell regenerative properties and healing. It also keeps me invigorated by giving my body the nutrients it needs directly without the digestive enzymes breaking them down and wasting them. Having these infusions has been the most amazing health experience I have EVER had! Doddie, the Nurse Practitioner takes her time and truly cares about the care you are getting. She is a part of my Whole Wellness Team that is complimentary, but also checks each aspect of my care from lab work to imaging and everything else. I've taken some time since my past couple of visits to really assess what left me feeling uneasy about my visits with Dr Thaik. I am not one to react immediately and give a 1 star review out of frustration. I have SVT, and have had it for 17 years. Until this point, my SVT has been manageable. However, after a recent attack that lasted longer than usual and I experienced new symptoms (dizzy, chest pain, feeling like passing out), I decided it was time to see Dr Thaik. Her bedside manner is mediocre at best. At my visits, I didn't really feel as though I was "listened to," but rather, dismissed because of my age and healthy appearance. For each follow-up appointment after my initial consultation, she had to ask me why I was being seen. I get it - clinics can be busy. However, most doctors should have readily access to their EMR and can look this up before seeing their patient. Not a big deal, but it just feels impersonal. I received a stress test, US, and Endopat. I also purchased the Kardia device that Dr Thaik recommended (which is actually worth the investment), I also followed Dr Thaiks advice and purchased the supplements she recommended and visited with her very kind and personable nutritionist. After 2 months of following this nutrition protocol, I still had SVT episodes that were uncomfortable, and visited Dr Thaik a final time (as I was able to record it on my Kardia device). This last visit left a poor taste in my mouth. She looked at my first SVT attack recording and claimed "yep, it's SVT." Well...captain obvious, we already knew that. I also proceeded to show her a different reading that was not SVT, but another arrhythmia that concerned me. I handed her the reading and without even a glance, she claimed "That is uninteresting to me." I immediately felt dismissed. A USC intern was also with her that day in the room, and I felt stupid when she said that. I admit I was frustrated with her response and exclaimed rather salt-ily "other than being uninteresting, is there anything that I should be concerned about?" I had questions - like - is 235 a dangerous heart rate if my attack is prolonged? What steps can I take to limit future attacks? Medications/procedure recommendations? We talked briefly about my history taking atenolol and that it didn't work for me. I asked her about the ablation, and she proceeded to compare her perception of what seemed to be a hierarchy on who deserves to get one and who does not. Verbatim, she compared a pilot to a house wife...and which of the two should be getting an ablation first. Which was I - and does that correlate to her assumption of how I should continue with my treatment plan? I felt unheard. I have since gotten a second opinion with another cardiologist, who heard me. He referred me to an EP. I saw an additional EP for a second opinion to validate whether this was the right decision for my health. Both of which advised me that my SVT attack recordings are very high and recommended getting an ablation. I am scheduled for my ablation at the end of January. I gave a 3 star review, as Dr Thaik's front office staff are very welcoming and friendly, and her nutritionist is fabulous. As a patient advocate, I felt my experience is an opportunity to educate the general public on the importance of second opinions. You should always be an advocate of your own health. Second opinions allow you additional information to decide what is best for you. read more

