Cute ambiance, cozy vibes, and great service. The food was decent overall, but the seafood paella definitely stood out. We got the medium size and it's probably enough for 2-3 people max. Not the biggest portion, but super flavorful and worth trying.

Everything was delicious. The paella does take awhile to prepare so they ask you to order it first then peruse the rest of the menu. Nice happy hour menu with a lot of selection on food and wine. Ambiance was warm. Loud enough to speak freely but quiet enough to hear where everyone is saying.

I'm late, but no wonder I always hear so much about this place! I was in the area on some business and stopped here while I had some time. I arrived right around the time they opened, so it was empty. But the decor is so stunning and inviting, I'm glad I was able to take it all in with the lack of people. On the far end, there's a bar with less than 10 seats, and that's where their happy hour takes place 4-7. I love me some tapas, so I was excited to dig in! I was hungry so I got to sample quite a few things -- calamari, salad, croquettes (MY FAVORITE), lamb meatballs, bunuelos, patatas bravas, and more items that I can't think of at the moment. As I already said, the croquettes by far were my favorite. I also had a delicious mocktail (summer punch) to wash everything down. I enjoyed myself so much that once my business in the area was done, I came back right before they closed and was able to get myself another order right before the kitchen closed. I got to enjoy a sangria as well. I need to visit again and work my way through their menu. I want to find something I enjoy as much (if not more) as the croquettes. Dope spot!

My cousin and I wanted to go out for dinner. We picked El Mercat! First time coming and we had an amazing dinner! Started with the patatas bravas and gambas al ajillo with shrimp - both were absolutely delicious. The montadito de carne had such great flavor, love me some chimichurri; definitely a standout. The alitas de pollo had a nice kick from the spicy honey sauce. It's not too overwhelming but you definitely feel the heat. Cocktails were on point too. That pineapple smoke drink is wild! You really get hit with the smoky flavor at the end, loved it. The flor de España was a little strong but in the best way. Only disappointment was the churros rellenos with Nutella. They looked great but weren't cooked all the way through, which was a bummer since I was really looking forward to them. Overall though, great meals and I'd definitely go back. We plan to let our girls know to try it out!

This place was fabulous! Service was quick, the interior setting offered good ambiance, and there was a unique variety of menu items--including many that I've never seen offered at other tapas restaurants in the past. We dined in early, and made a reservation, but didn't end up needing it on a Friday. However, by the time we left all of the tables were full. I would absolutely consider making a reservation if I was to return during peak hours. I would love to try additional menu items. The carrots were the dark horse and are a must try!

Cute, cozy tapas bar in Rockville Town Center. Not sure how long they have been here but I had a good time and I would come again. There's a few parking options to include street parking and some garages. There's daily happy hour (yes, I know!) from 4 - 7! Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for happy hour. They have specials on small bites, cocktails, beer and wine. I enjoyed the red sangria and a red wine. Service by Veronica was great! Thank you : )

Delicious tapas! friendly service as well. The albondigas (meatballs) were so savory and flavorful and it was nice to dip the toasted bread in the seasoned tomato sauce afterwards. The mocktails don't come super sweet but you can ask the server to make them sweeter.

The place was nice and a bit tight since they have a lot of patrons coming for happy hour. We had a couple of tapas and drinks. My favorite was the calamari and the margarita was great. The service was good and the whole place is very chill and full, you know people loved going here.

Stopped by for a quick bite and ended up really liking everything I tried. The crab and artichoke dip came out piping hot and super creamy, packed with flavor and actual crab meat. It was rich but not too heavy, and the toasted bread with it was perfect. The spicy honey wings were easily the star of the meal. Nice crunch on the outside, juicy inside, and that sweet heat combo was on point. Sticky, messy, and so worth it. The seared steak with chimichurri was great too. The steak was tender with a nice sear, and the chimichurri added a garlicky, herby kick that tied it all together. Service was friendly, atmosphere was laid-back, and the food came out fast. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm craving wings or just want some solid comfort food with flavor.

I'm normally not a tapas person. I never know what or how much to order and, in the past, ended up with too many fried food plates. But I really enjoyed our dinner here last night. We got a variety of items: Escalivada - roasted vegetables with yogurt Albondigas - lamb meatballs Datiles con Beicon - dates with bacon and blue cheese Patavas Bravas - fried potatoes in tomato sauce Gambas Al Ajillo - shrimp, garlic oil, chili Calabacin a la Plancha - zucchini and goat cheese Maiz Rostizada - roasted corn with spices We enjoyed the variety and different flavors of the small plates. The garlic sauce with the shrimp and the tomato sauce with the lamb were worthy of repeat dipping. The roasted vegetables with yogurt was finger-licking good. The only item we really didn't care for was the dates wrapped in bacon. I thought the date was mushy and the bacon overcooked. I took one bite and spit it out from the texture. One of my partners didn't care for it, but liked the hardness of the bacon. Only one of the three people at our table ate their bacon wrapped date. The rest we left on the plate. A waste of $9. There is a large selection of small plates at the restaurant, and I will come back to try some of the others, as well as repeats. I'd also like to try the paella sometime. The paella requires a 30 or so minute cooking time, and the server was sure early on to get that under our consideration. Service was good and friendly. The restaurant is small physically, so it is easy to catch parts of conversations from nearby tables. But it's a nice atmosphere and welcoming. Three of us spent about $90 total before tip, and we felt full and satisfied.

