The nursing college and the program is dated and the classrooms have no windows, just concrete walls. Lab is limited and often doesn't have the materials for practicing skills, even though you paid the additional lab fees. They blame it on the budget cuts. In fact, whenever anything is lacking, that is the excuse given. The Cypress nursing program was once considered "top-notch", but sadly, it is slowly diminishing. Whomever is running it at the top is allowing to be run into the ground. It appears that most of the money is being put into other areas of the college instead. Also, the cafeteria is overpriced for poor quality food and service. Place is always filthy. Seems no one bothers to clean up after the patrons. The pre-made sandwiches aren't labelled so you never know what you are buying nor how much you are paying. The nicest things there are the library, track & tennis courts and the duck pond. read more

I used t be a student here 2005-2006 and I hated the campus then. Classrooms have no windows, library was ancient and everyone is too busy to even say hi (it`s a commuter campus,duh) but it has changed since then. The fountain in the middle of campus is beautiful and the library is spacious. Obviously noone would install windows, but all the other editions made this campus much nicer! read more

I chose this college because of how helpful the staff is, how organized it is to enroll and how clean and pretty the campus is. Obviously not all the teachers will be great, but there are a lot of programs on campus or the website to get help with a class if need be. read more

I simply love this school! I used to go to Fullerton college and wanted a change so I decided to come to Fullerton's sister school. The parking is a little weird but it's better than most campuses. I love the pond and enjoy sitting by it while I do homework on a nice day. The teachers are amazing as well. My favorite teacher is Mr. Adams! I have taken 5 classes with him and enjoyed every one! He has become my mentor and is always there to help me or any other students. It's hard to find teachers who care that much. The cafeteria is kind of on the small side for the amount of students on campus but luckily there are plenty of places to eat around campus!! read more

I've been at Cypress College for three years now and I am happy to say I am going to be transferring to Cal State Fullerton next semester. My time here at cypress has had it's up an downs between class availability and staff involvement in education but I overall had a great time here. One thing I would recommend is taking time out of your day to sit by the lake in the middle of campus to unwind and step away from the stresses of life. Cypress college is a great place to build a foundation for furthering your education. read more

It is a place to motivate your mind. I love this school. The professors are so encouraging, open-minded, and so knowledgable. I took bios here and other classes too. They have hybrid class for anatomy and physiology. I love it! It works wonderfully with someone busy, working like me. The food in the cafe are yummy, the financial aid office is working hard to help students. They even call my cell phone when they need more clarification for my file. Cypress College, how I regret spending time there. If I could give them no stars, I would. Let's see, their administration is less than satisfactory, they have many teachers who I believe, shouldn't be teachers at all, I have reason to believe they care more about money than they do than their students and so many things don't make sense there. From their admission & records staff to their counselors, to the library staff; I can honestly say I never had a good experience with them and unfortunately, I've been there for too many years. (Hangs head in shame) Their a & r staff are rude and not professional, I've lost count to how many times I received faulty information and had to find the correct information myself. I recall one time where I didn't have money to pay for my classes but I wanted to drop a class. This is where it gets strange- they didn't let me! I couldn't comprehend how it would've been logical for me to receive an F in my class simply because I couldn't pay for my classes. Either way, I was going to have to pay for the classes, I'm getting billed for them, but they did not let me drop it. I spoke to a person "in charge" at the a&r staff and besides the fact that she was talking to me like I was an imbecile, she told me there was nothing I could do about it and that no matter who I talked to I would have to receive the F. So I went to the foundations office and what do you know, they let me drop the class. Another time I wanted to drop the dance concert I enrolled in. I called the a&r because I didn't have the $1.00 catalog you have to PAY for (the only college I know that does this) and I didn't have internet access. I asked her if I could still get my refund if I dropped the concert, and if I couldn't, I would stay in it because I didn't want to lose the $100. She assured me I would most definitely get my refund so I dropped the class. Later on I receive an EMAIL, not even a decent call back telling me that I would not receive a refund. I emailed her back stating that if I had known this, I obviously wouldn't have dropped it but she didn't seem to care and told me it was my responsibility to know. If I didn't have a catalog or internet access, shouldn't I be able to rely on the a&r staff? Let's not forget the time I went to the health center feeling like I had the flu. I walked in and asked for antibiotics. "Oh we don't give out antibiotics unless someone has a virus" "I believe I have a virus so could I see someone about getting some antibiotics?" The nurse ushers me in, I explain to her my symptoms, she "examines" me and tells me I'm fine. "I know I'm not fine, I know my body. I have really bad coughs, body pain, I feel horrible, etc" She prescribes a nasal spray and tells me I'm fine. A day later I go to a Dr and low and behold I had BRONCHITIS, ASHTMA AND A VIRUS!! He even said "What's going on? you are sick as a doog" Anyway, there are so many other incidents I've had similar to these, the list goes on and on. I just decided to finish my general ed at Irvine Community College. Regarding the money issue, tell me why every semester that I go back to school there are more and more staff parking lots taking over the students? That's fine as long as the teachers understand the situation, but I've yet to receive any kind of understanding from teachers about the lack of parking. One last thing, I like how they have security (most of the time, it's not even real security but students my age) walking ON FOOT or on a bike issuing parking tickets as opposed to searching for danger going on school campus. I see security guards everyday, all the time issuing tickets. I receive email from the school about a girl getting raped, and the other night, I see a car covered in post it notes (windshield, doors, even the wheels) and the word "fag" written on the windshield. As I drive closer to the car to wonder where security was when this happened, what do I see? A security car just strolling around the parking lot. It's so nice to know your school security is always looking out for you. read more

