I recently dined at Clove & Cardamom in Columbia, Maryland and overall had a really enjoyable experience. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced for the quality. The mango lassi ice cream dessert was HUGE definitely big enough to share and SO good. It was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The atmosphere felt clean and modern. It's a beautiful space that works well for a nice dinner out or even a special occasion. The only downside for me was the customer service. It felt very rushed and because of that, it didn't feel like a place where you can comfortably sit and catch up with friends for a while. Overall, the food and ambiance were excellent, but I'd recommend it more for a quicker dining experience rather than a long, relaxed hangout.

We came for lunch and the food was really good. I got the vegetarian pasta which was enough food by itself, but it also came with a small pizza I think to try and justify the price. My husband got the lamb tikka masala which was enough for two people. The dishes were very shareable portions. The masala tea tastes like homemade Indian style, which is exactly what I was looking for. It has less spice then I'm used to but was still very enjoyable. It was a little difficult to hear the servers because they all whispered. Overall, the servers were very attentive, but I would say not super friendly. They also weren't unfriendly, but there was a weird vibe when they came over. We were dressed pretty casual because we had the day off so maybe that's why. I don't come to this center that often, but I'd definitely go back again if I'm in the area.

This was a pretty good experience! The restaurant is beautiful. I went during lunch so it wasn't very busy at all, like at all. I was very surprised and excited about the lamb pizza, I was all in when they said the crust was naan. The shrimp dish, which I cannot remember the name of, but it was an appetizer. It was very salty in the shrimp were overcooked. I thought their glassware was really nice which is why I showed my little midday Gingerale. And the Bendy straw was a cute touch. lol I was truly overwhelmed by the amount of unique options they had on their menu and would definitely go back to try more.

Introduction to why here: I was here on Sunday, June 19, 2022. I wouldn't classify as a date in this case. We had gone on 2 dates in April 2022, didn't go anywhere at that time. I bought 2 Tears for Fears tickets at Merriweather a few days earlier thinking someone would want to go, but I struggled to find someone to go. I reached out to a lot of friends. My initial question was how they liked Tears for Fears. If they said, they liked them, then my next question was if they wanted to go to the show. Ultimately, I ended up going with this chick who I already kind of wrote off as being kind of flaky and not interested in me for dating but I was cool for friends, and she was willing to pay me back for the 2nd ticket, which was what I was looking for as well. Clove & Cardamom experience: This is one of the restaurants in the new (or at least it was pretty new in 2022) Merriweather District. The restaurant was kind of open air to the outside. Seating was limited and had to wait, and ended up at a high top near the back side of the place near the bar. That prior Tuesday I saw the doctor & figured out my bad blood test, and the doctor said I need to lose weight, and many of those blood #'s will improve. So, I lost a lot of weight from June to November 2022, and my 4 month follow up on blood #'s were much improved in October. I told this woman about my weight loss goals, which she thought was noble, & she agreed I was a fat-ass...haha. I ended up some chicken salad bowl, which was solid. Also, got a white wine, which was good too...probably not the best for the weight loss goal, but gotta live a little and did great that week otherwise including going on long walks on Saturday & that day on Sunday. Server did a good job answering questions. Conclusions: This is a good Indian option, but there are some better options in Columbia. As for this chick, we went on a date again at another Indian restaurant in Rockville in November 2022, and she was very complimentary saying I looked a lot better than I did in June. We went on several more dates in late 2022 & early 2023, but never went anywhere because she was flaky and had her eyes toward other guys. In early 2023, she started dating another guy, and they are married now.

I had a delicious dinner with a friend here, wow the food is well seasoned and plated! I love the generous portions, plenty to enjoy! I really enjoyed my lunch there! it was truly a wonderful experience! I got the lamb Mediterranean salad. It had cold salad greens and warm roasted vegetables and tender pieces of lamb on top. The salad was large, colorful and presented beautifully!! Only suggestion is that I might have liked my lamb grilled at medium temperature instead of braised well done. I also got a blueberry mojito mocktail, which was refreshing and amazing!! The service is top notch! I loved that the server made excellent lunch suggestion and kept checking on me. The place is modern and very nice! I would like to come back soon for their Indian dishes, and naan.