I am so happy I found Dr. Thaik. The care I have received has been excellent, and she always takes the time to explain things to me, which a previous cardiologist never did. The tests she does are heart comprehensive, and I'm happy to say in the year I've been seeing her, my cardiac test results have improved immensely. Dr. Thaik is a brilliant doctor who listens and gives you her honest opinion. I can count on her to tell me all the facts, and the reasons she's prescribing a certain medication if needed. I really like Dr. Thaik's holistic approach. My blood pressure and cholesterol numbers were all snowballing in the wrong direction and diabetes was on the horizon. I started to get discomfort with my heart, and I'm only 52. She increased my medication and explained that doctors tend to under treat. I 100% agree, as my numbers were still bad even on meds. This just shortens my life span so I was glad to see the proactive approach. She also tested me for any heart issues or damage due to this to ensure I'm ok. The kicker here is, she very strongly encouraged me to work on my diet and lifestyle change. She gave me several ways I could approach it and I listened to her and did it. All I can say is, she saved my life. My numbers are all the way down and I'm almost to the point I don't need any medication at all. My weight is down significantly and I have implemented her suggested changes. It's taken work on my part but what's great is that instead of a doctor finger wagging and telling you to do this and that, Dr. Thaik gave me the tools I needed to implement. I think all cardiologists should try this approach. Not everyone can get off meds, but this doctor isn't opposed to that. I first sought medical care from Dr. Thaik in the Summer of 2020 after being with Kaiser for the majority of my life. I had just had a full body scan and discovered I had a good deal of calcification in my arteries. I was looking for someone who practiced holistic medicine in the SCV and her name popped up in my search. Bingo! She accepted my insurance. Now on to my experience. I got a bad vibe the second I walked into her office. She was up at the front desk talking to one of the receptionists in a very condescending tone. She was extremely intimidating toward the young lady. Strike one. Our first visit was all business. She asked me what brought me to her office, and I told her that I was hoping to find someone who practiced a more natural approach to healing. She point-blank told me that her nurse practitioner was the one who knew about all that stuff and she had just left to open her own business (or something of that nature). Strike Two. She proceeded to rattle off a battery of tests she intended to perform on me (by the way, she didn't perform them, her assistant did). Every time I wanted to ask her a question, she interrupted me. I didn't even bother asking her why a procedure was being performed on me because obviously it was going to be her way or the highway. Needless to stay, after the full battery of tests, I am still on the same medication I was on when I walked in there. Absolutely nothing has changed. Strike three...she's out. The added star is for the receptionist who had to endure the psychological abuse. read more

UPDATE Dr Thaike. Thank you for the time you have taken out of your busy day to respond to my review. I apologize for not reading it as I read all of your other scathing responses to your other many 1 star reviews so I already know what to expect and don't feel like any further upset at your hands today. What I'd like to update the general public on is the fact that you also took the time to call my pacemaker surgeon and request that I be removed from his system and that he will no longer be taking care of me. I will be seeing what kind of boundaries you have overstepped by doing this. Dr Mok called me directly as he hasn't heard from me that I was wishing to be removed from his system and wanted to hear directly from me (his patient) before doing so. It's hard to believe that somebody who took the position to help people seems to take pleasure in harming them. I at least hope you take the time to relax and decompress over your Christmas vacation so as not to take your frustrations out on your patients when you return. Happy Holidays Dr Thaike. I have been a patient of Dr Thaik for several years and have watched her schedule get busier and patients be treated as though they are an inconvenience. The staff turn over in the office makes booking appointments and follow up appointments correctly almost impossible. It seems too much to ask to have face time with Dr Thaik and she will speak to you condescendingly if you ask to discuss your results with her in person on the same day even if the staff has failed to make a follow up appointment for you. To have Dr Thaike speedily go over the results of my echocardiogram six months after having my previous pacemaker replaced and make it clear to me that she is adding me onto her already busy day and that I need to understand that seeing her the same day as having an echocardiogram is far too much to expect and that I need to be aware that this is her last day in office before she leaves for Christmas vacation and that she has 20 patients already today and that if the kind of service I'm expecting includes going over my results with her the same day then I need to find another office as this is not how she works. I have never been chastised or spoken down to in such a manner from a medical professional before. The only saving grace was the echo technician that was kind enough to ask me if I was okay after Dr Thaike left the room and hugged me as I cried from embarrassment over the interaction and promised me I was not a burden to the office. I am beyond disgusted and hurt by the treatment. From the front desk where I stood for 20 min waiting for the office attendant to finish her court hearing over the phone to being firmly put in my place when asking to have my results discussed with me. Dr Thaike has clearly taken on too many patients and at the beginning of the year backtracked and went back to being patient PCD after sending out a letter explaining that her workload was too heavy to continue this service. If being a martyr and overloading her schedule in an office run by office assistants struggling to book appointments correctly at the expense of patients peace of mind and dignity is her idea of being an asset to the medical field I feel badly for the patients that choose to stick around and I pray that my next cardiologist takes a more human approach to their patients. read more

I moved from N.J. to Ca. a few months ago.I needed to find a cardiologist.My husband searched the internet and looked for one with exceptional ratings,reviews,comments and background. He found Dr.Thaik to meet and far exceed in every area. I went there. She performed a series of tests,and put me on a blood pressure med that has helped me tremendously. She continues to conduct tests. Just had a 24 hr. Halter done. I had what I considered an urgent issue,called her,and my call was returned,and she advised me as to how to proceed. I feel truly blessed to have such an excellent cardiologist. I found her personable and extremely talented and helpful. I also found her staff to be professional,helpful,and caring too.
