I am very disappointed in the Cypress monument. Two years ago, I ordered a ledger stone for my parents. When I talked to them, they said it would take about a year to get the stone from China, and once the stone arrived it doesn't take long to complete the project. They never emailed or called me to let me know the ledger had arrived, I had to keep calling them to follow up when they could finish the project. Month after month the owner Brent had many excuses. Finally, he said they used to have 4 staff, and now they only have one staff to do the inscription, so their orders are back up. I kept my patience and kept asking for the date of completion, but they were unable to provide me with that information. They asked me to pay the rest of the money because the ledger is ready to be installed. So I thought. But it took them another 4 months for them to get the job done. From the time I ordered the stone ledger to time the project to complete was 2 years. . I wouldn't recommend anyone to use this company. They are not honest and never give me a straight answer as to why it took them so long to complete the project. read more

My family and I have tried to be as patient as possible...it's almost 2 years now since my brother passed away we ordered the stone covid 19 delayed it then everyone is back working still had no stone or a call to tell us anything about it...we keep insisting and they go install the stone....great right? NOT! NO PICTURES NOW....have been calling and going in person and they just give you the run around yeah well get out there and put them on, oh they might not be done yet....why??? My daughter and I went to their facility to discuss creating a monument for my husband's gravesite. The gentleman we spoke with was friendly and somewhat helpful. That was the last positive contact we had with this firm. We followed up with emails, submitting pictures, phone calls and to date no one has ever responded to our requests. Due to their apparent lack of interest in our business, we have located another firm who seems to be willing to work with us and is very responsive. Was terrible my dad passed away back in 2020 I ordered the stone on august 2021 it was suppose to be done march or first week of April nothing was done excuse over excuse one day machines were broken one day all the employees were sick one day they had to close the business for the day because it was too hot when I called week before they said there's an issue with the foundation they just tried the cemetery and the person said it's not done yeah he needs 2 to 3 weeks more I knew it was another silly excuse so I called the cemetery my self the person picked up the phone said yes he did get call but the stone maker told him he is not close to be done he told me he did not tell him anything about the foundation he also added the foundation was done back in September 13, 2021 with prove I had to go to the point where I threatened him and said if he don't finish the stone by 3 days I was gonna report him to the county to cancel his license and fill a fraudulent complain to San Jose PD they panic and finished everything it was the most terrible experience I ever had it was my first time doing all these instead of making things easier for me they made it more complicated the only good thing about the place was the stone it was pretty cool read more

My family decided to get my Mom's headstone done at Cypress because of my fiance's positive experience with the owner, Carl. Initially, we wanted to find a Chinese/Asian vendor since we are Buddhist and needed the stone to be installed on a specific date/time and most of the writing would be in Chinese characters. We thought it would just be easier if the vendor understood our culture/religion, but after speaking with Carl during our first visit I felt very comfortable that Cypress has the experience and the ability to make this happen for us. Cypress is a small family owned business and I can tell how genuine they are during every interaction I've had with them. I've visited them 3-4 times before finalizing the design for the headstone. Carl and Brent helped us with the design. Along the way, we have changed the color of the headstone, went from only a front side design to having a front and back design, changed the flower design, and both Carl and Brent were extremely patient with us. They let us design the headstone the way we wanted and gave guidance and recommendations if we were not certain of what is best. I never once felt like they were annoyed or rushed us. We were indecisive and unsure of what will look good in terms of the color, cut, writing, and decor on the headstone. Luckily, Carl and Brent had so much experience that they were able to provide very thoughtful input in designing my Mom's headstone. I love that they did not try to nickel and dime us. The memorial gave us an option to purchase the headstone through them (third party) as well, but when we went in for the quote they were going to charge per letter/word after their character count allowance, which would end up costing us a fortune because we wanted Chinese characters and English writing. We did not want to cut down on the lettering because of the cost. Carl's quote was much less than half the price of the quote from the memorial vendor. We gave Carl a paper with the Chinese writing we wanted to be etched onto the headstone, and he sent it out to a professional who was able to convert the writing into an electronic version to allow him to create a stencil for it. Fast forward to installing the stone...we received a few dates/times from the Buddhist monk to determine when we can install the stone. Given that we are going through a pandemic, everything was so up in the air with what was opening or not opening, production times, etc. We provided the date and time to Brent and he pulled so many strings to make it happen for us. Cypress normally does not install headstones in the morning, but because the recommended time frame from the monk was 9-11am they were still able to accommodate us. The headstone was installed on our requested date and time. On the day of the installation, Kyle and two others arrived on time and installed the stone for us. The headstone turned out beautiful and exactly how we had imagined it to look like, from paper to stone. The quality of the stone, matching vases, and the etching was excellent. I will forever be grateful to the people at Cypress. Dealing with the death of a loved one is the hardest thing I've ever been through and it can get very overwhelming and stressful trying to complete what's left for your loved one. I highly recommend anyone who needs a headstone to use Cypress because of their professionalism and ability to deliver what you are looking for. read more