First time trying Clove & Cardamom and it was a wonderful first impression! -Service was friendly and fast; -Nice bright space with a variety of seating options; -Easy free surface parking; -Creative menu with more traditional renditions along side fun fusions too! ex: we shared a Chaat Samosa Naan Pizza as a table, and I had Panner butter masala and mango Lassi as for my meal. Everything was delicious! Will definitely be back and would certainly recommend, especially if you are by Columbia Mall/Merriweather.

Food was excellent. I got the chicken tikka tandoori which came with a side of curried lentils and rice. The chicken was wonderfully tender and was very flavorful without being too spicy. I would order it again. Service was attentive and the restaurant was very clean and tidy. The menu was very robust and interesting. I look forward to coming back and trying more food options!

I came here for a celebration with my family. We were able to get a big booth that sat all of us. We started off with the Bollywood fries, which we loved. It reminded us of chaat. We got their chilli paneer which was super tasty, especially when we mixed the sauce in this with the Bollywood fries. For entrees, we got the egg curry, methi malai mutter paneer, and malai kofta with a side of butter and garlic naan. All entrees were really tasty! Our server was checking up on us throughout the evening and treated us to gulab jamun and gulab jamun cheesecake at the end. Great restaurant and will be coming back!

Been a go-to spot in the mall area! Super fun Indian fusion menu, with a great variety if you want to try something unusual. If anything, their more traditional Indian food is their weak spot! I wasn't blown away by my orders from that side, but was a huge fan of all the fusion food. The pizza, cauliflower wings, loaded fries, Brussels sprouts, etc were all tasty and interesting takes!

This happened over a year ago, but after reading recent reviews, I felt it was necessary to share my experience as a Black patron here, especially since I still see recent reviews mentioning similar things. I wanted to like Clove and Cardamom because the food itself was actually good, but the overall experience was so uncomfortable that it completely ruined the visit. The entire time my boyfriend and I were there, it felt like we were being stared at, not in a casual way, but in a way that made us both uneasy. Even when I got up to ask where the bathroom was, the staff were cold and unfriendly, almost like they didn't want us there. What really stood out was how their attitude shifted after we paid. Suddenly, they were [finally] polite and smiling in our faces, which honestly just confirmed how off the energy felt before. Something made me think of this restaurant today, so I checked the recent poor reviews and saw multiple other Black and POC customers describing the same experience, being stared at, treated differently, and even asked to pay before finishing their meal, while white patrons were not. Seeing that pattern made me realize it wasn't just in my head. It's disappointing because the food had potential, but no one should feel uncomfortable or singled out when dining somewhere. To top it all off, we both ended up with horrible stomach aches afterward for like 2 days Definitely not a place I'd ever go back to or recommend.

The atmosphere is great for a date. It has large windows to let in sunshine and lower, intimate lightning during the evening. The staff are very accommodating and checks in to ensure that your taken care of. Depending on what you order, the food is either fantastic or meh. The butter chicken was a 6 for me, I wouldn't order it again, but the lamb sizzler platter, Bombay fries. and the garlic pepper scallops were all 9/10s. The menu has a lot of interesting fusion dishes including a large vegan selection. The only thing that gives me pause about returning is the price of everything. It's a bit pricey compared to other Indian or Asian fusion restaurants in the area.

It feels upscale but still very welcoming. The service was excellent, and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered a little bit of everything--the charcuterie board, mussels, buffalo cauliflower, short rib pappardelle, Wagyu burger, pizza, and cocktails. The mussels were absolutely incredible, and every dish came out hot, looked great, and tasted even better. Honestly, there wasn't a single thing we didn't enjoy. If you're in the Columbia area, I highly recommend dining in and experiencing it for yourself. We'll definitely be back.

