We sat inside since the weather wasn't that great outside. They have beautiful grounds to taste wine and have a picnic. Since we sat inside we had Jake waiting on us. He was very nice. He gave us a bottle of water to start with and we went through the tasting list with a couple of extras. He put our wine club pickup together for us. We decided to swap out a couple of bottles. I thinks it's truly annoying they have to refund the entire wine pick up and recharge you again. It's not a friendly user experience and should be reviewed. Credit the two bottles and recharge the 2 bottles. I think it would be a simple process for the customer and the winery, and still have good accounting practices. I asked if we could have the complementary breadsticks everyone else was eating them and the girl behind the counter said we are all out. OKAY! I really love the Chardonnay it's my favorite. Rombauer makes some great wines. Bottles can be costly, but once you open the bottle and you have your first - three sips, you know why you're in the wine club. As a member your tastings are complementary which is a nice benefit. I'm happy that they hold our wine club bottles until we come to pick them up usually twice a year. It would be nice if they did complementary shipping for a penny all the time.

The tasting room and wine shop has a bit of an Italian villa vibe. The huge back lawn was beautiful. We chose to stay inside since outside service was limited that day. The bottle labels and wine names were entertaining in themselves. With an extensive list it was hard to choose a few to try. I started with three of their five sparkling wines. The Almond, the Peach, and the Strawberry. I have an office full of girls that enjoy their sweet bubbles. So they got some that day. For me, I like the reds. Julie Ann Barbera, Sienna Mourvedre, Morgan's Nebbiolo, and Naughty Bawdy. All great, but Naughty you have to try on label and name alone. Plenty of parking in the front.

Their winery was busy with 3-4 other groups when we arrived with just Wendy working but soon it was just our group. We had a great wine tasting experience here thanks to Wendy. It's a beautiful and large winery with lots of seating inside and outside. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and were seated in their enclosed back patio. And were told that their wine tasting was complimentary! Wow! Their marsanne white and barbera were excellent. The wine tasting was fun thanks to our hostess Jane. She kept us entertained. She told us all about their winery and it's production. Unfortunately this was our 3rd winery of the day and we were pretty wined out so we only ended up buying two of their barberas. We will have to do another trip and come back.

A former biology teacher, she brought so much knowledge and passion to the experience that we walked away having learned a ton. Another winery had recommended this spot to us for the quality of their grapes and wine, and they were absolutely right. The variety was impressive -- the Barbera was excellent, the Blanc de Blanc was crisp and refreshing, the Cabernet was fantastic, and even the Pinot surprised me (I don't usually go for Pinot, but I really enjoyed it here!). Between the warm, knowledgeable guidance and the wonderful wines, this vineyard truly stood out on our trip.

Hands-down, one of my favorite wineries in the Amador region. So much so that I am a member. What I…read morelike about the small wineries is that you actually get to talk to the wine makers. This spot is no exception. Lots of seating, indoors and outdoors as well as bar seating at the front. Came on a hot day and was told that the front room actually has the best air-conditioning. I appreciate the little goodies that come with the wine tasting. Helps to cleanse the pallet as well as bring out the best flavors of the wine. What's unique about Jeff Runquist is that he uses pure varietals. He brings out the best characteristics in each of them and there isn't any blending going on here. Service wise, I've always had great service. Very attentive as well. If you're coming to the area to try the wines of Amador, be sure to stop by here. They also have wines from other regions, but it's so nice to try estate wines which they feature here.

This winery sources wines from 12 different appellations. This means you have tremendous access to fantastic wine regions across California and wonderful varieties to tempt your taste buds. The tasting room was clean and welcoming and the day we visited it was member pick up day. The wines we tasted were fantastic and we purchased quite a few. Membership is available and several levels to choose from. I would recommend this winery. The festival provided a fantastic opportunity to taste these wines and others as well.

September 25, 2027 - Plymouth, CA…read more I've been wanting to visit this winery for quite a while, especially after hearing they had pieces of the Berlin Wall. I pictured a few small chunks of concrete on display. Well...they don't just have pieces. They have several original sections of the Berlin Wall, beautifully displayed alongside their outdoor tasting area. I was immediately in awe. Standing there looking at the wall--and knowing what it represents--was unexpectedly emotional. I had just finished a novel about the Berlin Wall, so all that history was fresh in my mind. It made seeing these actual sections of the wall even more powerful. As we tasted the wines, I had a view of the West Berlin-facing side, complete with its colorful resistance graffiti. Walking around to the East-facing side was an entirely different experience. The stark, cold concrete has almost nothing on it except bullet ricochet marks. Seeing the two sides of the wall was incredibly moving. Okay...now for the wine! We did a tasting of six wines for $20 per person--one white and five reds--and honestly, every one was delicious. We liked them enough to buy two bottles to take home, which waived one of our tasting fees. John was our host, and he was gracious, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. He shared information about the wines, the vineyard, and the history of the wall, which made the whole experience that much more interesting. So yes, definitely come for the Berlin Wall and stay for the wine. It's a unique combination of history, emotion, and really nice wine--and one I'm very glad we experienced.
