Called this course Friday morning to schedule a tee time. I spoke to an employee that worked at the pro shop and set a tee time for 3:09 pm for 3 people on 4/27. The guy tells me that I am good to go for Sunday. I arrive Sunday to the course to only be told that I do not have a tee time so we will have to wait 45 minutes for a cart to be available and I'm out of luck. They did nothing to accommodate and no accountability was held, honestly really was disappointed because the course isn't the best but it's not the worst so just hate that I kind of liked it. The pace of play was horrible but for 48 bucks at "3:09" price is not bad. I just wish they had better customer service. read more

Course was in good shape . Really nice layout with tons of water. Fairways were a bit dry and bare in some places. Greens were immaculate and FAST. Bunkers were crappy. Old man behind the desk was a grumpster but that won't ruin my round. Pricey round of golf!!! Save your Pennys read more

Cypress has always been an average golf course, price and general maintenance of the place for many years was up to price expectations. However lately, customer service, (front office and food order takers at club house) has gone from okay to really bad. Customer service is key!!! I played an early morning round here over the weekend after running across the course on Yelp and Google multiple times. Cart, green fee, bucket of balls and all, was around $80-ish for a early morning weekend round. Employees at the pro shop and marshal were very friendly. They made sure we knew where we were going and gave us as much insight on the course as possible which was appreciated. The course is built within a housing development like so many others, but the fairways don't feel as tight. There's plenty of room to drive and not too many holes where that slice is heading into a backyard. It's called Cypress Lakes and there is quite a bit of water. That being said, no hole has you crossing water and there weren't any overreaching fingers. Greens were crazy super fast. Overall, the course wasn't overly challenging by layout or hazards. Lots of straight line par 4's, a couple of dog legs and little elevation or topography/landscaping. I enjoyed my round but didn't feel like the price matched the experience. The greens were beat up, pace wasn't managed well as we found ourselves waiting on most tee boxes even with starting before 8am and the clubhouse/pro shop/snack bar are pretty tiny. Biggest problem for them is Blackhorse is just down the way for a similar price and a much better overall package. read more

I played yesterday. It was a little cool, and a lot windy! The course is in the midst of an ongoing housing development, but doesn't have that feeling. The design isn't cramped by the homes. They have made good use of the land to not have the layout compromised by the residential real estate. Overall it's a nice facility. The clubhouse isn't ostentatious by any means. But, gets the job done. There is a small pro shop and small snack bar positioned between the nines. It is still winter golf. So, playing conditions are just that. The course was in very good condition for the time of year. The greens were unbelievably FAST!!! I think that I have putted on kitchen floors that might have been slower! Three birdies and three three putts!!! One downhill putt that I barely touched from about 30 feet went 20 feet past the hole! lol Probably somewhere between 12-14 on the stimp meter!!! Maybe more! With the grass being very dry and dormant, add in a little down hill and down wind, and there was nothing to help slow the ball down. I'm anxious to play here under normal conditions. The layout was challenging enough. But had plenty of opportunities for scoring. Some "local knowledge" is a bonus on a couple of holes. Especially two of the par 5s. The 2nd hole is a par 5 with water down the whole right side and a dogleg to the right at the end before the green. I hit my drive down the middle. Hit a hybrid to lay up at 100, right down the middle. And when I got up there, a tree on the right side of the fairway to the left of the water completely blocked any approach to the green!!! lol Easy to avoid, but you have to know that it is there! There was another one on the back that got me as well. There are courses that are a little less expensive to play for sure. But, for the few extra bucks, if you play a better course, it's worth it. I'll be back to play here again for sure. read more

Fast greens, beautiful layout with plenty of challenges. This is a 7,000 yard course located on the north west side of town. It's easy to like this course from the water, trees and all the eye candy that could easily alter the mood and your day. A few tough holes and really tough greens make this one of the best courses in the area next to Black Horse. The only down side is the lack of a real club house or kitchen with decent foods. But since this is a review of the course, no worries, it's fantastic. read more

The Tory of this course is so sad. It actually once use to be a golf course people wanted to go play at. Not only has the course conditions gotten worse, but the unprofessionalism that lies with their staff is alone enough to never want to play here ever again. The old men working the pro shop are amongst some of the worst humans I've ever encountered..and this is the worst I've seen the greens in over the 14 years of playing here. On top of that, there are never any carts available, the course stays crowded, slow and unorganized, plus they never have any food or water for sale, at all on the premises. Which is dangerous and absurd especially when it was hot this summer... although this course is truly on its last leg...I still have hope that one day they will get the course in order, and will fire their entire pro shop and rehire people that arnt so miserable and hate themselves & their job!! read more

