Got there at 6:00 sharp and the seats were already complete filled. Waited 45 mins to sit. The ambiance is terrible. My steak was huge but it was really fatty. Everything is blackened and heavily seasoned. I think the thing that threw me off the most was the place is dusty and filthy. Not a little dust but enough to coat absolutely everything in thick dust. When you spend 100 dollars on 2 meals a beer and a sweet tea you have higher expectations than a filthy place. Plus the bathrooms are so small you can barely move in there. I had heard about the Log Cabin for years but never had the chance to experience it until one of my groomsman coming up in my wedding wanted to treat my fiance' and me. It really is off the beaten path. It is on a road that runs beside the Chattahoochee River and when you get to the Log Cabin, the road turns into dirt. The name describes the decor perfectly. It also only has 8 tables inside and there are stories of people waiting for a very long time on weekends. On a Wednesday night though, it was no problem. Cash and check is the only acceptable method of payment. My table had the stuffed peppers and fried pickles as an appetizer. The stuffed peppers I loved. I usually love fried pickles but something about these tasted more fried than a good mix of pickle flavor. I ordered a rib-eye with fries and salad. Not much to the salad except the Ranch dressing is made in-house. I should have got the slaw. My fiance' let me have a taste of her slaw and it was the sweetest ever. The rib-eye was immaculate. I don't know how many ounces it was but it was huge. The steak was seasoned or marinated extremely well. I was getting mad at my future stepson for taking pieces of my steak since we decided to share it. It was $38 but it $38 well spent. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! If you are looking for steak and seafood and don't mind driving 20-30 minutes outside Dothan to the Chattahoochee River, then the Log Cabin is a meal you need to take on. read more

Absolutely the worst experience ever!! We arrived at 515 pm. We were first in line. They waited until 6 to let us in. Which no problem with that. But they herded us all in and waited 25 minutes to take our order. Only after we had ti ask. Then the waitress wanted to act smart about she takes orders as peiple come in. When we corrected her and explained we were the first ones here, she never returned to the table. After waiting almost an hour from the time of ordering, we received our food. Take your meals to go and watch the sunset over the Chattahoochee River! If you can't get a seat, anyway. This is my favorite restaurant in the South, perhaps the world. The steak and seafood here are amazing. This is an old-school restaurant which is run with passion and in the owners' own style. You are welcomed onto The Log Cabin property as if you were visiting longtime neighbors; greeted by sweet dogs, saying hello to other guest, friendly staff, and a classic setting. They have limited days and hours, and the quality is very high as a result. This is the way that all small businesses should be. A friend grew up in the area and recommended The Log Cabin to me. I was returning to Fort Rucker from Tallahassee and decided to stop at The Log Cabin. The drive and the restaurant were perfect. I miss the Adirondack Mountains, and this restaurant has that country and outdoor atmosphere of the ADK's. This is a special find in rural SW Georgia. Excellent seafood at competitive prices. It is off of the mainstream- you have to be patient in finding it. This would be five stars even if it was in a bigger city. Excellent food. It is a total hole in the woods but do not judge this book by its cover. My ribeye was huge in more than one meal. My wife got A half order of fried shrimp and it was plenty for an adult. Really good batter on the shrimp. The shrimp are large as well. Not the teeny tiny ones you see so often in restaurants. When I go back I will definitely order a cheeseburger because it looked amazing. Come here and spend seven dollars on a cheeseburger meal or $32 on a ribeye and either way you will leave happy. It is small and quaint. We did not have much of a wait but I heard it can easily get over 30 or 45 minutes. Good service. My friend had the catfish dinner and he says it is second to none. The only suggestion I would have is that they put a little more salt (and maybe some pepper) on the steak. It was cooked perfect and had a good steak flavor, but the best steak houses I've been to usually add a little heavy on the salt prior to cooking to bring out more flavor. read more

We were camping at the Kolomoki Mounds state park and decided to check out this local restaurant after seeing an ad in a brochure at the park. Its a bit away from the park (30 minutes) and its definitely off the beaten path for anyone but locals. I would say if your already in the area it is the premier local sit down restaurant and worth a gander and a meal. The ambiance and outdoor patio was a fantastic back country dining experience especially considering the mild weather that evening. The indoor restaurant is air conditioned. The countryside experience is complete with full tables of locals on a Saturday evening and mild mannered and sleepy hounds dozing under bushes and in the yard. We had the quail, crab claws, scallops and catfish. I believe that the quail was the best I have ever had. Even better than any I have had at fancy dress up restaurants in Atlanta. It was tender and spiced perfectly. Quails are gamey and can be difficult to cook but this establishment does this meat JUSTICE! The crab claws, scallops and catfish were breaded just right and were nice and crunchy and FRESH! I was pleasantly surprised at the freshness of the seafood. I speculate that the relative proximity to the gulf coast must be the reason. I must also mention that the salad isn't fancy but the blue cheese dressing is pretty darn tasty. I am not normally a fan of cheese grits, I typically like mine plain, but the cheese grits were really good and they did not overload it with the cheese like most other southern food restaurants would. Their beer selection is standard domestic only (as it should be for this establishment, serving import beers would ruin the experience imho). Be warned they only accept cash and check!!! (this also suits the place so well) Also, be aware that they cook to order and the food will take longer than what you might expect. I would recommend that you relax, chat with your dinner companions and take in the Georgia countryside pace of things. The food is absolutely worth the wait! This is a smaller, privately owned, off the main road kind of restaurant where usually only locals or repeat visitors know about, but this is a gem. Anytime my father or I eat here we almost always get the grilled quail which is the best I've eaten anywhere. Juicy, flavorful, and just plain good. The other food is great too and if you are within an hour of this place it is worth the drive. Wait times can be long and they have a smaller than usual dining area, but the food is awesome. If you want better wait times go mid week or an hour or so before closing, but they are not open everyday and close for some holidays so call before you make the drive. My cousins introduced my sister and I to this place on a return trip from Panama City Beach, FL to Rome, GA. It was a tiny bit out of the way but well worth it, and I can't wait to go back. Log Cabin is worth the drive when you want to do something different. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated, which was expected. It was cool outside while we waited, and without us even asking one of the staff members brought my daughter a blanket. We ordered fried pickles as an appetizer, which were delicious! My husband ordered the steak and shrimp combo. His steak was huge! I believe they only have 16-18 oz. ribeyes. He got 6-8 shrimp. I ordered fried shrimp and scallops. The service was quick and friendly. TIP: They do not take debit or credit cards! Cash or check only! I wish they had more options for children. We're hooked! We've been here three times in about 2 weeks and can't get enough! The fried seafood combo isn't too shabby, but definitely not as good as their grilled shrimp. I could live without the buttery substance they throw on the shrimp, but it's bursting with flavor. We've enjoyed the grilled shrimp on multiple occasions and also their steak. The steak is HUGE and it's pretty yummy, but a little saltier than I'd normally like. If you get there in time, try their cheese grits. I don't even like cheese grits normally, but I could eat theirs everyday. The service is always friendly and they're always super appreciative of our business.