This place was literally an answer to prayers. I had been referred to another place in town to get my husband's marker made. Unfortunately that place never answers their phone, returns calls or is open during their posted business hours (found this out the hard way.) I was so discouraged and sad since this is already an overwhelming task for me after losing my husband, best friend and love of my life. My kids were really wanting me to get this ordered so I was so frustrated. When I found this place on yelp, I called immediately. And guess what!? Someone answered the phone and talked to me with empathy and compassion. I drove straight over and met Carl and some of the kitties that live there. This made me feel so comforted to see cats all around the place. Carl spent almost 3 hours with me custom designing the perfect marker for my love. His expertise, suggestions and patience carried me through the process. It will take about 3 months to be finished. When I told him about the kids wanting it quickly, he offered to make a temporary marker for Craig's grave. A week later it was done. And was absolutely beautiful. I can't recommend this place enough. They are the real deal. Totally blessed my socks off! PS. Parking can be difficult if you can't pull into their driveway. It's downtown and lots of one way streets so be careful. read more

Very disappointed my Grandma's stone won't be completed as I was told. Went in the office twice this week talked to Carl and I was advised it would be done Saturday and I would get a call for a follow up. No call so I call Carl and he tells me his employee is doing only the lettering but no picture due to they forgot so picture won't be in until Monday or Tuesday. I expressed to him from January and twice this week we are getting together for my grandma's 1year & he advise me Thursday that it will be done today. Then tries to tell flip it on me it's a 3-4 month process if he had told me this week it wouldn't be ready I could have reschedule my grandmas 1year celebration until next weekend. read more

Would give ZERO stars if I could. They take your money quickly with no problem but when it comes to getting the headstone it's a long, slow, and annoying process. My father passed nearly 2 years ago and we still do not have a completed headstone. I have called MULTIPLE times with no answers. They keep telling us that they will check on the status and get back to us but they never do. They said it would be there last week and still nothing. Don't give them your money or service. Horrible service and can never keep the promise date for stone placement. It's almost a year and my family member still doesn't have a head stone. When I called, Kyle stated he didn't have an excuse why the stone wasn't installed, he just didn't do it. He promised he would have it installed this coming Monday, but the Cemetary states that's not even possible because appointments and fees have to be set and paid. The owner is a liar! He was rude and very unprofessional.. He promised to set my marker without the cemetery knowing.. Although I suspected this to be odd he said this would save me money.. When it came time to place the marker he did not deliver when he was scheduled and did not call to notify me.. He could not give me an exact date and time when the marker would b delivered.. I became upset and then he told me I could get a refund. He was not apologetic and acted like a complete jerk about it!! I wasted months on this place only to be disappointed with no marker.. It is not often that you need these types of services, so we were pretty clueless in what we were looking for. Carl Safford not only helped us select a right stone, he also assisted us with its design creation. My mom was Persian so we wanted to include some Farsi writing on her stone. Carl had Farsi fonts in his software program and offered his help in incorporating them as part of the design work. He was extremely patient with us and kept saying that "this work is going to last forever, so take your time and make sure you get it right". We really appreciated his patience and generosity with his time to make sure we are completely satisfied with our design work. We still need his help in completing the design work and taking the stone to the graveside, however I have no doubt that he will do a great job for us all throughout. read more

The owner Carl is a con artist and will con senior citizens in telling them that the tombstones have been made for their loved ones and take their money. He will tell them that the tombstones have been delivered when they have not. I came in from out of town to see my dad's gravesite and there was no tomb, this was 9 months after he passed away and we had paid for the tombstone. I'm in the middle of getting an attorney and reporting this business to the Better Business Bureau and the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office. This guy keeps on giving me the run around since he knows I was from out of town and would be leaving. read more

My mother and I went here a few days ago to pick out a headstone for my grandfather's grave. The owner, Carl, was very friendly and knowledgeable. This is a very difficult time, for my mother especially, so it is nice to be helped with someone that knows about the business and can offer advise. He made sure to tell us of the fees the cemetery charges, which does help decide what to get when you're considering the total cost of everything. He is very reasonably priced and there are so many options to choose from. I know my mom and I can be a bit overwhelming with all our questions and special request, but Carl was very willing to answer all of our questions and took time to calculate the prices for the options we had. Most importantly, he really made us feel that the headstone is very special and important, he said that this decision will be there forever...which led us to really want to take our time to decide what we want it to say and what design. Every idea we gave him, he said it would be no problem. I can tell that he really does care about his customers and the business that he is in. I can safely say that I am confident that my grandfather's headstone is in great hands and it will be exactly like we want it to be. Agree with TX reviewer that something is not right with this place. Elderly relative designed, ordered, and paid for his headstone 5 years ago. The order form and receipts I have show the completely designed stone WITH a date of death (at the time listed 100 years from DOB.) now the time has come and I place the call for the completion. Left a message - no return call. Call several days later and Carl tells me he needs to email me something and charge me an additional $100. Also told me he had the design but the receipt was, "somewhere in my office" Remember I have a receipt that says balance due, ZERO, and shows a computer photo of a completed headstone. The email never showed up and burial day roles around. No death date on the tombstone. I call him again and he has no explanation for why he didn't send the email, gets my email address again and claims, again, his copy of the receipt is "somewhere" in his office and the only way the whole thing would have been paid for was if he wrote a specific note on the order form. When I suggested that he might want to change his forms he claims he can't write down everything. Well, how about and itemized statement of what your clients are paying for - a novel idea in the business world!!