Save your money. Warning the review is long. TLDR: service is so bad and so expensive for shitty quality food. Though their coffee and sangria were delicious. We were seated promptly and while waiting for the rest of my family arrived the waiter brought us water. He claimed the appetizers were good for sharing so I was expecting the portions to be good. Our party was 8 adults and 2 kids. We got 4 appetizers and it's good we got 4 of them because had we gotten 1 or 2, literally everyone would get like 1/2-1/4 piece of appetizer. So not sure why he said the appetizer was good sharing size. Also I want to note these appetizers are not cheap. They were very expensive for the amount you get. You would think if you paid $20-$22 per app you would get more. Literally paying for an entree with significantly less food. Onto the food: The waiter claimed that the Lemongrass chicken was "juicy". We got two of these and it was SO SO DRY. The Mediterranean salad I got was so salty. And the mussels that I also ordered were disappointing. I want to say 60% of the mussels were closed. This indicates that these might have been undercooked, poor quality or simply did not get checked. The mussels were so salty as well. What really pissed me off is that my mom ordered the shrimp tacos. Nothing complicated about that right? Well they never came out. We find out that there was a mixup so they sent it to a different table and we're "working" on a new one. Tell me why almost two hours later they never came out till we asked for the check? Then they magically come out in a to-go container. Literally the sloppiest mess you can imagine. How is that acceptable? You're telling me it took 2 hours to make this pile of shit? And what's even more absurd is their own menu says it comes with fries. Well in that small ass container they did not include fries. I asked about this and they looked confused and said it should come with fries and that they would get it. I have never experience such ABYSMAL, ATROCIOUS service. Sure the waiters and front staff were nice but nice doesn't make up for the terrible service. Something is going on in the kitchen for sure. Why does it take 1 hour for appetizers to come out. And then 45 min after only 3 people's meals come out. In polite company you would wait for everyone's food to come out to begin eating, but idk what they were doing back there that there was such a delay. Once the 4 of us finished our meal well the 5 people's food comes out, they got an entire order wrong. Ordered a kids pepperoni pizza and they brought cheese. We told the waiter that this was wrong and literally 5 min after he brings what I can say is the SAME DAMN CHEESE PIZZA with pepperoni slices right on top and a bit of Parmesan cheese. We could tell it was the same pizza because the pepperoni were sitting right on top like someone just added it on. We complained to the manager and he brought a new pepperoni pizza that was good this time. We had to ask multiple times for condiments and water refills. I could give a little leeway if this restaurant was so busy but it was not busy at all. Our waiter kept peeking over at us and not coming over like he was scared. And if your service is gonna be this bad, at least the food should be good but no. You have terrible service and shitty food that you're paying $$$ for. And gratuity being included is laughable because the service provided was not worth an almost $80 tip. We had to get up and find the waiter to ask for the check and where the hell the shrimp tacos were. In the end they tried to comp only the pizza and the shrimp tacos, but that was unacceptable. They did comp the appetizers. But they tried to give us brunch vouchers but why the hell would we come back to this place that had terrible service?? Make it make sense. And now that I review the 1 star reviews, it is consistent with everything we experienced. Terrible service, missing food, and hunting down the staff. Also the owner responds to bad reviews with AI responses. Shame.

