Cypriana's strongest asset is its staff. I wish I had written down my waitress' name so I could put a name to the praise, but she was bubbly, helpful, and friendly. I could tell from other conversations throughout the restaurant that the other servers were equally kind to their patrons. The decor is beautiful! I feel like I don't usually see restaurants with such a strong aesthetic in the Fulton area. I think the ambiance created by the decor definitely heightened my experience. Now, for the food. What we ordered: - Traditional Country Spinach Pie - Falafel - Spicy Lamb Beef Dip - Grilled Octopus - Grilled Salmon - Chicken Tenderloin - Athenian Shrimp The spinach pie and falafel were standard; good, but nothing to write home about. The spicy lamb dip was my party's favorite mezze. I feel that Cypriana does meats very well (especially the grilled ones). But the dishes were brought down by the sides. The grilled salmon, octopus, and chicken were all delicious! However, the red quinoa mixture tasted incredibly earthy. I did not enjoy it, but some healthier members of my party did haha. The chicken and fries was probably the best pairing (and child-approved!). Regarding the "Athenian Shrimp": Upon some research, I believe this is the restaurant's interpretation of Garides Saganaki. The restaurant served the sauce on a bed of pilaf. From my understanding, shrimp saganaki is more commonly (not exclusively) eaten as a dip with bread. Of course, there's no "wrong" way to serve anything, but the rice paired with the Athenian Shrimp was incredibly moist to the point of distraction. The sauce was very good, but I found myself eventually eating around the rice because the wet texture was so off-putting. We had an awesome dining experience here! Everything we had was super delicious We were a party of four so we had a great opportunity to try the majority of their Mezzedes but our fave was definitely the spicy lamb & beef dip - full of flavor !! There wasn't any dish that we didn't like , in fact we pretty much ate everything they brought out Service was attentive and quick too ! The restaurant is attractive and airy with well spaced tables. It was pretty busy that evening but it was very comfortable with really low noise level. Great food, exemplary service and wonderful ambiance- all that for a well deserved 5 stars Can't wait to go back and try some more deliciousness!!! Very new Mediterranean restaurant at Fulton! Everybody now how I like Greek kitchen because very close culture with ours! Pretty big and capaciously space. Decoration don't disturb you. The bar with semilunar shape at the entrance. There are also cocktail tables at the entrance. This part separates with little wall from the restaurant... The food was good. We took, Dolma (grape leaves with rice and mincemeat) it was tasty but I prefer a bit more less cooked. A bit mashy Mougendra; this is the first time I tried this Mediterranean dish. I cant compare it with my experience. Only thing is when I search the dish, it looks again less cooked on the internet pages. You can see the lentils and rice piece by piece. I like the dish. It's looks more winter dish, but I like legumes anytime. The pita bread! OMG it should be my favorite. They make the way how Kebap restaurants are making in Türkiye! Hot, plump and tasty! We took 2 medium plates. -The octopus was, very soft but tast wasn't that good. I like tabbouleh! The quinoa again was over cooked. And smell very lengume! (You have to wash very well before cook. With very well rubbing) -The chicken tenderloin was good. Especially potatoes on the sides was very tasty. I can't say %100 satisfaction. But only 1 moth ago they opened and vision looks they willing to be good spot! So will come back again! (The thing was; there was a loooong hair on the table in the beginning. I've only had the chance to try one food item here so far, the classic hummus, but it was very good! Might be the best I've had so far! I think what sets it apart is how smooth and creamy it is. A lot of dips have a grainier or even slightly chunky consistency. Not so with this one. Their drinks are exceptional as well! I had the opportunity to try two: their Old Fashioned and the Tears of Chios. The latter has a very unique name and some unique ingredients, but I strongly encourage you to try it! It was a much needed departure from the standard bar menu that literally everyone has. The service was wonderful, very attentive, and very friendly. The overall look and feel of the place was quite nice. It doesn't have a Mediterranean gimmick about the place, but it is modern, clean-looking, and calming. Overall, I would definitely come back here in the future, and I can't wait to