Do not go here for any eye care whatsoever! I had cataract surgery 2 months ago there and have had problems ever since. They acted like I was exaggerating! I am extremely light sensitive, my eyes burn and sting, I can barely see at times and driving is awful. They claimed to have no idea what could be wrong. I went there because I thought I needed new glasses for night driving. I was examined and told that I have cataracts and saw their surgeon, Dr Wu, and he recommended surgery. I then went back trying to get help for my painful, burning, light sensitive eyes. After this failure to help me from Dr Wu, I saw a specialist at Lexington Eye and he knew exactly what was wrong. The surgeon had cut a nerve when he cut into the cornea for the cataract surgery and it set off a painful nerve reaction that , Hopefully! will get better in 6 to 12 months! There is no treatment other than a low dose steroid eye drop. My whole life has been affected by this, I am still having to work and drive and it is a nightmare. I also found out that I didn't even need the surgery yet since that didn't help the problem I was having which is night driving. It is still bad. I needed new glasses! Now, driving in the daylight and driving at night are both terrible. A few days ago, I was speaking to an acquaintance and she said the same thing happened to her mother after having cataract surgery at D'ambrosio and her mother was miserable for 6 months. At this point I can only hope for a 6-month recovery instead of a year! Do not go there, their doctors are terrible! They only care about making money and doing surgery you don't even need! read more

If I could give a negative star review I would. Please do not waste your time, going here. They do not care about their patients one bit. It is all about the money, insurance otherwise. They will give a prescription and push you to get glass, as well as a follow up appointment at one of the other locations, (All for the money). Knowing damn well that they are not helping the patient. Stay away. You are better off getting treated by a "drive-thru" service. At least they would take minute to ask for your order! read more

I usually don't leave reviews but the office in Acton has repeatedly been awful. First of all, why are we still having to wait outside in a car to come into the office? That was fine at the height of COVID pandemic but there is no reason for it now. I had an appt at 8:10am on a Monday and they had me on hold until 8:25am. I finally go in and the only person there is a guy selling glasses. No signs of life anywhere else. Doctor finally gets me at 8;40 for an appt that was LESS THAN 15 minutes. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. I used to be a regular patient here. I just changed to a different doctor. I showed up 10 minutes early the Acton office, fully masked, as requested and called the phone number posted outside the office. The main office in Leominster answered and asked if I could be on a brief hold until the technician could talk to me. I continued to wait outside the office, After waiting 20 minutes, some guy came out and said I had to keep standing outside the office and stay on hold until a technician could get my info. At that time it was 10 minutes AFTER the appointment was supposed to begin. I have a crappy knee and my phone was running out of power. I went home and found a new ophthalmologist. These folks have no respect for their patients. I would not be so pissed off if they'd apologized, said they were having an emergency and gave me a realistic wait time. Again we get to our appointment 10 minutes before the started time. And we are still waiting on the parking lot 30 minutes later. Baby they be on time? And we are over of the first appointment of the day!!!!!! Not happy with the wait fingers,, as I have to have someone watch a 4 year old echo also needs to be at work!!! I am incredibly disappointed by how D'Ambrosio Eye Care treated me. I have insurance but they did not ask to take down the correct information from me and missed the billing time. Now I am charged with a bill for a 5-minute visit. I will be filing a report with the Better Business Bureau for this kind of practice. I repeatedly offered to send a copy of my insurance card information and was refused. It's hard for me to believe a doctor's office refused to verify a patient's insurance and then charge the patient the full amount for a 5 minutes doctor visit. read more

I was contacted multiple times, reminding me to schedule my yearly appointment, which I did. During the appointment, they conducted an imaging procedure. No indication that doing so was not part of a standard yearly appoinment. I received a bill from them a few weeks later for a copay (my insurance covers one yearly eye appointment). When I reached out to D'Ambrosia, I was told that the imaging procedure was not covered as part of a yearly appointment. I contacted my insurance and was told that D'Ambrosia claimed the appointment as a specialist visit, despite my booking the appointment as a yearly visit. Normally, I'd have given them the benefit of the doubt that there was a miscommunication. But a year later, the *exact* same thing happened to my wife. read more

I have been getting eye evaluations and corrective lenses here for many, many years, and I have always been very pleased with the tremendous amount of care everyone here puts into their work. Dr. Erickson has treated me since I was a kid and is amazing. I've had Dr. Kluge a couple times as well, and she seems very thorough and caring. Yes, sometimes they push me for extra tests or scold me for not properly caring for my eyes, but that just shows that they really are concerned about my visual health. They do encourage you to buy your lenses or glasses directly through them, and I'll admit, they aren't the cheapest you could buy. But I have really terrible eyesight, and I feel comfortable spending the extra money to know that I'm getting really high-quality, guaranteed glasses, as opposed to ordering them on-line or from a discount service. read more

I was very happy with the service I received. I have VSP insurance and BCBS and D'Ambrosio Eye took both, which saved me a lot of money. I worked with Sean in the Acton location to get a pair of progressive eyeglasses. I told him that I had a pair of progressives in the past but they never felt right. Sean took a lot of time with me and measured the fit and exact placement of the lens. I've had the new glasses for about a month and I use them all the time. They are a perfect fit and help me see both normally and for reading. read more

Refused to adjust my glasses because they were bought online. Ridiculous policy, most glasses places adjust for free or do a small fee. Went to the place down the road in Maynard instead and they adjusted mine in about 5 minutes. read more

Awful service. Rude front desk. I called ahead of time (half hour before my scheduled appointment) to be sure that they were running as scheduled. (This appointment was for my son and I didn't want him to miss too much time from school.) The front desk informed me they were running ahead of schedule. We arrived 15 minutes before our scheduled appointment. We were the only patients in the waiting room, and the only car in the parking lot. We were brought into a patient room at our exact time of our appointment. I asked the assistant/nurse how long before the doctor would be in. she said "he had 2 patients before us." I asked myself, How is this running on schedule?? We waited for 45 minutes in the patient room before we walked out to the front desk. So either they forgot about us, or have no respect for their patients. I informed her that I would be transferring our records to a new doctor. We waited for an hour... and still did not see the Doctor. Unacceptable. read more

I'll never go back, and it's too bad because this place is convenient and easy to book (maybe now I know why). It's just not a modern operation. They insist on dilating new patients or doing dilation every 5 yrs, and I was given a hard time when I said I'd rather pay for the imaging, even though I'm a new patient to their practice but not a new patient to the world (I have been wearing contacts for 25 yrs). The dilation makes me super nauseous (as it does many people) and ruins about 6 hrs. Fortunately (in a sense), we never even got that far because he put drops in my eyes that were "not for dilation, just a numbing agent", and then all this yellow dye without explaining AT ALL what he was doing. And then he did the old school glaucoma test where the thing touches your eye (not the puff of air) and I nearly threw up all over his office. So that was the end of the exam and I was happy to get out of there with my prescription, but not to spend a dime on contacts or anything else. Going to the eye doc sucks, but modern places understand this, they explain what they are doing, they listen to patients, and they use modern technology. So this place can eff right off. read more