Omg! The food was delicious. I really enjoyed the montadito de carne. The steak was very tender and flavorful. The service was good considering there was only waiter. The ambiance was nice. Very aesthetically pleasing. Overall, I had a great time and would 100% recommend.

    Crema Catalana (2 stars)

5 stars Garlic shrimp - I could eat this sauce with bread all day PEI mussels - almost as delicious as the shrimp 4 stars Shishito peppers - great tasting but would be nice to be charred a bit on the outside Zucchini - wonderful flavors Chicken & chorizo paella - not the chorizo I prefer, but the chicken is well seasoned and their paella is cooked perfect. They allow it to cook long enough that there is socarrat, they probably put it in the broiler after to crisp the top, and the taste of the rice is excellent. It's not tomato based like many other paellas 3 stars Seared steak on bread Mushrooms Calamari Seafood paella - maybe a 3.5 Churros stuffed with dolce de leche 2 stars Octopus - I prefer a long piece that is grilled and charred Lamb meatballs - the taste of this just wasn't my thing Creme Catalana - not too special

Made it out for a Friday date night here! Service was great, although a smidgen confusing at first because multiple servers were helping us. One gave the best recommendations that rounded our meal well and I'm sorry I didn't catch his name because he was a true gem! Stand outs were the coco Catalina flatbread: it was perfection, horseradish was zesty but not spicy, we both loved it. Definitely a must try item! Shishitos were cooked well. We didn't love the mussels. The shrimp were ok but the sauce and bread outstanding. Churros and caramel are a must get. Sangria was good! Potatas bravas were good but maybe too saucy for my liking.

This time around, we ordered pad thai, one dish with shrimp and one with beef, crabmeat fried rice, and the khao soy noodles. The khao soy was the perfect amount of spicy and the chicken pieces + fresh onions + crispy noodles added a nice texture to the richness of the broth. This order came literally 5 minutes after we placed it, with the rest of the food coming shortly after! Portions are reasonable - all of us managed to finish our plates and felt pretty content if not full. I would say this place has a fun, upbeat atmosphere with the colorful, graffiti walls. Very limited seating though, so understandably there may be a wait time on a busy Friday or Saturday night.

Sweeter but also milky enough to balance the sweetness. Deep-ish flavor. These were freaking steal. $4 and they don't overload them with ice. Service was good. Got my food in like 10 minutes. Dear Management, I…read moream writing to share my family's experience during our Father's Day visit to your restaurant. Unfortunately, what should have been a special celebration turned into a very disappointing experience due to the service we received upon arrival. We had a reservation for 4:00 p.m. When we arrived, the gentleman at the host stand was not welcoming or friendly. He simply told us to "step to the side" and that someone would assist us in a few minutes. As the minutes passed, we continued to wait without any communication. During that time, a white family of five walked in without a reservation and was seated immediately. At that point, I approached the host stand to ask what had happened and why we had not been seated despite having a reservation. The host searched for our reservation, asked what time it was scheduled for, and then casually stated, "I think someone stole your table." I was shocked by this response. I asked how that could happen if he was responsible for managing the seating. He had no explanation and, more importantly, never offered an apology for the mistake or the inconvenience. A manager later came over and asked what had happened. After I explained the situation, he appeared genuinely surprised and concerned by what had occurred. Once we were finally seated, our server acknowledged the delay and kindly offered us an appetizer because of the long wait at the front. We appreciated that gesture, but it did not change how unwelcome we had been made to feel upon arrival. I am writing this letter not because I am looking for compensation or anything in return. My purpose is simply to ensure that no other family has a similar experience, especially on a day meant to celebrate loved ones. Every guest deserves to be treated with fairness, courtesy, and respect. A sincere apology from the host at the time of the incident would have gone a long way. I hope you will use this feedback as an opportunity to coach your front-of-house staff on the importance of customer service, communication, and accountability. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. Sincerely, Ms. Deas