This place kept popping up, so I figured the internet couldn't be wrong... at least not this time. The restaurant is tucked away in what feels like a residential area, making it a true hidden gem. The parking situation, however, deserves its own reality show. Spaces are limited, and getting in and out of the parking lot felt like I was participating in an advanced driving course. The establishment offers nice seating, but don't expect a formal dining experience. You place your order at the counter and then find your own seat. When we arrived, the place was packed with people ordering and eating. That's usually a good sign, and at that point I knew we had either found the jackpot or everyone in Columbia had the exact same cheesesteak craving. Because of the crowd, ordering took a little while. The dining area was also in need of some attention--we ended up cleaning our own table before sitting down. The food took longer than expected to arrive, but as soon as I took the first bite, all was forgiven. We ordered two cheesesteaks and a personal pepperoni pizza. The cheesesteaks were absolutely loaded with perfectly grilled meat, topped with grilled onions and peppers, all served on a warm, soft hoagie roll. Every bite was packed with flavor and required at least a few extra napkins. The personal pepperoni pizza was also excellent. I'd describe it as a traditional thin-crust pizza with the perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. No ingredient was trying to steal the spotlight--it was a well-rehearsed pizza ensemble. As I said from the beginning, this place is a hidden gem. The food alone is worth the trip. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars instead of 5 is because of the challenging parking situation and the dining area's cleanliness and service. Fix those two issues, and this place might just become my new definition of a cheesesteak pilgrimage destination

Good Italian food, nice service, nice live music…read more Friends had told us of the musician playing at Tino's Italian Bistro on a Wednesday in Dec 2025, and we've enjoyed Tino's food before, so we headed over. It's a pretty big place with a bar and booths on the left, and another area of booths on the right. We were greeted and seated quickly by the hosts, and as we asked, we landed near the performer in the area to the right. The place was busy around 6pm, and friendly server quickly got menus for us, and within a few minutes, we had our drinks: a lovely $13 Maple Walnut Old Fashioned, fiery intense Makers Mark sweetened a little by maple syrup and focussed with walnut bitters. And a bright $13 Pom Pom Fizz, earthy gin with pomegranate juice, prosecco, and i think some lime juice. Both were well crafted , balanced, and refreshing. They started us with a sliced long narrow loaf of hot filone bread, with one of our Italian favorites, warm pinzimonio dipping oil: fresh aromatic olive oil with a pinch of mixed rich parmesan crumbles, zingy red-pepper flakes, and savory green herbs. It is tempting to make our whole meal of this! We had the $19 salmon & spinach in oil & garlic, from Tino's "lighter fare" menu. This was a huge filet, tender inside with a lovely deep crosshatch char on the surface. Quite perfect! And we asked for a customized $14 sandwich: Tino's offers a steak & cheese on chewy crusty hoagie roll, and we asked for added sautéed green peppers, with the generous cheese, sliced red onion and tomato, and lettuce on the side. The generous thin-sliced beef was tender and sweet cooked just right. The tasty lightly-seasoned fries were piping hot, and soft inside. We were perfectly satisfied with our light meal, and we managed to take a good amount home for later. The skilled musician, Bruce Casteel, played 5 to 7pm, a warm selection of familiar acoustic jazz, easy and fun to listen to. We'll return both for this musician and for the wide menu of flavorful food. It turned out there is a large, free, public parking lot less than half a block from the restaurant. Our reservations were for 3:00 which worked out perfectly. We missed the buffet crowd before us and the dinner crowd after. We checked in at the front desk and were lead to our booth, which was tucked away in a corner and so cozy and comfortable. Our waitress, Lori, came by to check on us and to see if we needed anything. She was wonderful our whole dining experience. The rest of our party soon arrived and we ordered drinks and some appetizers. When our granddaughter, Ashley, ordered an alcoholic drink our waitress carded her. While checking the ID the waitress' face lit up and she smiled as she realized it was a few days past Ashley's 21st birthday. For appetizers we ordered fried green tomatoes, fried lobster bites, and duck oil fries. It wasn't long before every bit of the appetizers were eaten. For our meals I ordered crab soup and an entree salad, Our daughter ordered onion soup and a hamburger. For the rest of our party there was another hamburgers ordered, a crab cake, a seafood dish, and a fried chicken sandwich. One down side to the meal was my crab soup was awful. It tasted like tomato juice with frozen vegetables and some crabmeat. (Awful crab soup? This is Maryland, it should be better than that.) I passed it down to Richard. My salad was very good, nothing outstanding, but fresh enough and quite generous. Everyone else was totally enjoying their food. Ashley only ate about half of her seafood stew, but since she had eaten over half of the lobster bites, that was not surprising. For dessert daughter ordered cheese cake to carryout. Ashley ordered some fancy piece of cake. Of course it came with Happy Birthday written in frosting across the bottom of dish. We had had requested not a big birthday fuss so that was perfect. All in all it was a nice birthday lunch. I think arriving mid day, having Lori for our waitress, and everyone if good spirits made it perfect. I would definitely be happy to go back again, especially if we could get a cozy booth with Lori as our waitress.