Very rude staff. When you come into a place where you have no knowledge of how to do anything they look at you like your an inconvenience. Also me and my boyfriend were signing up here and they told us two opposite things for the same task. They told him they needed an appointment and they tell me just walk in. So then when I walk in they tell me I need an appointment. Can you hire people who are qulified to do their job?Very rude, & dissatisfied. The reason why I writing this review is about Cypress College Disability Student Program Service (DSPS).Yes I do have learning disability. The most thing to remember if you are a disability student and new to this campus be prepare the staff is RUDE. I really do think that they hate there job. They want to get you in and out of there soon as possible. Oh and don't waste your time and try to ask them a question, they will tell you to ask the other lady at one of the other desk and so on so on. They will not help you out with homework papers nothing!!! I had attended Fullerton College in the past and never had a problem. I really don't like the staff there, they have no extension of help anyone. I think there is only one staff member there that will answer some of you questions and help you out is Steve other than that good luck the women staff members there are rude and don't care!!! read more

This is a review of their weekend. parking policy. I drove from Northern California to Southern California to attend a flea market held at the college on the weekend. I was given a $37 parking ticket for pulling forward into the next parking spot. Really? They called it "Head in only, improper stall parking." There were no posted signs that I saw that said this was going to result in a ticket and when I challenged it they denied my challenge. Cars were pulling into the parking lots by the droves when I was there and I wasn't the only one pulling forward. I'm sure the college made a lot of money that day from visitors. A one time "we forgive you, please don't do this again" would have been more appropriate. If this is their policy towards visitors I shudder to think how they treat others. Very disappointed. read more

Came because it is the sister school to Fullerton College. I love the instructors so far. Professor Sanchez makes Anatomy make sense!! I love SI, I don't if all schools offer supplemental information like Cypress does but it has helped immensely. The pond in the center of campus is beautiful and relaxing to look at in between classes. So far it's been a great experience and I would recommend Cypress to everyone! read more

As a veteran, I'm not sure you can get better than this. All of my professors so far have been great, the Vet center here is award winning. I mean seriously, they really do care about you and will help you in every way. It's a good clean campus, lots of activities, awesome library... Can't really say anything bad. read more

This is a great school. Cypress has wonderful professors who do care about your success and they will make you work for it. The campus itself is nice and has great accommodations. The staff is nice too idk what these other comments are. The cafeteria is like any other cafeteria it's fast food what do you expect. There are plenty a variety of food joints around campus. Campus security is serious and I feel safe. I've had no trouble with anything, signing up - safety. Every department is different obviously but the medical/science department is lovely and they offer a lot of certificate programs. I realized I searched yelp for where to go to school and I'm glad I chose Cypress College it has great diversity. Uhm I should add that I go to school for an actual education not social interaction or partying.. With that said, I do notice that there are a lot of younger people who are fresh out of high school I don't know if that's because it's in a rural/central area or if it's because it's #3 of top colleges in California or whatever but obviously if thats why you're going to school for other reasons than to learn there a ton of party colleges like Santa Barbara or Chico. Financial aid is a pain but that's normal first couple weeks of a semesters parking sucks but you can find something just park further or get there early read more