try some of their other dishes. The menu seems focused on ordering many of their smaller plates and sharing them amongst the table. Cypriana is a lovely addition to the Maple Lawn neighborhood. Saw that they recently opened and decided to try them out. A big WOW!! I have found one of my go-to spots for food and drinks. The restaurant is beautiful. Large bar area with an even larger dining area. I sat at the bar and was well taken care of by Kiri and Sam! Super friendly and offered great food recommendations. I ordered the chicken tenderloin which was absolutely phenomenal. Each bite was filled with fresh Mediterranean goodness! It's served with Cyprus fries (which are like potato wedges), tabouli (a refreshing mix of cucumber, tomatoes, and herbs) and this beautiful tarragon dressing. I wasn't expecting such a treat for $19. They are still fairly new so they haven't established a HH menu. I'm told that will come eventually. Can't wait for that! I will most definitely recommend Cypriana to anyone looking for authentic Mediterranean food. read more

This was the first visit for our group on a weekday evening. Ample parking is located in the back and very easy to enter through the lobby area. Wood and natural tones for the decor was calm and relaxing. Background Mediterranean music was lovely to listen to and conversations could be easily managed. Our young server was energetic and answered questions politely and helpful in arranging separate checks for our group of 12. Dinner selections were varied, salads were very generous and the ingredients with fresh herbs was appreciated. There are smaller to larger plated items so depending on how hungry you are, you have options. Their Spinach pie seemed to be a big hit and was told it was delicious. I had the Grilled Portobello Mushrooms which were huge and grilled to just the right tenderness with a nice balance of sweet and tartness with their balsamic reduction. It came with a serving of tabouli and the Cyprus fries were done to just the right degree of crispness and lightly seasoned. Everyone enjoyed their meals, I only heard one comment that they wished the moussaka was a bigger portion. Flavors and sauces went well with each dish. Prices may be a bit on the higher side but you can adapt with your selections. I wish they served lunch but for now they are serving dinner and have a happy hour period on weekdays between 4-6pm. Met a friend for lunch. There were pros and cons to the experience. Pros: The food was tasty, plentiful, and reasonably priced for Maple Lawn. We had salads/bowls and shared a side of fries. Seating was comfortable. Restaurant was almost empty at lunch time (not really a 'pro' - just an observation). Cons: A weird blend of mixed table service. We had to get up to order from the host, including when we wanted water and drink refills. Food and bill were brought to the table by a server, who clearly expected a tip. Soda was flat (twice). There's no ketchup for fries. We were told it's because ketchup is not authentic Greek. But, neither is a White Chocolate Blondie or a Baltimore Salad, which both appear on the menu. read more

Wonderful restaurant week experience! For $45, we enjoyed unlimited mezzedes, and we really took advantage of the unlimited part! First, we had to stop by the bar for the excellent happy hour for our first round of drinks. Great wines! Then of course split another bottle with dinner. Our waitress was great, super attentive. We ended up trying almost all the dishes and probably had 15-20 small plates between the 4 of us..we were STUFFED! The meat dolmas, koftas, and lamb dip stood out the most to us. We also really liked the falafel, cheese puffs, and hummus with the light and airy pita bread. The eggplant was not a fave for anyone. The veggie dolmas also meh. Both moussaka were great, but we all preferred the veggie with halloumi cheese. We definitely could've had more pita but towards the end, the restaurant was getting busier and service slower. It took about 45 minutes for our plates to arrive after ordering and actually ended up still getting plates through dessert! I think the kitchen needs to reorganize during peak dinner times. Tonight was our third time at Cirpriana - and likely our last. The food is just okay. We ordered small plates - various vegetarian selections. Spanakopita (spinach pie) is good, not great. The filo wrapping was mushy not crisp as expected. Hummus is quite tasty, but very runny and hard to eat with the delicious pita. Stuffed grape leaves (wild mushroom version) are mushy and lack spices. The lentils were totally bland. The highlights there have been the wines - we've tried at least 4 and they have all been very good and