Most greens in bad shape--felt like putting on green spray paint. Also, the person serving food in the clubhouse was not wearing a mask. It may not be mandated in Texas anymore, but it should still be a common sense choice, especially when serving food indoors. read more

I write this review with the good and the bad. The track is in great shape. I'm very pleased with the shape it is in. I find the course to be challenging and forgiving at the same time. The bad is that they had no marshals out keeping up the pace of play. The back 9 we were waiting on every shot! No water at any of the coolers and it was hot! read more

Set up a tee time yesterday for today and when I called the guy said he out me down and when my group showed up he never did it and they didn't eve try to fix the issue so we left and came to Houston national. This is the reason we don't play here, they cost to much and the course is slow and decent. Sucks since I actually live across the street. read more

Course was in good shape. Greens were sanded but good. But with no Marshall's to help with play was tough. Waiting on the tee box for up to 10 minutes every hole because of the five some in front of us, who was being held up by a threesome was maddening. Finally skipped 2 holes. Not enjoyable. read more

Hi people's I went to go play a round of golf here and didn't really enjoy it. The course is very nice, the greens are super super fast and nice but the problem was that it was packed, very very slow play and my cart wasn't even fully charged. At the end I had to get off the cart so it could roll really really bad. I would suggest that you get your tee time early and to not even go there on packed days. They didn't even have range balls to sell. I think they have to have several starters to make sure the game flows at a steady pace when the course is packed like the day I went on. Ill give it 3 stars because the course is really really well maintained and nice other than that poor. read more

I love this course for a morning or EARLY afternoon tee time. The greens are some of the fastest I've encountered in Houston, but I think it just makes the game more interesting. The marshall is pretty serious about the pace of play, so if you like to take it easy, make sure you get a later tee time. The driving range is in a great area and well spaced. It's okay. I spent $80 on a Saturday morning (including small range bucket), for an "Okay" course and experience. The pro shop and grill are no frills (just okay)...the driving range and putting green are small (just okay)...the course is full of straight ahead shots and few doglegs (just okay)... And for the price of it all, it wasn't worth it. I am happy that I played it once, as I have played many courses in NW Houston, but I wouldn't come back for any price over $40. Additionally, it bugs the hell out of me, that these courses allow for walkers on Saturday. I appreciate the walking experience in golf...but not on a Saturday. This ruined the pace of play for my group, as two lower-skilled walkers were ahead of us. The one positive I have to say and to be fair...for all the heat Houston has seen in Summer 2015, the greens looked good. But that is it. read more

Played here for the first time a week or so after a lot of rain, and the course was in great condition. Challenging layout without being ridiculously difficult. Nice to have some topography on the course as well (unlike so many Houston courses). On the negative side, our progress around the course was slow, and we didn't see a marshall who might have been able to get things moving. Overall, however, I'll definitely be back. read more

Played yesterday 8/30/15 with an early tee time.... Apparently they were booked for the day and our foursome had to start on 10 which is no big problem and the pace of play was not too bad......until we made the turn. Apparently they allow fivesomes during peak time on a Sunday!!! We made the turn and there were 3 groups standing on the tee box. When we asked the Marshal what happened he said that a group of 5 (members) showed up and hour after their tee time and argued that the course had it wrong....so they just fit them in! We waited on every tee box the whole second round and finished in 5.5 hours. The course was in good shape with fast but true greens, all the recent rain has helped all of the local golf courses...but it's Houston and it's August so it's hot and you would think that the cart girls would do a good business.....well we saw our first one as we pulled up to the 18th hole....gee thanks a bunch. It's an OK course but not worth $80, far too many quality courses in Houston. read more

Generally good course and good service. Very much an asset to the Cypress community. My only real complaint is that the front entrance to the facility off of Cypresswood Dr. is for some reason not maintained very well. The grass and shrubs are not cut and trimmed properly and one of the marquis plaques have fallen off. It's been propped up against a wall for a long time now. read more

Loved the course layout! Greens in excellent condition. We played on September 26th 2014 and the mosquitos were so bad that we would not play there again. We had repellant on and there was a decent breeze but even with that we were swarmed and stung even thru out clothes and golf gloves. I don't know if they do not spray but we noticed this problem last May while taking lessons there at the Matt Swanson facility. read more