Worst experience ever at the dental hygiene building. I had two appointments for myself and my mother, we were 15 minutes late for the first appointment and I tried calling them before I get there to ask them where to park and I got lost in the parking lot for about 20 minutes. Plus I live 30 miles away so that's 60 miles of driving for absolutely nothing. When I go to lot 3, the 3rd floor. They told me that they can't see one of us anymore, we were okay with that. Then we started filling out paperwork for the second appointment and when I turned it in, the program director said that she can't see either of us because we didn't come on time for the First appointment--even though we had two consecutive appointments. She said that 'this is a government runner business not a private practice,' 'why did u come here?' 'you're not a good candidate for the students' even though I'm a healthy 18 year old girl. And also because my mother was wearing a veil, she asked her why she wearing it, then she didn't want to talk to her anymore. The lady was rude, unprofessional, disrespectful, and unethical. read more

Campus is not too big not too small. Everyone is quite friendly on campus as well! Just make sure you check ratemyprofessor for the best professors on campus. If I had to suggest some improvements, I would say that we need faster internet connection that doesnt drop all the time. read more

I actually attended Cypress in 2005. I moved to Long Beach, so attending LBCC out of convenience seemed to fit me better... or so I thought! I have LBCC to thank for my college frustration and making me return to Cypress College (10 more miles out of my way!). The staff here is EXTREMELY helpful. They are very patient and very informative; I had a million questions and they never rolled their eyes at me when I asked the same thing over and over... and over (once more to be sure!). They really want to see you succeed. They took the fear of going back to college and transferring to a university right out of me. I can't say enough good things about this place... Oh, they also have parking and a ridiculously clean campus and it's not too crowded. (All this compared to LBCC, of course!) read more

I like the openess of this campus, the stone/concrete walls (very sad they're taking them out), and most of the teachers. The library is great, huge computer lab and they always have the course books on reserve (Fullerton only relies on donations). Every once in a while you'll see the anime club in cosplay and the college usually has an interesting lecture/debate every semester (like the Existence of God in 2007). The teachers here are super nice, almost always helpful, and very into their subject. However, the drawbacks are that a quarter, maybe more, of the teachers don't care about their students or teaching and you can definitely tell they do it only for the money. My advice is to always look up the teacher on whototake.com or ratemyprofessors.com. But all the other teachers, it's super easy to talk to and the classes were a lot of fun. read more

I've been attending Cypress college since 1989 even after earning my clinical Doctorate. I purchase a parking permit almost every semester and display it properly on the windshield of my vehicle. Two weeks prior to the end of the Spring 2014 semester I got a ticket for not having a parking permit. Officer # 313 placed the ticket right under my current parking permit. I went around campus and found the officer. He told me he did not see the parking permit. I appealed the citation and Campus Safety upheld their decision stating the permit was not properly displayed. What a way to make money for the college and cover up the negligence and incompetence of one of their officers. SHAME ON YOU CYPRESS COLLEGE. read more

I live in OC, so this is the college closest to my place. The college really cares about you, more than other colleges I've been so far. I used to go all to way to OCC just for classes. The one thing I'm a little bit annoyed is regarding people who do not stop talking in the library. You can talk on the 1st floor. You can talk in the group study room on the 2nd floor. However, outside of the study room you should not even talk. Everyone is cramming for exam weeks and there will always be those kind of people who have no regards for anybody. Try to be quiet in the 2nd floor from now on. If you need to talk to a friend, go down to the 1st floor or go to another building. I don't really want to look bad to others but sometimes I had to go up to people and ask them to stop talking. PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS. I feel like there should be a giant sign in the library that even someone who have low intelligence can comprehend. We are in college. We are wise and responsible for our actions. We are adults, not children. Even children follow directions. How shameful. read more
