Very dissatisfied with employee Paula... I spoke with her on 6/28 at 11:30 a.m. and advised that she would check the insurance and call me back. I called at 1:45, 2:40, 4:05 and 4:50. Left messages but told she'll call you back. Two days later, aha! She answered and no need to leave a message! She gives me an excuse which is ridiculous because a short call back letting me know that they're working on it would have been prime customer service. Awful experience. I was very hopeful in the beginning when I started going to this office, however that hope and optimism only lasted about 2 appointments. I was provided false promises regarding a long term plan for my chronic pain, and I have been to so many doctors searching for a diagnosis- so I have worked with many different types of doctors! Also, after about the 2nd appointment, I felt as though he did not remember who I was, nor did he remember what we discussed at previous appointments despite having notes in front of him. I was interrupted mid-sentence many times and not given much chance to fully answer questions or explain myself. I had an issue with one of my prescriptions, which is helped to manage the chronic pain so was very important to me to receive. (I do appreciate this doctors work with obtaining the prescription for me initially) however when it came time to refill it was extremely challenging and his front desk plus the compounding pharmacy and myself tried for over 10 days to receive the order so I could obtain a refill. Ultimately I ended up having to decrease the dose on my own in order to not completely run out, which cause my pain to flare up again! I can see how some may benefit from going here, however I would not recommend this doctor or office just due to my past experience. read more

Dr Silverman has trained all over the world and continues to learn and contribute to advances in the medical field. At first I called him my "psychic rheumatologist" because, without imaging, he would somehow KNOW exactly what is going on (if course then we would get the imaging to confirm) - As my health declined and I looked for second and third opinions, I am so happy to have found him. Not only does he work hard for his patients (his staff does to, Lisa at the front desk is a Godsend) he understands the emotional aspects /depression that comes with losing mobility. - Dr Silverman, unlike most doctors, never gives up or settles when it comes to patient care. He is ALWAYS looking for ways to provide the best quality of life for his patients and provides links/materials to the latest research when they are available. - Dr Silverman saved my life, I have no doubt about that. With him on my team I KNOW I have a specialist in my corner that understands how different each individual patient is. He was the FIRST in my 5 year spiral to do a GENOME test to make sure that the medications I was taking were effective based on my DNA and discovered gene mutations linked to certain ailments - rather than prescribe harsh drugs, he opts for supplements and the LeAST invasive/life altering options first. - I find myself proud to give Dr Silverman my updates and I have never been afraid to confide in him about anybody my fears. This is a fine physician, who listens, is astute, and is not afraid to contradict others who have not based their opinions on science. He is considered an authority in the area of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, and Fibromyalgia. He is actually my primary care physician, and i discuss a multitude of complicated and serious conditions, including neuromuscular disorders because two of my siblings were diagnosed with ALS. He is kind, caring, and extremely knowledgable. I can highly recommend him, and his staff is outstanding. Kind doctor who is very knowledgable and validating. After going through over a decade of debilitating health problems, he finally validated some diagnoses (For any patients who may be similar-Early Sjogren's, CFS/ME, Dysautonomia/POTs/orthostatic hypotension, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, spinal osteopenia, etc.) and has started me on treatments that are improving my quality of life (Plaquenil for Sjogren's, he prescribed rifaxamin and atrantil for SIBO, etc.) I love how he is integrative incorporating both big pharma and holistic medicine, which takes an open minded provider who stays up to date with research. I contact him frequently for help and he's pretty responsive via email. He's very sweet and tries to find the humor in detrimental situations. Additionally, I love how he doesn't always make you test and treats the symptoms. I've been poked and prodded many times over the last decade to no avail with no answers or treatments that helped. Some of the tests I needed, I couldn't do due to my other conditions and he was kind enough to prescribe the treatment anyway. I have been a patient of Dr. Silverman for many years. I'm thankful that we trusted our referral and gut on this man. My life has changed so much for the better. When I wrote my last review I was ecstatic and beyond amazed to be out of bed a few days a week - NOW, I was just able to be birth doula for my daughter/son-in-law' and new granddaughter, babysit my two-year old grandson, keep my own house clean all despite the untimely death of my son. I'm not saying he is a healer - I'm saying, be cautious placing assumptions on him that may apply to other doctors. He's stayed with me when nothing was working. He steps forward to help with anxiety and pain and I've gotten better. Sick (diagnosis) was 12 years ago and it's hard to stay level but Silverman hasn't run out of ideas. He'll very rarely touches a patient except to squeeze a joint like the elbow for swelling.... and his visit is over in less than 5 minutes. I do not post yelp reviews, but I will for Dr. Silverman because he is the best doctor I have ever seen. For years I was experiencing recurring migraines that made it difficult to even get out of bed in the mornings. I had body aches (muscular and joint pain), really low energy and fatigue and felt miserable. I visited at least a dozen different doctors: neurologists when we thought it might be MS, endocrinologists when we thought it might be thyroid related, functional medicine doctors for overall support, and nothing. They all came back and told me that absolutely nothing was wrong and that it was all in my head. Dr. Silverman is incredibly empathetic, understanding, and was the first doctor who acknowged the pain I was in. He recommended a combination treatment for anxiety + fibromyalgia and recommend Buspar + Low Dose Naltrexone. He told me that this would not work overnight and that I should expect to notice a difference between 6-8 weeks. I can't explain it, because it wasn't overnight, but slowly it was like the dark cloud of pain and exhaustion began to lift. It's been about a year now, and I can't believe how far I've come. I'm exercising regularly, sleeping well, and not feeling depleted of energy throughout the day. I have to agree with N.J. I didn't find him arrogant personally, but I ended up paying about a ton of $ for tests which then amounted to nothing. He doesn't like responding to phone, so patients are encouraged to email. Well he doesn't always respond to email either. My net result was to pay $1400 out of pocket for tests, to have him tell me to buy myself a home traction kit for $12, which looks like a bra on a coat hangar, and not shockingly, does nothing. I sent a follow up asking him if he had any other diagnoses or recommendations for me, considering the amount of $ spent, and he never responded. read more