as described. Service was okay. One of the dishes we ordered was somehow not noted and we had to ask for it a second time. A major complaint is that all the dishes are brought out at once, resulting in several hot dishes being eaten luke warm or cold. Pacing the serving makes more sense for the patrons, although it's probably easier for the kitchen. Plus paced service keeps the table from being crowded with dishes. Maybe that's our fault for ordering everything at the beginning. The curtains are a good addition, although shades covering the entire window would have been better. First time we were there there were no window coverings, so the drapes are an improvement, although they do let the harsh sunlight in from the edges and middle and it can be unpleasant when that sunlight finds your face. We wanted to love this place and were excited to learn about it via window signage. But given how pricey it is, how small the portions are (except for the Spanakopita, which was a good size), and the overall 'meh' flavors, we are likely to not go back. Dining out has become so expensive and in return, you want the food to be at least very good. read more

Maple Lawn is one of the more civilized dining districts in central Maryland -- polished, walkable, and designed for people who actually go out to eat. Restaurants here should function at a higher level simply because everything around them does. There are no excuses here. Cypriana, unfortunately, seems unaware of this. The space is pleasant enough at first glance, but quickly collapses under the weight of its own indecision. Formerly a tapas restaurant, it now presents as Mediterranean, Greek-leaning -- though the room tells a different story. Beige meets ecru meets bone meets oatmeal meets unbleached canvas. Minimalism is one thing; visual anesthesia is another. Had I not worn red Chucks, I'm not sure there would have been a single actual color in the room. The menu reads competently on paper. Optimism followed -- until the food arrived. I began small, as one should. If a kitchen can't execute the little things, it has no business touching the big ones. The grilled halloumi should have been a quiet triumph: salty, bronzed, warm, creamy inside. Instead, it arrived lifeless and reheated, draped with a cold, pre-service zigzag of balsamic last fashionable in 1985. The menu promised grapes and mint. What arrived was one singular grape, cut in half, and a wilted scrap of mint that looked surprised by its own fate. When I inquired about the grilled octopus, our server warned -- before ordering -- that some nights the fish isn't as good as others, and that she could remove it from the bill if it wasn't right. Consider that advice. The mushroom soup arrived thick, aggressively floury, and utterly joyless -- a gluey beige slurry that sat heavily on the tongue, adhering rather than dissolving. No earth. No depth. No sauté. After a few attempts, I abandoned the banal pretense of soup and moved on to the solids, which revealed boiled, chewy mushrooms that appeared never to have met a pan, seasoning, or intention. The octopus itself was technically tender and completely overcooked, stripped of char, spice, citrus, or contrast. One solitary octopus leg arrived for $28. Singular. The garnish included limp cucumber slices flirting with spoilage and a tiny metal ramekin -- an object with no rightful place on a dinner plate -- filled with what seemed to be straight vinegar. Not a good one. Just acid without purpose. A mound of grain posing as tabbouleh arrived so salty it seemed designed to distract from its complete mushiness. Every dish at the table failed. The lone bright spot of the evening was a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir -- lovely, balanced, and wildly overpriced at $19 a glass -- yet somehow the only redeeming element of the meal. Cypriana isn't struggling because it's misunderstood. It's struggling because flavor, care, and intention never seem to enter the room. Maple Lawn deserves better. read more