It was a good choice for us in this case because we were staying at the Even Hotel in Rockville. This restaurant was in the extensive commercial plaza adjacent to the hotel. Hence, it was a 2- or 3-minute walk out of the hotel entrance. While not readily obvious from Rockville Pike, it was easy for us to find. This place has French styling with respect to their menu offerings. They identify more specifically as French Fusion. The restaurant interior presented similar to that of a nicer American Bar/Restaurant (something like the Cheesecake Factory, for example, but not as massive). While the seating capacity was plentiful, it was fairly quiet on the Monday evening when we visited. Hence, there was no problem getting seated. Our server, Oliver, tended to us right away and did a good job taking care of us the entire time we were there. We had no complaints at all about the quality of the service and the timeliness of the food delivery. The menu featured several interesting options. My wife chose the Tartine Caprese Pesto dish. This included Mozzarella and Sliced Tomato on Toast covered with Pesto with a salad on the side. She was quite happy with this selection. I tried the Parisian Mushroom and Brie Omelet which also came with a Salad and a Waffle on the side as the bread. It was very tasty and quite filling. I should also mention that the complimentary French Bread with which we started was a nice touch. My wife had the Inconditionnel, which was a concoction with rum mixed with chocolate and hazelnut liqueurs and Orange Juice. I had a taste and thought it was pretty good. I tried the Sangria Rojo and was happy with that. The value was relatively reasonable for the type of place it was. With food, drink, tax and tip, our bill came to about $68. At $34 each, this seemed commensurate with the experience. If you fancy this sort of food, this is a good choice for a nice dinner in Rockville, a place full of restaurant choices. I wavered between a 3- and 4-star rating, but ended up with a four-star rating as they did quite a few things right.

The two pastries we had were both good and satisfying. The pain aux raisins had a moist texture with a gentle sweetness. The croffle itself was nicely buttery and delicious, although the cream on top was a bit too heavy for my taste. Prices felt reasonable for the quality and location. Service was quick and friendly. My boyfriend and I went to Melina for the first time, and we both left with the exact same thought: this is the best restaurant we've ever been to. To begin, our server, Justin, was the absolute best server we've ever had. From the moment we sat down and were handed the menu, Justin immediately began to explain the starters and appetizers. He didn't just explain what was on the menu; he broke down the origins, the ingredients, where they were imported from, why they were named what they were, how they were cooked, and even how they would make us feel! We left that introduction knowing exactly what we wanted and why, with zero guessing. Neither of us is from Greece, yet we didn't feel like we had to look up a single thing on our phones to understand the menu. Everything we had was a perfect combination and an incredible experience. When it came to the main dishes, I chose the Portobello Mushrooms, which come with a hazelnut farro. Justin remembered that my boyfriend is allergic to nuts and thoughtfully had the farro served on the side so that my boyfriend could still try the rest of my plate safely. That level of care and thoughtfulness is something I've never encountered in all of our dates. Between the jokes, the perfect check-ins, his menu encyclopedia knowledge, and the overall vibes, my boyfriend and I left the restaurant overwhelmed with joy. Neither of us has ever left a restaurant review before, so that alone says a lot. Melina and Justin will definitely be a regular staple in our lives moving forward. We were in the area running errands and hunger started calling. There was no debate, we were coming…read morehere and it was very well worth it. It's pretty cozy in there, has indoor and outdoor seating. They don't take reservations so it's important to get on the waitlist. We were right on time bc by the time we walked out, the wait was an hour if not more. We both had the morning meditation. It was very refreshing, I love a ginger turmeric blend. Then we snagged items off the summer special menu. The chipotle steak and queso hash, banana brittle French toast, and million $ bacon. Absolutely loved the flavor combination in the French toast--the almond butter crème anglaise and caramelized bananas were the perfect bite of sweet topped with sea salt. I was greedy and added pieces of bacon to each bite. The hash was very good too! The queso was a little more runny than I would've liked but the flavor was there and it was delicious every dip. The service provided was solid, even with a busy packed house. We would definitely return!

I just wrote a review on spilled iced coffee, and when I think of infamous spilled drink, I think…read moreof the downtown Rockville First Watch. I visited this location 3 times, 2 while I lived in Wheaton and one not long after moving away from Montgomery County. Feb. 2019 I used my birthday deal, pretty uneventful good food. Oct. 2020 there was another deal, again uneventful. My 3rd visit was the noteworthy one in March 2021. I recruited a friend to help use my birthday deal expiring fairly soon (as it's a BOGO deal), who lives in Montgomery County and doesn't like driving far. So, I schlepped from my home in western Anne Arundel County over to Rockville as God forbid he would schlep to Watch First in Laurel in PG County (my closest location), Columbia, or anywhere close to me. Food was good per normal. Server was nice and efficient. However, as a polite word in baseball, she made an error. She spilled the cranberry juice all over my friend. I was spared from her error sitting on the opposite side of the booth. At first, she said we can take the cranberry juice off the bill. We said that was weak. Manager came over and was nice saying how about we comp this meal for you. We said that's a lot better. However, I added that my birthday deal will be useless. The manager said he would just take off my meal too, and I could use the birthday deal again. I don't think I ended up using the birthday deal ultimately that year as it was close to expiration. Overall, while the cranberry juice was spilled was not good, the manager was nice & handled this well. First Watch Rockville is overall positive in my experience.