Horrible office and not a good doctor at all I had an appointment and drove from orange county I drove an hour and a half and I hope your office sees tthis review The assistant told me there was no other time to come I showed up right on time and I had left my mask in my car and didn't want to run down and be late: The woman at the front desk refused to let me in or give me a mask she was yelling at me literally yelling ! I was crying outside and some nice woman who was apatient came out give me a mask. Be prepared you have to ring the doorbell and look into a camera to even get in and nobody answers. finally the assistant came out who works for the doctor he started raising his voice and saying first of all I haven't taken your temperature. I said first of all I've been waiting and you never came out to take my temperature. He just went back in when it was time to call me in to just fill out some more paperwork the woman was screaming at me at the front desk literally screaming again! I told them this is unacceptable and I won't stand somebody screaming at me he said will be a couple minutes. By the time I saw the doctor it was one hour later. There was a nice woman who was the physician assistant she was very nice. They were very rushed and I was getting a bone density test she said it would be $150 I told her my insurance covers anything and therefore I wouldn't be getting that specific test I'd like to go over the bloodwork with the doctor they rushed me in the office were rushing around and when the doctor came in he spent literally 10 minutes with me he basically said you're losing bone density but I suggest some acidophilus and a vibrating machine and I'll see you in two months. OMG. I've never had this experience I have the top doctors at Cedars sinai this was horrible I left crying and had to drive home an hour and a half it was a horrible experience. read more

Dr. Silverman consistently shows up late for appointments, and as a result, has spent very little time with me. He rushes me through my questions, offers very little details about test results, and then rushes right back out of the room. When I've managed to capture his attention for more than five minutes, he has been knowledgeable and given me some help, but I leave feeling as though I had to fight for it. Additionally, while his front desk staff is courteous and helpful, the woman in charge of prescriptions/insurance coverage (Nina) is atrocious. She is completely unresponsive by phone and by email, and has even flat out lied to me about contacting my insurance for approval on prescriptions, only for me to find out it never happened, and my insurance was actually quite willing to cover the medication with a recommendation from the doctor. read more

Dr. Silverman is a wonder doc when it comes to fibromyalgia (I'm sure he's excellent with other conditions, too). When I showed up to his office after being advised to see if fibromyalgia might be causing my symptoms, I was so tired all the time I was falling asleep driving, in so much pain there were days I couldn't move or sleep at night, and generally miserable and unsure what to do. He figured out that restless leg syndrome was causing my sleep trouble right off the bat, and gave me something that let me sleep normally--no more fatigue. Then he figured out something to stop my migraines, and we worked together to figure out a combination of treatments that would improve my pain. I'm a hundred times happier and more functional than when I first went to him, and can't recommend him more. read more