All I can say...... Is wow! We decided to try this restaurant because it was new... What a wonderful experience There isn't anything on that menu that we ordered last night that I would not have again. We had the eggplant which was absolutely delicious, and I've never had it prepared that way before. We ordered the fried cheese with the sesame seed that had a honey glaze on it. It was absolutely scrumptious. The pita bread that they served with it was freshly baked came out of the oven absolutely delicious and soft. I had the Bronzino, and it was prepared perfectly!! The white staff was wonderful, very attentive, and took care of us perfectly. We visited here for the first time for my birthday. Initially seeing the training week sign I was a little nervous but instantly I was put at ease. The whole serving team was just awesome. Special shout out to our two main servers of Teh & Abdul who waited on us & were all smiles and top notch service. The food was really delicious and I liked the manager came around talking to folks about feedback. Their bartender was whipping up awesome cocktails. The wines were great as well. I organized a work lunch here for my team. I made the reservation for 10 ppl over a week ago. I called this morning to confirm the reservation and there was no such reservation on the books. Very disappointed on our last visit. The hummus was nice but nothing special. The Caesar salad was a bowl of romaine topped with pieces of dried pita. I decided to try the Cyprian speciality, sheftalies. I am very familiar with Mediterranean cuisine and I would have expected that the restaurant would put extra care into something like a signature dish. But it was awful. Dry with a very offputting taste. The sauces were bland; if there was a relish I missed it. The servers are nice. The location is pretty, but I'm not sure if we'll go back. read more

We tried their Restaurant Week menu, $45 per person, all the mezzedes you can eat from their special menu. Much of the food was fine. Not exceptional, but good. I thought the meatballs, stuffed grape leaves, spanikopita were all very good. Dessert was good, especially the baklava. The moussaka - both vegetarian and meat version - was not good at all...or just not to my taste? Eggplant dishes were so-so. I found the pita to be too oily and not puffed up. The space is very pretty. Our server seemed inexperienced. She confused our order several times. We had to wait a loooong time for the pita that was supposed to come with one of the dishes. And that brings me to my chief problem, and this is the main reason I won't be back: there was a dish listed on the special menu that we requested and our server told us that was "a mistake ... it's not supposed to be on the menu". But it WAS on the menu. I asked her to inquire whether we could order it, since it was on the menu. She came back and said they denied our request. I understand mistakes can be made when printing menus - and, if you, as management, are leaving it on there for customers to see and order, you should honor the order. If you do not wish to offer it on your special menu - get new ones printed or cross it out. Seriously. It was such a little thing for the restaurant, but left a poor taste in my mouth in terms of their customer service. On top of the slow, confused service, and the server telling me I was wrong about the dish that was supposed to come with pita (again, it was PRINTED on the menu), it's enough for me to pass on any future visits. The final, rather thoughtless, touch was that we each ordered a cup of coffee after dinner. Typically, when one orders "a cup" of coffee, one gets one cup. I've certainly been to lots of places that make the coffee in a french press - and unless there are both regular and decaf drinkers at the table, you get ONE french press for the table. We were two people, and got TWO french presses. And got charged for two. It was not a lot of money, however, as I said above, had we been having a fabulous experience already, I would have shurgged it off as an inexperienced server and it would not have been enough of a reason not to return. But it was kind of the last straw for me. read more

We wanted to like this so much, but unfortunately we just can't recommend it. The food was a mixed bag. A few things were good - feta with honey and sesame and the grilled shrimp appetizer, yet the latter at the cost for just 4 shrimp was not a good value. Not good - stuffed grape leaves with lamb and beef were mushy and had an unpleasant tomato paste type of sauce. Whole Branzino was ok, but didn't wow and at almost $50 for that it had to be better than ok. Service was well intentioned yet our server was obviously very inexperienced. Forgot to bring spoons with soup (also good but too expensive for what it was). By the time he came back with the spoons after we had to remind him AGAIN when he came back to refill water having forgotten that he'd forgotten them, the soup was cold - had to ask that the soup get re-done! There were other service hiccups too. The space itself is nice, yet noisy, but that doesn't factor into our rating as that we view as a personal preference so I note that as an FYI to anyone reading this and still considering going. Overall it felt very overpriced given the uneven food quality and service issues. If it wasn't overpriced maybe I'd have given a third star. read more
