PECTACULAR! Dan and his crew have really delivered a beautiful pool and spa. We have been searching for a reasonably priced pool installer for about three years and were astonished by the outrageous prices for the most basic of designs. We then met with the team at Aqua Unique through our neighbor who also was getting a pool installed. Their design incorporated all the features we wanted (waterfalls, lights, decorative wall..), and at a price that was incredibly fair. Once we said yes and the permits were obtained the action started immediately. Dan, his crew, and even the subcontractors were all very professional, polite and friendly as they went about their work quite diligently. The tile guys were especially good, so much so, that we hired him to do a backsplash upgrade in our kitchen. Unlike many contractors, Dan remained in constant contact and never let the job slow down. He had promised us a pool by Christmas and the water was flowing by Thanksgiving. Dan's knowledge of pool construction is evident in how he handles each stage of the project. He was also invaluable to the design of the pool as he convinced us to move where we had originally planned to put our decorative wall as well as the pumps and heater. The latter item resulting in much better heating of our spa (gets up to toasty temperatures in less than 30 minutes) which will result in lower costs. Overall Dan and his team have built a quality pool that is gorgeous and will provide our family with countless hours of fun as well as add to the overall value of our property. read more

5 star workmanship and service! I've been working with Dan and Tom for a while now. I hired them Feb 2021 to build a brand new pool in my backyard. This is my first pool ever so we didn't really know too much about certain things. Dan and Tom helped us work through all the details and were flexible with all our requests along the way. I have all state of the art equipment now with energy saving pumps. I was about to go with solar heating but Dan even recommend to use a Heat pump instead of going with solar heating as I already had electric solar. Saved me from drilling more holes in my roof! Dan also took care of all the city permitting process which other pool builders we interviewed with would not do, one less headache for me! PENDING FINAL TOUCHES! First you must realize that Dan Ho (the owner of Cypress Builders) is probably the greatest singer from Vietnam to ever set foot in the United States. If they had American Idol in Vietnam he would, without a doubt, win the whole thing. Lucky for you they do not, so he is here in the USA working on backyards and making people's dreams come true. I searched for a local pool company here in Brentwood and came across Aqua Unique/Cypress builders. I've received quotes with other places but I chose Dan and his team because they were more aligned to entertaining my requests. 1. Time to complete the job 2. I was able to design most of the backyard 3. Personalities 4. Reviews 5. Quality of products and options between pool equipment and tile were all high end Dan and Louis have paid their dues and now manage their crew but have done all the work previously and it shows because they jump right in and do the work if there were any delays. The whole backyard looks great! At the end of the day they have a crew of trusted guys to do specific work or hard labor. We set some days aside for his guys to also do some work for me like planting trees, relaying my turf, clearing out old stuff. I couldn't be happier with how our pool and backyard turned out! A little background on our backyard. We had our yard previously done by an untrustworthy person who tried to run with our money and did not do the job right. So when we decided to redo our yard, I did intensive search on who to hire. Cypress Builders/Aqua Unique was on top of the list. They have a showroom in Brentwood which is awesome because we got to pick things out in person rather than by magazines. We worked with Luis through the beginning, then halfway, we started working with Dan, the owner. Both have been easy to work with and accommodating with any questions and concerns. The only criticism I have is scheduling. I would have to call to ask what/when the next phase will be or sometimes I get told the day before that someone is coming. But with time and patience (as you will need with any major construction) I do have to say that our pool was done in the timeframe that was promised...2 months! We originally had turf that they reinstalled for us. They repaved our yard, which they did an amazing job on. Overall they made our backyard into exactly how we dreamed of. It's beautiful! Our backyard was only dirt since we had moved into a newly constructed home and Cypress Builders did the entire project consisting of stamped concrete, grass with sprinklers as well as planting around the edge with a drip irrigation system. They also did an aluminum Pergola. Overall the quality of their work was very good. During the process Dan was accommodating in changes to the project as well as working within the budget set forth. Anyone who has ever had a pool put in knows that it can be stressful. So many decisions to make. And alot of details that the average homeowner may not understand. While I admit the process was not without its hiccups. The owner Dan Ho has made and continues to make every attempt to resolve them. Without question he has agreed to make whatever changes or repairs that have come up during our project. Alot of which I changed along the way. The contractors that he uses are very professional and good at what they do. Dan did more than put a pool in for me. He transformed my yard into my own slice of paradise. My experience with Cypress Builders/Aqua Unique Pools has been outstanding. Tom was a great salesperson, trustworthy, polite, great follow up and patience after a lot of questions and deep dive on pricing with me. Design and Permits moved along nicely, even during the Pandemic. Once excavation started Dan Ho took over and the project moved expediently along. Dan carefully planned the project and didn't miss any major details, in fact he was great at dealing with a large scope of work that I added, and he and his team handled it smoothly and without issue. Our pool looks awesome and we couldn't be happier. Was it completely perfect, no. But we have yet to experience any situation where it is. It took a while for us due to weather, about 5 months. We contracted with Dan in 2020. We were his first contract of the year. COVID delayed the start process but we got underway in May and the project was completed in Sept. In addition to the pool and hot tub, we redid the entire backyard. What I liked about Dan is that he was a one stop shop for everything even though some of it was subcontracted out. We did artificial turf, a 20x20 covered patio, full outdoor kitchen, composite wood deck, full landscaping, and fence replacement. We love our backyard. We use it so much and it has become a place that our friends and family love visiting. Dan really maximized every square inch of space and made our yard really functional. Things throughout the project didn't always go to plan, but Dan would make up for it with lots of extra details that made a big difference in the end aesthetic. This is the email I wrote to Tom and Dan after spending three + months negotiating to get a pool built. Hi Tom, This response took me a bit by surprise.  We have been working with you for the last three months trying to get a pool built and I felt that we were very close to finalizing the contract and signing it with Aqua Unique.  We had several questions regarding the contract that we wanted to address before signing it  so that we could minimize any misunderstandings during the buildout of the pool.  Instead of addressing our questions, you "respectfully declined" our project.  We found this response to be unprofessional. If you did not want to pursue this project, it would have been better to let us know at the beginning of February to save both of us a lot of wasted time and not lead us to conclude that we would be working with Aqua Unique. Because of your actions and slow response, we lost time that could have been spent working with a more committed company.  We met with you several times and had several calls to discuss what we wanted to do with our pool design and you always seemed responsive and willing to work with us, yet we never saw any of our conversations or your verbal commitments make it into the proposal and/or the contract. When we questioned discrepancies between your proposal and the actual pool contract, your response was to "respectfully decline" the project.  The reason we had so many questions/concerns is because you neglected to update the contract based on our numerous discussions.  This is a substantial contract value and we wanted to be clear on what scope we were getting included in the contract. This is what I believe any responsible potential customer would do. We are not typically the type that leave negative reviews, but this experience has really left us questioning the ethics of your company. My project was to redo my front lawn and repair a large crack in my porch and finish it with brick. The final project looks really good. Dan followed through on all things that he promised to do although it did take a long time. He wasn't always reliable showing up when he said he would or he would come without letting me know he was coming. Part of the lawn died because the sprinkler had not been repaired correctly but Dan followed up, replaced the lawn, and repaired the sprinkler. I would change the rating to a five star as soon as the fountain he installed starts to work!!! read more