He rushed us to order, made us uncomfortable when we were deciding what to order, and asked us if we wanted the house made bread. I knew the bread was $5 but he made no mention of it. If I was coming to eat there and was asked if I wanted bread and didn't know there was a charge, I would be upset. It was kind of deceiving, and when the bill came out, shoved the handheld device to pay in my face and I couldn't go over the bill. He told me to put my phone here when paying and that was that. The bill was incorrect and I had to get a manager to fix it (the manger was very friendly and took care of everything). I also have an issue when a server asks us how the food is, right when the food gets put down on the table. We hadn't even had a chance to take a bite. Now, why I gave this place a five star. Like I said before, the ambiance was amazing, if we had a different server, I'm sure it would had been great! The food: it' was top notch. Some of the best food in Maryland. I wouldn't had changed anything with the food. Everything was seasoned perfectly, had the right textures, and tasted so good! Would I go back? Absolutely!

The house is also subdivided into smaller rooms, so there is no more than about 6 tables per section. It made it intimate and well curated. We went with friends and came prepared to eat. We ordered plenty of appetizers, our meals, and 2 desserts. My favorites were the burrata and arancini. My salad was basic, but trying a bite of my husband's steak was fantastic. Pretty much everything was a baseline of good enough to order again, but now that I've gone once the things I need again are pretty much all the appetizers and a steak. As for the desserts, they were just ok. I don't think I've ever had a dry olive oil cake, but this one was. The gelato on top made up for it because it was like an added sauce. Finally, our server was ok. He was great with our orders and refilling our drinks. However, he was a little sneaky with asking us the type of water we wanted and if we wanted the focaccia for the table that you had to pay for. He also just rushed my husband through the bill so he could not see if it was accurate and he had added an appetizer that we never got. He was still nice and good waiter. Just minor things in an overall great experience.

I sat at the bar and received service from Phillipe-I hope I spelled it right. The service was amazing and so was the food. They have a ton of wine to choose from and they have wine inside of the glass around the restaurant. The brick over is in the center of the restaurant and you can watch your pizza being crafter from beginning to end if you like. I ordered the Seafood Maribella which came with Shrimp, scallops and crab meat. I'm not too big on scallops so I asked the bartender if I could substitute the scallops with more shrimp--but if they couldn't it was still ok. He sent in my order and my order came out the opposite. I received what I believed to be double scallops and no shrimp. The manager happened to be passing by and checked on me while passing. I explained to him that the order came out opposite from what I requested--with no hesitation he immediately said --no problem ma'am, I'll put in a side of shrimp for you.... I was so thankful for his generosity and quick problem solving. The shrimp didn't take long at all to arrive. And they arrived so hot and tasty. I really enjoyed this place, the ambiance is EVERYTHING!!!! The service is EVERYTHING!!!! And the food and drinks were immaculate... Last but not least I can't forget the restroom. When I tell you this place has the best restroom I've ever been in at an establishment --I mean it. This place is top notch and I definitely will return. I didn't try any pizza on during my visit but I will on my next visit. This place is a 5 start restaurant all day long....

We had also ordered side Caesar salads. It was restaurant week and neither of us opted into the the 3 courses for a price option but our server did kindly inform us that she grouped it that way to help us save and include the dessert. We ended up getting the Nutella dessert (I don't recall what it was called). While the presentation wasn't great, it was very good and I would recommend it. Wish I liced closer so I could come here more often but it is one of my favorites in the area.