In late 2007, I became very ill and was diagnosed with something that was not supposed to be real. I needed a doctor that knew about Fibromyalgia, but most important someone that believed in my pain. In October of 2011 I found Dr. Silverman. He has helped me help myself; he didn't just send me home with a hand full of medication. I have always felt that everything I took was a step to getting better, even when the standard treatment didn't work. He listened to me when I found new information or treatments for FM. I don't think I could be where I am today, if it weren't for his willingness to work outside the box with me. He is kind but straight to the point. This review is far too long coming. I should have posted this months ago. I've been a patient of Dr. Silverman's for about a year, and in that time, he has done more for me than any doctor I've ever had. He's helped me make more progress, understand my condition better, and overall just been the best support a medical professional has ever been. He's very knowledgeable, observant, and he's incredibly good at understanding what I'm trying to communicate. Because of this, he's been able to immediately identify and help treat my fibromyalgia, psychiatric concerns, and chronic pain syndrome much more thoroughly than I thought was even possible. Because he understands how different conditions and symptoms can affect each other, he's been able to give me the most well rounded and accurate treatment possible. His office staff is great too! Lisa and Nina are very kind and thorough, and I always feel well taken care of in their hands - Lisa even knows me immediately by voice on the phone now and always greets me with a smile. And Ros is the best nurse I've ever had! I wish I could take her with me to every clinic I ever have to visit!!! I'm still finding exactly what works best for me, but my quality of life has significantly improved, thanks to Dr. Silverman. More importantly, I have hope where there was none before. I was resigned to suffering deeply for the rest of my life, but now I know that isn't how it has to be. Dr. Silverman stays up to date on new treatments, medical information and journals, and he takes a multidisciplinary approach when treating his patients. He's the first doctor that hasn't just recommended pills and then given up. Everything's changing all the time, and he not only keeps himself (and by proxy, me) in the loop on the treatments available for fibromyalgia and degenerative knee osteoarthritis, but he always seems to be putting in the work to research on his own as well. He's established helpful programs at Cedars-Sinai and works with students at UCLA to find or gather data on newer treatments and their effectiveness. Most importantly, though, Dr. Silverman is probably the most caring, human, and passionate medical provider I've ever had. He's kind and it's very clear that he cares about both me as an individual and people as a whole who suffer from debilitating conditions such as mine. Dr Silverman has been my doctor for over five years. I have Chronic Fatigue syndrome. I saw many different doctors and no one was able to help me. At my worse I was bet bound. Fortunately Dr Silverman recognized by condition and was able to prescribe medication to help me. It was a gradual process but I am now strong and able to have a full life. Even shoveling snow. Dr. Silverman has had a tremendous impact on my quality of my life. Not only is he brilliant, but he is the first doctor in 3 years to work overtime to figure out the right plan of treatment for me. I happen to be a rather complicated case and doctor after doctor gave up on me and some even did not attempt to help in any way. His patience, kindness, 24/7 availability, and his devotion to caring for and figuring out the right path of care for his patients, is unchanging. I see him a couple times a month and in that time I have gotten to know him. He really is a great person and I am confident that I will get better due to Dr. Silverman's medical abilities and our work together. The office staff is also really helpful and warm. Sometimes you need to contact them a few times to get something done but in my experience every doctors office works this way. They are not awful staff in the slightest. I am glad I get to chat with them as often as I do and that they, in a way, are part of my medical team as well. I do not understand how there could be bad reviews here. I owe my quality of life to Dr. Silverman and I would without a doubt recommend him to everyone in need of a physician, especially if you are a particularly complicated case. Dr. Silverman was able to diagnose and treat my condition which had baffled over 10 other doctors. If I'd listened to the other doctors, I'd still be very sick and my life would be in shambles. Dr. Silverman is very neglected and arrogant doctor who failed to diagnose my pancreatic cancer. Spending time in his exam room does not exceed 2 or 3 min. To cut your appointment he usually says "thank you" and leaves you with many unanswered questions. Dr. Silverman is only interested in osteoporosis or rheumatology treatments in which he is great expert, but for treatment of other medical conditions Dr. Silverman showes very poor motivation and limited time approach to solve the problem. I had no trouble getting the first appointment but it was all down hill from them. The appointment was rushed and he had his techs draw blood for which I never got the results. I signed a release for a transfer of my records from my doctor in the east and the staff never processed it. After multiple calls to the practice with multiple promises and excuses I asked to speak with the doctor. He called and started going on about how he can't get the perscription for ambien, which had nothing to do with me. He promised everything would go smoothly as the recetionist was fired. A month later the same nonsense was going on and after I yelled at his office manager that it had been 3 months and all they give me are excuses and promises but nothing changes, I asked to speak with the doctor. He never called...... A mess of a practice for sure. Completely shocking that a medical doctor would allow a practice to be run so poorly and for him to be so rushed, confused and disorganized.... read more
